After that unfortunate event, things calmed down.

Rachel had been afraid that Brody and his coven might try to get revenge on her on a more human level but they didn't. The few times she crossed one of them on the street, he would look down and walk away from her. Apparently, they were now really afraid of her and she later found out by a witch friend of hers that their respective families had seriously been pissed off at them. Most of them had been grounded as if they were still teenagers, others had been cut off financially. All in all, all of them had been punished one way or another and none of them wanted to die, so they stayed away from Rachel and her loved ones.

A few weeks before spring break, Rachel learned that there would be open auditions for Funny Girl, so she rushed to try out for the main role, the one she had been dreaming about her entire life with the full support of her friends and family, even the ones who were far away from her.

She obviously had been great during those auditions because she was called back twice and eventually, she got the call announcing her that she had been selected, that she was the perfect Fanny.

Excited didn't even start to cover her state of mind when she got the news and she rushed to announce the good news to everyone she knew.

Needless to say that they were all very proud of her and everyone promised to get tickets to see her at some point during the representations. Her father and Rebekah even decided to move to New York for the duration of the representations so that they could see her often and support her if needed.

Word of her role had even spread quickly through the supernatural grapevine and a lot of vampires, witches or even werewolves who wanted to meet Rachel and Klaus took tickets to this musical in hope to meet the powerful couple or even to gain good points. Some vampires or other supernatural who had angered Klaus in the past used this opportunity to try and make peace with him.

At first, Klaus had been jealous of the main male role because of all the time he got to spend with Rachel, holding her close and everything but Rachel did her best to reassure him. Deep down, Klaus knew that he had nothing to worry about, that Rachel and him were going strong and that it would take more than a cute Broadway actor to break them up. If even Brody hadn't been able to break them up, nobody would. With that in mind, Klaus did his best to get to know the man and understood that he had no romantic interest in Rachel and simply saw her as a great stage partner, nothing more.

During Spring break, Damon and Rebekah got married, just like they had planned and nothing came to darken their perfect day, just like nothing clouded Jeremy's graduation or Alaric and Jenna's wedding. Even Elena had played nice with everyone during all of those occasions.

A couple of weeks after Alaric and Jenna's wedding, Sage and Finn adopted a little 5 years old boy and his 1 year old sister who had witch parents that got killed in an accident (presumably caused by a young vampire). Being parents wasn't easy for them but they made it and they even moved in a house that would be only theirs so they could look like a real family. The boy, Nate, had a hard time trusting his new parents at first but they eventually won him over. Sage was now very thankful for the time she had spent with Rachel when she was a little girl. It had helped her prepare for this moment.

.

Rachel was talented and this new version of Funny Girl made her famous, she was even in a few popular newspapers because of it.

As a result of this success, Rachel won her first Tony Award, for her role as Fanny, when she was 20.

Everyone was very happy for her and it resulted in her getting a lot of other propositions, both from Broadway and Hollywood for when she decided to stop playing in Funny Girl, which wasn't anytime soon. It was her dream role and as long as it was on Broadway, she would play it.

.

On day, in the audience, Rachel swore she saw Shelby Corcoran present, along with a young blond girl. She could have gone to find her, ask her why she was there, if she was trying to reach out to her but she didn't. She didn't need her mother in her life anymore, she had outgrown that stage of her life. Still, remembering the smile on Shelby's face as she clapped at the end of the show pleased Rachel. She decided to keep this moment in her mind to remember her mother for the rest of her life.

.

Klaus, too, reunited with a few of his friends over the years, people who came at the representations in hope to see Klaus there or to be able to speak with Rachel and ask her to give Klaus a good word for them.

At some point, his old protege Marcel came to see the representation along with a young witch called Davina. It had resulted in very heated explanations where a few people almost died because Klaus believed Marcel to be dead and learned how his protege had allied with Mickeal back in 1919 but eventually, they had made peace and Rachel helped Davina get rid of the powers she didn't want.

Despite Davina's desire to punish the other witches of New Orleans and to take their own powers away, Rachel simply sent them a warning, telling them to find another way to practice their magic and that if they did another harvest, she would take all of their powers away, for good this time.

Marcel had been a little sad to learn that Rebekah had forgotten about him and married another man but when he met up with her and Damon later, they realised that there was no more love between them, only friendship and that maybe Klaus had been right when he said that the two of them would never work out together.

Marcel had to go back to the French Quarters at some point but Davina was offered to stay in New York with Damon and Rebekah and she was more than happy to agree, especially since Marcel promised to visit every so often. It was her opportunity to start over and have a new life with people she knew she could trust, far away from the witches that were probably pissed off at her.

During one of Marcel visit, he brought with him one of the witches, a woman named Sabine who wanted to talk with Elijah.

Rachel immediately sensed that the woman was hiding something and Sabine revealed to Elijah that she was Celeste, that she had moved her spirit from one body to the other until the day she could get her revenge on Klaus, only to find out about Rachel and deciding to give up on her revenge since Klaus had changed so much.

With Rachel's help and a lot of researches, Celeste was eventually capable of coming back in her own body and Elijah and her worked on their couple before she decided to give up on being a witch and to become a vampire to be with Elijah forever without having to jump into another woman's body every few decades.

.

Rachel played the role of Fanny for a few years and she loved it.

She had been invited to present an award at the Tony's that specific year and to sing a duet with Barbara Streisand.

On that very night, she had learned some good news that she couldn't wait to share with Klaus. She knew that he would be shocked and surprised but she also knew that in the end, he'd be happy about it.

"So, Love, what's next now that you're a superstar like you dreamed? I know we planned a small break on the island but what do you want to do after this?" Klaus asked her as they packed a few bags to go to their private island.

Rachel had informed him of her decision to stop Funny girl, after several years of playing the role of her dreams.

"Well, you know how we talked of settling down, maybe going back to our Island for a while, then to Mystic Fall's?" She asked him.

"Of course I do but we have time, I told you, I'm fine doing whatever it is you need to do." He smiled kindly at her.

"I know... What I'm trying to say is that I want us to do it now." She said.

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely." She told him, wondering if she'd be able to tell him what she was actually going to tell him.

"What is it Love? I can tell you're nervous. You can tell me, I promise I'll be fine with anything." Klaus insisted and Rachel took a big breath.

"You know that every year I make a contraception potion that works for an entire year so that I don't have to worry about it?" She asked him.

"Of course. Why?" he didn't see where this was going.

"Well, this year, I kind of missed the right time to make it. It fell right in the middle of all the last representations of Funny Girl and I completely forgot with the rush of everything... I didn't think much out of it and only realised I forgot it the day of the Tony Awards...When I realised that I was a little over 1 month late." She explained, trying to be clear and not too blush.

"I... Are you trying to say what I think you're saying? Is it even possible?" He asked her.

"Well, I did a test...a magical one, right before the Tony's last night and it was positive... Apparently it's possible." She smiled at him.

"You're pregnant?" He asked her with a blank face.

"Yes, I am." She replied.

"We're having a baby?" He asked her once more and she nodded.

"Are you happy? Angry? Sad?" She asked him when she noticed his face wasn't changing at all after a few minutes.

"Happy? Of course I'm happy love! I didn't even think that it could be possible for us... But are you sure that it's what you want right now? You don't want to take another job on Broadway?"

"I already played the main role of my all time favourite play, there's nothing else I want more. All I want now is for us to be the family we can be." She assured him.

"I can't believe it...we're going to be parents... I'm going to be a father..." He exclaimed before he took Rachel in his arms and hugged her close to him, spinning her around the room.

.

Instead of going to the Island like they had initially planned, Klaus and Rachel went to Mystic Fall's to tell everyone about their big news.

They packed a few bags and while Klaus went to sign a few papers at the school he used to teach, Rachel started packing their bags. They weren't going to take everything and were going to leave a lot of things behind. Rachel had already packed their bags and since she had been very busy with her musical, she hadn't had much time to look at her Love's recent artwork so she went in his art room and looked around to his most recent paintings and drawings. A few of them were of her or related to the love he had for her and it moved her.

In the corner of the room, she saw that he had already packed a bag with a few items he wanted to take with him from this room and as she went to move it with the rest of the things they were taking with them, it fell over and a small jewelry box fell out of it. Curious, she opened the box and cried when she realised it was, in fact, an engagement ring, perfectly sized for her. It was the most beautiful ring she had ever seen and she took it out to look at it better and saw that her name was engraved on the inside, along with Klaus' name, a star and the date of the first time they had met.

She was about to try it on when she heard his distinctive footstep in the corridor. Not wanting to force him to propose now when he probably had something special planed, she put it back inside, closed the bag and erased her tears, planning to keep the secret of what she had found until after he proposed. He would ask her when he wanted to ask her and when he did, she knew that she's say yes.

.

Klaus and Rachel arrived in Mystic Fall's for a big family (and friends) reunion and they told everyone their surprising good news. Of course everyone was very happy, even if Damon wasn't too happy about being a grandfather, especially since Stefan and Alaric loved to tease him with this fact. For his part, Klaus took great pleasure in teasing Rebekah with the fact that since she married Damon, that made her both an aunt and a step grandmother to the coming baby.

All in all, there was happiness all around and if Rachel knew that it wouldn't last forever, she was happy to be able to enjoy this peace while it lasted. She also knew that if anyone came after her or someone she loved again, they would be fine.

Here it is, the last, final, chapter of this fiction.

I wanted to make a bigger deal of the whole Marcel / Davina / Celeste / Klaus / Elijah thing but it would have taken several more chapters and I didn't want that. I think this story had been long enough. Maybe I'll write a little something extra later, maybe next year, for this story's anniversary, if you ask me to.

I hope you enjoyed it and that I managed to brighten your days a little bit with this fiction. If I did, then I did my job.

What was your favorite moment of the entire story? Which one do you remember the most?

This is the last time you can review this story so...Please go ahead and leave me a big review. I promise that for this chapter I'll answer EVERYONE (well, everyone that is logged in).

Thank you for sticking with me for so long (150 chapters!).

I love you guys,
