Chapter Eleven: The Hero Dies in this one

Nathan woke up to realize he had slept with a girl who wasn't Haley and she was completely naked so was he. He slowly crept out of the sheets and grabbed his boxers and left. Leaving the girl wrapped in the green covers.

Did I really cheat on Haley? He thought to himself.

He heard footsteps peddling towards the door. "Hey" the soft but yet raspy voice said.

"Hi."

"Can I come in?" She asked.

"Um I don't... Er think that's a good idea." He stuttered

"Don't be silly. I just have your shirt." She told him.

"Oh" He opened the door and grabbed the shirt.

"This was just for a night right? Because this always happens when a guy gets drunk." She said wearing her shirt.

"Yeah. I'm sorry it's just that you reminded me so much of my girlfriend, well after I tell her this ex-girlfriend. The blonde hair and the soft hazel eyes." Nathan described.

"No, I totally understand were your coming from. I was engaged two years ago and I had a feeling my ex-fiancé was cheating on me with my best friend, and he wasn't. Coincidentally he's now married to my former best friend and they have 3 kids." She explained.

"I'm sorry." He said symmpthically.

"No, it's okay, I've gotten over it. I think you should really fly to Tree Hill and tell that girlfriend that you love her, and tell her what happened. She deserves to know."

"Yeah, I guess your right."

"Oh I just remembered Happy birthday!" She said hugging his shirtless body.

"Thanks."

Brooke sat in the kitchen of Haley's house helping her decorate for Nate's birthday. 23. Was how old he was. He was flying in to celebrate.

"A little more to the left. Perfect." Haley shrieked.

"I hope he likes it." Brooke said.

"Oh I know he would." Lucas replied.

"You sure it's not so much."

"Nope." He said popping the 'p'.

"You can finally bring out that tramp stamp of yours Hales." Brooke answered.

"It's not a tramp stamp for your information. It's a tattoo of his high school basketball jersey number okay?"

"I never liked that 'tattoo'. Lucas responded putting air quotations around tattoo. Because he also knew it was highly likely a tramp stamp, on his bestfriend.

"Whatever, can we just get back to the party please." Haley groaned.

"Mama, is your boyfriend coming home?"

"Yes."

Haley dyed her hair a chocolate brown. (Season 6 style)

"Come help me with this." Haley told son.

"Okay." He smiled.

Peyton Sawyer-Baker sat in the counselling office to see if she could fix her marriage. Because 24 and a divorcee is so cliché.

"Hello Mrs. Baker, is your husband joining us today? Or will it just be us to." Olivia asked.

"Julian he's coming." She said hestitaing.

Just as she was about to speak Julian entered.

"Sorry I'm late." He did shutting the door.

"Your just in time." Peyton said.

"May I ask why your asking your wife here for a divorce." Olivia asked Julian.

"I don't want to divorce her, my mom thinks it may be a good idea to just focus on my kids and my career instead of a girl who doesn't know what she wants in her life."

" mhm okay ." Olivia spoke.

"Julian what's your mothers name?"

"Sylvia Baker."

"Is that her maiden name or her married name?"

"Maiden."

"Okay."

"How many kids do you have?"

"3. One boy and two girls."

"Names?"

"Dylan Baker 5, Anna 3, and Juliana 6 months. Peyton answered

"So do they know about this?"

"No."

Nathan reached the airport. As he felt more and more guilter for cheating on Haley.

"Now boarding flight number XY783A to Tree Hill, North Carolina. That's flight number..."

The flight attendant's voice echoed through the airport over the tanoy as she called out Nathan's plane.

-Flashback-

The night before the the flight.

"I don't want you go." Haley said, leaning her arm against his will looping her hand in it.

"I don't wanna go to, but this is a once in a life time chance Hales, and if I give this up then I can't play in the NBA anymore." he replied as they walked barefoot along Crystal Beach.

"Yeah, I know but your my boyfriend and I'm going to miss you like you wouldn't believe." She said this time more sadly.

"You always call me Hales, you know that. Are you sure you can't come?"

"I know and I know but I got my life here, but you got to know that I'm gonna miss you and that I love you my boyfriend of 3 months."

"I love you too Haley James."

-flashback over-

He boarded the plane. All he could think about was when and how he was going to tell Haley about the cheating. He thought that maybe listening to music would help him drown out his visions of Haley, bit nothing seemed to work.

Clay walked along the boardwalk with Jamie.

"So little man, what do you wanna do?" Clay asked Handing him an ice cream cone

"I don't know, Nathan takes me to the rivercourt and we play basketball. Do you play basketball daddy?"

"Oh Jimmy jam. Your daddy wasn't the basketball kind of person."

"What do you mean daddy your good at basketball."

"No Jimmy jam Nathan's good at basketball I play like a 5 year old, no offense. Your a great basketball player for your age just grow a few more inches, eh maybe when you get older."

"Yeah, I'm going to ask Nathan help me." Jamie said running down the boardwalk.

"Hey what about me!" Clay said dramatically.

"Like you said you stink at basketball."

"I didnt say stink I said not good. Hey come back." Clay responded, chasing after Jamie.

5 hours later..

Nathan took the bag off the baggage area, as he headed out to the cab.

"327 Oceanview Lane Please." Nathan said.

"okay."

It was 7pm and Haley waited in her living room with a glass of wine. As she sat there waiting for Nathan to open the door. She didn't have to think about putting Jamie to bed, because he was with his dad.

She heard the cab pull up into the driveway of Haley's house removing the luggage from the trunk.

He took the keys Haley gave him for there 4 month anniversary. He opened the door.

She sat her wine glass down by the bottle on the side table and got up.

"Hey boyfriend, how's Seattle so far?" Haley asked.

"Um it's okay, but I just missed you and Tree Hill. By the way I think the brunette hair suits you. And what's all this?"

"Why thank you boyfriend, and this is for you. Happy birthday." She said kissing him.

"Haley you don't have to throw a big birthday bash for me. I just wanna simple birthday."

"yeah okay, Mr. Simple besides you do so much for me. Just call this a thank you bash or Whatever."

"Haley there's something I have to tell you, and I don't know what your gonna say."

"Okay, Nathan what is it?"

"Well the night you left me the voicemail, I went back to the party I met my ex-fiancée and a blonde girl. I had a few drinks and well all I remember is waking up and finding that I slept with the blonde girl."

"So you slept with her?" Haley asked.

"Yeah, but I need you to trust me and believe me when I tell you that my heart is with you. Part of me feels like ever since we got together you've been waiting, waiting to push me away." Nathan told him not answering his question.

Oh great, so you kiss some hoe, and I'm pushing you away!?." Haley sourly responded

"I love you Haley, I don't know how else to say it."

"How about how you show it? I'm not pushing you away Nathan. I am holding on for dear life, but I need you to need me back. Okay, why wouldn't you tell me about the kiss and why didn't you call me while you were away and why won't you ever just let me all the way in?." She said, slapping her hands on his chest.

"Haley-"

—"Nathan I just think we need some time apart." She softly replied.

Clay waited anxiously in the waiting room of the hospital with Sara, as she cried into his chest.

"I'm going go call Haley." He said.

"Okay." Sara removed her head from her boyfriend's chest. As redness filled her eyes.

Clay went to the payphone and dialled Haley's number.

"Hello? okay calm down Clay what happened?! OMG okay I'm on my way."

Haley walked out of her house, and drove to the hospital, leaving Nathan in her driveway.

"Clay what happened?" Haley said a tad bit angry and confused.

"I wasn't... We left and we ga-gaot in to a accident, and he um got a broken rib, collapsed lung and broken legs as well as severe glass burns." He replied stuttering.

Clay was to distraught to speak. Knowing his son was lying in a hopstail bed.

"what did the doctors say?"

"They said he's unconscious, but in critical condition that he may not survive." Sara answered.

"This is why I never wanted to leave my son with you, you always find a way to ruin things." Haley said angrily.

Haley sat in the waiting room seat anxiously to know how her son was doing, as soon as Nathan appeared.

"Hey we need to finish our conversation." Nathan retorted.

"My son's lying in a hospital bed, and the last thing I need is my ex-boyfriend nerdimg to finish a conversation."

"Haley—"

—"Nathan just go." She said pissed off.

He left not putting up a fight, leaving Haley, Clay and Sara in the hospital.

Brooke and Lucas entered.

"Haley what happened?" Brooke asked worriedly.

She started crying and couldn't stop. Lucas hugged his best friend.

"Ms. James and Mr. Evans your son is in...
