As she got ready for graduation, Santana thought back to her love life.
Before she came to Mystic Fall's and got welcome in Rachel's family like it was her own, all she knew of love was that it was overrated and that it always ended. She hadn't really been in love with Puck when she dated him, all she was looking for was some sex and pleasure. The only one she had ever loved, truly, had been Brittany, a girl who was into men.
Tyler had been a distraction and she had let herself believe that it could become a real Love Story, like one in fairy tales but it ended up being just a disillusion on her part. He had betrayed her and she only realised she had let herself love him when he broke her heart.
Now she had to deal with Kol.
He was persistent and seemed to really want to be with her. She knew that he was a gentleman and that he would threat her right, there was no denying this but how long would it last? Could she let herself fall for him and risk being hurt again? She briefly considered asking Rachel for advice but she knew what she would tell her:
"It's worth the risk."
She also knew that Rebekah, Caroline and Damon would tell her the same thing... She had to admit that she had had a few hot dreams were Kol held the main role and she couldn't wait to experience it in real life... Could she have with him what Rachel had with Klaus (except with more sex of course)?
"Are you ready Santana? We're going to be late if we wait any longer..." Rachel told her from the door way.
"Yes, I'm coming." She replied, deciding to let Kol know she was ready to give him a chance once the graduation ceremony was over.
Already a plan was forming in her mind, a way to get the message to him without having to find the right words... She would need help from her friends but she knew they would be happy to help her. That's what friends are for right?
.
As Rachel stood in line to get her diploma with her friends, she was grateful that it was sunny. A day like this one could only be happier and better with a bright sun above their heads. Her uncle was standing right behind her, Santana, Matt, Tyler, Caroline and Rebekah had already gotten their diplomas and none of them fell down on the way. She really hoped that stress didn't make her do anything ridiculous. She didn't know if she would be able to handle it.
It was the end of an era for her friends and her and the beginning of a new one. Everything would change now. She couldn't wait to get started on this new life of hers, one with more Klaus in it, always. She could do with a few drama-less months now.
"Rachel Salvatore" Mayor Lockwood called from the stage.
"Congratulation Rachel." He told her as he handed her the diploma and shook her hand.
"Thank you Mayor Lockwood." She smiled back widely before turning to the crowd and moving her tassel to the other side.
Her father and her boyfriend were cheering wildly for her, so did her friends. Stefan was right behind her and she went back to her seat, letting him have this moment with his brother. Out of all the times he had graduated, this was the first time Stefan did so in his brother's presence and she knew that it was important for him too.
The ceremony had been long but eventually everyone had their diploma and it was over, leaving the people to celebrate the way they wanted.
Even if Elena wasn't friends with them anymore, Rachel had invited her to their party so Jenna, Jeremy and Alaric could be with them for this big celebration. They were at the Boarding house with the Mickealson's, the Forbes, the Lockwood's, the Gilbert's and a few other council members who had been invited.
"I'm so proud of you Princess. You did wonderfully. You're the best daughter I could have hoped for." Damon told Rachel as he hugged her.
"I love you daddy. You're the best dad I could have hoped for too." She smiled.
Damon had given to Rachel, Santana, Caroline and Rebekah the graduation presents he had gotten them the day of the explosion. Thankfully, it had all been under him and protected from the blast. It was jewellery sets with different gem stones for each of them. For his brother, he got a motorcycle and two helmets so he could ride with Caroline.
"Hey Rachel, I've got something for you..." Klaus told her.
"Klaus... You know you didn't have to get me anything... I told you it wasn't necessary." She told him with a smile.
"I know love, that's why I didn't buy you anything. Instead I'm giving you what you like most: I'll sing a duet with you tonight." He told her.
"That's great! Thank you!" She exclaimed, jumping in his arms.
"I knew you'd like that more than anything else." He smiled as he hugged her closer to him, trying to hide his obvious desire.
.
Elena didn't like seeing Stefan so happy with Caroline, her ex friends and she thought that it wasn't fair that Rachel was so happy when she had brought her so much pain but she also knew that she didn't have a choice, she had to behave. She relished in the fact that Rachel would be going to New York soon and that she would be free from her then.
Drinking some fruit juice, she glanced at the crowd and saw her brother laughing with Kol. Did he have to become such good friend with an Original? What did she have to do to be left alone by them?
"What are you plotting now Elena?" Rebekah asked her.
She had approached her from behind and made the last doppelganger jump with surprise.
"Nothing." Elena replied.
"You know that your heart jumps every time you lie, right?" The blond vampire asked her.
"What do you want? Shouldn't you be playing house with Damon or something?" Elena asked her with a frown.
"You almost sound jealous... Now, be a good girl and listen to my warning. Rachel is a great girl and I think she's been merciful enough with you. Had you done to me everything you've done to her you'd be long dead already. If you don't want me to hurt you, you better give up any idea you have of hurting her or her family because I will break you. I also suggest you stop giving your brother a hard time because of his friendship with my brother Kol. They're happy, it's what should be important. I've lived a long time and can give you an advice: find a way to get rid of your anger before it eats you up and one day you wake up to realise it has eaten all of your life away and that you have nothing left. Congratulation on your diploma. You should take that as an opportunity for a new beginning." Rebekah said before she turned around and left, leaving behind her a very thoughtful Elena.
