A/N: I got a wild response from the last chapter so I guess I'll be doing a mermaid Gratsu story. We'll see how it turns out. :)

This drabble is different. You can interpret it in however way you want to. It doesn't even have to be Gratsu. Personally I was thinking about my own ex while writing this so. :/

Exes

"Stop staring at him."

Mournful look. "I can't help it."

Dramatic sigh. "He's not good for you."

Sad sigh. "I think I made the wrong choice."

Firm voice. "You made the right choice. You're too good for him."

Sad voice. "I miss him."

Growl. "Don't."

Sadder voice. "I want him."

Exasperated sigh. "Why would you want someone who treats you like dirt and makes you nothing but a booty-call?"

Sharp intake of breath. "Our relationship wasn't just sex and arguments!"

Serious tone. "No, but I'm not off the mark. You saw the picture. What does that tell you?"

Silence.

Gentler tone. "Look, I'm not trying to bring you more down than you already are; I just want what's best for you and trust me, he is not."

Thick voice. "But I-"

Soft voice. "I know. He was your first everything. It's hard to just let that go but in given time, you'll have moved on. It's for the best. Besides, it seems like the douche has already begun moving on without you."

Two heads look in the direction of another table full of teens. The cafeteria is full of couples but this one sticks out the most. He's there, surrounded by loud people, with an arm wrapped around her, holding her close to his side. She has her face buried in the crook of his neck and from where they sat, could see her lips leave trails of kisses against his skin.

It's hard to swallow. "That's her."

The girl in the picture that ripped them apart.

Ripped him apart. His heart won't ever heal.

Shuffling. "Let's get out of here before I go over there and smash both of their heads."

Broken whisper. "Why... why does it look like he's moved on?"

Quiet sigh. "Because he has. That's what exes do. Forget him and start moving on yourself. You don't need him holding you back, he's not worth it."

A hand is held out. He takes it sadly. Once more dark eyes stared at the other.

He looks over, returning the stare.

She looks too.

Something shatters.

The sound of a breaking heart.

Thick swallow. "No. I guess he's not."
