Author's Note: Hey, everyone! I just wanted to thank everyone for being patient and supportive of this story. I also wanted to announce that I am planning on writing a sequel to this story called "Injustice: Eclipse" which will be like an extended epilogue. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I did want to mention that Damian Wayne, Catwoman, and Deathstroke will be making appearances and Alfred will have a larger role in the story. Feel free to leave any feedback about this story and any suggestions or comments about the sequel. Thank you!

Chapter 4: Supernova

Sam crouched in a corner of another alleyway several blocks from where she had encountered Nightwing, breath escaping in ragged exhales and desperately fought back tears.

It was no use.

Sam crumpled into a small pile on the ground and began to cry. Her shoulders shook with her sobs and her tears burned with her anger and fear. She saw the man's broken neck and Nightwing's stunned expression after he was thrown against the wall. Her eyes were closed tightly, as if it was pushing those memories away.

I'm sorry… she prayed to whoever was in charge of this kind of thing. She then shakily wiped away her tears before they froze to her cheeks, brought her fingers to her temples, pressed hard, and took several deep breaths. Soon, the image of the dead man became blurry to a point where she couldn't remember what his hair color was, then, a few seconds later, she couldn't remember in what way he had died.

After a few more moments, Sam opened her eyes. She sat up, brought her knees to her chest, and wrapped her arms around them. She dwelled on the memory of Nightwing longer than she knew she should have. She hadn't recognized him immediately, but she had definitely seen that emblem on his chest before. She remembered she had encountered it a few times in a city called Blüdhaven where it was spray-painted on numerous buildings followed by some phrase along the lines of "Ditch the Bat, Nightwing!"

Then Sam's eyes widened in sudden realization. The Bat. Nightwing knew the Batman.

"Shit!" Sam hissed under her breath before jumping to her feet. Stupid, stupid, stupid! She continued to silently curse herself as she made her way to the street. She should have realized Nightwing would probably have gone to Batman about her. She needed to leave Gotham. Now.

But before she could leave the alley, a dark shadow descended in front of her.

"Going somewhere?" a deep, intimidating voice questioned.

Sam's eyes widened in fear. It was the Batman. In the flesh.
