Cassandra and the Half-Blood Prince
The next chapter of One Piece: Final Holy War is out. Sorry if this story doesn't update very frequently but life in general is getting in the way. But I'll try to update as early as possible. Anyway enjoy and hope to see many reviews.
"What happened?" asked Otohime.
"I have a son," said Cassandra.
Otohime had a serious look on her face. While it was no surprise that Cassandra had a child, the look on her face and the pain she sensed from the Tenryuubito told her that it had something to do with him. Also the other Tenryuubito having a heavy dislike for her worsened matters.
"I have a son, but not with any of the other Tenryuubito," said Cassandra softly.
"I see," replied Otohime now beginning to understand the situation.
If Cassandra didn't have a child with another world noble, then it was obvious she had the child with a commoner. That by itself would create a huge scandal for the world government, particularly the world nobles.
"Yes she had a child with …" said one of the cleaners only to be cut off by Shepherd who quickly signaled her to not reveal the father.
Otohime being as observant as she was and possessing kenbunshoku haki noticed the interaction and quickly deduced that they didn't want her to know who the father was. But she wouldn't press, if Cassandra didn't want her to know who the father was, then she would accept that. As of right now Cassandra was in too much pain and she wouldn't add to it.
"Yes I had a child with someone who wasn't a Tenryuubito. You can imagine the scandal that created when the other Tenryuubito found out," said Cassandra.
"They wanted to kill my son," said Cassandra now openly crying.
Otohime couldn't help but place her hands on her mouth as she gasped in shock.
"H – H - How terrible," said a shocked Otohime.
"They wanted to kill my son. They wanted to kill my baby boy," said Cassandra crying hysterically.
The servants quickly converged around Cassandra and the female ones hugged her gently. They didn't hug her because of how she saved them or how she's family, they hugged a grieving mother.
"The other Tenryuubito saw Cassandra having a child with a commoner as corrupting their pure blood, as contaminating the blood of the creators. They didn't want that, so they tried to have the baby killed," said Shepherd.
"How awful, how could they do that to a baby, and one of their own," said Otohime showing anger for the first time.
She just couldn't believe the cruelty of the Tenryuubito. She knew that they were tyrannical and cruel beyond belief and believed in blood purity but she couldn't believe that their beliefs ran so deep that they would kill a baby. And worse, the baby was related to them. The Tenryuubito now sunk to a new low in her eyes.
"Luckily we were able to save the baby. The father was able to get the baby out of Mariejois before they could kill him so he survived," said Shepherd.
"Thank god," said a revealed Otohime.
Even though it wasn't her baby, it was still a baby and Otohime would never want to see a baby die, especially not one belonging to one of her closest friends and someone as kind hearted as Cassandra.
"So that's why the other Tenryuubito look down on her so much. I thought it was because of how she's so different from the other Tenryuubito that she was hated so much. Now I see why, because she had a child with someone not of noble blood and worse yet for them, the child survived," said Otohime understandingly.
"Well they did look down on her even before she had a child. But when she did have one with a commoner, they're hate for her increased dramatically," said Shepherd.
"Anyway as I was saying, unfortunately the other Tenryuubito were enraged that the child was not only alive but escaped as well. To them their pure blood was in jeopardy. Since they couldn't get the baby, they focused their wrath on the mother, Cassandra herself," said Shepherd.
"They couldn't kill her since if it was known that the Tenryuubito had killed one of their own, it would cause a great scandal that could result in the collapse of the world government. It would mean that there was internal conflict within the world government royal hierarchy and possibly throw the entire world government into chaos. Furthermore enemies of the world government would definitely pounce on the opportunity," explained Shepherd.
"So the Gorosei came up with a solution that the Tenryuubito agreed to. Cassandra would be restricted to Mariejois and never allowed to leave. Furthermore she would be under constant surveillance and her activities heavily monitored. This way, it ensured that the bloodline of royalty of the world government would never be compromised ever again. Since she couldn't leave Mariejois, she would never see her child ever again and being under constant watch would mean that should she ever get another child or try anything out of the ordinary, they would know and take appropriate action," Shepherd continued to explain.
Otohime continued to listen intently.
"For the Gorosei it was simply a means of protecting the world government but for the Tenryuubito it was punishment for her actions. The other Tenryuubito knew that Cassandra loved to go outside Mariejois and explore so being confined here was a very harsh punishment. It meant that she couldn't see any of her friends at Sabody or anywhere outside Mariejois. But worse of all, it meant never being able to see her son again," continued Shepherd's explanation.
"Mariejois was a nothing but a prison for her. Never going anywhere, being unable to see her friends and worst of all, unable to ever see her son, it was a terrible fate indeed, one worse than death." said Shepherd softly.
There was silence for a few seconds accompanied by Cassandra's sobs and the servants trying to comfort her.
"For the baby there were only two fates, either be killed or converted to their way of thinking, both terrible fates for the baby. Getting him out of Mariejois was the best choice but even then, for a child to be taken away from her mother, I can't think of anything worse," said Barry breaking the silence.
"After that day, I never got to see my son. I never got to hold him, to hear his first words, to see his first steps, to watch play with other children, to watch him grow. In fact because everything happened so fast, I didn't even get to name him. I missed feeding him, teaching him how to speak, I missed being his mother," said the grieving Cassandra.
"My son, my darling, my baby boy," said Cassandra again crying hysterically.
The servants were again trying to comfort the grieving mother while Otohime looked at her sadly. Now she knew why she sensed great anguish from her. She was separated from her child. For a mother, that was the worst thing in the world. Even if it was for the best, it doesn't change the fact that she could never see her child. She couldn't imagine being separated from Shirahoshi, or any of her children for that matter. It is literally true hell for any mother and not something should would ever wish on any mother. To think such a thing could happen to one as kind as Cassandra. It just wasn't fair, Cassandra was perhaps the kindest person she ever knew, the last person to ever deserve such suffering. Otohime knew Cassandra would have been a great mother and it pained her to think that her child was denied a mother as wonderful as Cassandra. The Tenryuubito ruined her life and the life of her son. Truly there was no justice in the world.
Still there was something she had to do to help the grieving mother. She knew it wasn't much but it was the least she could have done for the kind woman in front of her who not only has done so much to help, but also pledged to help bring humans and fishmen together.
"Cassandra-chan, you know I have a daughter. She's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. And if it's your son, then I'm sure he would be equally as beautiful. So how about we make a promise," said Otohime softly.
Wiping her tears Cassandra looked at Otohime.
"Promise," she said while still wiping away her tears.
"Yes. Let's promise then when we get humans and fishmen to accept each other, our two children will become friends. Your son and my daughter, in a world where humans and fishmen coexist, don't you think that would be great. They'll be just like you and me," said Otohime softly.
Cassandra looked at Otohime before smiling. Removing herself from the arms of her female servants she moved closer to Otohime.
"Yeah it would be," said Cassandra smiling for the first time since remembering her son.
Otohime then extended her pinkie finger out.
"Promise then," said Otohime with a smile.
"Promise," replied Cassandra back extending her own pinkie finger out.
The two women joined their pinkie fingers together in a pinkie promise to one day, when the two races got together, have their two children become friends. It was not like some of the other false promises the world government has been known to make. It was a real promise between a mermaid queen and a world noble, no it was a promise between two best friends to have their children get together. There was no written agreement between the two, only their words as best friends to keep that promise.
A week later, Otohime decided it was time to leave. She knew that her family and people were very worried about her but she had to stay since Cassandra was like a little sister to her. Furthermore she had to stay to at least get Cassandra out of her depression after finding out about her separation from her son. It was the least she could have done since she saved her from Saint Mjosgard and pledged to give her assistance in getting humans and fishmen to accept each other.
Right now she was at the gates of Mariejois preparing to leave for the docks. Cassandra would have liked to escort her down but she was still confined to Mariejois so she couldn't leave.
"Well I guess this is it," said Otohime.
"Yeah," said Cassandra with a sad smile.
"Hey don't be like that. We'll see each other again, most likely at Reverie," said Otohime.
"You're right. Oh by the way, here is the letter showing that I'll give you my support in helping humans and fishmen establish better relations. All you have to do is get as many signatures as you could to show at Reverie. The more you get, the better it would be," said Cassandra handing Otohime the letter.
"Thank you," said Otohime accepting the letter.
Otohime took a few minutes to read the paper.
"This is it, this is the Hope of Fishman Island," thought Otohime.
"Thank you for this. I just can't express how much this means to me. This single piece of paper represents a chance for a better future for the children of Fishman Island. I can't thank you enough for this," thanked Otohime gratefully.
"No it is you that I should be thanking," said Cassandra with a smile.
Otohime looked at Cassandra curiously so she chose to explain.
"You helped me out of my depression. For a while I've been so depressed, that I didn't think I'd ever recover. But you came and helped me out of it. I finally got to make a new friend after being unable to see most of them. And you gave me hope for a good life for my son. If your daughter is anything like you Otohime-sama, then my son would surely be happy and make a great friend. And that is the greatest wish for any mother," answered Cassandra explaining why she should thank Otohime.
Otohime smiled back in return.
"We also wish to thank you Otohime-sama. You helped Cassandra out greatly. We didn't think anything would ever make her feel better. And we just didn't know what to do anymore until you arrived and healed her," said Shepherd.
Then Shepherd, Barry and other of Otohime's servants got on their knees and bowed down to her.
"Thank you for helping her," said all of them together.
"All of you stand up, there's no need to thank me, Cassandra-chan is like a little sister to me and she helped me out a lot as well," replied Otohime.
"Besides everyone I want you all to do me a favor and take good care of her for me. Since I'll be gone she'll need you all for strength," said Otohime.
"We will Otohime-sama," replied all of Cassandra's servants.
With that Otohime finally left to return back to Fishman Island. From the gates of Mariejois on top the Red Line, Cassandra continued to look at the direction Otohime left in. She had a smile on her face, the first real smile in a long time.
"Are you all right Cassandra-sama?" asked Shepherd.
Cassandra wiped away a few tears of happiness before turning to her butler.
"I'm fine Shepherd-san, in fact I haven't felt this good in a long time," answered Cassandra back with a happy smile.
Shepherd, Barry and the rest of the servants smiled back in response. The smile that Cassandra had was the first they had seen on her in a long time, far too long in their opinion. They were glad that finally Cassandra found some peace. She deserved it after everything she's been through.
Meanwhile on the ship on the way to Fishman Island, Otohime continued to look at the paper in her hands, the Hope of Fishman Island, the hope given to her by her best friend and sister, the world noble Saint Cassandra.
"Just you wait Cassandra, with this one sheet of paper I can make a world where humans and fishmen can live happily together. And then your son and my daughter can get together. Then you can finally be truly happy," thought Otohime.
Otohime then looked at the scenery on the way back to Fishman Island, thinking of how things are going to change on Fishman Island. But she knew one thing, regardless of how things changed, she made a new friend, a new sister and she would give it her all to making her dream a reality, not just for her family and her people, but for Cassandra as well.
End Flashback
By the end of Sanbi's tale, no one could believe what they just heard. Sanbi all but confirmed that Luffy's mother was not only a Tenryuubito, but that she was also a close friend of Queen Otohime. It was all so hard for everyone to believe, yet at the same time it made complete sense.
"So that's how mother was able to get that letter from the Tenryuubito," said Fukaboshi.
"Yes, it was given to her by Luffy's mother," replied Sanbi.
Luffy's mother being a Tenryuubito certainly explained how Otohime obtained the letter from the Tenryuubito pledging the support of the world nobles to improving relations between humans and fishmen. From what they knew about the Tenryuubito, it was obvious that they would never agree to such a thing. Yet Otohime was somehow able to get them to agree and came back with "The Hope of Fishman Island." None of the citizens could figure out how Otohime was able to get the world nobles to agree to such a thing. When Saint Mjosgard left Fishman Island, he was not thankful for them for saving his life and repairing his ship but instead was spiteful and bitter, to the point of getting even. How was it that Otohime got people so bitter and cruel to actually agree to helping them? The answer was it didn't come from just any world noble, but a very special one, it came from the mother of Monkey D Luffy, Saint Cassandra.
"I, I can't believe that there exists such a Tenryuubito, but then again, she is Luffy's mother," said Jinbe.
"Indeed she was, a true angel. Dragon-sama would never have anyone less as his spouse and no one less than her can be the spouse of the Revolutionary Leader," said Sanbi.
From what they all just heard about the Tenryuubito Saint Cassandra, she was an angel. She was dedicated to helping the slaves of Mariejois, even at her own expense and risking the wrath of the other Tenryuubito. She went out of her way to adopt the slaves the other world nobles didn't want in order to help them and give them better lives. She even tried to help those who weren't her slaves. The slaves became so grateful that they became a family to her, more of a family than her real family. In fact she was so well loved, that even the citizens of Sabody Archipelago protected her many times. They would never expect such things from a Tenryuubito, but they certainly would from Luffy's mother, regardless of her nature or heritage.
"Princess Vivi, princess Shirahoshi, looking at you two, is like looking at Otohime and Cassandra themselves," said Sanbi.
Vivi and Shirahoshi thought about it and realized that the relationship between them was indeed similar to the one between Queen Otohime and Saint Cassandra. Vivi was a noble human girl just as Cassandra was a world noble while Otohime was a mermaid just like Shirahoshi was. Otohime and Cassandra got along very well very quickly despite meeting for the first time just like Vivi and Shirahoshi did. Vivi and Shirahoshi became best friends practically sisters just like Cassandra and Otohime despite one being a human and the other a fishman. Vivi was outgoing and intelligent like Otohime while Shirahoshi was naïve and inexperienced like Cassandra. Vivi wants humans and fishmen to get along and pledged to help Shirahoshi just like Cassandra did for Otohime. Otohime getting Cassandra out of her depression over Luffy is similar to how Vivi helped Shirahoshi out of her depression over Luffy.
"Interestingly the promise that Otohime and Cassandra made regarding Luffy and princess Shirahoshi, it did come true. After Luffy came to Fishman Island, fishmen are now more accepting of humans, furthermore Luffy and princess Shirahoshi became friends just like Otohime and Cassandra promised each other," noted Sanbi.
This got everyone thinking again and realized that it was true. Cassandra and Otohime made a promise that when humans and fishmen got along, then their son and daughter would become friends. When the Straw Hats came to Fishman Island and saved it from the New Fishman Pirates, that promise did somewhat come true. The citizens here were now more accepting of humans just like they wanted. But most importantly, Luffy and Shirahoshi indeed became friends. In fact Shirahoshi developed romantic feelings for Luffy. It was almost as if destiny was guiding Luffy and Shirahoshi to fulfill the promise that their mothers made long ago.
"But you know when you think about it, that Cassandra woman does sound a lot like Luffy," said Usopp.
"Yeah that woman does have a lot in common with Luffy," said Zoro agreeing with Usopp.
The other Straw Hats thought about it and began to notice the numerous similarities between Cassandra and Luffy. Both Luffy and Cassandra were adventurous with Luffy always wanting to go on adventures and Cassandra always wanting to go outside of Mariejois presumably because she wants to see what's outside of it. Both Luffy and Cassandra have helped completely strangers for no reasons other than they wanted to with Luffy helping many of his crew before he knew them along with numerous other people and Cassandra always helping the slaves at Mariejois. Cassandra and Luffy were both fairly stupid, Cassandra because she was naïve and sheltered due to being a world noble and Luffy was simply a moron. The relationship between Luffy and his crew was similar to the one Cassandra had with her servants, the crew was family to Luffy just Cassandra's servants were family to her. The entire crew owed Luffy their lives when he saved them all and so did Cassandra's servants when she took them in. The people of Sabody Archipelago loving Cassandra despite her being a Tenryuubito was similar to how everyone that Luffy met loved him despite him being a pirate.
Now that they knew that identity of both of Luffy's parents, they now understood where Luffy got all his qualities from. He got his power, combat abilities, charisma and leadership skills from his father. He however did not get his intelligence, dark ambitions or dangerous mind from him. Instead he got his mother's stupidity, thirst for adventure, love for his nakama and other friends, and need to help others from his mother. He obviously did not get her physical weakness as she was a world noble and expectedly physically frail. Indeed Luffy received the best qualities of both his parents yet none of their bad qualities. He was indeed the perfect union of the two, the ultimate combination of two of the most influential people in the world, the Revolutionary Leader Monkey D Dragon and the World Noble Saint Cassandra. Luffy was pretty much a half angel – half demon. His angel half came from his mother while his demon half came from his father. Ironically his angel half came from a Tenryuubito who are generally known as the cruelest individuals in the world while his demon half came from a D who are known as some of the strongest and most heroic people in the world.
For Nami, Robin, Vivi and Shirahoshi they still found it hard to believe that the mother of their savior, hero and love interest was a world noble, that the woman they all wanted to meet to thank for bringing Luffy into the world to save them was one of those cruel tyrannical Tenryuubito. Yet it made sense, in fact Cassandra being Luffy's mother made more sense that Dragon being Luffy's father due to the Luffy's great personality. They were all happy that Luffy had such a wonderful mother. It was because of her that Luffy turned into the fine young man that he was. To think a world noble could be such a fine woman to mother someone like Luffy. She was truly a great woman and they wanted to meet her.
"Saint Cassandra's action influenced almost all of Fishman Island. The letter that became the Hope of Fishman Island, her friendship with Queen Otohime, even Fisher Tiger escaping Mariejois the first time only to return and free the slaves was due to her actions," revealed Sanbi.
That part again got a shocked reaction out of everyone.
"What do you mean?" asked Neptune.
"Mariejois is the center of the world government where the Gorosei and the Tenryuubito reside. It is virtually impenetrable and inescapable, do you really think just one person would be able to escape?" said Sanbi.
This got everything thinking. It was well known that because Mariejois was the center of the world government that security was very tight so invading and escaping was impossible. The revolutionary army was able to do it because they had the extremely powerful Knights of D but Tiger as strong as he is was nowhere near that level of strength. Escaping should have been impossible.
"So are you saying that it was because of Luffy's mother than Tiger escaped," said Fukaboshi.
"That is correct. Tiger was much stronger than a typical fishman and as a result was overworked much harder than a regular fishman or slave. Cassandra wanted to help him but because he was Saint Mjosgard's slave, not hers so she couldn't do anything much. But Tiger's treatment was so brutal that Cassandra just had to intervene. She snuck in his cell and quietly freed him and showed him the way out," explained Sanbi.
"Of course Tiger couldn't just leave the other slaves to suffer so he climbed the Red Line and infiltrated Mariejois the same way he escaped with Cassandra's help. Luckily no one found out that Cassandra aided in his escape the first time so she wasn't punished. Had they found out, they would have killed her for sure. After all it was bad enough that she had a child with a none Tenryuubito but to help a slave escape, and a slave that didn't belong to her of all things, it would have been certain death had she been caught," said Sanbi.
That information again left everyone flabbergasted. Cassandra was the one who gave Otohime the sheet of paper to allow fishman and humans to foster better relationships, the promise she made with Otohime was passed down to Luffy who saved Ryuuga Kingdom and became friends with Shirahoshi. But now they also found out that the reason Tiger escaped Mariejois was because of Cassandra. If Cassandra didn't do what she did, Tiger would have never escaped and him along with many of the Sun Pirates and former Sun Pirates would have still been slaves.
While it was a huge revelation for all of Fishman Island, it applied none more so that the members of the Sun Pirates many of whom were actually slaves. If it weren't for Monkey D Luffy's mother, they would have definitely still been slaves. They would still be at Mariejois suffering at Saint Mjosgard's tyranny. It was something they didn't want to think about.
"But you know, it now makes sense," said Alladin.
Jinbe turned to the doctor of the Sun Pirates for an explanation.
"With the amount of suffering the Tiger-san endured at Mariejois, he should have turned into someone who hated humans. But he didn't. While he hated most humans, he admitted that there were some good ones, too few for him to forgive, but still. I'm guessing that he was referring to Cassandra," said Alladin.
Jinbe looked at Alladin wanting him to continue.
"It would also somewhat explain some of his other actions like breaking it Mariejois. Since Cassandra gave him freedom, he felt that he shouldn't waste that freedom and instead repay her by using it to free the other slaves. After all Cassandra herself wanted to help them," explained Alladin.
"There was also Tiger's taking Koala in. Maybe he knew that Cassandra had a son and Koala was near his age, perhaps older by a few years but still, she was near Cassandra's son's age. And by taking her in, he felt as if he's helping Cassandra's child due to both being close in age. Bringing Koala back to her parents was almost like bringing Cassandra's son back to her. It would be the perfect way to repay her," explained Alladin.
Jinbe narrowed his eyes as he thought about it and realized that it did make sense. Though Tiger never told them any of this even on the verge of death, given the situation at the time, he couldn't blame it. Many of Tiger's actions were not just to free the slaves, but to repay Luffy's mother for giving him freedom. It certainly explained a lot of his actions and why he did certain things. In fact Jinbe was so sure that if Tiger's ghost came back, he would confirm it himself.
"Straw Hats, Princess Vivi, Princess Shirahoshi," called out Sanbi.
The Straw Hats, Vivi and Shirahoshi payed attention to Sanbi when he called out to them. Whatever he was about to say was certainly meant for them.
"This is why he hates the world government so much. Among other reasons such as the death of his brother was what they did to his mother. As a child they tried to kill him. But that wasn't all. They separated him from his mother. He may not have shown it but any child would always want to know about their mother. The worst of their crimes against him and Cassandra was the pain they put her through. Can you imagine what she had to go through? She was a prisoner at Mariejois forbidden from leaving, unable to see any of her friends," explained Sanbi about why Luffy hates the world government.
"But the most grievous of their crimes was to separate her from Luffy. To separate a mother from her child. Just think for a moment about all the pain she went through day by day being unable to see her only child and not knowing if she would ever see him. To a mother that is the most painful thing in the world. Just imagine the suffering that woman went through from never seeing her only child, and tell me what son wouldn't hate the individual who not only separated him from his mother but put her through such unbearable torment," finished Sanbi.
The Straw Hats, Vivi, Shirahoshi and everyone continued to listen to Sanbi.
"The pain became so terrible that she eventually died of a broken heart. It was all just too much for her to bear, confined to Mariejois, prevented from seeing her friends and especially the loss of her only child, it all came crashing down on her resulting in her death. During the Mariejois Invasion we were ordered to retrieve her but we never found her meaning she's dead," said Sanbi.
"And you know what's ironic, no one really mourned her death. Had any of the other world nobles died, it would have been a grand spectacle. But with Cassandra, they never even told anyone, they just brushed off her death as nothing," said Sanbi solemnly.
It now made sense to the Straw Hats, Vivi and Shirahoshi why Luffy hates the world government so much. They took not only the life of his brother, but they subjected his mother to unbearable suffering and eventually that killed her. They pretty much took everything away from him. Now they understood his hatred. It was indeed as Sanbi said, his hatred for the world government was great and after hearing what they did to his mother, they couldn't blame him. To do something like that to any mother is absolutely atrocious in their eyes and both the mother and child deserve retribution. But still, for Luffy to have such hate, the same Luffy who has done everything he can to protect his crew and everyone he knew, it still frightened them nonetheless. Luffy can be very scary at times but now it was on an entirely differently level. With the amount of hate he now had, it made the Straw Hats very nervous to ever meet him again. To meet someone who was once so pure become so dark, there was just something fundamentally wrong with that. Also with the amount of power that Luffy now possessed since awakening kamishoku haki combined with the immense hate in his heart, truly an unstoppable force of destruction has been unleashed onto the world.
Nami, Robin and Shirahoshi all know the pain of loosing a mother. Each of them lost their mother's at a young age, Nami to Arlong, Robin to the world government and Shirahoshi to Hody. That kind of pain is something they would never want anyone to ever experience, least of all an individual like Luffy who encompasses all the positive things in life. Luffy saved them all when they needed it, and unknowingly captured all their hearts. To think the one who did so much for them suffers the pain of losing his mother, it was unbearable for them. If they ever met him again, they would do anything to comfort his grieving heart, to tell him that they know what it's like to lose a mother, to let him know that they are there for him and would do anything for him just like he did for them. The question is, with hate dominating his once pure heart, will he let them?
Vivi and Shirahoshi, remembered this year's Reverie. It was the most famous Reverie in history. It was the invasion of Mariejois by the Revolutionary Army and the Fall of the World Government. But to them, that was not what they remembered it for. They remembered because they reunited with a certain young man, one who was once a great prince helping all those around them, who helped them in a time of great sorrow and who became one of their closest friends and in their case love interest. But the reunion was not a happy magical one, no it was one of their most terrible memories. Luffy was no longer the same person he was before. He was something different, something darker, colder, full of hate. Now they know why he was like that, he was like that because of everything they did to his mother. The Tenryuubito, in the selfish acts, created a dark demonic destroyer who wants nothing more than to burn the world government to the ground. It made them both feel sick to think someone so kind hearted could become so destructive.
"That is why he is called the Half Blood Prince, because he has both the blood of the D and the Tenryuubito flowing through him. And that is why there is no one but him who could become the emperor of the world. He has the power of the D and the influence of the Tenryuubito. There is no one better than him," said Sanbi explaining what the Half Blood Prince and emperor of the world meant.
So that's what Doflamingo meant when he said that Luffy would be the emperor. He possesses the two most powerful bloodlines in the world. With the tremendous fighting powers of the bearers of D and the great influential and political power of the Tenryuubito, by birthright, he was the heir to the world. The Straw Hats began to wonder if Luffy's birth was part of Dragon's plan as well, a union of the bloodlines so that Luffy would control the world. The whole revolutionary campaign of bringing down the world government, eradicating the threat of pirates through slavery would be to have Luffy inherit the world by birthright and Dragon through Luffy would control it, by instilling his own ideals into Luffy would allow him to remake the world in his own image. It made the Straw Hats sick that Dragon would use his own son this way, manipulating his love for his mother to his own advantage. Truly Dragon had fallen so low.
"Now then Shirahoshi, come with me. You're mother wanted you to be with Luffy, so come with me and you'll be together with him. You'll fulfill the promise your mother made to Luffy's mother and you'll also make this world safe for fishmen. So come," said Sanbi.
"I – I," stuttered Shirahoshi before Vivi interrupted.
"She's not coming with you. This isn't fulfilling the promise her mom made to Luffy-san's. This is just you trying to use that promise to manipulate her into coming with you. Well guess what, she's stays. If she meets with Luffy-san it will be the right way, not because you or Dragon want to use her mother's past to do it," said Vivi passionately.
Shirahoshi looked at Vivi shocked before turning to Sanbi.
"Vivi-sama's right Sanbi-sama, if I meet Luffy-sama, then it will be the way me and mother wanted it to be, not the way you or Dragon-sama want it as," replied Shirahoshi.
"That's right, you tell her," said Usopp.
"Yeah she's not going anywhere," said Chopper.
"You have some nerve trying to manipulate a lady to come with you through her mother. I'll make sure to give you an ass kicking," said Sanji.
"If Luffy's mom wanted Shirahoshi to be safe then I wouldn't let you take her," said Nami.
"For the same reasons as Nami, I'll protect her," said Robin.
"The beautiful mermaid princess wishes to stay so she'll stay," said Brook.
"We'll still defeat you regardless of what you have to say or how strong you are," said Zoro.
"I'm super ready to kick your ass," said Franky.
The battle between the Straw Hats and Sanbi of the Knights of D continues.
Another chapter finally done. Review and comment and let's hear what you think.
Before I go into the notes I first want to mention something about One Piece chapter 731. Warning it does contain a major spoiler so read at your own risk.
One of my ideas actually showed up in Oda's One Piece. In One Piece chapter 731 Koala has been revealed to be alive and member of the revolutionary army. In fact she is also a fishman karate substitute teacher. This is similar to my story where Koala was a revolutionary commander and master of fishman karate. I'm willing to bet that a powerful fishman is also within the ranks of the Revolutionary Army similar to Sanbi. After all for Koala to be a fishman karate substitute teacher, someone most likely a fishman must have trained her to use fishman karate. And said fishman might be part of the revolutionary army. To tell you the truth I didn't expect one of my ideas to have actually showed up in One Piece.
Now to answer a few questions from the reviews.
Someone asked if Garp will show up. The answer is yes, Garp will have a role in this story.
Someone also asked that I include devil fruits that grant all the abilities of that category such as a paramecia-paramecia fruit. The problem with that is such a fruit would end up being so powerful that it could compete with Dragon's devil fruit. Dragon's devil fruit the weather weather fruit allows him to control thunder, lightning, wind, rain, even the sun. A paramecia-paramecia fruit would compete with that, in fact a paramecia-paramecia fruit would have to include Dragon's fruit.
Somone also asked that I include Goku and Madara in this fic. The answer is no. In this fic, Dragon is meant to be the absolute strongest, the god-like main antagonist of this fic. Madara is pretty much the god-like antagonist of Naruto and I can't have two god like characters in this fic. And as powerful as Madara is, Goku could destroy entire planets and galaxies with ease so he's out. And I prefer using OCs because then the audience can picture the OCs appearance as they want unless I specify certain attributes about them such as Sabo's flowing blonde hair contrasting Luffy's short black hair.
Now that is over onto the chapter notes.
Sanbi not knowing that Dragon raped Cassandra. Remember this chapter is a direct continuation of the previous one and Sanbi is narrating the flashback while Cassandra herself is experiencing it. So whatever happens in Cassandra's flashback, Sanbi knows it which is how he is telling the story to the Straw Hats. If something is not in the flashback, it means that it simply never happened. In order to do this, nothing is mentioned that Cassandra was raped, in fact the word rape is not used at all. In this flashback Cassandra never said anything about her rape so naturally Sanbi himself would not know that she was raped. Since Cassandra doesn't say she was raped, then Sanbi would not know and the story looks like Cassandra actually loved Dragon which we know is not true. In fact the flashback doesn't give any indication of whom the father is. Reading the flashback you would never know that Dragon was the father, the only reason we know that is because we knew that from long before. The whole story sounds as if Cassandra actually loved Dragon and had a son with him. And again since Sanbi is narrating the flashback, he himself thinks that Dragon and Cassandra loved each other and had a child. He doesn't know that the child was born from rape.
Cassandra's reason for not telling Otohime about her rape by Dragon. In order for the whole Cassandra's flashback-Sanbi now knowing thing to work, then naturally Cassandra must have a reason for not telling Otohime. First it is a hard thing to talk about, talking about your rapist is a hard thing and not something you would want to talk about. More importantly she feared that Dragon might target Otohime. For Otohime's part, she wouldn't ask about the father because she knows that Cassandra suffered a lot due to being separated from Luffy and mentioning the father would bring up more painful memories of her lost son. Otohime knows that Cassandra suffered from being separated from her child but she doesn't know that Cassandra suffered from being raped by Dragon.
Dragon being a commoner: Cassandra, Otohime and everyone referred to Dragon as a commoner. However Dragon himself is of an equally royal blood as the Tenryuubito, he is a descendant of D. He is simply referred to as commoner because he isn't of the Tenryuubito bloodline despite the D bloodline being equally if not more powerful.
No one knows that Cassandra is alive. No one, not even Sabo knows that Cassandra is alive. Remember that in chapter 20 "Elder Stars Fade and New World Order" none of the other Knights were nearby when Dragon was talking to the Gorosei about Cassandra. They were all too pre-occupied with the Invasion to bother. They all believe that Cassandra died of a broken heart which is a reasonable explanation of why she died, I mean she was separated from her child ever since he was born, that could kill any mother. The Knights do know that she is Luffy's mother but none of them know that she is alive, they all think she's dead. Also none of them know that she was raped by Dragon, they all think that her and Dragon were in love which to them would further explain why Dragon would start his revolution. They all think Dragon is a great person, not an idealist but not someone who would rape a woman.
The reason why the other Tenryuubito hate Cassandra has been revealed. It was because she had a child with a "commoner", though said commoner at the time was and still is the strongest being the in world, Monkey D Dragon himself. Though do hate her because of her love of "commoners" but they're tolerant of that at least after all its her business. But by having a child with a commoner, it no longer became just her business, it was theirs. By having a child with a non Tenryuubito, she essentially "corrupted" their "pure bloodlines." We know how much they value the "blood of the creators" so to have a child with someone else would be blasphemy. For that reason they truly hate Cassandra.
Luffy has a lot of history with the Tenryuubito. First they tried to kill him as a baby, they were responsible for the Burning of Grey Terminal, tried to kill Sabo though he survived. They separated him from his mother and put her through extreme suffering and as far as he knows and they murdered her by separating her from Luffy (though she is alive and held prisoner by Dragon). Even as a child the Tenryuubito has made him suffer. They also harmed many of his friends, such as trying to buy and enslave Keimi, shooting Hachi and enslaving Hancock. In addition they harmed him indirectly by harming some of his friends. For example they made things very difficult for Otohime and fishman thus indirectly hurting Shirahoshi and Sanbi (Sanbi is Luffy's comrade as a fellow Knight). Yep, Luffy has major issues with the world government.
Tenryuubito and incest. In Oda's One Piece there is no evidence that the Tenryuubito practice incest. For all we know, some of the other Tenryuubito are actually from commoners. I only assume that Tenryuubito practice incest due to the fact that they all look ugly and disfigured and all have the same mindset. And in most fictional stories, people who believe in blood supremacy engage in incest to keep their blood "pure" and since the Tenryuubito certainly do believe in that, it would be logical to assume that they practice incest. However Oda has shown no evidence that they actually do practice incest and for most of One Piece Final Holy War it wouldn't matter since Cassandra and her son Luffy are the only living Tenryuubito.
The reason why Luffy truly hates the world government has finally been revealed. I said many times that Luffy leaving the crew might have not been for a significant reason but he's reason for joining Dragon was. It was because of all the suffering they put his mother through. I know Luffy is not the type to care about a complete stranger's suffering but even he can't accept separating a mother from her child. Luffy knows the pain of being separated from family, Kuma separating him from his nakama is one incident and permanently loosing Ace to Akainu is another. And the fact that he was separated from his mother made it deeply personal. We already know that Luffy never cared about his father but I'm sure he must have wanted to know his mother. The reason that this was never shown in Oda's One Piece is to maintain Luffy's cheerful character and add more mystery to Luffy's mother. Besides I can't imagine Luffy not caring about his own mother, father maybe but not his mother. Because of the world government he never got to know his mother. The world government put her through excruciating pain, the worse pain for a mother, separating her from her child. In addition they confined her to Mariejois and prevented her from finding Luffy or seeing any of her friends. Luffy would never accept something like that given how much he values family but they did that to his mother of all people even after they separated her from her son. Luffy has been known to go to extremes if his nakama was hurt and that is exactly what they did to his mother emotionally. Now as far as Luffy knows his mother is dead having died due to all the pain and torment(though she is actually still alive) and he'll never get to see her. After all that, how could he not want to avenge his mother.
Otohime staying to look after Cassandra. Otohime chose to stay at Mariejois for a week before leaving to go back to Fishman Island. This was done mainly to get Cassandr,a her little sister out of depression. This is similar yet reverse to what Vivi did for Shirahoshi. Vivi chose to stay on Fishman Island to look after Shirahoshi much like Otohime did for Cassandra. And in both cases it was over Luffy, for Cassandra it was because Luffy was her son and for Shirahoshi it was because Luffy was her love interest. Of course there are differences like Cassandra being the human and Otohime the mermaid while Shirahoshi was the mermaid and Vivi the human.
The promise between Cassandra and Otohime. Cassandra and Otohime made a pinkie promise that one day when they get humans and fishman accept each other, their children would become friends. And that promise did come true because thanks to the Straw Hats actions back at Fishman Island, fishmen truly began to accept humans again. And Cassandra's son and Otohime's daughter do become great friends. Despite Otohime being dead and Cassandra confined, Luffy and Shirahoshi do become great friends. So the promise between the two actually did come true. It was like destiny was guiding Luffy and Shirahoshi together. Of course Shirahoshi will have to share Luffy with the other women.
Cassandra having the most prominent role in Fishman Island. Cassandra having been the one who gave Otohime the letter of support had a major role in Fishman Island. But Cassandra was also responsible for Tiger escaping. Tiger must have been quite strong but he was overworked a lot by the Tenryuubito and hence significantly weakened. Mariejois being the center of the world government should be impenetrable so how was Tiger able to do it especially since he was weakened as a slave? The answer is Cassandra. Tiger was not Cassandra's slave but his treatment was so brutal that she had to interfere. Since Tiger was not her slave she couldn't help him the way she normally would so she helped him escape from Mariejois. Tiger obviously couldn't leave the other slaves behind and thus returned to free them. Cassandra was thus a major catalyst to not only Otohime but Tiger himself. Of course unlike Otohime, Cassandra never had enough time to really bond with Tiger.
Tiger's actions being motivated by Cassandra. It was because of Cassandra that Tiger did many of the things that he did. He returned to Mariejois to free the slaves not only to save them but to repay Cassandra. After all Cassandra gave him his freedom so he shouldn't waste it and instead help give others their freedom. Also because of his years of enslavement he should have hated humans and become a monster like Arlong and Hody. But he didn't because he believed that there were some good humans out there. Cassandra was one of these good humans who prevented Tiger from truly despising humans. Also his taking Koala in was because of Cassandra. Tiger knew that Cassandra had a child and by bringing Koala back to her parents, it was further repaying Cassandra. Koala after all was only a little older than Luffy and bringing her back to her parents would be like bringing Luffy himself back to Cassandra.
Well that's everything. Everything else I believe is explained properly in the fic so I wouldn't bother mention them. Please review the chapter for I always love seeing reviews.
