"So Michiko, how has your team training been going?" Minato asked his daughter. The whole family was eating dinner at the table which had become a rarity as of late.
"It's been going well, but I'm getting tired of doing all these D-rank missions." Michiko said picking at her food. "Do you think you could do something about that? You are the Hokage after all." Michiko said looking at her father hopefully.
"I've told you before that it is you sensei decision. Kakashi will tell you if he thinks you ready to take on higher level missions." Minato said. Michiko looked back down at her food looking highly disappointed. "But if you think you're ready for a C-rank then maybe we could try-"
"Minato!" Kushina yelled slamming her hands on the table. Kushina knew exactly what Minato was going to say. He was going to suggest confronting the Kyuubi aging. Ever since they went into Michiko's mindscape and got shut down by the Kyuubi Minato has been suggesting going back since the day after it happened. Kushina supposed that Minato took it as a personal failure and wanted to do it right the second time, but he just couldn't see that Michiko was terrified of it. Michiko actually had nightmares about it, but Kushina was highly suspicious of the kyuubi causing those nightmares while Michiko slept after all they did loosened the seal.
Minato looked back down at his food ashamed of himself. "Sorry."
"Can I be excused?" Michiko asked even though she barely touched her food.
"Of course." Kushina said. Michiko got up and headed for her room. Once she was in her room she fell like a brick on her bed and jammed her face in her pillow. She wasn't going to cry she had done enough of that after she met the Kyuubi.
She knew her dad was disappointed in her. Hell she was disappointed in herself, but every time she thought about the Kyuubi she wanted to hide under her covers like a little girl. One day she would have to face the Kyuubi, but she wanted that day to be far far away. None of her friends knew yet, and Michiko wasn't planning on telling them any time soon even though she probably should. Just to have someone to talk to about it. But Michiko wanted to be able to face the Kyuubi alone before evolving her friends in things that shouldn't have to be their problem. It was probably stupid and selfish of her to take on this problem all by herself with the exception of her parents, but Michiko guess she was just stubborn like that. Michiko soon fell asleep.
She dreamed about bringing Naruto home and the whole village congratulated her and treated her as a hero. Her mom had tears in her eyes as she suffocated Naruto in a hug. Naruto was trying to get away from Kushina like all boys do when giving a hug from their mom regardless of how long they had been apart. Minato was holding on to her shoulder telling her how good she did along with the villagers praise. Michiko however couldn't care about any of that. She was just glad to have a loving and caring brother. One that would protect her in battle, one that would be next to her when she was scared and be with her when she finally confronted the Kyuubi. Although they were twins Michiko always thought of her lost brother as an older brother.
That's when the nightmare started. It was pouring outside and Naruto was standing in the front door of the house. He was wearing a coat and was carrying a bag. "Why did you bring me her Michiko? This village smells of trash and everyone in it is pathetic and you are the weakest person I've ever met. How are you even a ninja you can't even look at the Kyuubi without pissing yourself? I'm leaving this village, goodbye." Naruto said before turning around and heading into the rain.
"No Naruto please don't go!" Michiko shouted in a last ditch effort to get him to stay. It was no use the howling of the wind was the only response she got. Michiko sank to her hands and knees before bursting into tears. "Please come back. Please come back." Michiko sobbed.
Meanwhile elsewhere in Michiko's mind Kyuubi was highly enjoying himself. Who knew that Michiko wanted to see her brother so disparately? Little did she know was that the Kyuubi knew what Naruto was doing and it seemed her worst nightmare wasn't actually to far off from reality.
"You're doing great team." Kakashi said while still reading his orange book. Team 7 was currently doing the jobs that all ninja hated D-ranks. Their current job was even worse than the normal D-rank; weeding someone's garden.
Sasuke looked about ready to kill someone. "Kakashi why do I have to do these pointless missions? We should be out doing a real mission or at the very least training. This isn't going to make us better ninja."
"Clam down Sasuke. Everyone has to do these missions, so stop complaining and get to work." Kakashi said from the sidelines.
"I think Sasuke is right. We need to do real mission." Sakura said agreeing with Sasuke. "What do you think Michiko?" Sakura said only to stop when she turned around to look at Michiko. Michiko looked like she was in a different world. Her eyes were glazed over and it seemed like she hadn't heard the conversation at all. She was still weeding like she was on automation. "Michiko are you ok?" Sakura asked.
Michiko slowly turned her head to look at Sakura with her blank eyes. "Yeah I'm fine." She said before returning to her work. Michiko was of course not fine. She had gotten little to no sleep last night because of her nightmares. She was honestly kind of glad they were doing D-rank mission. She didn't think she would be alert enough to handle anything higher or any training. This was something she could do without thinking too hard about it.
The job was finished sometime around noon, so team 7 walked to the Hokage's to see if there were any D-rank missions left. When they got there the Hokage was doing his own D-rank missions however if you asked him he considered it an S-class mission on a good day. This of course was paperwork.
"Team 7 reporting a successful D-rank mission." Kakashi said.
Minato looked up at the team. "Well it looks like you did a go job and its only noon so would you like another mission?" Minato asked.
"Yes we would." Kakashi said, but right after Sasuke interjected.
"But we would like a C-rank instead of a D-rank." Sasuke said obliviously tried of doing all these D-ranks.
Kakashi looked down at Sasuke thinking if he should grant his request or not. In the end he decided that the team was prepared for it. "Yes if we could we would like a C-rank mission." Kakashi said causing Sasuke and Sakura to become very cheerful.
Minato looked at team 7 carefully. This was after all the team his daughter was on and putting her on a C-rank so soon just didn't sit right with him. He was thinking about denying there request with his daughter looking so unfit for duty. Then aging a C-rank mission could boost her confidence and them maybe she would be ready to take a shot at the Kyuubi aging. "Ok Kakashi I'll give your team a C-rank be at the gates tomorrow at 8 o'clock."
"Then we will take are leave." Kakashi said. They left the office with Sasuke grinning on the way out. He was finally going to be able to show his skills on a real mission.
Later that day Michiko was he her room packing for the mission. She was looking a lot better. She had taken a nap after getting the C-rank, and to her surprise didn't have any nightmares. Maybe it was because there was a possibility that Michiko could die if she was too tried, and the Kyuubi didn't want to die with her. But since she got that rest, it finally hit her on what this mission meant. It was her first real chance to look for Naruto. She knew that all teams that were sent out were given a secondary mission to look for him, so she wasn't likely to find him on her first mission. However her parents did say that she would be the one to find him. So she was hopeful that she would be able to do what the anbu after twelve years of searching couldn't. In reality she was probably delusional in thinking she would find Naruto on her first mission.
After Michiko finished packing she went downstairs to the kitchen were her mom had made her favorite meal; ramen. It was only her mom and her at the table as her dad was still working. "So I hear you going on a C-rank mission tomorrow." Kushina said. She would be lying if she wasn't worried about Michiko, but she trusted her and she knew just how bad those stupid D-ranks were and didn't what her daughter put thought anymore of that suffering.
"Yes I am and I'm super excited because this is my first real chance to look for Naruto." Michiko said stuffing her face with ramen. Kushina was a little taken back. Even though she had never seen her brother she was looking for him the hardest. Kushina couldn't help but smile at how great of a daughter she turned out to be. After dinner Michiko went up to her room and had a nightmare free night.
*Takumi Village*
Naruto was sitting cross-legged in the mine tunnel where Riku, Yukiko and him did their training. He was focusing hard on his hand. As he was concentrating red bubbly chakra emerged from the palm of his hand. It speared out so it covered the majority of his hand and the bottom half of his finger so it looked like he was wearing fingers gloves like Yukiko. Naruto got it to stabilize for a few minutes before it disappeared all at once. After that Naruto fell on his back breathing heavily.
He had been trying to prove that he did have enough of the Kyuubi's chakra to use in battle. However he had been at this for weeks and he could practically hear the Kyuubi telling him that it was worthless. The only thing Naruto had been able to do was make that glove, but every time he tried to extended by adding more of the Kyuubi's he couldn't like there wasn't any more chakra to add which was probably the case. Also making and holding that glove required kill-me-now levels of concentration. Levels he couldn't get in battle or doing anything else for the matter.
Naruto laid there for a while thinking about if he should experiment more with his new found chakra or scrap the exercise as it didn't seem to be producing any beneficial results. He didn't have much time to think it over, however as he heard someone walking towards him. The person got pretty close to Naruto then stopped behind him.
Naruto didn't look to see who it was because he already knew. "What do you want Riku?" Naruto asked in a bored tone.
"It's not what I want it's what the boss wants. We have been assigned a very interesting mission." Riku said handing Naruto a scroll. Naruto sat up and started reading it. The further he read into it the wider his smile became. After he was finished he stood up looking a lot more energetic then he had been a moment ago.
"Your right Riku this is an interesting mission." Naruto said as he started to walk away and towards the exit of the mine. "I guess we better hurry and tell Yukiko, after all the land of waves is pretty far away.
"Has all this new chakra training made you lazy because the land of waves is actually really close?" Riku said as he started following Naruto.
"Whatever I just want to get their within the day because we don't know how long are target is planning on staying." Naruto said.
*Somewhere in the Land of Fire*
Michiko was not happy. The C-rank mission was turning out to be as boring as all the other D-rank missions. The first problem was their client. He was an old bridge builder by the name of Tazuna and the first think he did when he saw them was call them snot-nose kids; an insult that Michiko took special offence to.
The other thing was all they would be doing this entire mission would be walking. The mission details said they were escort Tazuna and protecting him from bandits, but what bandit would attack a bridge builder let alone a bridge builder with four ninja guarding him.
Michiko was so mad about this whole situation that when they passed a puddle of water Michiko thought of kicking it in anger, but decided against it because it would make her seem immature. They keep of walking until suddenly a chain warped around Kakashi and split him in half. It happened so suddenly that the team didn't have time to react. Then two ninja appeared and tried to attack Tazuna. Michiko took out a kunai and blocked the one with the gantlet while Sasuke blocked the other one. Sakura well she was just content with watching over the bridge builder.
Once aging the ninja attacked Michiko with his gantlet and Michiko had to dodge to keep from getting her faced sliced in half. The main problem was that Michiko had way less experience then this guy and it showed because right when she ducked the ninja kicked her in the face sending her back a couple feet.
After that attack Michiko tried to get back into a fighting position, but when she did she saw the other ninja that attack them sent flying into a tree by none other than Sasuke. This made Michiko even madder than before. Why was Sasuke able to fight the attacking ninja toe-to-toe while Michiko was struggling to stay alive? So when the ninja once aging went to attack Michiko he wasn't prepared for her anger filled attacks. First Michiko threw her kunai at incredible speed for a genin.
The ninja didn't expect for his target to throw her only real defense at him, so he only barley blocked it with his gantlet. When he did however he noticed his target doing some hand signs and after she was finished there were about ten of her. "Well shit." He said right before the Michiko clones charged at him with Kunais griped in both hand.
Being forced to go on defense and having to fight ten different copies of the same person was not ideal, but all things considered he wasn't doing too badly. He had managed to destroy three of the clones and had only received minor injuries. In the middle of fighting the clones he felt something grab his shoulder. He turned his head expecting to see another clone. What he saw however was the jounin ninja that he cut in half, but he wasn't cut in half in fact he looked perfectly fine. That was the last thing the ninja saw before a punch to the face knocked him out.
After that Kakashi congratulated team 7 on how they reacted to the threat and made sure to leave Tazuna guarded. Then he proceeded to integrate the two Ninja that attacked them while Tazuna was forced to spill the beans on why there were ninja hunting him down. Tazuna told then about a man named Gato and how he had complete control over the land of waves. Apparently the bridge that Tazuna was building would break Gato's hold on the island. So Gato hired ninja to kill Tazuna. Which Kakashi confirmed when he was done with his interrogation.
"So we have an A-rank missing nin by the name of Zabuza after us which means this missions has risen from a C-rank to an A-rank." Kakashi stated after his interrogation. "So we should go back to the village and pass this mission off to a team more suited to a task."
"Kakashi-sensei I think we should complete the mission we did promise we would after all." Michiko said mad that they finally got some action and Kakashi was going to take that away from her.
"Michiko this is way out of your league and besides if we do this your mom's going to kill me for putting you in so much danger."
"I think we should continue the mission too Kakashi-sensei." Sasuke said.
"I agree with Sasuke." Sakura said a bit hesitantly. Kakashi was a little shocked at his student's willingness to put their life's on line to help some guy who lied to them and they only meet a few hours ago, however, isn't this what he taught them.
"Ok will continue the mission and help Tazuna. Kakashi said giving them his eye smile.
Team 7 looked relived that Kakashi decided to support them. "You guys are really something." Tazuna said looking like he was about ready to cry.
"Don't worry about it. We promised didn't we?" Michiko said.
"What's with all this fog?" Sakura complained. Team 7 made it to the land of waves and hadn't run into any more trouble, yet.
"How much farther is your house?" Kakashi asked not liking the sudden fog that had rolled in.
"It not too much father." Tazuna said.
This didn't do anything to settle Kakashi nervousness. If they were that close then Zabuza should have come already, and just as he was thinking about it he heard a whizzing noise. "Get down!" Kakashi yelled.
Thankfully team 7 and Tazuna were quick enough to avoid getting their heads sliced off by a large blade that was now stuck in a tree with none other than Zabuza standing on top of it. "Well what do you know it's Kakashi the copy ninja. I can see now how you were able to bet the demon brothers. I well enjoy taking your life."
"Stand back and guard Tazuna." Kakashi said holding his arm out to tell them not to come any closer. "I'll take care of Zabuza." Kakashi lifted his head band to revel his sharingan. Sasuke was shocked to see that someone outside of the uchiha clan had it.
Then faster than any of the genin could hope to see Zabuza and Kakashi traded blows. The fight seemed to be pretty even until Zabuza captured Kakashi in a water prison. "Kakashi-sensei!" Michiko yelled. "Guys we have to get him out of there." Michiko said turning to her team for help.
"What are we supposed to do he's a jounin?" Sakura said pointing to Zabuza who was making a water clone. "While we're genin."
"I think I have an idea." Michiko said as she at Sasuke and began planning their attack.
The plan actually worked. They were able to free Kakashi though a combo of shadow clones and the shadow shuriken jutsu. This forced Zabuza to break the water prison. Now they were watching Kakashi nail Zabuza with a water dragon. After Zabuza hit a tree Kakashi was about to deliver the finishing blow, but a mist hunter nin beat him to it. Soon after the hunter nin disappeared along with Zabuza's body.
"Well you guys did a good job there." Kakashi said sounding very weak.
"Kakashi-sensei we need to get you to Tazuna's house." Michiko said worriedly.
"I'll be fine it just some exhaustion. I'm more worried about that hunter nin." Kakashi said.
"You can worry about that later right now you need to rest." Sakura said. Then they started walking towards Tazuna's house. No one notice the invisible chameleon(1) that had been sitting in a tree watching the whole fight. After Kakashi and his team left the area the chameleon ran back to its master to give him the report.
The chameleon Naruto had summoned had just given its report and then vanished in a puff of smoke. "Well it looks like we found are target." Naruto said.
"Of course we found are target Takumi's information it top notch." Riku said.
"You know just because we found are target doesn't mean you two get to relax. We still need a plan. We didn't know that those ninjas would show up and we need to account for them." Yukiko said sternly.
"Yeah whatever we'll make a plan, but right now let's get some rest because I'm tried from running all the way here." Naruto said as he lied down on the ground looking like he was going to take a nap right there.
"Wait you idiot you still need to help us set up a perimeter!" Yukiko yelled.
"Relax Yukiko your yelling is going to attracted more attention than Dwarf's snoring." Riku said. "Besides judging from the fight both sides are to injured to look for a third party that they don't know exists, so we don't need a perimeter." Riku said also getting on the ground.
"How can you guys be so laid back? After all the mission has completely changed with these new arrives." Yukiko said more to herself then her team.
A day later Michiko and the rest of team 7 were working on the tree climbing exercise Kakashi had shown them. Kakashi wasn't doing so great he had used up a lot more chakra then they had originally thought, so he was now confined to a crutch. Worse yet was that Kakashi had told them that more than likely Zabuza was still alive and had an assistant. Which was why he had bumped up their training so when Zabuza came they would be ready or at least better prepared.
After the hours of work team 7 decided to call it quits for the day. Surprisingly Sakura was the only one to actually complete the exercises. Sasuke and Michiko got about half way up the tree before having to stop. Michiko parents had offered to train her in the past, but she always turned them down for two reasons. One no matter what her dad said she knew he was just too busy to spend large amounts of time teaching her. The second more important one was that she wanted to be able to make friend in the academy, and it would be much harder if she was so much stronger than them.
Team 7 all sat down at the table were Tazuna's daughter had made them some dinner. They were all eating heavily due to the training they were just doing when a little boy came down the stairs. Michiko had seen him a little bit before and believed Tazuna said his name was Inari. "Why are you guys even here. Don't you know no one can stop Gato! He's going to kill you all!" Inari shouted.
Sasuke sent a glare at Inari while Sakura looked offended. Michiko however just stared at him with a slight smile. "Hey what are you smiling for? Don't you know you're going to die?!" Inari shouted yet aging.
"I wouldn't worry about that." Michiko said taking another bite from her food.
"Oh yeah and how do you know!" Inari shouted tears building up in his eyes.
"Because I can't die." Michiko said with a foxlike smile. "You see I made a promise. A promise too my parents that I would find my twin brother and bring him back. Until that promise is fulfilled I'm not going to die."
Inari apparently didn't know how to respond, but tears were now running down his face. "Whatever just because you said you aren't going to die doesn't mean you won't." He said, but lacking the anger he had before as he headed back upstairs.
The next couple of days went along smoothly. Two people would guard Tazuna as he worked on the bridge and the third one would work on the tree climbing exercise until it was time to switch with one of the people on guard duty. Not like anything happened to Tazuna while he was building. Kakashi had predicted that Zabuza wouldn't be active for about a week, but you never knew what could happen so they still guarded Tazuna.
Michiko had successfully finished the tree exercise and felt unbelievably proud of herself. Although Sasuke had done it too so it wasn't that much of a success. She was seating by a tree in a pretty meadow she had stumbled across. She still had a little time before it was her turn to Guard Tazuna, but right now she just wanted to relax. She didn't realize how tried she actually was and fell asleep.
"Excuses me but you'll caught a cold sleeping out here." A voice said cause Michiko to wake up. When she opened her eyes she saw a beautiful girl in a kimono and holding a basket full of herbs. Them Michiko saw where the sun was and stood up in a panic.
"Oh crap I'm so late." Michiko said getting ready to run off, but stopped when she realized she should probably thank the girl who woke her up. "Thank you misses for wakening me up, but I really have to go."
"It's quite ok. My name Haku and by the way I'm a guy." Haku said with a very girly smile.
Michiko deadpan not expecting that. "Are you sure?" Michiko asked no matter how rude the question seemed.
"Yes I'm sure." Haku said not looking the least bit offended. " Didn't you say you were late for something?"
"Yeah I got to go meet up with my team." Michiko said as she started running towards the bridge.
"Are they your special people?" Haku asked before she was out of ear shot.
Michiko stop running just long enough to look back. "I guess you could say that, but they're not the only people special to me. In fact I lost one a long time ago and I going to find him one of these days." Michiko then ran off without another word.
Haku was glad she had the chance to learn a little about the people she would be facing granted he didn't get anything particular useful. He stared grazing the meadow for more herbs to help Zabuza who was still bedridden. As he had been gartering herbs for a couple minutes something very unexpected happened. A kunai came flying out of nowhere. Haku instinctively moved her head out of the way to avoid a killing blow. Only to notice there was a paper bomb attracted to it.
The bomb blew up and smoke engulfed Haku. When the smoke cleared however Haku was standing there relatively unhurt. He had brought up his basket to use as a shield before the paper bomb went off. Unfortunately a basket wasn't really built to withstand and explosion as such the basket was destroyed along with all the herbs. Haku's hand was also slightly red, but overall it wasn't too bad.
Haku looked around for his attacker with a dozen questions racing though his mind. 'Who is this person? Why did he attack me? Is this person from the leaf? If so how did they know I was the hunter nin that help Zabuza?' While he was thinking another kunai came flying at him. This time however he was prepared. He dodged out of the way and did some hand signs. "Secret Technique: Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death (2)." The mist in the air formed into hundreds of water needles before shooting out in the direction the Kunai came from.
Haku saw a figure jump out of the way of the needles and land in front of her. The figure was male even if Haku couldn't see his face due to a black jacket that had the hood covering his face. "Who are you?" Haku said.
"You know most people ask for a person's name before they try to kill them with water needles." The figure said teasingly.
"I wouldn't have done that if you hadn't tried to blow me up." Haku said.
The figure just shrugged. "I guess but that's all in the past. We should think about the present." The figure threw another kunai at Haku. "Like how I'm trying to kill you now."
Haku threw a senbon and it collided with the kunai in midair. Haku didn't watch it for long however as the figure was running towards him. Haku threw more senbons at him, but he managed to dodge ever one. When the figure came close enough Haku tried to stab him with the senbon in her hand. When he did the figure moved to the left and punched him in the stomach causing Haku to lean forward a little. He brought his senbon back up to stab the figures head, but the figure saw it and jumped back a few feet.
'This guy is strong looks like I'll have to take him seriously.' Haku though. "Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals." Haku said. The figure was surprised to be suddenly surrounded by mirrors that looked like they were made out of ice with an image of Haku inside each one of them.
While the figure was examining the mirrors he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. He quickly pulled out the senbon that seemed to have come from one of the mirrors. "This will be your grave." Haku said from the mirrors. "But I would still like to know the name of the person who attacked me.
The figured looked pissed that it had been caught off guard. "It Dwarf." Although he said Dwarf, like it was it was a word only used to describe someone you hate.
"Then Dwarf this is where you die." Haku said as she threw Senbons from the mirrors. Dwarf was prepared this time however and rolled out of the way. Once he got up he raced to one of the mirrors and punched it. The mirror however didn't even crack. "That's not going to work not even a great fireball can harm these mirrors." Haku then threw more senbons at Dwarf who was quick to dodge.
"I see." Dwarf said. "Unfortunately I don't have a jutsu strong enough to break these mirrors, so it looks like I'm trapped." Dwarf however was smiling so wide that Haku could see it under his hood. Haku found this very strange and decided he needed to end this. All his images pulled out senbons and threw them at Dwarf.
When he did Dwarf suddenly did a bunch of hand signs. "Wind Dome." A dome of air currents suddenly surrounded Dwarf and the senbons that had been thrown were set every which way. "You know senbons are good because there smaller and faster than Kunai, but there harder to use because there lighter and more effected by the wind." Dwarf said.
Haku was pissed he tried to throw more senbons at Dwarf, but they were just set off in a random direction. Haku even tried to calculate the speed of the wind, but Dwarf would change the direction of the wind along with its speed ever so often. This made it impossible for Haku to throw a senbon and let it ride the wind and hit his target. In other words he made a barrier inside his barrier.
"It must suck that you don't have anything heavier to throw because then it might pass though my wind dome." Dwarf said with a grin. The truth was that even if Haku was using Kunais he would be able to send they off courses. The wind blew faster the more chakra he put into it. If he put a lot of chakra in it then it could blow a person back, but right now he was just putting in minimal charka to block those senbons.
Haku not having very many options just kept throwing senbons hoping that one would get though and hit it target. After a while of this, Dwarf noticed something pretty interesting. Haku was getting slower. When he first put up the mirrors Dwarf didn't even know that he was jumping from mirror to mirror, but now even if it was just a blur of color he could clearly see Haku jumping from mirror to mirror. There was only one explanation: This jutsu used far too much chakra.
Haku was also feeling himself slow down, but he didn't know what else to do besides keep throwing senbons. The only other option was to fly towards Dwarf himself and try to stab him, but just by looking at Dwarf he could tell that there was more to his wind dome then he was giving up. Haku guessed he could make to more powerful to either blow him away or cut him up when he tried to get close. Whatever it was would put Haku in a bad position. Maybe he could he could run back to base and wait for Zabuza to heal then they could fight Dwarf. Haku shook his head. That wouldn't work; Dwarf would just chase after him and then he would find Zabuza in his weaken state and kill him.
Haku's eyes widened in realization Dwarf wasn't here for him he was here for Zabuza. Dwarf probably has friends attacking Zabuza right now and with Zabuza so weak he couldn't possibly defended himself. Haku needed to get back to Zabuza right now. During Haku realization however he lost focus and slowed down considerably. Dwarf noticed this too. He jumped from his dome and grabbed Haku by the neck.
Haku couldn't move and was having trouble breathing. "I guess you figured out what was going on. If only you could have kept your focus then you might have gotten away from me." Dwarf said in a sadistic tone. "But then my friends who have probably already killed Zabuza would have killed you too. So I guess it doesn't matter."
"You leave Zabuza alon-" Haku yelled right before Dwarf crushed his throat effectively killing him. The ice mirror fell to the ground and broke with Haku's death.
"I wonder if Riku and Yukiko killed Zabuza yet. After all we get to keep the bounty we get for turning his head in." Dwarf said decided to leave Haku's body in the meadow. He didn't have a bounty so there was no point in taking the head and Dwarf didn't do anything that would point to him being the killer. When the body was found people would just think one of Gato's thugs did it. Or maybe if team 7 found the body they think it was Zabuza who did it. Dwarf smiled at the thought before walking away.
Zabuza was not happy. He was confined to a bed and had been for a few days. He wanted to go back and kill Kakashi, but it looked like it would be another few days before that could happen. He heard the room to his door open and just assumed it was Haku and didn't even look. Until they started walking towards him. Yes 'they' Zabuza heard two pair of feet. He turned his head to see a boy and a girl walking towards him. "Were you sent by Gato?" Zabuza asked but used his left hand to grab his sword lying on the other side of the bed.
"No we weren't sent by Gato?" The boy said as he walked right up to Zabuza's bed. "But we're probably here for the same reason, to take your head." Zabuza bought his blade around the bed to chop that boys head off, but he grabbed it by the half circle towards the bottom of the blade and stopped it dead in its tracks. "Wow the Executioner's Blade one of the seven legendary blades. What a fine sword." The boy said mockingly. "I do have to question why someone would make a blade that has a part where the enemy could grab it however."
'Damn it of only I wasn't so weak. He would have never been able to stop that." Zabuza though. He was going to pull the blade back and try aging, but for some reason his body wasn't listening to him in fact he could feel his grip on the sword loosening. Then Zabuza saw it. That bastard was sending lighting chakra to Zabuza muscles to paralyze them and he was using the sword as a conductor. He also could no longer move his hand so he was stuck being forced to take in the electricity.
It didn't take too long for Zabuza to lose his grip completely. He couldn't even move a finger. "Well who knew all it would take was a little electricity to bring down one on the seven swordsmen. What a letdown." They boy said before he threw a kunai into Zabuza's head killing him. "Yukiko you cut off the head and seal it along with the sword. We might get a bonus if we bring back the sword."
"Why do you I have to do all the dirty work while you get to do the fun stuff?" Yukiko said with a pout.
"Because you drew the shortest straw so you have to cut off the head. While Dwarf drew that longest, and got to fight Zabuza's assistant. Lucky bastard " Riku said angrily.
The days came and went. The bridge was nearly finished. Kakashi was healed, and yet Zabuza didn't come. Team 7 along with Kakashi were on the bridge keeping watch since today was the day the bridge would be finished. Kakashi had wanted everyone on guard today since if Zabuza was going to attack this would be the last day he could. Team 7 had also completed tree walking so there was no point in leaving one behind.
Michiko, Sasuke and Sakura were helping out the building just to pass the time. However when they were nearing completion a scream of pain was heard. Team 7 and Kakashi got in to position fully expecting Zabuza to start killing everyone in sight, but Zabuza wasn't there instead it was a short man in a business suit along with an army of thugs.
"Tazuna I've given plenty of warning, but now I have no choice. Men kill them all!" The man who was presumably Gato shouted. Kakashi and team 7 were ready to fight, but before they could they heard a crowd gathering behind them. They turned to see half the town all armed with clubs and pitchforks had shown up.
"Gato how could you!" One of the mobsters shouted. Gato looked confused however. "We found the body it's not like you hide! We saw a girl with her throat cursed out in the meadow! What she wouldn't get in bed with you so you had one of your thugs kill her! Well we won't stand for it we're taking our town back!" With that said the whole coward charged at Gato and his men with team 7 helping out.
The battle was over quickly. Gato's men just couldn't handle ninja and the ones that weren't killed fled. Gato himself had been run though with a pitchfork. After that the bridge was built team 7 left with the village cheering them off. It was kind of anticlimactic.
"Why didn't Zabuza attack us?" Sakura asked the rest of the team as they were walking back to the leaf.
"I don't man maybe he decided that what he was doing was wrong." Michiko said a little let down that they didn't get to fight him.
"I doubt that he probably ran away after hearing we had an uchiha and the Hokage's daughter on our team." Sasuke said sounding pretty sure of himself.
"What do you think Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura asked.
Kakashi looked up from his book to think about it. "I don't think any of your guesses were right. I think something stopped Zabuza from coming. What that could be however I have no idea." That was the only conversation team 7 had the whole way back to the leaf.
(1) So a helpful reviewer remaindered me that the contract was the chameleon contract not the lizard contract. It was my mistake so just know that Naruto can summon Chameleons.
(2) I've also decided that I'll only be writing the attack names in English just so you know.
