Chapter Twenty
Aaand we're back with the next chapter in Far From Home.
The trio had finally come back to Hogwarts and Kisame had been accepted as a Martial Arts instructor.
The new class was very well received, most of them were Muggles or students who had an upbringing in both worlds, some even had training in other martial arts styles, mostly Karate and the parents of the bullied signed their children up whether they wanted to or not.
Minerva and Konan had to help the overwhelmed Kisame sort out his schedule and decided that next year would be a first come, first served deal with limited slots. If she was ever miffed that his class was more popular then hers, she never said so and even offered to help out when she could.
First thing was first and that was to get the little brats in shape, he'd started them off with basic exercises, running, stretching, jumping jacks, push-ups and chin-ups.
Running around the lake had been met with a lot of complaints, up until Kisame-sensei had summoned a water dragon to chase after the students and had been reprimanded by staff when it ran a few of them over. But it had the desired effect and no one complained about running again.
After his first class with fourth year Hufflepuffs and Slytherins, Kisame found himself with a group of first year Ravenclaws and Gryffindors. The first years were more obedient then the fourth years and more intimidated by him. As it should be. He thought with a smirk.
As before there were several youngsters who knew something about martial arts, mostly Karate. He was just about to start with exercises when a small young girl with black hair and gray-green eyes raised her hand.
"Kisame-sensei?"
"Yes."
"I don't think I should be taking this class." The little Gryffindor, Annabel Windsor said daintily.
"Oh and why's that?" He asked conversationally. Here we go again. He thought irritably.
"Because there are boys in this class."
"So?"
"So my gramma said boys should never hit girls and that it's wrong to fight." She told him, nodding proudly at her irrefutable proof.
"That's cause girls are too delicate and weaker then boys anyways." Said a sandy-haired, hazel eyed boy next to her.
Several girls bristled.
"They are not!" One of the outraged girls shouted.
"You shut up Tristan!" Another one snapped.
Just then Kisame caught sight of Konan walking out to enjoy her lunch in the autumn sunshine.
"Hey Blue!" He called.
The class turned their heads collectively to see who he was hailing.
"Ya got a minute?"
She shot him a curious glance and padded over.
Several of the boys gazed at her dreamily, with her delicate features and unusual blue hair, she was the secret cause of many a crush amongst the students.
"That depends on what you want Kisame-san. I do have work to grade."
"This one," he said, indicating the little girl, "believes that boys shouldn't fight girls and this one here," he indicated Tristan Cartwright, "thinks that girls are weak."
"Ah." She murmured with a slight frown.
She understood what he wanted now. She set her lunch and her papers down in a safe area and took off her cloak, it was an exact replica of the Akatsuki cloak, but it lacked the telltale red clouds and got into a defensive position.
Some of the students watched the two teachers with interest. The pair was completely mismatched, it seemed like the classical face off of brawn vs. brain.
"Taijutsu only, we don't want these brats getting disappointed."
"Kisame-san."
"Yeah?"
"Don't hold back."
There was something competitive and excited in her voice that only he knew how to hear. Itachi had gotten the same way when they would get into practice spars.
He gave her a predatory smile as if to say. When do I ever hold back?
Only one or two of the first year Ravenclaws were in Konan's class and just barely managed to catch a few words.
With a smirk Kisame grabbed Konan by the shirt and shoved her hard but she caught herself, eyes calmly assessed the situation and she stepped aside at the last moment
He punched savagely and she uppercut him, then she turned her body and he dodged midair kick. He made to kick her in the head but she pulled what some of the muggle-born dubbed a baseball slide under his long legs and almost toppled him forward.
He unleashed a series of savage jabs, hitting her in the head, mouth and chest.
She staggered under the raw force and catching a tree branch, hauled herself up to get a second to clear her head.
But Kisame was having none of it and clambered after her and the spar took on a different shift as they leapt sure-footedly from branch to branch, before the Kiri nin grabbed her leg, and tossed her to the side.
She caught herself with a hand spring and went on the offensive, much to the crowd of cheering girls' delight. She punched him in the nose and he grabbed her arm and shoved her off, finding her balance she leaped and kicked, striking him from above, when she landed she kneed him in the gut, he tried to knock her off her legs but she jumped backwards.
As much fun as he was having, Kisame halted the spar.
Konan turned to the little girl who was staring at her with something akin to hero worship.
"What is your name?" She asked, panting slightly.
"Annabel Windsor." She said.
"Gender doesn't matter, intelligence discipline and hard work do."
Annabel turned pink and squirmed a little under her lightly chiding tone.
"Kisame-san." She nodded, gathered her things and walked away.
"Wow!" Annabel gushed. "I wanna learn how to fight like that!"
"You can." Kisame told her.
"Noo! Not like you." She said, waving her hand at him dismissively. "Like Professor Nakamura."
"Huh." Kisame rubbed the back of his head irritably.
Konan having caught that, smiled a little.
After he made sure there would be no more pointless interruptions they began and he was pleasantly surprised that Annabel worked the hardest.
