Chapter fifteen: China doll.
They wouldn't be long, would they?
Usually, the longest of time she spent alone would be a mere few hours. Lilianna didn't like Mary being alone, and it was understandable. Given they were practically in enemy territory. But this was the only time she seemed to put it behind her. Sure, Delilah was meant to stay at her side; but did Lilianna actually believe she would do that?
Delilah had a mind of her own, and decided when she went along with Lilianna's plans or not. This was one of those days she decided against it. Mary had heard Lily say once... That if it wasn't for Delilah's gift, she would have gotten someone else. Replaced her, so to speak.
Mary didn't like the thought of that. Not one bit.
They were meant to be a family. Family didn't replace one another. They stuck beside each other until the end... Just like Scott had said.
Her lips curved instantly with the thought of her coven mate. She had decided, when in secret, she wouldn't call him 'brother.' It was wrong, and sinful, to have feelings like the ones she had for him; if he was to be her brother. This was the only time she could openly think of him as just... Scott. Her Scott.
Crossing and uncrossing her legs in the air, Mary flipped a page of the book she was currently reading. Laying flat on her stomach on the bed, her seemingly permanent seat. With nothing but the birds chirping outside, and the sound of her calm breathing, she was content in that moment. Not a worry in the world.
That was until the door opened, and her eyes darted up to meet the figure. Her heart, metaphorically, skipped a beat.
"Scott?"
"C'mon," he held out his hand towards her.
She tossed the book to the side and kicked herself up off the bed. "Where are we going?"
"Leading the tracker away."
"But... I'm meant to stay here."
By now they were rushing down the staircase, probably to get into place.
"Yeah, I know. But Delilah's gonna stall Lily until we are both back in the room; and the job is done."
Delilah was helping him with this? Breaking her out from what seemed the regular routine of sitting there quietly and looking pretty? She wasn't sure whether she should be scared, or excited. A mixture of both, perhaps.
Scott's hand was firm, but gentle against hers. It was reasonably bigger too, to the point where it clasped almost completely around it. She couldn't deny the butterflies going insane within the pit of her stomach. Lurching and spinning into an oblivion. If it were possible for her to throw up, she probably would have been.
Just in time too, for she could hear the feet coming down the corridor. Just up from them was the reception, where she was sure the tracker and the other two - Jane included - were waiting.
Scott turned his head to Mary, his hand giving hers a small squeeze while his other came to his lips and indicated for her to be silent. Just to be sure, Mary held her breath. Not a sound would be heard from her, she made sure of it. Hidden in the shadows; just a few steps up one of the many staircases; they watched as the party of human, dog and hybrid walked past chatting amongst themselves.
Inwardly, Scott was counting within his head. Counting every step they took, and how quickly he could act if this were to go wrong. It wouldn't, of course; but he had to make sure. It wasn't just him on his own anymore. He had Mary to protect now.
Mary didn't let out her breath until Scott gave her hand a tug and pulled her down the remaining stairs and after the outing of friends. He caught up quickly, tugging Mary after him. As they came close, most of them moved out of the way; allowing both Mary and Scott to pass. They kept their eyes down, and she couldn't help but mutter a small "Thank you."
The moment they were ahead of the others, only by a fraction, but ahead. Coming to the main doors of the castle. The outside world. Mary couldn't begin to describe the thrill that was currently going through her. It had been days since she had been able to step outside. Futhersome more, she didn't have Lilianna with her. Something that never happened. Scott was honestly going against everything, wasn't he?
She just hoped he wouldn't get into trouble if they were caught. No, scratch that. She hoped they wouldn't be caught.
"Don't let go of my hand, alright?" Scott said.
Gladly, she thought while she nodded her head.
He gave a smile, and sped up his pace as they exited the doors; moving out and past the gate. She could still hear the others behind her, and judging by the pace Scott was now forcing her legs to move at; he was doing exactly what he was good at. Toying with that tracker and making him follow.
The moment the we past the gates; we were surrounded by countless humans. Mary looked up, automatically, and noticed there was only a set amount of overcast. They would be seen! Scott seemed to catch onto this, for he gave a hard tug on her hand and dashed her down a allyway. That was when he let go of her hand, and took off up a wall; using his fingernails to dig in and hoist him up.
If she didn't move quickly, she would be left behind. That didn't sit well with her. So, naturally, Mary copied his actions and followed him. This was liberating. She could see why Scott often went out and did Lilianna's bidding. The thrill of a 'mission' so to speak was enough to render her ecstatic. She was never chosen for something like this. She was always at Lilianna's side, or left somewhere safe with Delilah.
And when Delilah was the one to be used, Scott would be left in charge to keep an eye on her. To keep her safe. This was the first time she was actually... On some sort of a mission. Even if it was meant for her or not, she finally felt like a part of all this.
Scott's hands took hold of her upper arms, and pulled her up the rest of the way. Her feet now firmly planted on the rooftop. He replaced his hand in hers and pulled her along the flat rooftop, to leap over another alleyway, and across yet another. After the third or fourth one, Scott came to a stop. He dropped her hand, signaled for her to wait there, and walked towards the edge where he crouched himself down. The overcast was beginning to grow, which only caused Mary to believe that the rain was close to falling.
She didn't mind the rain. She would take a bit of rain over having to go back to that room again anyday.
She watched, transfixed eyes on him, as he observed the scene below him. Scott peered over his shoulder, and waved her over. She was quick to comply, as always. Beside him in a second, she mimicked his stance into a crouch. The only difference, rather than having her arms dangling between her parted legs - like Scott was - she had her arms wrapped around them. Mary realized then, she was practically squatting.
Scott moved his hand and pointed to a particular small group, walking in amongst the crowd.
The hybrid, and her friends. The ones they had passed. He then redirected his finger towards the group behind them, moving in the shadows. Obviously looking for something. Jane, the tracker and his friend. Was this what it was like? Sitting on top of rooftops all day, watching everyone underneath get on with their lives? Although Mary was thrilled to finally be a part of one of Lilianna's plans - whether she knew it or not - she couldn't help but feel a little... Sad for what their lives had become.
Never moving forward. Frozen in time to watch everyone else under them. There once was a time she had so many dreams for herself. So many dreams her father had once had for her, before he had been taken away.
Her hand automatically moved to the necklace around her throat. The small reminder of where she came from. The necklace her father had given her a few month's before he had been killed.
"So what do we do?" She asked, fiddling with the necklace.
"We watch for a while, then we move with them, turn on the trail and make those three follow."
"For how long?" She asked, her head turning to look up at him.
"For as long as it takes. Until the hybrid and her friend return to the castle."
Who knew how long that would be. Before she knew it, time would fly by and she would be back in that room. Back to the routine of being the pretty face, silent and just... Existing.
"You okay there, china doll?"
Her eyes widened in confusion with his words. What had he just called her? China doll?
"Why did you call me that?"
Scott wasn't looking at her, and truthfully he hadn't been aware he had called her that. It was merely something he only referred to her in his head. His eyes were only on the tracker, watching him talk rapidly to the small female, while the tall butch one lingered behind; clearly trying to come up with his own source of plan.
"Call you what?" He asked, absentmindedly. God he wished he knew how to lipread. He was curious as to what the conversation was down there. He wanted to know what sort of things was going through their heads, what sense of panic they were going through.
"China doll."
Scott's body became still, and his mind seemed to shut off. To him, she had just voiced his secret nickname for her, and she was saying he had called her that. Had it slipped his lips? In a state he had been in; it was probably possible. No, no probably about it. There was no way in hell this girl was able to know that without him voicing it.
He had slipped up, and now she wanted to know why.
"Oh..." He knew he would be blushing, if he could. "I didn't mean anything by it... It's just a little something I thought up once."
"When?" She asked, her head now tilting with full on curiosity.
He fell silent for a matter of seconds, avoiding her eyes searching for his.
"... A few days after I met you."
"Why China doll?"
"Because china dolls are perfect," he blurted out quickly, causing Mary to gasp somewhat in surprise. His head snapped around, and he reflected that look of surprise. "No, not like that. Not that you aren't, because you are obviously... Y'know because of the whole vampire thing... Not that you look like usual vampires. God, I'm bad at this.."
Mary stifled a laugh, her hand covering her mouth.
"I'll uh... Start again," he mused, his hand gripping onto the rooftop for some sense of stability. "Before I was turned... I had asthma. Really, really bad asthma. To the point even walking some distance could set me into an attack. I couldn't do what normal kids could. I left school with practically no grades or qualifications. I worked in a supermarket, and I depended on my mother for christ sake..." He scoffed, at his own pathetic sounding life. It was true, Scott did like this life. But not because of what he was doing. No, he enjoyed it because he could actually breathe. He could actually run freely and never run out of breath. He could do things he wasn't able to do in his human life. "So I ended up spending a lot of time with my mother... She loved collecting things. China dolls being the main thing. Every week I would go to this... Car boot sale, and I'd find her one. There was this one doll... I got it just before Lily found me. Maybe a week or something before..."
Mary blinked, nodding her head along with him. He let out a small sigh, along with a breathy laugh.
"When I gave it to my mother, she named it. The first one ever. She named it..."
"She named it Mary?"
"Yeah. It was the cutest little thing. Small, delicate, fragile... Looked just like you."
"You think I'm cute?"
Scott turned his head to look at her. His face was that of an embarrassed person. The shy sheepish smile planted on her face. His eyes avoiding her own after looking into them for at least half a second.
She had done a lot of things lately. Things she shouldn't. She had been looking at Scott in a totally different way. She had been doubting Lilianna and whatever her plan was. And she had left the room when she had been told not too.
Now she knew a little of Scott's past, something Lily had told them all to forget and never look back on. Those lives were over, and they weren't something they should re-live.
"Yeah..." He finally answered, causing the hole where Mary believed her heart had once beaten, to come to life. Furious fluttering began in the pit of her stomach. Mary was smiling. She couldn't help it. Inside of her was coming to life, and she felt as though she couldn't control herself. Her hand that had been fiddling with her necklace moved and took hold of his, that had been drawing patterns in the stone rooftop.
He looked up at her through his lashes, his own lips beginning to form to return the smile she was uncontrollably giving. His thumb ran over her knuckle, and slowly he intertwined their fingers.
Their eyes broke when a small droplet landed on her cheek. Both of them looked up towards the darkened sky. The once blue was now gray; and droplets were beginning to fall freely from the heavens.
"Oh, crap." Scott then sounded, forcing Mary out of her daze at staring up at the sky. She first looked to him, and then followed his eyes to where he was looking. Below was beginning to clear out, the human's trying to get out of the newly coming rain. But what he must've realized was...
They were gone. The trio had gone from sight. He stood himself up, pulling Mary up with him. "Come on, we'll find them again."
And with that, he took off across the rooftops; turning on his trail to lure the tracker out, with his hand still in hers.
—xXx—
It was here. He could sense it. He could practically see, taste and feel it. The trail was right there, and he was going to find it this time. From what he could sense, it was right behind the little Cullen and her group of friends and mongrels.
Of course they would be none the wiser as to what was going on. This wasn't there concern. But what got Demetri a little irritated was the fact it had stirred up now, and was basically lying right on top of their stench. He could pick it out, he had it burned onto his mind. Though, the moment he stepped past the gates and into the city's square - in the shadows, of course - it vanished.
It didn't it again, and he was far from pleased.
He wasn't letting it get away with it this time. Even if it killed him.
It wasn't making a fool out of him in front of Jane again. In front of any of them. He was the Volturi's tracker, and some ammateur was not getting the better of him. Not again.
His eyes shifted, adjusting in directions left right and center. He was aware of Felix and Jane behind him, merely because they hadn't exactly been quiet when he had taken off after the trail. Demetri couldn't risk the wasted time he would have have if he had stopped to explain it to them.
They didn't understand just how irritating, and somewhat humiliating it was for him. No one, besides Isabella Swan, was able to hide from him. She was shielded by her mind, and had been since she was a human. Not once had he been able to pick up on her trail, despite how much it made him curious. But this one was different. This one was playing with him. It was in a game he really didn't want to play, and the more and more it went on, the angrier he became. The more adamant he became that once he found whoever it was, and he would, he would rip them into pieces. And that he made in a promise to himself.
This person, this immortal, could turn it's trail off. It could make itself invisible to him. Unable to be found, and then like a flick of a switch, the trail would be back. And even more irritating; Demetri had found that not only was it able to hide it's own trail; but others around itself. That had become apparent when Alec had ran off, and then after Jane. It might've been an ammature; but it was obviously a talented one. But Demetri was positive he was not going to fail against this nuisance.
Currently, it was off; and he was growing more agitated as the seconds went by. It also didn't help that Jane was still talking to him, despite the fact he was ignoring her for a reason. He needed to concentrate. He needed to find this criminal. He had too. Not only to prove to all of them that he hadn't lost his touch, but to himself also. Demetri hadn't ever doubted himself. He was a Volturi guard for a reason, and thus Demetri had to be the best of the best.
No mere pest could outdo him. He refused to believe it.
"Demetri."
His head finally snapped around to look at Jane, glaring up at him - as usual.
"What is going on?"
"Isn't it obvious! I had the trail again. I had it, right there. I was tracking it, and then it vanished again."
Demetri could see the turning going on within Jane's head, for it was projected out of her eyes. She was thinking, clearly. But just what she was thinking, he wasn't sure.
Truthfully, she was taking in the way Demetri was talking. This had clearly gotten the better of him, and it was getting on his nerves to no extent. He had become irritable, easily angered, and quite snappy. Even to her, which was a surprise and a half. She doubted if he was in the right state of mind Demetri would never, ever, talk to her the way he was.
He knew better. Plus, Demetri had charm, and he was polite. He respected those around him; and even more so... He respected Jane, to the point where she believed that if he was himself, he would be appalled at the tone he was taking with her currently.
If it wasn't for that fact alone, Demetri would be a heap on the floor by now. Writhing in pain, begging for mercy. But because she knew just how much this was affecting him, she wasn't doing anything. She was taking it with a stiff upper lip, and letting him deal with it. When her own power had been ineffective to the Swan girl many years ago, it had pissed her off immensely. She could only imagine just how much this was effective him; seeing as this continuously seemed to happen to him. To Jane, it had happened three. When she had first met Bella, then when they had gone to Fork's to end Renesmee's life when she had been speculated as an immortal child, and lastly when she had been there with Alec; once again deciding her fate.
Those measly three times had angered her. Had gotten on her nerves. But with Demetri... How many times had he endured it now?
To him, it was too many.
"Right out of thin air. Completely nothing!" He hissed, his eyes reflecting her own irritation.
"Calm down," Jane stated, her eyes staying within his own. "It isn't your fault. This immortal is clearly toying with you, wishing to get a reaction. Do not give it the satisfaction, Demetri."
"And what do you suggest I do? Stand here until it shows up again? It is close to the hybrid, Jane. Do you understand what that means? It is a danger to her. That could put Aro's plans at severe risk, and you know it!"
"Do not bring up Aro's plans," she snapped back, her eyes now flaring with the anger. Demetri knew this look. She was so close to bringing on what every immortal being feared. And he was the target.
"Then what about your brother? If not Aro, then what about your brother? Do you realize what he will do, if something were to happen to her?"
Neither of them wanted to bare even the slightest thought to that. Renesmee had only been in their company a mere few days, and already they were able to see the change in Alec. He was different around her. He seemed to be a lot more... Demetri, and Jane, weren't quite sure how to word it. But whatever it was, she had done it to him. Just her presence. Her very being there changed him into the person Jane always knew Alec had once wanted to be.
And it was obvious that despite who he was now, he still very much wanted to be that person.
A man in love.
"I won't let it come to that." Jane declared. Although she didn't like Renesmee very much, and that much was a obvious - given that she had said it to her once - she wouldn't allow anything to happen to her. She almost snickered at the mere situation she found herself in.
"You're snickering?" Demetri frowned, his own impatience now showing. "This isn't a time for sadist hilarity, Jane."
Wait, she had done it? And here she thought she had done it inward.
"What's so funny, anyhow? Humor me."
Jane rolled her eyes, the ghost of that smirk still there on her full pink lips.
"I was once set on destroying her, and her family." Jane explained. "Now I find myself protecting her. Amusing how things change."
Demetri only stared at her. His eyes locked onto her as confusion built up within his gaze. In all his years, Demetri had never once been able to figure this woman in a young girl girls body out. She was a puzzle. One that despite how hard to tried to put behind you - because it was impossible to complete - you were always drawn back in to try and finish it.
His own lips twitched in amusement, his dark red eyes softening in the slightest.
"And here I thought you wouldn't change for anyone, not even your brother."
She snapped her eyes back up to him, narrowed in annoyance with a neat arched left brow.
"You're going soft," He finalized - obviously in a joke, for Jane didn't go soft. Not for anyone - but quickly added, "It's nice."
Before Jane could even part her lips to wit back to him, Felix interjected.
"If it's following the hybrid, perhaps we should keep up with them?"
Both Jane and Demetri's heads turned to gaze upon Felix, standing taller above them clad in black. His own features were bemused, which was only a given. He viewed Demetri as his brother. They, almost, did everything together. The fact this seemed to be getting on Demetri's nerves, and causing him to feel uneasy, didn't sit well with Felix at all. No one made a fool out of his friend, nay; best friend, and survived. If Demetri didn't get the honours of tearing this pest apart, then he would do it for him.
"Using your brain for once, Felix," Jane almost smiled. Almost. "It seems as though we are all changing. If the trail becomes clear again, Demetri, go after it. Now, lets go."
Jane didn't wait for those two before she pulled the cloak hood up over her head and set on out; crossing over the square to keep in the shadows of the city's square.
Demetri cast one small glance up towards the graying sky, noting the drops of rain beginning to fall down. Flicking his own hood up in sync with Felix, they nodded silently to one another and began after the fleeing pain inflicter.
Renesmee was seemingly content. Talking to her friends about college, and future plans. Ivy - Demetri was sure her name was - listened, but wasn't one to not allow her opinion in. The males of the group lingered behind, trying to interact with the dogs. Some of them were keen to talk, especially the smaller one. The one Demetri had heard that 'thanked' Jane, and he had often noticed let his eyes linger across her a little more than he bared to tolerate.
Why on Earth would a dog look at Jane? Not that she wasn't something to look at, of course. Jane was the definition of beauty... If sadistic, vindictive, uncaring and pretty much black hearted was beauty, she had it down to a tee. But Jane was beautiful. Very, very beautiful. She was no Heidi, of course. Heidi was beautiful to the extent that was all she was good for - among other things. Her beauty and vanity served the Volturi in luring tourists in for meals, but other than that...
Heidi didn't compare to the competition with Jane.
Jane was smart, witty, sarcastic, and downright irritating at times.
But wasn't that what made her so... Enticing?
If someone were to ask Demetri outright on his relationship with Jane, he would of course answer that it was only professional. Deep down, however, Demetri was indeed a man. A man who saw things in her, he doubted other people would ever see. Past that hard facade of not caring about anyone but her brother, or sadistic way in dealing with people; Demetri knew there was something more. Something she was guarding, and hiding away all due to her past.
There was no secrets when it came to the twin's past. Most - if not all - knew of Jane and Alec's beginning, and how they had come to be what they were. Their story was one even Demetri flinched at. Mere children being forced to endure such pain, such... Torture. It was inhumane. Every human in that town deserved what they had gotten, merely for making these twins suffer. They deserved more for even causing this girl to shed a tear.
She was the way she was, because of what happened. He understood that, he accepted it and he knew it would never change. Jane was protecting herself with this wall, and no one would be able to break it. No matter how hard they tried. No matter how hard he may try.
In his years of knowing Jane, she had never once expressed an interest in men. In anyone, really. No sexual desires, no sexuality at all. Where as Demetri? He had countless flings. He was always in an on again, off again, loop with Heidi. But Jane couldn't care less for any looks to be given to her beauty, not even his own.
He hadn't given two thoughts about anyone looking at her like that, because he knew she wasn't interested. However...
If she were to ever become interested, she deserved a lot more than a flea-ridden mutt.
She was Jane of the Volturi, after all. She was a princess, pretty much. Everyone knew of her, everyone feared her. She deserved better than a mere dog who went around phasing anytime it were to get excited. She deserved someone at her level of maturity. Someone who understood who she was... Accepted her for who she was. Someone like him.
Not like that would ever happen, Demetri knew. Their relationship was professional, even though he had some idle thoughts on what it would be like to have the heart of the most feared woman in all of the immortal world.
Felix kept close to Demetri's side, while Jane was two/three steps in front, leading them. Up ahead, Renesmee's group had taken shelter under umbrella's, while the pack shrugged it off and continued walking in the rain. Great, Demetri thought. Wet dog stench is just what we need stinking out the castle more.
"I never understood girls and their shopping trips. Still don't." Felix commented boredly. Evidently, he wasn't so keen on this 'follow the hybrid' idea after all. Truth be told, neither was Demetri. But they had to protect the hybrid no matter what the cost may be.
"Nor do I." Demetri scoffed, nodding his head along with his brothers words. Felix parted his lips to talk once again, set on continuing the conversation; but Demetri zoned out. He could taste mint. He could see purple, and his senses kicked in; locking right onto it straight away. Right above them.
"I have it."
And with that, Demetri took off up a nearby fire escape. Jane and Felix right on his tail.
—xXx—
She wasn't blind.
Nor was she stupid.
She knew exactly what was going on, and to be quite frank; she didn't understand why they didn't just have it out in the open already. It was evident by the sly little glances they continuously gave to one another. Mary and Scott had a small thing for one another. Delilah could see it, so why couldn't Lilianna? Was she that dense, or was it because she was so caught up in this dream where she would have everything she wanted handed to her on a plate? The twins, this perfect family she was creating, everything she seemed to desire.
Couldn't she see that in trying to obtain her happiness, she was depriving others of theirs? It was obvious that these two were trying. They were trying all they could just to be what Lilianna wanted them to be. Brother and sister, nothing more, nothing less. But how long could they keep it up for? If it was anyone else, she would have without a doubt lost interest. But it was Scott and Mary. They had been through so much already together.
Though it might seem she didn't care, that she was bored, and uninterested in everything - which most of the time, she was - when it came to those two; it was entirely different. Scott, despite having no reason to be, always tried to kind to her. Even after she would lash out, especially in the first few weeks of their transformation and adjustment to their new life. No matter how many times she insulted him, or tried to hurt him - which once, she had. By ripping off his ear, which he had to put back on. She wasn't sure which hurt him more; ripping his ear off, or him having to put it back on - he was always kind to her.
And Mary? Well... Mary was just too darn innocent. Too pure. To... Childlike, sometimes. Delilah had always had a soft spot for kids, despite how she might've seemed.
Which was why she had agreed to this. Helping him. She owed them in some small way, for being there for her. For trying to help her, even if she didn't want the help at times. Although they might not be the family Lilianna was making them - and as they were acting to be around her; they were indeed a family. Families helped one another.
Thus, meant now she was stuck in a dark corridor with practically no light; other than the one coming from the door at the very end. She presumed Lilianna knew she was there, since the silence that came from the previous little argument. It could only mean one thing. She was either A; invading his mind and making him remember - like she had threatened. Or B; he had killed her or vise versa. She highly doubted that she had killed him however. She was basically obsessed with this little creep.
Honestly, she couldn't care less which one it was. It had nothing to do with her, at the end of the day. At this present moment in time, Delilah was rested against the wall; her arms crossed and one leg bend so the sole of her shoe was pressed right up against the wall with her back.
When she had turned, Lilianna had left out one detail. How boring things got.
The endless time. The continuous waiting. Sure, travelling was pretty neat, since it was something Delilah had always wanted to do. But other than that, she was downright sick of it already; and she had only been in this life for approximately two years and a few months.
She oddly missed the newborn days, when she was stronger and faster and more sharper and aware. She didn't miss the constant burning, however. That she was thankful to see the end of. Now, she could stand being in the same room as humans, and not have that overwhelming urge to rip into their throat. She had come a long way since those days. Thank god.
The plans was simple. Stall Lily - if Alec failed in doing so - until Scott and Mary were back. God knows what she would do to them if they were caught. Getting into trouble was something Delilah did every now and then, so Lilianna would probably be expecting it. She had been ordered to stay with Mary in the room, and 'babysit.' Evidently with her being in the corridor, she had broken that.
She wouldn't go so harsh on Delilah, anyway. Not if she wanted to continue to use her, that is.
Lily was nothing without her or Scott. Even without Mary. She needed all of them.
She ran her tongue across her teeth, idly; her mind on what it would be like to take up smoking. If there would even be much point, seeing as she didn't need to breathe anyway. Though, the only real reason she would do such a thing would be to pass the time, and give her something to do.
"No, I'm not leaving without you."
"I am not going with you! Be thankful I am even letting you live."
Delilah's head turned, her eyebrow arching in the slightest. Well, things seemed to have gotten a little interesting. Delilah focused her ears past the door, listening intently to the small drama going on behind it. Though she couldn't see, she pictured it in her mind.
"Then kill me!" There was a long pause, along with a thud. Either one of them had punched the other, or someone had made a move and pinned the other somewhere. Delilah couldn't decide which sounded more amusing. "I cannot live without you, Aleczander."
Oh please, she thought with a roll of her eyes. Give me a bucket. I'm gonna' hurl.
"You must learn." His tone was a little harsh, but oddly; Delilah found herself biting her lip in anticipation. She couldn't help it, but that harsh rugged growl of a voice was pretty damn hot.
"Kill me. I order you to kill me. I beg of you."
She wasn't sure what it was, but hearing Lilianna ask such a thing irritated her. She was their creator, and yet she was so willing to just up and leave them? Did she realize what the hell that would do to them? Although they weren't entirely fond on this whole 'get Alec' mission they were currently on, they were still doing it. For her. They were a family, despite how dysfunctional they were. Delilah, Scott and Mary loved Lilianna. Mary... Oh, Christ. Mary would be distraught if Lilianna were to die. She looked up to Lilianna. She was always either with her, or following her rules. How the hell would Mary cope without her?!
"Please... Don't leave me alone again."
Alone?! Is that what she felt!? Lilianna had them! Did they mean nothing to her?!
"I love you, Alec..." Delilah's teeth gritted tighter. Of course, Delilah knew she loved Alec. Why else would they be going through all the trouble they were currently going through? It didn't ease her irritation, however. "I've always loved you."
The silence that followed ate at her, and no longer being able to stand it; Delilah's rage got the better of her. She practically stormed down the rest of the corridor and kicked the door open. The sight before her was one she wasn't expecting. Lilianna was kissing him.
You have gotta' be shitting me...
Before they could notice, Delilah was back in that corridor with the door creaking to a close behind her.
A/N:
So sorry about the day late update. I was waaaaaay too busy to even get online at all. Hey, at least it wasn't three months like last time, eh?
Too soon to joke? Yeah, probably is.
Anyway; leave a review. They really do help, and you never know... They might even spurr me on to update a little sooner than next Saturday/Sunday since I've written all the way up to chapter 20. *gasp* That's right! Chapter 20.
So, you want the next chapter? Get those reviews in. I'm putting a little review game into mind. If you pass a certian number of reviews; I will update straight away. The game part is... I'm not going to tell you the number. All I'll say is that it's more than 10 reviews needed. So, good luck.
I'll see you all next week, or maybe in a few days. ;3
I love you all.
