Continuation to the last chapter, this one was supposed to be about Impmon's history. However, I decided to expand a bit the part with Akari and her team. Also, the battles are longer than in the original version. Also, there's no flashback (except for Impmon's story, but that one was supposed to introduce the other Demon Lords).

Divided They Stand

''RAAAAUGHHRR!''

Impmon and Arisa covered their ears as the green Coredramon roared.

''Okay, okay, we can hear you,'' Impmon muttered. ''No need to make my ears bleed! Sheesh!''

Coredramon simply glared at them, flame sparks forming in his mouth.

''Green Flare Breath!''

Arisa and Impmon quickly ducked, escaping the flames. Arisa pulled out two cards.

''Digi-Modify: Speed, Plug-In H!'' She slashed it through her D-Power, causing Impmon to become faster. The little imp Digimon started to run circles around Coredramon, with the latter having a hard time keeping an eye on him. ''Digi-Modify: Devil Chip!''

Feeling his power significantly rising, Impmon jumped, floating right in front of Coredramon.

''Bada Boom!" Impmon fired a fireball right between Coredramon's eyes. The dragon roared in pain, with Impmon grinning. ''Ha! Gotcha!''

''Strike Bomber!''

His eyes widened in shocks as Coredramon turned to him, swiftly slamming his tail at Impmon and catapulting him into the nearby tree.

''Impmon!'' Arisa screamed, worried about her partner.

Impmon, while beaten and bruised, was luckily still alive. He frowned, glaring at the Coredramon.

''Damn it… This won't be as easy as I thought…'' he muttered.

''This is ridiculous! Why should we go search after those two?!'' Akari frowned.

''It's because Akaiyame-sensei wanted us to go. Not to mention, it's not like we can go against the wishes of the higher-ups,'' Ken said, looking over at Akira. ''Right, Tatekawa-kun?''

''Hm,…'' Akira didn't answer. ''I just want to find them and get out of here.''

''If you say so…'' Ken shrugged. Akari and BlackGatomon observed Akira.

''Just what is his problem?'' BlackGatomon whispered.

''No idea,'' Akari replied.

''Digi-Modify: Calumon, Kurumon Prayer!'' Arisa slashed a card, helping Impmon to recover. The latter was still glared at by Coredramon.

''Do you really think that a weak Rookie, even with a Tamer, could beat me?'' Coredramon suddenly said.

''Not only beat, but also absorb your data and become stronger!'' Impmon replied, getting up. ''After all, that's what a Digimon's life is about.''

''True, but you're mistaken. I'll be the one who'll absorb your data, despite it being just a little snack!'' Coredramon grinned. Impmon frowned, getting into a battle stance. ''Green Flare Breath!''

"DigiModify: WarGreymon, Brave Shield!"

WarGreymon's shield appeared in front of Impmon. The stream of flames hit the shield, but while Impmon was protected, they burnt down his surroundings. Impmon sighed in relief after seeing everything around being burnt to ashes, while he remained unharmed.

''That was close!'' he muttered.

''Huh, so it seems my flame cannot penetrate that shield? Let's see if this'll do! G Shurunen II!'' Coredramon's horns started glowing and her fired a laser beam.

Impmon put the Brave Shield in front of him, hoping it would save him from this attack as well. Then he heard cracking. The blast was so immense he couldn't stand even more, pushing him slowly back. Suddenly, he felt someone from behind holding his shoulders and looked up. It was Arisa, who tried to help him keep the Brave Shield in place. He grinned.

Coredramon stopped firing at them, a devious grin appearing on his expression as he watched the smoke clearing. He believed that he managed to turn his opponent into ashes, but his expression quickly changed to a surprised one as he heard the girl shouting.

''Digi-Modify: Shiro Hane!''

Impmon suddenly emerged from the smoke, white wings adoring his back. The gust of wind cleared the smoke below him, revealing Arisa with another card.

''Digi-Modify: Birdramon, Meteor Wings!''

''Take this! Meteor Wings!'' Impmon's wings started to grow, turning fiery red and released flaming meteors at Coredramon, resulting in an explosion. He then landed on the ground next to Arisa. ''Was that it?''

''I hope so.'' Arisa muttered.

To their dismay, they heard another roar. Coredramon was far from beaten.

''Huh?'' BlackGatomon's ears twitched. ''Did you guys hear that?''

''Hear what?'' BlackAgumon asked.

''Well, it sounded like a roar,'' BlackGatomon explained.

''I didn't hear anything,'' Wormmon said, turning to his partner. ''What about you, Ken?''

''No, I didn't hear anything,'' Ken said.

''Well, I did!'' BlackGatomon got angry.

''Nobody says that they don't believe you, Lilith,'' Akari tried to calm her down. BlackGatomon's ears twitched again as she heard another roar. This time, it sounded louder. Akira also heard it, turning his head towards where it came.

''I think there's a battle going on.'' He narrowed his eyes.

''We don't have time for that. We need to find that slacker and her partner,'' Akari replied. Then she blinked and the three Hackers exchanged glances.

''What if that was our slacker and her partner?'' BlackGatomon voiced everyone's thoughts.

''Into what did they get themselves this time?'' Akira said, sounding quite annoyed.

''Say, can't we just vote to leave them and pretend we didn't find them?'' Akari asked. ''It's not like they're gonna be missed.''

Suddenly, their D-Power's started to flash in a red color. Wormmon, BlackGatomon and BlackAgumon faced different directions.

''What is it Wormmon?'' Ken asked.

''We're surrounded,'' Wormmon replied.

Suddenly, Dokugumon started to crawl down from the treetops, trapping them.

''I doubt we're going to get out of her anytime soon,'' Akira said, glancing at Akari.

''Tsk, whatever…'' Akari replied. Akira and Ken took out their Digivolution cards.

''Digi-Modify: Digivolution, activate!''

DIGIVOLUTION!

''BlackAgumon digivolves to…''

BlackAgumon got covered in a black ''egg'' made of data, his skin being ripped off and replaced with new data. His frame changed to that of a hulking black-blue dinosaur.

''BlackGreymon!''

''Wormmon digivolves to…''

Wormmon got covered in a dark green ''egg'' made of data, his skin being ripped off and replaced with a larger and leaner frame. A humanoid insect emerged from it.

''Stingmon!''

The two were joined by BlackGatomon.

''Now let's teach those insects a lesson!'' Akari said, with Ken and Akira nodding.

''Ow, this is getting worse and worse.'' Arisa muttered. ''Impmon, watch out!''

''Strike Bomber!''

Impmon, who attempted to attack Coredramon, got swatted away like a fly. He hit the ground, his wings dissolving. While hurt, he still wasn't going to give up.

''We need to figure out a way to beat him in one shot.'' He muttered as Arisa helped him up.

''Hehehe… Are you two giving up?'' Coredramon asked.

''Never!'' Impmon and Arisa screamed in unison.

''You can't beat me!'' Coredramon replied, amused by their stubborness.

Arisa clenched her fist, trying to figure out a way to beat the Dragon Digimon.

''Wait! Dragon Digimon?'' Her eyes widened as she remembered something.

-Flashback-

''Okay, how would you beat this Digimon?'' Taito showed Arisa and Shoutmon a card of Frigimon.

''It's obvious! You need to use a fire attack!'' Shoutmon said.

''Correct!'' Taito nodded.

''That was too easy. Try something more difficult,'' Arisa told him.

''Mmmm, okay,'' Taito looked at the cards on the bench. He, Arisa and Shoutmon were in the park. ''How about this one? Wingdramon, Level: Ultimate.''

''Well, battle it with another Ultimate or a Mega,'' Shoutmon suggested.

''I agree,'' Arisa nodded.

''Well, true, but there's another way,'' Taito pulled out another card. ''Here, the WarGreymon card.''

''And what about it?'' Shoutmon asked as he and Arisa looked at it.

''WarGreymon has weapons known as the Dramon Killer gauntlets. They can destroy any Digimon of the Dramon-species Digimon,'' Taito explained.

''That's awesome!'' Arisa said, with Shoutmon nodding.

-End of Flashback-

''Of course!'' Arisa exclaimed, taking out another card. She looked at Impmon, who noticed the determined expression on her face. He nodded.

''I wasted enough time on you two! Say goodbye!'' Coredramon exclaimed.

(Insert Song: Spiel dein Spiel by Digimon Tamers)

''Digi-Modify: Yukidarumon, Icy Breath!'' Arisa slashed a card. Impmon ran towards Coredramon.

''Icy Breath!'' He formed a white glowing orb and released a literal blizzard at Coredramon, freezing the latter's legs.

''What?!'' Coredramon exclaimed in disbelief. He tried to break the ice, but failed.

''And now, Digi-Modify: WarGreymon, Dramon Killer!'' Arisa slashed another card.

Impmon gained the Dramon Killer gauntlets, brandishing them.

''Wh-wha-what are you-?!'' Coredramon's eyes widened in fear at the sight of the infamous blades.

''Now!'' Arisa yelled. Impmon jumped.

''Mega Claw!''

He exclaimed, drilling the Dramon Killer gauntlets deep into Coredramon's chest, destroying his DigiCore. The latter screamed in pain as he dissolved. Letting the gauntlets disappear, Impmon absorbed the data.

''Finally!'' Arisa exclaimed.

''Hah, did you ever doubted it?'' Impmon said proudly, only to cry out in surprise when Arisa suddenly hugged him. ''Okay, that's enough! Cut it out!''

The two enjoyed their victory, but it got cut short when they heard an explosion coming from nearby.

''What was that?'' Arisa said, she and Impmon exchanging glances. Once another explosion occured, they decided to investigate it.

"Nova Blast!"

"Spiking Strike!"

"Lighting Paw!"

Stingmon, BlackGreymon and BlackGatomon quickly dealt with the Dokugumon. Their partners looked at their Digimon proudly, as it was clear that the three of them were enough strong and that they didn't need a fourth member.

''I guess that's it,'' Akari said as the BlackGreymon and Stingmon turned back to their Rookie Levels. ''I say we just leave.''

''So you really decided to abandon Bunya-san and Impmon,'' Akira muttered.

''We don't need them,'' Akari replied.

''I have to agree with Akari-san,'' Ken said. ''They're the weak link.''

''…'' Akira didn't reply. He thought about what they said, but just as he wanted to reply, they heard rustling, with Arisa and Impmon appearing.

''Oh, hey guys,'' Arisa said, surprised to see them. ''What are you doing here?''

''Sensei sent us to search for you after the signal of your tracking device mysteriously disappeared,'' Akari said, with an annoyed expression on her face.

''Ah, that! A green Coredramon stepped on it and broke it,'' Arisa explained.

''So we beat him! Ba-Boom!'' Impmon added.

''Oh, really? Did you digivolve?'' BlackGatomon asked, being quite curious.

''As a matter of fact, no. But hey, I absorbed his data. That was the whole point, wasn't it?'' Impmon grinned.

''I think that in order to even pass it, you should digivolve,'' Wormmon said. ''In other words, you failed.''

''Wha-?!'' Impmon frowned. ''Hey, beating a Champion while still a Rookie should be impressive enough!''

''That's not impressive at all. I would like to see you beat an Ultimate while at your Rookie form,'' BlackGatomon said.

''Says the gal who's in Champion form the whole time,'' Impmon said in a sarcastic tone.

''Ow, shut up!'' BlackGatomon yelled at him.

Wormmon and BlackAgumon sighed and glanced at each other. Both shrugged.

''Well, at least we found them,'' BlackAgumon said.

Hey everyone, it's BlackAgumon! Now, next time the parents are coming to visit us, but it seems like something's going on with Akira. I'm really worried, as he doesn't talk much about his family or even friends. Considering what he had to go through… well, I just want him to know that I'll always be by his side.
