Lily was late, again. There weren't any surprises there, she had overslept and missed breakfast and was running through the common room. She was planning on going to her first class, herbology. Somehow she had the idea that she could in fact duck into the kitchens, grab a piece of fruit or whatever was within her reach to get her by 'til lunch and put on her socks in ten minutes for her first class, on the other side of the school.
She almost overlooked at Remus and Sirius, their legs intertwined, Remus holding a steaming mug of teas in his hands and his head resting on Sirius beating chest. They both held the typical signs that they had not slept, a loss of colour in their faces, dark bruise like smudges under their eyes and a weathered glassy look in their eyes. However, this did not calculate, if it had been merely the case that they hadn't slept at all last night, Remus would not look much more gaunt than Sirius did, who looked rather healthy, just a tad worried. Remus was huddled over and the oversized knitted jumper made him look like a cripple old man.
Lily shook her head, surely it was a trick of the light and Remus didn't look underweight. He had been looking well a few days before, you can't lose weight that quickly.
Sirius, knowing that Lily was staring in concern, popped his head up, trying not to disturb Remus sleeping.
"Er- Remus got the flu. I stayed up looking after him." Explained Sirius. Lily had never heard Sirius sound lie that, he sounded hoarse, like a doctor looking after his patient.
"Why didn't you take him to Madam Pomfrey?" Lily asked, trying to get a better look at Remus.
"He's more comfortable here, besides, she gave us everything he'll need." He said, jerking his head to the array or potion bottles on the coffee table.
Lily examined them. "I don't think these are for the flu…" She frowned.
Sirius went red. "You better get to class, and can you tell Professor Sprout that I'm looking after Remus and I'll be late?"
Lily bit her lip. "Sure." She hurried out the door.
Those had been post-full moon potions… for werewolves. Lily thought clumsily. Oh poor Remus, poor Remus.
