Oh my word... I AM SOOO SORRY! I know it's been over a month since I updated, and I feel HORRIBLE!

Right after marching band i auditioned for Speech and somehow they let me in... this means i have a tournament every Saturday, that added with finals, classes, friend trauma, and winter concerts proved to be a little to much for me. Plus i also lost a bit of inspiration when reviews and views started going down. However those are not good reason to completely abandon you guys, and on a cliff hanger too!

I apologize. I hope you all had a happy holiday! Mine was spend watching Les Miserables in my Eponine hat. Let me tell you, that is one way to get rid of Christmas feels.

Also let me say that I have no intention of giving this story up (its been over a year and 56 chapters, giving up would be pointless...) but the end of this story is nearing just so you all know. Just want to send a special shout out to Riley (guest), redspottywellies, and Lesmiserabby for motivating me to get off my butt and get back to writing, Thank you very much!

Please review! I do happy dances when i see them! (oh and i will be working on new les mis fanfics so if you all have any ideas please tell me ;D )

Enjolras couldn't take it anymore, he could barely take it in the first place. As if it wasn't bad enough that his parents played a major role in the complete destruction of his relationship, but now they were going on as if nothing happened. There they were sitting at the kitchen table drinking their morning coffee and going on completely normally. The night before he yelled at them and blamed them for causing the break-up before proceeding to storm up to his room. He stayed there the entire night - and for a large portion of that morning and afternoon- but no one had come to see him, check on him, or even look at him. The only person who even seemed to care Isabel, not that Enjolras minded her- she was much more maternal than his own mother- and Combeferre; the second his best friend came through the door Enjolras had told him everything without much prodding at all. Since they were kids Combeferre was the only person Enjolras could ever turn to and reveal everything to, before he met Combeferre Enjolras and Erik had been close, they did everything together from watching movies to racing bikes but things changed once they started to grow up.

As children both sets of parents had enrolled the boys in private school (one reason being Erik's unfortunate deformity) much to the boy's distaste, but at least they were together most of the time. The Enjolras influence had allowed the two brothers and Ferre to be in class together at all time, with the all of them sticking together- and with Enjolras' geeky demeanor, Erik's face, and Ferre's shy tendencies it was a blessing in disguise. When someone tried to tease one of them, the other two would stand behind and defend their friend. However corruption in some of the school teachers, along with some other details, had lead to the closure of that school. With the only other private school two cities away and the boy's begging to be enrolled in regular school (a new article, movie, book, and tv news segment prompting Enjolras to research and compare statistics being a key factor) the parents gave in and enrolled their children in public school for their last two years of junior high. That was when things started to change.

Enjolras began making more friends and finding his interest in extracurricular activities and Combeferre went with him. Their interactions with the new schoolmates caused Enjolras to really zone in his interests and spark his potential. New clubs, events, and people started to fill up his life and for the first time in his young life, Enjolras felt liberated and complete and Combeferre was content and satisfied as acting as his right hand man and voice of reason.. But the feeling came at a cost.

While Aiden Enjolras adapted well and breezed through school, Erik Enjolras was struggling to stay on his own two feet. Ever since the age of eight Erik had slight resentment toward his brother, he always found speaking easier than him and his face was not deformed like Erik's, but that resentment was usually diluted by the strong bond between them and the connection they shared. They were brothers and they were together but most importantly they were at the same level. With Enjolras excelling in schools and putting his talents to use Erik was left behind. He had potential as well but his face is what held him back. He noticed the stares he got from other people around him, he heard the whispering behind his back, and added together he knew what people thought of him. Afraid to expose himself anymore than he had to, Erik stayed in the shadows. It was in those shadows that he found his passion, music and architecture. In the privacy of his room Erik flew across oceans while Enjolras accomplished the same but in the public eye. The attention Enjolras got made the small resentment grow, and with Enjolras' growing need to stay away from the house the resentment expanded to every corner of the large house. Enjolras gained bad feelings as well, rancor filling him to the brim from Erik's stubbornness and silence. To him it seemed like Erik didn't want to interact with him anymore, even if they did talk it was only for a few moments, or an argument that neither could deny or confirm blame for.

Neither brother saw noticed it happening, not until it was too late and they were both too stubborn to turn back. Since then Erik had his music of the night and Enjolras had the voice of the people, they completely immersed themselves in their new worlds without ever sparing a glance behind. With time, the wedge between them grew and grew until they became strangers. Perfect strangers who knew each other too well.

They only thing they had in common was the common distaste for their parents. Growing up had opened their eyes to the true colors of the people who 'raised' them. The more they learned and realized, the more the distaste grew. However no one ever vocalized their feelings to their parents, preferring to instead glare in silence and move on, leaving the emotions to bury themselves deep within Erik and Enjolras. Eventually those emotions piled up and expanded until it was too much to take and things all came to an explosion. An ugly explosion with devastating results.

Enjolras knew he could have handled the situation a lot better but the circumstances all coming to him at once, his mind prevented him from doing so. The existing anxiety he had from the start of the night, added with Erik's confession and Eponine's ultimate decision to end things had been much too overwhelming for him. Still at the end of the day it seemed like they should have attempted something, anything, to show that they knew something was wrong. He didn't expect them to take credit for it, to apologize or to try to make him feel better- that wasn't in their nature- but he wanted them to at least acknowledge it, to realize and get it through their heads that something did happen and it had hurt him, their son. Even if they didn't realize that they did something wrong at the time, they should have at least said something to him, something to indicate that they knew he was hurting and they were the cause of it. They should at least have the decency to do reach out to him considering there was no way this was anyone's fault but there's. Yes he knew there was slight blame to him, the way he handled Erik was anything but right, but it took more than what he did to result in Eponine breaking up with him. His parents could try to ignore the problem and pretend that it would go away in no time, and his brother could hide and run away from the world while condemning it, they could all try to do what they have always done but it wasn't going to work this time. This time they had gone to far.

Not being able to stay in his room any longer Enjolras sprang up from his chair and stormed out of his room. Enjolras was not the type of man to sit around and do nothing, he needed something to keep his mind occupied. Without thinking Enjolras grabbed his car keys, threw on his gray sweatshirt - Eponine still had his red one- and marched down the stairs. However before he could reach the front door he was stopped but his mother's voice cutting through the air.

"Looks like you finally calmed down enough to join us." She stated , causing the muscles on Enjolras' back to clench.

"About time." His father added nonchalantly. "Looks like these temper tantrums of yours are getting shorter."

Madame chuckled, "Remember when he got so upset that he refused to talk to us for a week?" she shook her head as if thinking back to a fond memory, "Thank God for Isabela."

Enjolras' jaw dropped open and before he realized what he was doing, Enjolras strode across the hall and into the parlor where his parent's were sitting, his jaw clenched and his arms tensed with anger.

"Do you think this a joke?!" He demanded harshly. "Do you think this is funny!? After all you've done you think its ok to laugh?!"

His mother sighed, "Is this about this about Eponine?"

His father rolled his eyes and put down his paper, "Are you still upset because she broke up with you? These things happen Enjolras, you're a teenager. Just get up and move on."

"How can you say that?!" Enjolras snapped, "Eponine meant A LOT to me and you-"

"My dear Aiden," his mother began, cutting him off, "she was just a girl. You could do so much better anyway. I mean look at-"

"I don't want anyone else mother!" shouted Enjolras, "I want Eponine. I care about her and she was important to me! I don't care what you think I deserve because in my eyes no one else amounts to her! I could not do better than her because she was the best to me! You knew that!"

She scoffed, "How were we to know-"

"I brought her to meet you! I have NEVER done anything like this before! You are my parents! You are supposed to notice these things!" Enjolras paused for a minute while venom started to seep onto his tongue, "I guess you simply don't care. You don't care about me or anyone else."

His father huffed, "Now Aiden"

"Don't you 'Now Aiden" me! You don't have the right! Whether or not you want to admit it I am hurt! You ruined my relationship with her! You were too close minded to even consider liking her! Your opinion was formed before she even sat down! Then you had to vocalize it! Taking every insecurity she ever had and throwing it in front of her, flaunting that you saw them and making her know it! You crushed her! You hurt her, you hurt my Eponine!. What is wrong with you!?"

"That is no way to speak to us young man!" snapped his mother, "We are your parents!"

"Then you should act like them! Being a parent is more than throwing money at us and smiling when you see you a few days out of the month!"

A look of pain shot through his mother's face, as if she had just been slapped by her own son's words.

His father stood up, anger filling his eyes. "How dare you-"

"No how dare you!?" shouted Enjolras, "I am very hurt, I just didn't say anything because I never have said anything. All my life I've kept every emotion, every feeling I've ever had from you. You were never there when I needed you and I got used to that. I got used to using my energy, good or bad, to my advantage and fueling my work. That is what I always had to do. But the truth is, I am extremely hurt! And you are responsible! What you did was not an accident, not in the least bit. Then you think it's ok to just go on!? To continue as if nothing happened, and thinking that if you just….pushed away and ignored the problem it would go away and never come back. Well let me just reassure you, and let you know, no make you know that something DID happen! Something big that won't just go away because you pretend that it didn't."

Enjolras glared at his parents through anger filled eyes, his jaw clench, his shoulders hunched, and his hands in fists.

His mother stared with wide eyes. "Well what would you have had us do!?"

Enjolras took a shaky breath and snarled out, "You should have had the decency to at least apologize, or even come and check on me. You should have cared enough to surrender one moment to make sure I was ok, one second to utter a syllable at me! Anything would have been better than you ignoring everything." Enjolras took in short breaths as he stared down his parents, "That's all you've ever done is ignore problems. Well this time it won't work."

Fairly satisfied with getting every word he had wanted to say out of his mouth, Enjolras stared at his parents for one more moment before stomping out the room and toward the front door again. His hand was on the knob when another voice stopped him in his tracks.

"Enjolras?" called his brother

Enjolras pursed his lips, if things were bad before, now they were even worse. After everything that night he went out of his way to glare at his brother and let his anger show, not that Erik was any different. Composing himself, Enjolras turned around to face him. "Can I help you Erik?"

"Did you mean all that stuff you said? About Eponine?"

Enjolras nodded and looked at his shoes, "Yes I did…. I still mean it."

Nothing was said between the two of them for a while. Both wanted to say something but neither knowing what to say. Even with the wedge between them, they were still brothers and they both knew they would always be.

Erik tried to break the silence, "Look Enjolras I-"

At that moment Enjolras felt a vibration coming from his pocket. Without thinking he reached down and pulled his phone from it to see he was getting a call from Gavroche. Enjolras winced a bit and looked at his brother but Erik nodded to tell him it was ok to answer.

Understanding him Enjolras touched the screen and put the phone to his ear. Almost immediately his ear was filled with Gavroche's voice speaking a 100 miles an hour.

"Woah Gav!" Enjolras chuckled, "Calm down." However with Gavroche's next few words all laughter was drained from his face.

Erik frowned, "What's wrong?"

"It's Eponine." Enjolras stated with fright, "She's in trouble."

The moon shone down through the murky clouds of the sky and the cracked glass of the pub as Nancy ran in and ducked behind a chair.

Now she had done it.

Now Bill was really pissed off and all his anger was directed toward her. She had screwed up before but this was definitely at the top of her screw ups list. She should have just done what he asked, she should have allowed him to just do his business but no, no she just had to stick her nose in everything and resist should have known better than to call him out, that always got him rifled up. Bill Sykes was known not to be someone to mess with. Even though he was young he walked around like he owned the world, with his pitbull at his side he was unstoppable. At 21 he was a well respected and feared 'businessman", no one ever dared to mess with him, not even the Thenardier gange. He was at the top of the food chain and everyone knew it. No one dared challenge it.

Even so, Nancy still found it within herself to have the courage to defy him.

She tried to please him, she really did. That was why she was with him, because he needed her, whether or not people thought that she knew- she was lonely, he needed her, and she needed to be needed, it seemed like a perfect fit. He didn't seem to want her at times, and he even shoved her aside at others but he always came back to her in the end. Out of everyone out there, he always came back to her. That said more to her than words ever could. She tried not to let her joy, or what she felt inside show when Bill was near her. She had pride and that was something she was determined to keep. She played Billy's game, used his every rule as long as she could but there were some things that needed to come before his happiness, and that was Oliver's safety.

She couldn't help it, Oliver deserved a happy ending, he deserved to have a happy home and loving family, something that had been taken from her at a young age. As much as she loved Bill there was something just as strong calling her because someone else needed her, a child with no one to take his path. Nancy always knew where she needed to be, and this time it was with Oliver. Nancy was many things, but a traitor wasn't one of them. Oliver had trusted her with all his heart and she for one wasn't going to betray his trust.

However her loyalty to the boy came at a price, her safety and standing with Bill. Apparently he had not seen it in the same way she had, in fact he saw it as betrayal, and Bill wasn't known to take to that kind of thing lightly. That being the case Nancy was currently hiding in the local pub cowering behind the bartender table- she knew the owner always left a window in the back open and she had used that to her advantage, but Bill knew about it too and it was only a matter of time before he found her. Shaking from fright, Nancy curled up into a little ball and pushed herself as far into the corner of the table as she could, as if that somehow could make her disappear. She did not scare easily but the look on Bill's face and the rage in his eyes was all too much for her; he had hurt and hit when when he was only somewhat mad, what would he do to her now that there was a raging fire within him? The very thought send chills through Nancy that traveled from the roots of her hair, down her spine to the tips of her toes.

Hearing a bit of wind ruffle the curtains followed by footsteps Nancy's heart skipped a beat, she knew this was it, soon Bill would find her and she would have to deal with the powerful consequences like the time before, and the time before that.

"Nancy!" a voice hissed softly. A voice that didn't resemble Bill's at all. This voice was lighter in tone, still rough but very feminine and young. She knew that voice it was-

"Eponine!" Nancy whispered loudly, relief and worry flowing through her. "What the hell are you doing here?!"

"You pocket dialed me." She explained as she jumped over the counter and crouched down so the two girls were eye level. "I didn't like what I heard, I had to come help somehow."

"How did you find me?!" Nancy asked, wondering if Bill would be the next.

Eponine pursed her lips, "When I lived in this neighborhood, in the East End, this was pub was the place I went when my father beat me." She paused for a moment to lick her lips before continuing, "I thought it was worth a try to look for you here. Looks like I was right."

At that moment, Nancy didn't know what came over her but she felt the need to embrace Eponin- and she did, tightly, as if never wanting to let go and thank her for being there all in one hug. For once in her life, Nancy felt that someone cared for her and her alone, something she hadn't felt in a long time. However that filling was short lived as as few moments later the back doors flew opened and were followed by the sounds of clawed feet skirting across the concrete floor of the pub. Nancy pulled Eponine into her hiding spot, falling as deep as she could into the corner, and the two girls held on for dear life, fear and dread spreading through their veins like blood. A cold breeze drifted through the empty room and involuntarily both girls shivered. The moments that passed seemed like hours as the heard the paws accompanied by heavy footsteps. Bill was in the room.

Nancy pursed her lips and closed her eyes as if trying to gather up every shred of courage and strength within her as she heard the footsteps get closer and closer. Even in the darkness of the room, Bill's dog would surely find them, he had a knack for that.

"NANCY!" Bill shouted, his booming voice filling every corner of the empty pub. "I know you are in here! You little whore! Show your face you traitor!"

Eponine felt Nancy tighten her grip on her, almost painfully, but she remained silent. If they could both stay quiet and hidden for long enough she knew everything would be ok. Help would arrive, it just had to. Everything would be fine if they could just stay hidden a little longer…

"WOOF! WOOF!"

The footsteps stopped. They had been found.

"There you are!" Yelled Bill as he jumped over the counter and reached his hand under it to grab ahold of Nancy. She screamed as Bill yanked her from her spot and brought her to face the moonlight. Eponine could do nothing but stare from her spot in the shadows, fear paralyzing her.

"You little lying delilah!" he sneered, "You fucking bitch!"

"Billy please!" yelped Nancy, "Don't hurt me!"

"Give me one reason not to!" He snarled before throwing her on the ground and kicking her. "You've done nothing but get in my way! You ruined everything!" He screamed adding another hard kick to her head

Nancy cried out in pain. "Bill please! I'm sorry!"

"Sorry doesn't fix anything." He hissed softly, venom dripping from his lips. "I'll give you a reason to be sorry." He said with anger radiating off of him as he grabbed a beer bottle from the nearby shelf and raised it over his head, ready to bring it down upon her head.

It was at that moment that Eponine took action, she was not going to let her friend die under watch. Without thinking Eponine jumped from her spot under the counter and leapt at Bill.

"NO!" she cried as she latched herself onto his arm, the force behind strong enough to push him back and make him release the bottle so it fell to the floor and shattered, leaving broken glass and wine in its place. Nancy in turn looked up to witness the event helplessly in confusion.

After recovering from the initial shock Bill snarled at Eponine and swung his arm, flinging her from it and next to the mess of the wine bottle, her side skidding painfully on the broken glass that dug into her skin.

"Who the hell are you?!"

Eponine pushed herself up and scrunched her nose at him defiantly, allowing fire to mask the fear in her eyes. "I'm the girl who is not going to let you hurt Nancy!"

"Eponine don't!" Nancy called weakly

Bill chuckled for a moment, "Eponine… I know that name. You are Eponine Thenardier aren't you? Daughter of that lousy con Thenardier."

"I am the daughter of a wolf and I will not let you hurt Nancy."

"Oh really? I don't think you stand much of a chance." He mocked as he took a menacing step toward her.

"I'm not afraid of you!" She snarled before swinging her leg out, causing Bill to fall flat on his back. She then jumped up and held out a large piece of the beer bottle in front of her, the broken part toward Bill like a weapon. Seeing her opportunity Eponine sprinted over to Nancy who was standing up weakly.

Bill grunted before pushing himself up and walking toward them, smirking wickedly.

"You think you are so clever don't you?" He challenged, "Daughter of the wolf. You think you are so strong and cunning."

"You're the one covered in wine." snarled Nancy

Anger flashed through his eyes, "You want to go there Nancy? You really want to go there?"

"Do you?!" screeched Eponine, "lest you forget I can cut you here and now." She threatened as she held out the bottle.

"You don't have the guts." He spat, noticing how Eponine shaked.

"But we do." intruded a voice

Eponine tilted her head and gasped as she saw none other than Erik standing there with a pry bar in his hand.

"It's over Bill." stated someone else

Right by the door, looking as if he was ready to pounce at any moment, stood Enjolras holding a baseball bat.

Bill looked around, "What?!". In the distance police sirens could be heard and faint colors of red and blue lights began to be visible through the window.

Nancy took a step toward him. "It's over."

Rage filled Bill to the rim, "You fucking bitch!" He shouted before lunging toward her. Eponine gasped and held out the bottle again but it was not necessary for before Bill could get very far Erik had gotten to him and pinned him on his stomach to the floor.

"I don't think so." Erik growled

Eponine let out a big sigh as relief flooded through her. It was over, it was really over. The next few minutes flew by quickly, almost like a blur. She noticed bits and pieces of the following events- the cops coming in, Bill getting arrested and forced into a cop car, Nancy talking to Erik, seeing a bunch of their friends and Mr. Myriel outside of the pub on the other side of the police tape, Enjolras walking next to her, the tension between them so thick you could cut it with a knife, the cloudy sky finally giving in and letting rain fall down upon.

With the adrenaline leaving, Eponine's body gave in and she found that she could barely walk without her legs wobbling under her. She tried to suck it up and keep going but a few steps later she had no choice but to lean on the car hood next to her.

"Ep!" cried Enjolras as he lunged toward her

"I don't think I can stand anymore…" She said weakly as she fell to her knees, her hands cradling her side. Their friends and family's eye grew with worry as they observed the scene.

"Eponine what's wrong?" He asked desperately as he scanned her body, his eyes finally landing on her hands clutching her side. A damp spot around them grew and he noticed that her fingers were starting to have a red tint. "Eponine you're hurt! Oh God it's everywhere!" Enjolras looked around and started to scream, "Medic! Medic! We need some help over here!"

Eponine gulped and looked up at him through foggy eyes, "Don't you fret Enjolras, I don't feel any pain, a little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now….You're here" she chuckled softly as she cradled his cheek, "that's all I need to know. I'll be ok, don't you fret about me."

"You're not ok Eponine! You're bleeding!"

"Oh right…" She said drowsily, "Crap…."

Her eyes started to flutter closed as rain pelted down on her, the last thing she saw from the corner of her eye was Nancy and Erik talking, looking genuinely happy, as if no one else existed. The last thing she heard was Enjolras speaking in her ear.

"Hold on! Hold on…."
