Rachel had been surprised when she got a personal invitation by Carmen Thibodeaux to perform at the winter Showcase but she didn't let it go to her head and she practiced as hard as she could. She had a hard time deciding on a song but eventually, she made her choice and practiced her song of choice until she had it down to perfection.
When the day of the Showcase came, Klaus, Kol and Santana went with her and they were surprised to see Brody there.
"It's not that surprising, he goes to this school right? Maybe he has a friend that performs or something." Kol said to try and ease his brother's mind.
"Yeah, maybe... I still think that he's here for Rachel." Klaus replied, making his brother chuckle.
At first, the winner from the previous year started the show with a very talented and pretty dance number. Rachel was 4th on the performance list and when her turn finally came, she realised that Cassandra July was in the audience. If the woman's presence stressed Rachel at first, one look from Klaus calmed her down and she started singing "To Love you more" as soon as the music started.
When she was done singing, everyone clapped and cheered for her, asking for another song. It was unheard off and Rachel was moved by the popularity of her number. She glanced at Carmen Thibodeaux and the woman looked very pleased, proud even, of Rachel's song. Since the audience was asking her for another song, Rachel asked Carmen with one look and when the woman nodded and motioned for Rachel to stay on stage.
Rachel then went to talk to the musicians and came back in front of everyone and started to sing "Oh holy night" beautifully. It was one of her favourite Christmas songs and she had sung it so many times before in her life that it came naturally to her.
Once again, the audience was more than pleased with her song and the way she beautifully used her voice because, at the end of the night, she was declared the obvious winner of the showcase.
As fun as this night was, it was also the beginning of Winter break and as soon as this was over, they all went to a restaurant to eat and celebrate. The next morning, they would be on their way to Mystic Fall's for yet another family vacation, with, this time, Elijah, Sage Finn and even Puck joining in on the fun.

Brody tried not to let the vision of beauty that was Rachel at the Winter Showcase change his mind. He needed to stay focused on the plan. With Kurt, they had decided that the first step of their plan should be to desiccate Klaus and hide his body. With him out of the picture, it would be easier to get to Rachel and manipulate her. Her father, friends and family all lived way too far to be a real threat to them anyway.
As long as they did it when Rachel was busy, Kurt would simply have to keep Santana busy while this was all happening. He would just pretend he wants to work on their friendship and meet her boyfriend. It would work, they knew it.
As for the timing, they decided to do it as soon as they came back from their winter break. Waiting for after class started again would only give Rachel time to remember that he existed and that he was planning something.
He didn't want to trust the guy but Brody knew that he didn't have a choice if he wanted Rachel. He had to trust this boy who was green with envy every time someone mentioned Rachel's marvellous performance at the winter Showcase. To be able to trust him better, he gave him some vervain to drink so he couldn't be compelled by Rachel or anyone else.
Anyway, if he had been thinking of giving up on his plan to use Rachel for his own success, his Christmas holidays only confirmed that he needed to do it. Spending so much time in the presence of his siblings and the rest of his family only made him more determined in using the hybrid witch. All of his elder siblings managed to accomplish something great. One was working for the FBI, another was a hot shot Lawyer, or a college professor, married into high society, a famous chef in a 5 stars restaurant... He needed to show them all that he was more than what they saw, that he was the real talent in the family.

When Rachel and Klaus came back from Christmas vacations, not only Kol and Santana came back with them but so did Damon and Rebekah who were planning on staying around for a few weeks.
Kurt knew that they had to act quickly so he 'accidentally' ran into Santana as she walked out of a coffee shop with Kol and he used this occasion to act friendly with her and suggested they met up later that night to catch up. Of course Santana wasn't stupid and she immediately thought back to his promise to ruin Rachel's life so she tried to compel him to say what was on his mind. When it didn't work, she only got more suspicious and she grabbed him and forcefully took him back to the apartment.
Since everyone was home, there was no way for the gay boy to escape and if they couldn't compel him, Rachel had a few tricks up her sleeve, even if it would be painful for him. Rachel used her powers to burn the vervain out of Kurt's body, trying not to get distracted by all of his screams and once this was done, they started asking him questions.
"So, what is your plan exactly?" Santana asked her.
"My plan is to get into NYADA, become a great Broadway star, be super famous, rub it in everyone's nose in Lima and date a hot male model. Then we'll adopt a poor foreign child and it'll be on the cover of every people's magazine. Eventually I'll have my own TV show and be know throughout the world." Kurt replied, not having a choice but to tell the truth.
"How about something more specific. Why did you want to talk to Santana?" Kol asked Kurt.
"I wanted to keep Santana busy so that Brody's coven could desiccate Klaus." Kurt replied.
"Why does Brody want to desiccate Klaus?" Rachel asked, anger audible in her voice.
"Once Klaus is desiccated, Brody plans on kidnapping Rachel and blocking her powers with ancient spells and herbs so he can force her to give him heirs. Eventually she'll be broken and willingly do everything he wants." Kurt revealed, infuriating everyone in the room.
"That little piece of shit! He doesn't know who he's up against!" Rebekah growled.
"How dare he!" Klaus growled while Rachel paled and sat down.
"He...he's planning on raping me?" Rachel asked, tears in her eyes.
"He didn't think of it until I suggested the idea to him. All he wants is power, no matter the cost." Kurt replied.
Immediately, Damon, Santana and Klaus went to hug Rachel and reassured her while Rebekah and Kol compelled Kurt to forget his anger towards Rachel and to work on achieving his dreams without hurting anyone in the process. They had considered killing him but they knew that it would only sadden Rachel to know that she was the cause of his death. As they compelled him, they tried to insert a bit of sensibility and humanity in this human boy who acted as though he had less humanity in him that Klaus in his worst moments, which was saying something.
"Don't worry Rachel, he won't do anything to you. I won't let him, you know that." Klaus whispered in her ear.
"We need a plan because the fact that Kurt doesn't work for him anymore won't stop him... We... we need allies in case his coven has more allies than he pretends." Rachel managed to say.
"Before we compelled him to forget everything and to leave, Kurt revealed that Brody was planning on channeling the power of his entire living family and his entire bloodline...every member of his coven is doing the same..." Kol informed her.
"That's a lot of power... I'll call my witch contacts in town. I'll track Brody down and with the witches we'll surround him and take his powers away from him. Let him make it in life without magic. He can be a professional gigolo forever for all I care." Rachel decided before she grabbed a map of New York and her phone.
