Chapter six: A bed?
Three hours and eighteen minutes.
Three hours and five minutes.
Two hours and fifty three minutes.
God, this was taking forever. I had never felt so restless in my life. Usually, I was comfortable, and collected when it came to sitting still for long periods of time. But the girl beside me had drifted off into a sleep, not that I could entirely blame her. She had gone through a lot in the last twenty four hours. With the reunion with me, undergoing my sisters mood swing, hearing Demetri and Felix's story, and of course... The brutal murder of her friends boyfriend. On top of all that; witnessing my sister execute someone. That was enough to ensure exhaustion for any normal being. Renesmee was no exception, though she had held out rather well. She was curled up in a ball, eyes delicately closed so that her thick lashes brushed the skin under her eye. Her lips, pink as ever plump and in a line. Her breathing soft, and calm; like it always was when she slept. I knew I missed being around her, deathly so, but it didn't strike me just how much I missed it until now; when I finally had it back, and she was in an arm length of distance; closer even, due to the fact she was leaning close to me. So close that her cheek was almost resting against my shoulder. A small strand of hair fell to cover her cheek, and I was quick to brush it away; letting my cold fingers trail across her soft, warm, heaven like cheek. Her breath hitched for a minor second, and her lips curved during her slumber.
For the smallest of seconds, my eyes drifted to her hand; resting on her stomach. The other was under her head, so there was no way in hell I was going to risk pulling that out from her. That would surely wake her. But the other one? Just laying there... Waiting to be taken. To let me in on her most vivid, and sometimes thrilling dreams. I'd been gone from her so long, and I realised it was selfish, but I wanted to be a part of her; with her even while she slept.
Perhaps watching her dream, I might be able to calm myself down? Maybe even feel like I myself was getting some mental rest. Human's didn't know how good they had sleep truly was. Taking it for advantage, when there were immortals out there that were eternally exhausted. Myself included in that scenario. What I wouldn't give just to sleep for five minutes. Let myself be lost within my own mind, and have somewhat of a rest from this constant train of thought.
Gently, I let my hand take hold of hers, and my head to rest back. My eyes fell to a close, and the outside world became a blur. Swirling colors of of gold, and white, pinks and blues all clouded around my mind; soft music playing in my ear. I was no longer in the world of the living, nor the living dead. But the world that was Renesmee's mind.
The first thing that came into the clear, was the scene; a soft lit room; illuminated with small candles here and there, and a single lamp, beside a deep brown sofa. Upon it, two girls, sitting comfortably; feet up. Two boys on the floor, hugging up to one another. Automatically, I recognised one. Dark brown hair, cropped and spiked into a stylish manner, light tanned skin and bright green eyes. He wore a smile, and rightfully so. For the male on his arm was scooped up under his arm, grinning also. Nick, the brown haired male, and the other must be Gary. That much was apparent. Idle chit chat seemed to be going on, while soft music played in the background. My eyebrows narrowed; trying to figure where I had heard it before...
"Alright, s'mores are done!" Reny called; coming into view from a door; suddenly stealing my whole attention. The group of friends seemed to cheer, and lounge forward; grabbing at all the... Well, ew.
Renesmee took a seat onto a lone chair, bringing her legs up and chewing happily on this thing called a 's'more.' Honestly, they smelled repulsive. Marshmallow melted onto crackers? Honestly, what the hell were humans doing with their lives?! That thing... Was a cavity on a plate.
"Mm, right... as I was saying," one of the girls said. Wiping the crumbs from her lips and brushing her hands. Her hair was wild, and free. Blonde and bushy. That was the perfect description of it, really. A darn bush. Her light blue eyes flicked across each of the members, and continued with her story. "The last intimate thing I had with a guy... Was probably last summer. At Larry Halls party."
"That was last weekend!" The other girl chanted, rolling her eyes.
"Same thing."
"With who?" Nick, the boy whom I had seen dead a mere few hours ago, asked.
"Pft, please. I was drunk, I can hardly remember what we did exactly, let alone his name."
"Ooooh," who I presumed to be Gary chanted. "Lana's a slut."
"Slut?! Please. I prefer... Curious."
"Curiously slutty." The retaliated, earning a laugh from the group; along with a pillow being thrown at his head.
Dear god. Did I really want to be listening to this? Some teenage ramble of what base they got to with the opposite sex?
"What about you, Ren?"
Ren... People here called her something around my nickname for her. Well, that put me at ease. No more of this 'Nessie' crap. Renesmee cleared her throat, and blushed a bright red. Oh, I did love it when she went that color. I would be happy to sit in a stone like trance for the rest of eternity, just to watch her cheeks burst into life over, and over again.
"Uhm..." She paused, awkwardly. "I've not really been... Intimate all that much."
The group might have not noticed, but I sure as hell did. Her hand moved to the small pendant around her throat, hanging on her torso upon some baggy pajamas. My heart swelled.
"All that much?" The girl who had spoken the previous story pressed; Lana I think they called her? "Your a virgin?"
"No!" Renesmee practically yelled, defending herself; before sinking back down into her seat and bushing all the more. "No... I'm not."
"Well, spill the details."
Renesmee let out a small breath, her hands holding the pendant and her eyes being cast on it. Looking for the strength? Probably.
"My family had a visitor last year... He was having family problems, so he came to stay with them until his father sent for him again." Renesmee mused. "I didn't really like him at the beginning. To be honest... He downright annoyed me. And then, my mom made me begin to spend some time with him, because he was my age... And we kinda hit it off. He helped me in so many ways. Getting asked to prom by my dream guy... Becoming a real person, y'know?" She paused a little, her eyes moving up to find the group. "He went away after we had a huge argument... And I was crushed. It was only then that I realized just how much I cared about him. I didn't think I'd ever see him again... I said some things I shouldn't have. But he came back. Prom night, he came back and we danced and everything was magical and..."
"You did the dirty." Gary smirked.
"No! He wouldn't... For a while. He wanted me to tell him I loved him first. And when I did... It was like magic. They said the first time hurts... Not with him. He was so gentle, and caring, and careful..." Renesmee let out a breath, letting herself fall back into the chair more; hands resting onto the arm rests. "That, besides meeting him, was the best day of my life."
A small silence brushed through for a few seconds, until Gary spoke up yet again.
"What's his name?"
"Alec."
I smiled to myself; an overwhelming feeling of warmth rising around me.
"Got a picture? He sounds hot.."
"He is." Renesmee laughed, standing up and scooting through the house; vanishing out of a door. This must be her home, then? She re-emerged a few seconds later; holding the frame picture, identical to the one I have displayed within my dorm. She held it out for the boy, whom took it quickly and scanned the faces within the frame. A huddle made, for all of them wanted to gaze.
"Damn. He's not hot... He's gorgeous!" One muttered.
"Looks of an angel."
"Does he have a brother?" Gary interjected rather bluntly, and unsurprisingly - to the group so it seemed. The burst into laughter, and I was somewhat relaxed at the fact she had settled so easily into her new home. I knew that moving away from Forks would have been a big change for her. After all, she did put up such a fuss. Undergoing that drastic - and somewhat humiliating - first kiss. Tasteful, but it was rather apparent she had no idea what she was doing. Renesmee had came a long way since then. Her lips had been so thin, and unmoving - it was apparent that she may have not wanted it, but she had no choice; apparently. Now, they were like hungry lions fighting for the last piece of meat on the carcass. My lips being the carcass, of course. From the looks of it, she has been nothing but entirely faithful; to my dismay. There was a period of time I wished she might move on... Find someone else, be happy and whatnot. But, if there is anything I had learnt in my time with Renesmee, was that she was incredibly, and undoubtedly, stubborn.
My hand idly squeezed a little tighter on hers, which caused her to mumble and shift; so her head was resting against the window panel. Good thing, too. For a hand pressed to my shoulder; stealing my attention from the playful dreams of Renesmee. Jane stood, bemused to say the least, with encountering my hand parched within the half-breed. A small crease formed in the apex between her brows, giving the impression she wished to talk. Odd now, that she had so much to say to me, when merely days ago she wouldn't so much as breath in my direction. Unwillingly, I let Renesmee's hand fall, and stood from my seat; following my sister to the back of the plane, beside the toilets. From the sound, and quite frankly the smell, someone was in there. I had to stop myself from turning my nose up at the stench.
"Brother,"
"I know what this is about Jane..." I mused, eyes meeting hers.
"Then you will know Caius won't be thrilled with this knowledge." She stated, evidence that her jaw was clenching; and she was speaking through her teeth. In all do respect, Jane spoke like this with everything that bothered her. The fact the mutts were attending the 'party' or whatever Aro was calling it didn't appeal to me either. But it was out of our hands. They could be at the castle already for all we knew! Jesus Christ. Caius could have already slaughtered them... Wouldn't surprise me, actually. The glare in his eyes when he had first set eyes on them showed he wanted them dead there and then. His grudge with the moon children was that strong, he merely wanted every being that resembled at wolf slaughtered. After all, they did try to kill him. The rage that had boiled through him, it was enough to taste. He hunted night and day, wanting to rid them of existence altogether. And quite frankly, I would have done the same.
"It's out of our hands, sister." I finally summarised, opening my eyes which had closed.
"She holds great nerve asking them to atten-"
"She did no such thing." I defended, in a harsh tone. "They invited themselves. As much as I dislike it myself, Jane; one of them is indeed her imprint. From what I have read, it pains it to be away from he-"
"You read on them?!" She let out a bitter, disgusted cry; her eyes growing wide. The look in her eyes were that of somewhat seeing someone she had never seen before. Well, she would need to get used to it. I had changed, and for the better.
"I had to do something to occupy my time while my dear twin sister had me in secluded from the rest."
"You could have used other methods to pass the time, besides reading on those mongrels. Do something worthwhile. Go out, kill, hunt, taunt... Seduce, for all I care."
I should have seen that last one coming. Seduce, as in forget about the girl I had left behind in Forks, and try to wash myself of her being around me. Jane's way of thinking was an odd, and most definitely dark way. But what she didn't understand; was I didn't want to wash myself of Renesmee. I thrived with the fact she had been the last person to touch me in such a way, even look at me with such love. Love I had never received back willingly off someone other than my sister. The mere knowledge I loved someone, and that love was returned back - with no strings attached, was beyond describing. It was a feeling I wish Jane could undergo, feel some small part of it, but such things were exactly that. Wishes. Wishes that will never come true.
"Reading seemed like a more entertaining thing. What would a mere human had to offer me?"
"Blood?" She half scoffed in mockery. "It did not have to be a human. There are willing participants on the guard. You forget Renata.."
"She has moved and, and I am not interested."
"Well, you may be if Chelsea interfered.."
"Ja-"
"Exu- Oh. Sorry. Uhm, could you please take your seats? We're landing in a few minutes." A blonde interrupted, causing both our sapphire ruby red eyes to snap to hers; probably catching her off guard. I let out a brief sigh, and nodded. Without a single word, I moved back down the aisle to my seat beside Renesmee. When I returned, she was awake. Rubbing at her eyes and stretching a little.
"Hey," She muttered groggily.
"Evening, my love. Sleep well?"
"Mm. How long was I asleep for?"
"Almost the full flight. We're here."
Renesmee let out a beaming smile, and instantly turned to look out the window. Probably to search for Volterra castle. One could only watch as she bounced in excitement, and giggled giddily.
The seatbelt sign came on, and before we knew it; we were descending from the air and touching the grounds of the rich soil of Volterra. We were home, and quite frankly; I was shitting it. Wolves, humans, vampires and royalty. What more could go wrong?
—xXx—
Everything went wrong. And when I mean everything; I meant everything.
Her parents flights were delayed due to some storm on their end, but the wolves were here. Every freaking one of them, somewhere in Volterra. Guests were beginning to arrive, the hall was being set up and Aro was freely roaming around the castle. Something he never did. Sure, he could come and go as he pleased; but that never usually happened. Just because he could, doesn't mean he did! All three of them were always resided in the throne room, or in the towers with their wives. Marcus, well he had his own little tower that he had once shared with Dydime. But that was beside the point. Aro was lurking around from the report/idle gossip we had gotten while entering the castle once again from other members (Santiago - as he rarely could keep his trap shut) and as we had expected; Caius was furious. Beyond furious. If his rage was enough to take town buildings; this whole castle - that was bigger and stronger than any normal building - would be rubble! Oh, the rage that was on his face. The moment Jane opened the throne room doors, flanked by Demetri and Felix, we received praise from Aro. Though he wasn't in his seat. He was standing, pointing and guiding on which decor should go where, and whatnot. His attention turned to our group, though. This was a little before the wolves decided to show up.
Renesmee and I lingered behind the other three, while Aro aided all his praise towards us.
"I trust the matter is taken care of?" He aimed towards Jane, how bowed her head and closed her eyes.
"It is, master."
"My child," he whispered, walking closer and clasping both hands onto her shoulders. "Well done. Very well done."
Jane's lips twitched a little; something they always did when receiving praise from him. Pleasing Aro was one of her few goals in this never ending life. He took her hand, and watched in cold blood as the whole trip became clear to him. His milky red eyes stayed alight with delight as the events unfolded to him through Jane's eyes. Then, he snapped out of it. His lips moved into a small 'o' and finally; he looked passed Demetri and Felix - who had their heads bowed - and set eyes upon us. Renesmee and myself; hands interlocked; fingers entwined. Kindred. As one. He looked as though he were having some inner battle of delight, and amazement. The beaming light that came across his face in a smile was enough to blind a blind man!
"Miss Cullen," he breathed, clasping his hands in front of his face and taking a few steps closer. I squeezed her hand merely out of habit. "What a pleasure it is to finally meet you... Older, wiser.."
Renesmee bowed her head; copying Jane, Demetri and Felix's actions? He seemed to take great pleasure in that. For the smile grew even more. I was surprised his jaw hadn't broken already. He stalked in closer, and held out his hand. "I have heard, and seen great things of you from Alec."
Her cheeks blushed a rich pink as she took his hand, and once again I could see he was taking everything in; but not really paying much attention. "You are excited for your birthday tomorrow?"
"Ever so much. Your home is beautiful..." Renesmee whispered, her eyes moving to glance around the throne room.
"Ah, it is our home now, Miss Cullen. Be free to roam the corridors and many rooms as you see fit."
"Thank you, Aro. You are too kind." She smiled in thanks, bowing her head once again.
"Nothing is too much to ask, my dea-" Aro cut off, his eyes drifting passed us and outward to the large doors behind us. Listening intently to the chaos behind it. Yelling, sneering... Caius. Only now, I realized the only two leaders in the room were Marcus, and Aro himself. Caius wasn't there, but now I knew where he was. He was storming through the corridors, yelling as he came along. His footsteps grew louder, and louder until finally the doors burst open.
"What is the meaning of this!"
"Of what, brother?" Asked Aro.
"You do not smell it?!" His eyes flicked to Renesmee, but right back.
"You were well aware young miss Cullen was coming with her clan, as are many."
"Yes, vampires; Aro. Not dogs!" Oh. Crap.
Aro's eyes shifted to me, and then Renesmee yet again in total confusion. And then as if by lightning, he remembered something he must have seen, but didn't pay attention too as he was speaking to Renesmee.
"The shape-shifters have come?"
"Master; I can explain. When the Cullen's received the invite, Jacob and his pack decided it may be best if they come for her protection."
"Is she not protected enough in our walls? This is our home, she is save. She is one of us, they are not. They have no right to be here, nor will they ever!" Caius sneered.
"I could take care of them..." Jane whispered, but I could pick out the sadistic intent in her voice. I had heard it so many a time before.
Caius looked at her for barely a second, his lips curving as if to give her permission; but Renesmee spoke up.
"Oh, no. Please!" She gasped, letting my hand fall and grabbing - actually grabbing! - Aro's cloak. As if she were begging for mercy! This was a sight I thought I would never see. One that I didn't want to see! "Jacob, he's my imprint. And well, he needs to be with me otherwise-"
"I know, my child. I know." Aro soothed, running a icy white hand over her hair as if to calm her. "Caius is just being dramatic, aren't you?"
"Aro-"
"No, Caius. These creatures may leave a vile stench wherever they may go. But, they are guests none the less. They don't hold any bonds to the moon children, nor do they seek to harm you, or any of us. They are merely here for the hybrid. If abide by our rules, and our way, then they are more than welcome. Perhaps even put an end to this small fude they are meant to have with our kind."
"I highly disagree, Aro." Caius interjected for a final time, until Aro's harsh voice finally broke down the walls.
"What I state is final. Now, return to your throne, and we will welcome these guests when they arrive. Demetri!"
Demetri was front and center within seconds.
"Wait outside with Natalia for our guests. Bring them in, and treat them with hospitality. Take Jane with you."
Jane didn't put up a fight, but I could see in her eyes she didn't really like the plan on leaving the room. She went nonetheless, followed by Demetri who closed the large doors behind him. After the loud thud, and eerie silence shifted through the hall. I wasn't quite sure what was going through any of the leaders minds at this point, apart from Caius. His thoughts were quite evident on his face at this point. I was sure Renesmee could see them also, for she gulped in that cute, almost irresistible way.
"Aro," Renesmee voiced, causing the raven black haired male to turn and set eyes on her.
"Is... Is my family here?"
Quite a reasonable question really. If the wolves had arrived, then surely the Cullen's were there. Wrong. They weren't, Aro had already sent a call from Natalia to Carlisle; and it was revealed they might be awhile upon arriving. She was somewhat sympathetic, but her eyes kept drifting to me. A sense of calm, I figured; as her hammering heart would decrease a little. I took pride in the fact I could calm her with a mere glance.
Aro and Renesmee underwent some chatter, talking about her life, what she had done in her new home, if her friends were coming; and if so - was she excited. Unneeded small talk, I presumed. As sweet and innocent as it may have seemed to Renesmee, I knew Aro better than most. He had alternative motives, and for some reason I couldn't quite get what he had stated to me out of my head.
"With all do respect, Aro.. They wouldn't allow her to be here with us without them." I stated, and his eyes sparked.
"Exactly."
It just didn't make any sense. He had no use for all of them. Merely Alice and Edward, the rest were non mandatory. There were probably thousands of those in the world; somewhere. One could only hope it didn't turn bad, and with Aro... That's what usually always happened. I didn't take much bother to such things before, but not that it revolved the woman I loved... I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in my dead, empty stomach.
Eventually, Aro dismissed us. Telling me that I should take Renesmee on a tour of her new home, and let her come to customs with her new surroundings. So now, I was leading her through the many corridors, hoping she was mapping it out in her head so she wouldn't get lost. Not that she would be lost for a while. Eventually, either myself (most probably myself) or someone would smell her scent and follow it, just to see what the little hybrid was up too. I knew curiosity would get the better of most of the guard; besides Jane. I don't think Jane would care less if she got lost. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if she purposely helped her to get lost. Isn't my sister a gem?
"Is there a way to tell rooms from one another?" She asked after a while of walking in silence. Amazingly, I hadn't felt the urge to hold her hand, or look at her while walking. I felt almost... As if we were giving a normal visitor a tour. Someone that held no emotional ti- Chelsea. I will be having words with her. Just to stop the uneasy feeling that may, or may not have, been sweeping over her, I slowed my pace and took her hand; interlocking out fingers. Her heart skipped a little.
"There are, indeed. Most dorm's within this castle have a specific marking. A symbol, or an initial telling who's is who's." I explained, leading her up to a set of winding steps. "Demetri, he has vines engraved into his door. A somewhat trail, detailing his ability. Felix, had two swords crossed over; as in duel. A fighter, somewhat of what he is." I began to list off some of the ones she should watch out for, ones she could enter and ones she couldn't. Santiago, Corin, Chelsea. The list went on. I began to tell her where rooms she could find pleasure in, which she sniggered at; and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. The library, a small music room, the garden, a game room - one that Felix and Demetri usually say within - and, to her surprise, a pool. We didn't use it, but Aro felt it may come as some use one day. Years ago it was installed; the Roman period, I believed. The floors were mosaic, of blues, and golds. She took an interest in that. And then came the question I was waiting on.
"What about yours and Jane's bedroom?"
"Our dorms?"
"Is that what you called them? I thought they were just rooms. Sorry, yeah... Dorms." She laughed.
"We find it ironic to call them 'bed rooms' as none of them really have a bed. And the ones who do... It isn't for sleeping. Which, brings me to another matter. Demetri and Heidi have a tendency to be somewhat loud time after time. If it bothers you, merely knock on the door and Demetri will get the message and quieten down." I noted, leading her further down a darkened corridor.
"Oh, alright. I'll note that. He's with Heidi... The fisher woman?"
"I suppose you could say they are 'with' one another."
"I thought he had a thing with your sister." She admitted with a giggle.
My brows instantly creased, as I turned to look at her. Coming to a halt, her eyes looked to mine worryingly.
"My sister?"
"The way they looked at one another... I figured something was going on.."
I paused, debating my answer. I was about to say that sort of thing would, could and most definitely never happen. But, would that be such a bad thing? Could this sort of thing be true? In my time of isolation from my sister and the guard, I had noticed Jane had been close around Demetri. Was it possible... No. No, no, no. Don't even think such a thing. Not when it involves your sister! I wanted to cringe at the mere thought.
"Heidi and he have been intimate for a few years now. Before you were born, actually."
"Oh, duly noted."
I nodded my head, and began to continue our walk.
"You didn't answer my question."
"You'll see soon enough, my love. Be patient."
Her arms draped over my waist; her chin resting on my shoulder as she walked. "But I wanna see your bed-room now."
"I don't have a bed.." I smirked.
"I'm good with the floor..."
My lips instantly turned into a smile, a sinister one at that. Oh, how my vixen temps me so.
"As appealing as such an invitation sounds, my darling... It would be selfish for me to take you away without sharing the beauty of the castle first."
"Be selfish. Be so selfish, you never let me leave."
There was that thought again. With Aro, and his statement. The uneasy feeling washed over me, and I knew I wouldn't feel right until I knew what was going on. There was only one person who had clarified they knew; but would not tell me yet. She would have no choice too. I needed to speak to Jane, and speak to Jane fast.
"Reny," I whispered, trying my best to ignore her soft kisses on the nape of my neck. She really wasn't making this easy. "Perhaps now isn't such a good ti-"
"Nessie?!"
Our postures came to a stop, as did my desire for her. All were turned into a aspect of rage at the mere mention of that nickname. I hadn't heard it in what? A few days? And even then, the two morons using it were merely doing it out of spite. This one, this was a real calling of that name. Someone was still calling her it, and by god, they were going to pay. No one called my Reny a loch ness monster. Not in my presence.
Turning around, Renesmee had already squealed and rushed forward. The male before me was one I had seen, perhaps once, in a lifetime. Tall, tanned, bright eyes and a curvaceous smile. His hair was a chestnut brown, swooped over to the side with gentle spikes here and there. Casually, he wore a shirt with one of those... I think they were called 'hoodies'? Or something along those lines, jeans and a pair of sneakers. He looked... Human. Hell, he had a heartbeat. I was now standing in a corridors with two hearts hammering, almost in sync. And there was the hint; if I hadn't have already known his face, I'd have known right away. Renesmee wasn't just the only hybrid in the world.
Nahuel stood with his arms wrapped around Reny, twirling her as she squealed giddily. I listened idly to the conversation once he let her down.
"I haven't seen you since two Christmases ago!" Renesmee exclaimed, slapping both her hands on either side of his face, turning it to examine him.
"Yeah, it's been a while. My aunt's kept me busy; opened a 'midnight lounge' thing in Chile, bringing in customers, and some being of this world too. So, had my hands tied. What about you, how are you?"
"College," she giggled, pointing to a.. badge on her jacket. Why hadn't I noticed this until now? She had a sorority badge. My little lover was growing up...
"Wow. How's Jacob? Still crap at hoops?"
"Ah, you know. Never gonna beat you." She laughed, nudging his arm.
"That's because I'm the dunk maste- Oh, hey... Alec, right? Was I interrupting something?"
Finally, his eyes moved to mine. Green meeting red.
"A tour, actually. Is this your room?" Renesmee answered, walking towards me with him at her heel like some lost puppy.
"Yeah, mine and my friends; I got an invite, and his cousin or something invited him to come along. So, might as well room with me, huh?"
Cousin. Rung a little bell there.
"Can't believe my little Nes is turning the big ONE EIGHT!" Nahuel let out another hug, his posture once again towering over her. I felt my fingers twitch.
"Eighteen years is nothing compared to what? You're like... a thousand now?" She laughed, pushing him away and fixing a part of her hair.
"Actually," he paused turning his eyes to me. "Thats about your age, right?"
My eyebrow creased a little. He put his hands up in surrender. "Christmas party, Renesmee got drunk and spilled the beans about you. And hey, I'm happy for you." He held out his hand. "You got a real keeper there, friend."
I examined the hand for a second before placing my own within it. "I know. And I plan to keep her, indeed."
"Good, cause if you ever let her go; be sure one of us would try sweep her up." He chuckled, letting my hand drop. I'd like to see you try 'sweep' her up from me, half-breed.
He let out a sigh, a clear of this throat and then patted his jeans. "Well, I was gonna go shower but heard your voice. So, I'll let you get back to the tour. Oh, totally check out the game room. That... Felix dude," - I rolled my eyes instantly - "Has some pretty sweet games. Guitar Hero especially. Up for a game?" He looked to me.
"I don't play."
"Ah. Alright then. You?" He looked back to Renesmee.
"You're on. And I will destroy your ass!"
"We'll see about that, sugar. Catcha' guys later." He half waved and disappeared into his room.
Renesmee was left grinning like a fool, while I stood unamused to say the least.
"Glad that he came." She muttered, turning back to me and taking my hand. Signaling to continue the tour.
I idly began to walk again, lips pressed into a slight purse. "You're friendly with the other hybrid?"
"Yeah, my family thought that bringing him in might help me... You know, seeing as I was one of a kind at some point. They didn't want me to be alone."
I suppose that made sense. But, the way he was looking at her; the little statement 'sweeping her off her feet' irritated me, much more than the unknown as to what Aro was up too. Call me the jealous type, but I didn't like people looking at what was mine. And Renesmee was mine.
She began to tell stories about Nahuel, Jacob and her; how he and Jacob hit it off after Seth talked him into playing basketball with Nahuel. The two became like best buds, and he would come visit time to time, then end up going off to hang out with the mutt. Well, anything that kept him away from Renesmee, I was glad off. Perhaps Nahuel would be a noble asset to me when it came to these wolves arriving that Caius had heard from the moment they set foot in Italy. I presumed it wouldn't be long until they arrived here. Nahuel could keep Jacob well away, and as for the other wolves... Well, those didn't bother me so much. This 'Seth' one seemed to be more into messing around, and being... Well, a kid, than an actual threat. So, if the others were more like he, and not like Jacob; then there was no problem in them being here from my view. Of course, the stench will get some getting used too. But, there were ways to mask that out. Just like a wet dog, they were just in some need of some proper... Cleansing.
We rounded another set of stairs, leading to the top floor of this part of the castle - the restricted area where not many guards set foot. Why? Well, because this was Jane and I's floor. Our dorms were located there, and when we went to our dorms, we rarely liked to be disturbed. Especially me, if I was reading, or merely trying to get some relaxation out of this neverending world. Coming to a stop in the stone corridor, dimly lit by the torches, Renesmee's words faded out as she realized where we were. Standing before us, were two large doors; arched; thick and made of oak. Dark, and engraved with personalized markings - like I had said. She let out a breath, and moved forward to one; letting her hand trail across the wood. Her fingers traced the vines with leaves, and flowers; and eventually met with a hourglass. On the top, way above our heads, carved to the utmost perfection was the single enital 'J.'
She looked to the next one, and did the same. Tracing the vines, the leaves, books here and there; and again looked up to the initial 'A.'
Two rooms, side by side for the rest of eternity; Jane and Alec's. As we were.
"May I?" She whispered, moving her hand to the rounded doorknob of my room. I bowed my head as an answer. She turned the knob until she heard the satisfying 'click' and gently pushed.
"Oh my. Look at this bed! I thought you said you didn't have one, Alec!" She breathed, and stepped in.
Wait, what? When the hell did I get a bed?! Wait a minute...
One word. Or, more so. One name.
Aro.
A/N:
Hey guys! Guess who's finally back?
I know, forgive me. It's been so long. But, internet problems, plus personal things have been accoutering and a new carer.
Never the less; CorruptedHeart is back, and she has a newly flame for Reneslec action!
Granted, my updates might be a little slower; but I will try my damned hardest to get this finished.
I plan on starting the next chapter either tomorrow, or in a few days.
But, you guys will have a update; after all... It is Renesmee's birthday soon!
What did we all think of Alec getting a little jealous? And the Nahuel and Renesmee relationship? Is that a potential problem?
All will be revealed.
I'm tallying up the votes, and things stated as to who Jane's love interest should be. Whichever one makes the most sense, and if I can fit it in; is the one I will be doing. Big shoutout to those who PM'd me in my absense. You guys need to do that more often! Kick my butt back into gear and get this thing finished. Without your motivation, I highly doubt I'd have gotten this far.
Keep up the reviews, and amazing feedback. I love each and every review I get.
So, pretty, pretty please with a cherry on top?
I love you all.
Peace.
