A/N: Here's one I've been dying to do. :)

Black

"Huh."

Dark eyes flickered up at him for a split second before returning back to the magazine splayed out on the table.

"Huh.."

The eyes twitched.

"Huh..."

Gray let out an irritated sigh. "What Natsu?" He demanded, moving his attention from the article to the other male. Natsu scratched his pink hair and shrugged with one slim shoulder.

"Nuthin'."

Gray growled something incoherent under his breath, shot the pink haired dragon slayer a glare and returned back to his reading. A few minutes of silence and Gray was drawn completely back to the article, not noticing after some more minutes passed that Natsu came around the table and plopped down very very close to him.

The pinkette straddled the bench and leaned forward to the older teen who was oblivious. Natsu poked Gray's cool cheek, startling him.

Gray glared at him. "Is there something I can help you with?" He gritted out. The hard expression on his face slowly died away due to Natsu's intense stare on him. Gray began to feel just a tad self conscious. "What?" He sounded unsure now.

Natsu leaned forward some more forcing Gray to lean back until he was on the edge of the bench. The dragon slayer practically seated himself on Gray's lap, entranced with how Gray's eyes darkened even more.

"Your eyes." Natsu put bluntly. Gray blinked.

"Wha' about em?"

"I'm pretty sure they're blue." Natsu had his face inches away from Gray's by the time he finished his sentence. He tilted his head to the side and studied the ice mage's eyes. "But they're pitch black now."

Gray's heart thudded with the closeness he was with his rival slash friend. "Wh-what are you talking about, my eyes are blue. And what's with the sudden interest about them?"

Natsu blinked. "Well, because they're black."

Gray shook his head and shoved Natsu several feet back. "No, they're blue. Maybe they look black because it's a dark blue-"

"ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT I DON'T KNOW MY DAMN COLORS?" Natsu suddenly yelled, causing Gray to jump and the attention of everyone, which included Erza, in the guild. Erza came over to see what the fuss was about. Gray was in the middle of shouting back at Natsu.

"What the hell is your problem ya candle stick! I KNOW my damn eye color and it's NOT BLACK. They're BLUE." He hissed in pain when a hard fist bopped his head. A noise from Natsu informed him that Erza also got him.

"What are you two squawking about now?" Titania demanded.

Natsu rubbed his head wincing. He sat criss cross apple sauce on the bench and stared up at the older girl. "Oww.. oh, but Erza! Tell Mr. Strips A Lot that his eyes are black, not blue!"

Erza looked at Gray who was already growling. "They're not, they're blue!"

"They're black Gray." Erza deadpanned. Gray wanted to tear his hair out from the roots. How infuriating it is to have someone tell you what your eye color is when they're wrong.

"For the last time-WAH!" Warm hands grasped the sides of his face. He was turned to face Juvia. Her face was close, warm eyes studying his. The water mage watched Gray's eyes turn shade from it's blackness back to its regular dark blue. She nodded, though her heart felt heavy.

"Gray-sama's eyes are blue," She started, ignoring Natsu's protests and how more of the guild members came to surround the interesting scene. The woman still cupped Gray's face and though she was thrilled beyond anything for Gray not pushing her off, Juvia continued. "But, they were black."

Natsu looked horribly confused. "So... Gray has one black eye and one blue eye?"

"A true man has changing colored eyes." Elfman announced.

"That doesn't make sense." Gray said with a sweat dropped.

"What about changing eye colors?" Lucy asked having just walked in the guild. Natsu waved her over.

"Gray has freak eyes!"

"DO YOU WANT TO FIGHT?" Gray shouted at him, breaking free from Juvia. The girl watched when Natsu looked at Gray, said boy's eyes darkened back to the black color.

Natsu's fist errupted with flames. "Bring it on!"

As the two ensued in a brawl (with Elfman trying to join but getting it served to him real quick) Juvia sighed and looked off, hand folded neatly in front of her. Erza slid beside her, not caring at the moment that her crazy boys were wrecking havoc in the guild.

"You know something." The requip mage stated. Lucy walked up and listened.

"Yes, Juvia knows." Juvia replied. "Juvia has... given up on Gray-sama for his heart is taken by another. Although Gray-sama is unaware of it." The bluenette sighed dramatically. "When she pursued Gray-sama, Juvia researched everything that was helpful for her to win Gray-sama's heart. She came across an article while trying to find what body language told her if Gray-sama liked her back."

Lucy and Erza shared a look unnoticed by Juvia who stared at the ground.

"Juvia.. Juvi.. I read it. It was about how your eyes turn black when you like someone and they're near you." The bluenette looked up and locked her eyes on the fighting polar opposites. "I always watched Gray's eyes when he was around me. They never changed. But when Natsu is around, they do."

Erza smiled. "I see."

"But Gray does not." Juvia smiled as well.

Lucy felt bad for the water mage. "I'm sorry Juvia."

Juvia shrugged. "Do not fret, at least we are no longer rivals." Juvia gave a bright smile, took one last look at the fighting duo and walked away. Lucy sweat dropped.

"But... we never were..."

Erza sighing harshly made Lucy look at her. A table was just thrown and like a dart, was stuck in the wall. "These two buffoons..." A dark air glimmered around the red haired woman as she stalked over to Natsu and Gray. "STOP THIS AT ONCE." Murder was drenched in her words making the two squeak and fly apart before molding together and declaring that they were friends.

"Mhmm hm." Erza grumbled and went back to her seat.

Gray let out a sigh, unaware that his arm was still wrapped around Natsu's shoulder. The pinkette had long gone dropped his but now he leaned into Gray's side, startling him. "O-oh, sorry." Gray's arm fell to his side. Natsu shrugged slightly not saying anything.

Lucy watched him follow Gray back to their table and sat down, Gray going back to reading and Natsu sitting just a little closer to him than from before. Lucy walked over and sat down from across from them, trying to keep her smile hidden. A light blush dusted Gray's face as Natsu leaned in close, resting his chin on his shoulder to see what was so interesting about the magazine.

He mumbled something to Gray who looked down at him answering. Lucy didn't hear because she was too distracted by Gray's eyes that had turned completely black.
