The Story of JoyBoy
The next chapter of One Piece: Final Holy War is out. The title is self explanatory so fans of JoyBoy and the Fishman Island arc will absolutely love this chapter. I put a lot of effort into it. It required a lot of time, thinking and research and is easily one of the longest chapters around. I would thus highly appreciate many reviews for this particular chapter.
Also this chapter has a lot of notes at the end given the scope of this chapter. A lot of things need clarification and the notes explain that along with why I chose to do certain things, references to the Fishman Island arc etc. It is highly recommended that you read the notes at the end for if you do, you'll appreciate and enjoy this chapter a lot more.
The entire battlefield was silent upon hearing that. They knew that Surume was legendary as it was a Kraken said to be a mythical beast, but Sanbi made it sound as if Surume was something greater than a Kraken.
"Wait a minute, what is this Uranus?" asked Nami.
"Uranus, one of the three ancient weapons given the name of the Gods, Pluton, Poseidon and Uranus. Pluton, a ship capable of large scale destruction, Poseidon, a mermaid capable of controlling Sea Kings and Uranus, a colossal sea king that has no equal. Amongst the three ancient weapons, Uranus is said to be the strongest of them all," explained Robin.
"Wait so since Uranus is a sea king, then that means that it could have children," said Nami.
"That's right, and from what Sanbi just said, Surume is actually a descendant of that powerful sea king," said Robin looking at Surume who himself had a look of surprise.
"That would mean that Uranus itself was also a Kraken," said Sanji picking up on what's going on also looking at Surume.
All the Straw Hats looked at the surprised kraken. It was hard to believe that Luffy's pet was the descendant of the most powerful sea king in history. Surume was rather playful, happily carrying the Sunny Go to Fishman Island while smiling and having fun with them. It was hard to believe that such a friendly creature was distantly related to a monster so strong, that it caused nothing but death and destruction in its wake. But then again, Luffy who was such a pure soul was the son of a dark fallen god.
"But wait a minute, Uranus is an ancient weapon so it should be able to destroy islands with ease. I don't think Surume is capable of that, no offense Surume," said Usopp the last part to Surume.
Surume was not offended as he himself knew his own power and knew that while he could easily crush ships, an entire island would be too much for him. Furthermore while he may not care about relatives that he never knew and are long dead, he was interested in hearing more about his ancestor Uranus though he felt that he was going to dread it. Hearing that your ancestor is a weapon of pure destruction is not something anyone would really be proud off.
"That was because Uranus was previously a regular Kraken before it was changed into the ancient weapon by none other than Darcia, better known as Joy Boy by the people of Fishman Island," said Sanbi.
The name Joy Boy instantly got the attention of Robin and the Neptune Family for different reasons. Robin has an interest in the Poneglyphs and Joy Boy was an important part of the poneglyph on Fishman Island while the Neptune family swore to him to look after the arc Noah until the promised day when it would fulfill its mission. However despite all this, neither the Neptune family nor anyone of Fishman Island knew anything about him other than his role in the "promised day," even what was on the poneglyph was a mystery to them since no one on Fishman Island could read it. And Robin herself knew nothing about Joy Boy except his apology to Poseidon for breaking his promise. Now they knew the true name of Joy Boy, Darcia.
"Darcia, wasn't he the ancestor of the D and the first one to awaken haki," said Robin remembering Sanbi's earlier explanation about kamishoku, the haki of the D.
"Yes the same one, you see a long time ago, Darcia came to Fishman Island, however on the way there, his ship was attacked by a Kraken. Darcia was able to defeat the Kraken, however despite this Darcia became friends with the Kraken, even going as far as to name it. And he named this Kraken, Uranus," said Sanbi.
All the Straw Hats, remembered that Uranus was Surume's ancestor.
"You know what this means, that same Kraken that Darcia defeated and befriended was the ancestor of Surume and the future most powerful ancient weapon Uranus," explained Sanbi.
The Straw Hats and everyone else listening remained silent all very interested in the story.
"Darcia came to Fishman Island and eventually met a beautiful mermaid. This mermaid wasn't just any mermaid, this mermaid was the mermaid princess at the time, Poseidon," said Sanbi.
The Straw Hats, and everyone present knew what this meant.
"Poseidon, the same one as the ancient weapon and princess Shirahoshi's ancestor," said Sanbi.
This information merely confirmed that Shirahoshi truly was the current reincarnation of the ancient weapon Poseidon. However the Straw Hats knew that there was more to it than that and Sanbi's story would reveal all that.
"Princess Poseidon was a very sheltered young mermaid. You see because of her unique ability to communicate with sea kings, Poseidon was treated as an outcast in Fishman Island. Everyone, even her own family feared her because of this. They believed that anything done to her could trigger her power and cause the sea kings to lay waste to Fishman Island," said Sanbi revealing more about Shirahoshi's ancestor.
"People did not speak to her and actively tried to avoid her because they felt that if they accidently said something wrong to her, she would accidently unleash the sea kings. Given that she was an emotionally fragile individual due to her isolation, it was a genuine concern though it was their own faults for outcasting her in the first place," continued Sanbi.
This made certain individuals like Nami, Robin and Shirahoshi reflect on their own lives. They all knew what it was like to live as an outcast. Nami was treated as an outcast by the people of Cocoyashi Village because of her decision to join Arlong, even though they were merely pretending to ignore her and in reality cared for her because she went through so much to try and free them. Robin was hated by the entire world over something that wasn't even true. Everyone believed her to be a demon who wanted to resurrect the ancient weapons and destroy the world which wasn't true in the slightest, all she wanted was to know the true history. And Shirahoshi, though not an outcast, was locked away in the Shell Tower for her own protection, it was almost as if she was living as an outcast.
"Her powers were feared so much that she was actually locked away to prevent her from using her powers," said Sanbi.
The Straw Hats, the Neptune family, and everyone else listening knew this story sounded familiar. For Shirahoshi, it was the same, locked away for something that was not her fault.
"Locked away, alone and isolated, having only minimum contact with the outside world, all for the sake of preventing her from accidently using her powers, that was Poseidon's life," said Sanbi describing the isolation of the future ancient weapon.
Sanbi then paused for a little bit to allow the Straw Hats and everyone else particularly Shirahoshi to take all this in. For Shirahoshi, she was reminded of her life ever since she was a child, locked away and having minimum contact with the outside world. As it turned out, her ancestor was in a similar situation to her own.
"But then light finally came to her life in the form of Darcia. Darcia by accident met the young mermaid princess and freed her from her prison. He convinced her that her powers were a gift, not a curse and that she was special, that she was a beautiful mermaid princess meant to be free and to see the world, not to be locked up like a monster. He made her believe for the first time that she was meant to be happy and that she deserved to be loved. He gave her hope and became her first real and best friend," explained Sanbi how Darcia freed her.
While all the Straw Hats and the people of Fishman Island continued to listen to the story with great interest, Robin and Shirahoshi reflected on their own lives and how similar they both were to Poseidon's. Robin was hated by the world for most of her life until Luffy came along and made her believe that she was meant to be happy and gave her a home and family. For Shirahoshi it was even more intimate for Poseidon's life more and more seemed to be just like hers, isolated for something out of her control and meeting someone who got her to believe that she was worth something. The connection between herself and Poseidon was amplified by the fact that Poseidon was her ancestor and Darcia's was Luffy's. It was like history was repeating itself.
"Unfortunately Fishman Island was thoroughly against her freedom. The citizens thoroughly believed that she would unleash the sea kings and have them lay waste to Fishman Island and wanted to lock her back up, even if they had to use force. Fortunately, Darcia was far too strong for them and was able to force them back. As a result, they had no choice but to go along with his decision to free her," explained Sanbi the events following Poseidon's release.
It did make sense to the Straw Hats and everyone listening that no one could have stopped Darcia. From what they heard so far about the powerful ancestor of the D, he was the strongest of his time and the first user of haki. The people of Fishman Island wouldn't have had a chance against him. If Darcia wanted Poseidon free, there was nothing they could have done about it.
"For the past week it was a tense period, one of the tensest in Fishman Island history. Everyone believed that any second now, the sea kings would destroy Fishman Island. Paranoia was present all the time as it was believed that the destruction of Fishman Island could happen anytime. It was a very frightening period for everyone," explained Sanbi.
The Straw Hats and everyone else listening were silent as they wanted to hear more.
"The fear of Fishman Island's destruction because of Poseidon was so great that someone actually wanted to kill her for it. This fishman wanted to save Fishman Island from destruction by killing Poseidon but Darcia was very protective of her and wouldn't let any harm come to her. This fishman knew that he wouldn't be able to assassinate Poseidon as long as Darcia was around and even if he rallied everyone on Fishman Island to kill her, it still wouldn't be enough to get past Darcia. He was just too strong for that. If no one on Fishman Island could defeat him, then he needed to get something that could," said Sanbi.
"That something was the most powerful force at the time, the alliance of the twenty most powerful kingdoms at the time, the Ancient Alliance," continued Sanbi.
"The Ancient Alliance would certainly have had the military strength needed to kill Darcia and Poseidon. Despite Darcia's incredible strength and Poseidon's ability, even it wouldn't have been enough against the power of the Ancient Alliance. The fishman revealed to the Alliance Poseidon's power and her protection under Darcia," revealed Sanbi.
The Straw Hats and everyone else present knew what was coming next. If the Ancient Alliance knew about her powers, there was only two possible outcomes. Either they would capture her for her power or they would kill her.
"I could tell from your expression that you probably have an idea as to what would happen next. And your right, the Alliance acted quickly and sent several incredibly powerful fighters to distract Darcia while they kidnapped Poseidon. The Ancient Alliance may have wanted her power but even they knew about Darcia's might and that they couldn't just take her while she was under Darcia's protection. The distraction was a success and Poseidon was abducted successfully," revealed Sanbi.
"On a side note I'm not sure if that was what the fishman that betrayed Poseidon wanted. He merely wanted Darcia dead because he wanted to kill Poseidon. I'm not sure if he wanted Poseidon captured instead. But I suspect that he was okay with this as well since if Poseidon was captured and taken away, then she wouldn't be able to make the sea kings destroy Fishman Island in the first place. To him regardless of weather she was alive or dead, once she wasn't around, then that meant that Fishman Island was safe," said Sanbi breaking away from the story slightly to talk about the fishman that betrayed Poseidon.
The Straw Hats did not care about the treasonous fishman in the slightest. To them, he was nothing but a traitor who sold out a beautiful mermaid because of his irrational fears. That fishman was trash to no end. The only Straw Hat that cared was Sanji though not for good reasons. To him, to betray a lady was a heinous crime that would never be forgiven. So to hear that such a thing was done to a mermaid made him red with anger. That traitor fishman is definitely long dead and he hoped that he was sent to hell for betraying the mermaid princess at the time.
"Poseidon was now in the hands of the Ancient Alliance. They now had the power to control Sea Kings at their fingertips. But the Alliance underestimated Poseidon's bond with the mighty warrior. Darcia cared deeply about Poseidon and wouldn't have let anything happen to her. So he stormed the fortress where she was being held and broke her out. Despite her being heavily guarded by the forces of the Ancient Alliance, they still couldn't stop Darcia from rescuing her," explained Sanbi.
"Poseidon had the ability to control sea kings, an ability that would allow her to easily destroy entire islands. For the alliance to have such a power in their hands was unbelievable. They made sure that she was under the heaviest guard possible such that the fortress where she was being held was seemingly impenetrable. With an absolutely massive army guarding her combined with several incredibly powerful warriors, freeing her should have been impossible. Yet Darcia did it. Despite how overwhelmingly outnumbered he was, he still defeated all the forces stationed there and rescued the mermaid princess. It was an incredible victory," continued Sanbi.
For many of the Straw Hats, especially Robin and Vivi, they were reminded about their own adventures with a certain rubber man. Despite having to take on an entire organization led by a Shichbukai to save Alabasta, the Straw Hats still pushed on without hesitation and saved Alabasta. Despite Ennies Lobby being seemingly impenetrable and being protected by CP9, the Straw Hats still emerged victorious and rescued Robin. And Luffy, despite Impel Down being the most notorious prison in the world and Marineford where the best of the world would clash, Luffy still went on to save his brother. Many of Luffy's actions were very reminiscent of Darcia's and it shouldn't be that surprising as Darcia was Luffy's ancestor.
"This event truly cemented the friendship between Darcia and Poseidon. For Darcia to have went so far for her, it was something that she never thought was possible. She was hated and feared her entire life so someone simply wanting to be her friend meant a lot to her much less literally challenging the major superpower of the time solely for her. Because of that Poseidon didn't just see Darcia as her first friend but her best friend and the greatest being she ever met, someone whom should would forever be grateful of and someone whom would always be there for her no matter what," said Sanbi.
Robin knew that feeling well, it was the same thing with Luffy. Despite how insane it was to challenge the world government for her, Luffy did not hesitate. He went to war with the world just for her and she was eternally grateful for that. It was one of the main reasons she fell in love with him despite the age gap.
"This event also led to Poseidon being a much stronger and emotionally stable individual. Her emotional distress was partially due to everyone outcasting her and Darcia not only chose to be her friend but literally fought an overwhelming battle just for her. He was there for her when no one else was and proved that she was a precious person to him in the greatest way possible. He was the first true and greatest friend to her," explained Sanbi.
"She was also moved by his strength, not his physical strength but his will. He did not hesitate to challenge the most powerful organization in the world just for her. He inspired her and made her believe that she could truly be a much stronger person. After all the battle he fought to rescue her was an impossible one yet he did it anyway. So if it was possible for him to do such a feat, then it should be possible for her to be a much stronger individual and finally have friends," explained Sanbi how much Darcia's actions affected her.
Shirahoshi as she heard this thought back to Luffy. How Luffy fought for her kingdom and even risked dying of blood loss to save Fishman Island from the falling ship Noah. It was similar to how Darcia risked his life to save Posiedon. Furthermore just as how Darcia's actions inspired Posiedon to come out of her shell and become stronger, so too did Luffy inspire her to no longer be a crybaby and become stronger. It was like destiny was truly repeating itself with Darcia's descendant helping Poseidon's descendant herself.
"However despite the heavy blow, the Ancient Alliance was not done yet. They would not just give up the change to gain a great power like that over one loss regardless of how heavy it was. So they sent a massive armada of the largest ships, the largest and most powerful naval fleet ever assembled with an equally massive number of soldiers to recapture Poseidon so that they could use her ability for their own purposes," said Sanbi continuing the story.
"The large gathering of the fleets and the soldiers was done for two purposes. The massive armies of soldiers were meant specifically for Darcia as due to his massive power, nothing short of their largest armies would be able to take him down. Even then it might not have been enough as Darcia's might was so vast that even an army such as that might not have been enough. At the very least they could have distracted or even exhausted the mighty warrior enough to kidnap Poseidon," explained Sanbi about why so many soldiers was needed.
"And the massive fleet was necessary in order to combat the sea kings should Poseidon call upon their aid. On the sea, the ships may be effective against the sea kings but underwater their power is greatly reduced. In order to compensate for this, nothing less than the largest armada at the time consisting of the largest and strongest ships was acceptable. Against the largest and mightiest fleet at the time, even the sea kings wouldn't be able to stop them," explained Sanbi why the fleet needed to be so strong.
"Furthermore there were a number of extremely powerful fighters on each ship. These fighters are meant to not only handle Darcia but also to handle the sea kings. Even though their fighting abilities were severely reduced while underwater, they could still handle the sea kings given both their strength and their numbers," explained Sanbi how their were strong fighters that were part of each ship.
The Straw Hats and everyone else listening were on the edge of their seats wanting to know what was going to happen next. The trump card which was Poseidon's power wouldn't have been enough against such a massive fleet so they wondered how they were going to overcome this.
"Neither Darcia, nor Poseidon or anyone on Fishman Island could have predicted this would have happened. He couldn't have predicted that they would still try and take her after how much damage he inflicted upon them during his rescue of the mermaid princess. And it was even a bigger surprise that they were willing to send a fleet of ships given Poseidon could easily have the sea kings sink them all. But it appeared even he underestimated how badly the Ancient Alliance wanted her power given how much they invested into the armada," explained Sanbi.
"Thus they were caught completely off guard and had no time to prepare. Daria wasn't able to get aid in time and Poseidon didn't have enough time to rally enough sea kings to combat the armada. Essential the two of them were on their own," continued Sanbi.
"The element of surprise was another major factor in this invasion. No one could have predicted that the Ancient Alliance or anyone for that matter would have attempted something like this. To actually send a fleet underwater which meant that not only would their effectiveness be reduced but also they would be facing the sea kings. It was outrageous that such a thing would be attempted but that was how much the Ancient Alliance desired Poseidon's power. Neither Darcia nor Poseidon could have ever anticipated such a thing happening," explained Sanbi.
"Also neither of them had any knowledge of the invading fleet. Had they did, Poseidon would have assembled more sea kings to combat the threat. However because it was all a surprise she simply didn't have enough time to call all the sea kings, only the ones nearby which meant that she could only get a few sea kings to aid her," continued Sanbi.
The Straw Hats knew full well how dangerous the element of surprise was. They themselves have done things that no one would have ever done before and because of this their enemies simply couldn't react accordingly. No one really expected them to invade Ennies Lobby so they had the element of surprise on their side. Also because they were able to surprise their enemies by using tactics they would never consider, they were also extremely lucky as their enemies could not react in time. So it seemed the Ancient Alliance surprising use of a naval invasion paid off in that it caught Poseidon off guard so much that she simply didn't have enough time to gather enough sea kings.
"It was a bleak situation. Fishman Island was hopelessly outnumbered against the fleet, even Darcia's great power and Poseidon's ability wouldn't have been enough," said Sanbi.
"Poseidon used her powers to call forth the nearby sea kings to attack and even though they did help slow down the fleet, and destroyed several of the ships, they couldn't stop the entire force. The ships were just too large, durable and in too massive numbers to stop. Furthermore many of the sea kings were killed by the strongest fighters onboard each ship," said Sanbi.
It did not come that much of a surprise to the Straw Hats. Zoro and Sanji proved that it was possible to handle large creatures even while underwater and from what the Straw Hats understood, the armada had many fighters capable of fighting even while underwater. Also there wasn't too many sea kings available to help given that Poseidon didn't have enough time to summon many of them.
"Fishman Island was aided by Uranus and his Kraken family. Uranus was already a friend of Darcia's and by extension Poseidon's so it wanted to help as well. Unfortunately even it was not enough and Uranus' whole family was killed trying to protect the young mermaid princess," said Sanbi somberly.
All the Straw Hats, the Neptune family and the Sun Pirates flinched at hearing that knowing what it was like to watch your family die. Nami, Robin and Shirahoshi watched their mothers die before their very eyes, the Sun Pirates watched their captain die of blood loss and Brook had to watch his former crew get killed while not being able to do anything about it. Uranus pain was something they were all intimately familiar with and felt for the Kraken even though they didn't know him personally.
"This is what truly gave birth to the Ancient Weapon Uranus. Uranus watching his entire family die before his very eyes wanted nothing but revenge. He had nothing else in this world. However he knew that he wouldn't be able to destroy the fleet that killed his brethren. It was simply too big for him and he would die for sure and in vain, without avenging his family. So he came to Darcia and asked him for power, power to avenge his family, he asked for Darcia to turn him into a living weapon of unimaginable power so that he may destroy the fleet and avenge his fallen family," said Sanbi now beginning to reveal just how Uranus became the unstoppable superweapon.
All the Straw Hats felt their hearts sink at hearing that. To willingly cast aside your very being to become nothing but a weapon was something they just could not ever imagine. After all you're no longer yourself, but something meant solely for destruction, no thoughts, no feelings, no dreams. And yet they knew someone who did it before, Bartholomew Kuma. Kuma became a living weapon in order to stop Dragon. The difference between Kuma and Uranus was that Kuma became a weapon to stop Dragon, Uranus became a weapon to avenge his family.
"At first Darcia did not want to do it but he realized that he had no choice. The invading fleet was nearby and would successfully invade Fishman Island to recapture Poseidon probably killing thousands in the process. Their superior numbers meant that he would not be able to protect Poseidon and he was sure that Poseidon would not leave while her people were being killed. In fact he was sure that she would actually sacrifice herself to the Alliance to keep them safe. Despite their past treatment of her, she still loved them with all her heart. She just couldn't hold a grudge against them. That was just that kind of mermaid she was. In short, if he didn't turn Uranus into a weapon, Poseidon and possibly all of Fishman Island would have been destroyed," said Sanbi.
"And then there was Uranus itself. Uranus lost all its family so it had nothing left to live for. At the very least if it was to die, it would die taking the fleet that killed its family down with it. It would at least be able to avenge its family," continued Sanbi's explanation on how Uranus became the ancient weapon.
"Darcia realized that his options were very limited. It was either not turn Uranus into a weapon and have the Ancient Alliance abduct Poseidon again, kill everyone on Fishman Island, use her as a weapon or it was agree to make Uranus into a weapon, save the people of Fishman Island and avenge Uranus family. It was obvious what the choice was as difficult as it was," said Sanbi.
The Straw Hats felt themselves cringe at the hard decision that Luffy's ancestor had to make. To sacrifice a friend in order to save everyone. It was a choice they would never want to make no matter. Despite all the Sanji said about gladly sacrificing his male crewmates to save his female ones he couldn't actually see himself going through with it. Likewise despite Nami gladly bailing on her crewmates during battles she didn't even want to consider sacrificing them for anything, not for treasure and not for her. Abandoning a comrade was something they could never do, even unwillingly. And it seemed that Luffy had to do that to escape Impel Down, sacrifice Bon Clay. And here they find out that Luffy's ancestor also had to sacrifice a friend for the objective. It seemed that ever since Luffy left the crew, he was cursed with a cycle of suffering.
"So with a heavy heart, Darcia made his choice. He mixed his own blood with the blood of the corpses of Uranus slaughtered family. He then had Uranus drink and bathe in the blood, literally cannibalize on the dead bodies of his dead family as well as transferred a large amount of his own divine haki into the Kraken. The combination of drinking and bathing in Darcia's blood as well as receiving his powerful haki caused Uranus to change from a mere Kraken into a monstrosity of enormous power. Darcia's blood and haki was not normal so drinking the divine blood of the strongest being in the world as well as receiving his powerful haki caused Uranus to mutate into something else entirely, something of unimaginable destructive power. Uranus was no longer just a Kraken, it was a living superweapon, it was the ancient weapon Uranus," said Sanbi explaining how Darcia's former Kraken friend became the most powerful ancient weapon of all.
Everyone present was horrified at hearing that. Drinking and bathing in the blood of your own family, cannibalizing on them, that was the absolute foulest and cruelest thing in the world. Even if it was to save Poseidon, how could Darcia force Uranus his own friend to commit such a heinous act? That was basically tampering with nature itself. Surume paled at hearing what his ancestor did. He himself subjected himself to become Hody's slave when the radical fishman captured his family. He could never imagine doing such a foul act with them and yet Uranus had to do it. Despite it being to avenge his family, Surume could not believe that he was related to such a thing.
"The act of having Uranus drink and bathe in the blood of his fallen family and eat their corpses was in order to have Uranus loose his mind and became a monster, a weapon. Doing such a thing to your own family will turn anyone into a bloodthirsty psychopath and in Uranus case, became an untamable destructive force of nature, a true monster. Uranus had to do it, because if he didn't, despite the massive increase in power, he would still essentially be the same Kraken. But by committing this most heinous act, he lost his mind and became nothing but a weapon," explained Sanbi the purpose of the terrible act.
The Straw Hats and everyone flinched at the reasoning. To them, even if it was for the sake of a friend would they ever want to engage in such an act. Even worse to actually force one of their friends to do such thing, they will never accept it. To do that, you basically through away everything that you are and even cast aside your humanity for power.
"Uranus now a monstrous creature of enormous power engaged the fleet. It completely decimated the armada. No ship remained and no one survived, it was destruction in its greatest form. Nothing, not even a Buster Call could have compared to that," said Sanbi.
To all the Straw Hats except Brook who actually witnessed the pure destruction of the Buster Call, they couldn't even imagine anything worse. And to hear what the Krakan Uranus, no what the colossal sea king, the now ancient weapon Uranus did to the armada, it must have truly been terrible such that it surpassed even the likes of the Buster Call. A vengeful demon having lost its family and powered up by the strongest being in the world engaging the largest fleet at the time. It completely crushed the enemy, something that even the other sea kings was unable to do. Its power must have truly been overwhelming to do something that even Poseidon's power could not do.
"However despite having destroyed the fleet that killed its family, Uranus wasn't done yet. Having lost its mind by the cannibalizing on its family, it no longer had thought or reason, simply a need to destroy everything. And that's what it wanted to do, it turned on Darcia and Poseidon," said Sanbi continuing the story.
All the Straw Hats and everyone present wondered how Darcia and Poseidon would handle this new threat. They couldn't even handle the fleet and this monster utterly destroyed that fleet. So just how could they handle something like that?
"The first thing that Uranus did was kill all the sea kings nearby. The ocean turned red with the blood of the sea kings. The few that were able to survive fled in terror at the colossal sea monster," said Sanbi.
To everyone listening, to hear that something could scare off the mighty sea kings, it meant that Uranus was a monster of unprecedented power such that even the sea kings, the rulers of the sea fear it. It was something they hoped they would never encounter.
"Darcia in trying to protect Poseidon from the massive fleet created something far worse. Unlike the fleet which had a purpose and could be controlled and reasoned with, Uranus had none of that. Its only purpose was destruction. And having lost its mind it could not be controlled. Darcia may have saved Poseidon, but he unleashed and even greater threat," said Sanbi.
The Straw Hats and everyone else listening were on the edge of their seats wondering just how would Luffy and Shirahoshi's ancestors handle this new threat.
"Darcia having felt responsible for Uranus's fate wanted to go out there and confront it. Poseidon also wanted to go and help as well. Darcia was originally reluctant to have Poseidon face this monster but she argued that Uranus became this abomination because Darcia was trying to save her. Had it not been for her, the fleet would have never came and Uranus family would never had died and the Kraken himself would never became this superweapon," said Sanbi.
"Seeing her firm resolve to help, Darcia chose to accept and together the two confronted the colossal sea monster," continued Sanbi.
The Straw Hats couldn't imagine what it was like to actually go out there and face the creature. What kind of courage did it take to confront something like that?
"Uranus at first attempted to kill them both but thanks to Poseidon being a mermaid, she was able to avoid being hit," said Sanbi.
"Darcia was able to remind Uranus of their friendship. At that moment, a flicker of Uranus's humanity for lack of a better term returned. It recognized the monster that it had become. Immediately Uranus swam away to a far away location. Despite it not actually outright telling Darcia where it was going, Darcia knew right away," said Sanbi.
"It was going to the end of the world," revealed Sanbi.
"The end of the world, what's that?" asked Franky.
"It it as I said, the end of the world, the furthest edges of the planet. That far away, Uranus would not be able to hurt anyone," said Sanbi.
The Straw Hats and everyone thought that it was courageous of Uranus to do that. It knew that it would not stopping killing and only if it was far away would anyone be safe from it.
"At the very edge of the world in a certain island, Uranus buried itself at the base of the island. Then it began breaking apart the base of the island burying itself and forming a prison around itself. Darcia and Poseidon also came there and Poseidon called upon the aid of the sea kings once again to help bury the colossal beast. Soon enough, it was completely surrounded and imprisoned in the rubble," said Sanbi.
"Locked away in a prison of its own making, in the very edges of the earth, Uranus went into a deep sleep content in knowing that it would never escape and would never hurt anyone ever again. This is the story of Uranus, the ancient weapon" said Sanbi finishing the tale of Uranus.
The Straw Hats once again felt respect for Uranus even if it wasn't human. It imprisoned itself in the very edges of the world to protect everyone from itself. It essentially erased itself from the world and isolated itself to make sure it never hurt anyone. Such a noble creature was indeed the ancestor of their Kraken friend Surume. Surume himself looked like it wanted to cry knowing what his ancestor did to himself to avenge his family and how great lengths it went to redeem itself.
"It was a hard choice for Darcia but he recognized the danger that Uranus posed and that this is what Uranus wanted. It felt that it needed to be locked away to protect the outside world and that it deserved to be in isolation for being the monster that it was," said Sanbi solemnly.
Neither the Straw Hats or anyone for that matter chose to reply as they were still thinking about the sacrifice Uranus made.
"Uranus is probably still alive though asleep. The Kraken species has a very long life span and in human years Uranus would more or less be a young adult so it still had a long life ahead of it. Also Darcia's blood and haki helped further increase its life span. So it's definitely alive, asleep but alive," said Sanbi.
The Straw Hats had mixed feelings about this. On one hand they were happy the brave Kraken was still alive but on the other, they were afraid to think what would happen should the creature reawaken. Surume in particular wanted to meet his ancestor because from what he just heard, his ancestor was a great man, or Kraken in his case.
"However Uranus did not realize it, but one member of his family still lived, a baby kraken and its youngest son. This young kraken left the waters near Fishman Island to other areas. It met other Kraken and from there continued Uranus legacy. And from there Surume emerged," said Sanbi now looking at Surume.
None of the Straw Hats really said anything but they were glad for that. To have your bloodline completely wiped out meant complete and utter extinction and that was a terrible thing. So they were glad that Uranus still left something behind. And from that something was Surume who was Luffy's and by extension their friend.
"That battle had a tremendous impact on the future of Fishman Island. Firstly this marked the very first time that fishman actually began to trust humans. You see even as far back as then, humans looked down on fishmen. But Darcia was the very first human to actively want to become friends with them. He fought a massive uphill battle to rescue Poseidon from the Ancient Alliance. And rather than abandon Poseidon and Fishman Island to the invading fleet, he chose to stay and fight for them even turning one of his friends into a living weapon. It was unthinkable at the time for a human to even want to become friends with fishmen much less go that far for them," started Sanbi on how the battle affected Fishman Island's future.
"Darcia's actions gave the citizens of Fishman Island hope that they could finally join hands with humans. His actions brought great joy to the people there hence why the called him Joy Boy," continued Sanbi.
"So that was how he became known as Joy Boy," thought Robin.
"In addition, Poseidon herself was no longer looked upon as a threat but as a heroine. She had every reason to leave Fishman Island to the fate of the invading fleet given how they treated her for her whole life yet she didn't, she chose to stay for them. Her actions deeply moved the people and she finally earned their respect and their loyalty," said Sanbi.
"Also there was no longer any fear that she might accidently unleash the sea kings on Fishman Island. The battle against the armada of the Ancient Alliance showed that she was fully capable of controlling the sea kings so they had no reason to fear her anymore. Now instead of being treated as a pariah, she was treated as what she truly was, a mermaid princess," explained Sanbi on how the battle helped Poseidon herself.
The Straw Hats didn't reply but it was clear that all of them, the Neptune family, the Sun Pirates and everyone else listening wanted to hear more.
"To symbolize the newfound trust between fishman and Darcia and by extension humans in general, the populace of Fishman Island constructed a gigantic arc," said Sanbi.
"Noah," said Neptune immediately knowing what the arc was.
"Yes, Noah was constructed as a symbol of faith between the two races thanks to the friendship of Darcia and Poseidon. The entire population of Fishman Island would gather inside Noah and Poseidon would use the sea kings to raise the giant arc to the surface where fishmen would finally try to live alongside humans," said Sanbi.
Robin was now beginning to understandd what was going on and why Darcia had to apologize to Poseidon.
"However at the time a massive world war was going on and Darcia feared that the people of Fishmen Island would be caught up in it. So he made a promise to Poseidon. After the war was over, he would return to her and then she would have the sea kings raise Noah and take all the fishman to the surface to live a life alongside humans. However he never fulfilled his promise. He died before the war ended and as a result never returned. Thus the promise was broken," said Sanbi.
Now it made sense to Robin just what the apology was for. Darcia broke his promise to return to Poseidon. It might not have been his fault given that he died but still, the promise was broken. Brook felt for Poseidon despite the events being a long time ago. He promised to return to Laboon just like how Darcia promised to return to Poseidon. However death stopped both of them from returning to their respective friends. The difference was that he got a second chance thanks to his devil fruit and Luffy. Darcia however was not so lucky. What Poseidon must have been feeling was probably similar to how Laboon felt.
"One of Darcia's nakama brought his final words to Poseidon which was his apology for breaking his promise. However Poseidon did not believe that Darcia broke his promise. She trusted Darcia completely and believed that despite his apology that he would still fulfill his promise. She believed in him so strongly that not even death would have stopped him," said Sanbi.
The Straw Hats were shocked to hear Poseidon's faith in Darcia. She believed in him so much that despite his actually dieing and admitting it himself that he couldn't fulfill his promise, she still held unshakeable faith in him. The Straw Hats all held tremendous faith in themselves and their nakama but even they weren't sure that they could keep a promise if they actually died. After all how could a dead man keep a promise. Poseidon's faith in Darcia was absolutely astonishing that she believed that even death couldn't stop him.
"Poseidon saw Darcia's as her closest and greatest friend, someone who would be there for her no matter what. The friendship between the two was so great that Poseidon unknowingly transferred some of her powers to Darcia," said Sanbi.
"What a minute, she actually gave Darcia the power to control sea kings?" asked Nami.
"No quite, just hear their voices. When she unknowingly transferred some of her powers to Darcia, she gave him the ability to hear their voices, not actually communicate and control them. If you recall, Luffy demonstrated a similar ability while trying to destroy Noah when it was about to destroy Fishman Island," said Sanbi.
"Wait a minute I remember that. Luffy-sama said that he was hearing voices and he realized that it was the sea kings. However he could only hear them, not talk to them. Only I was able to do that," said Shirahoshi remembering how Luffy was able to hear the sea kings.
"It is because of Luffy's heritage that he could hear the sea kings' voices. Darcia got some of Poseidon's power from her so it was only natural that Luffy himself inherit it from his powerful ancestor. The Pirate King and Lord Dragon also have this ability," said Sanbi.
"So that's how Luffy was able to hear the sea kings," thought the Straw Hats, Jinbe and Shirahoshi.
"Anyway back to the story, Poseidon fully believed that Darcia would keep his promise. So she had his final words inscribed on a poneglyph so that it would never disappear. And she ordered Fishman Island to protect Noah no matter what so that when Darcia returned, Noah would still be there for the two of them to keep their promise," said Sanbi.
"Poseidon even converted Noah into an orphanage to further keep the promise. You see Noah wasn't just an ark to take everyone on Fishman Island, it represented the future, the future where humans and fishman get along. The children of Fishman Island are the future and as Noah is a representation of the future, it was the ideal choice for an orphanage. By being a nurturing ground for the children, it was helping the future of Fishman Island which essentially was the purpose of Noah," explained Sanbi why Noah was converted into an orphanage.
"Of course the number of orphans became too much for Noah and the number of orphans sprawled outside and eventually the entire area became the lawless area known as the Fishman District," continued Sanbi.
The citizens of Fishman Island were surprised at hearing the purpose of Noah. They knew that Noah was a giant arc that served as an orphanage but they couldn't believe that it was also something that symbolized fishman's faith in humans and desire to migrate to the surface. They couldn't believe that it represented the future and that it was turned to an orphanage to take care of the future of Fishman Island, the children. Was Poseidon's faith in the human Darcia so great that she would go to such length as entrusting the very children to the giant arc which was a relic that symbolized her faith in that great human?
Robin was also finding all this incredible. She always had an interest in history and historical relics and artifacts particularly those connected to the Void Century. And Noah was just that, a relic from the Void Century left behind by Poseidon and Joy Boy. But now for her its much deeper and more personal, this historical artifact also held a connection to Luffy's ancestor. This made it even more personal to her. Not only was she fascinated by the history of a great man who was also her ex-captain's ancestor but that man was also the ancestor of the one who freed her from her past and gave her a home. Because of this, she held Noah in far greater value than most other objects of historical importance.
"And so years went by where generations upon generations of the Royal Family faithfully guarded the poneglyph and Noah waiting for the day that Darcia would return. The rest as they say is history," said Sanbi finally finishing his tale.
By the end of Sanbi's tale, everyone was silent thinking about what they heard. Many of the populace knew that Noah was important but they didn't know the exact reasons for it.
"I – I – I can't believe, did such a human actually exist?" asked a citizen not believing such a thing was possible.
"Well Shirahoshi-hime could call the sea kings so there must be some truth to it," replied another citizens
"But still, I know that there are good humans like Straw Hat and Whitebeard but what that fishman just said sounds so unbelievable," said another citizen
"Well from what we just heard, that Darcia guy is Straw Hat's ancestor so it should be expected somewhat," replied another citizen.
"But still," replied another citizen.
Vivi and Shirahoshi who were both protected by Surume expressed their own opinions.
"I knew Luffy-san was a great man but to think he's related to such a person," said Vivi also greatly surprised by the tale.
"Luffy-sama, I didn't know that he was related to such a man. And the man that Luffy-sama is related to knows my ancestor," said Shirahoshi her young mind not fully comprehending the magnitude of the tale despite it concerning her directly.
Meanwhile the Straw Hats were having their own thoughts about this, though mostly Robin since she always was interested in history particular those connected to the poneglyphs and the Void Century.
"So that's the story of Joy Boy," said Robin who due to her interest in the Poneglyphs had a great interest in him.
"So that was what you meant when you said that Noah was not supposed to move until the promised day father," said Fukaboshi to his father Neptune.
"Yes, Noah was not supposed to move until the day Darcia would return and Poseidon would have the sea kings life Noah to the surface carrying everyone on it," said Neptune.
"But still, Shirahoshi awakened Poseidon's powers when Luffy-kun arrived and Luffy-kun is a descendant of Darcia. And Noah, the promised ship was actually moved on that same day. All that just can't be a mere coincidence," thought Neptune.
"Could Luffy be the one that was sent to fulfill Darcia's promise? Is that why Poseidon's powers within Shirahoshi emerged, because she somehow sensed Darcia within Luffy?" said Neptune to himself.
Unknown to Neptune was that Fukaboshi was having similar thoughts now finally knowing the full story behind Joy Boy and Poseidon.
"Luffy helped restore fishman's faith in humans just like his ancestor. He helped Shirahoshi regain her strength something Darcia also did for Poseidon. Luffy and Darcia both fought a tremendous battle for Shirahoshi and Poseidon. The similarities that Darcia and Poseidon have with Luffy-kun and Shirahoshi is uncanny. Does that mean that Luffy-kun is the man that w have all been waiting for?" thought Fukaboshi.
Robin's mind was also at work putting together the pieces of the puzzle now that she knew everything.
"Poseidon's power remained dormant and did not emerge until Luffy arrived. It was almost as if Poseidon was waiting for Luffy and finally emerged through Shirahoshi. Luffy is after all, a descendant of the man that Poseidon made the promise to. That must mean that Luffy is the current reincarnation of Darcia," thought Robin.
However as Robin thoughts about it, that last part had some loopholes.
"According to the story, Darcia was suppose to have been the strongest of his time. And as strong as Luffy is, he is not the strongest, his father Dragon is. Also Darcia must have been able to read and write the poneglyphs for him to have actually written that letter. Luffy definitely cannot do that but Dragon probably could. He wouldn't be so intimately knowledgeable about void century, Darcia and the power of D if he couldn't," thought Robin about the similarities between Darcia and Dragon.
"So just which of the two is Darcia's reincarnation. Is it Luffy or Dragon? Could it be both or could it be neither?" thought Robin.
Then she had a dark look.
"Regardless of which is closer to Darcia I do know one thing, Dragon is not the man that Poseidon has been waiting for. She would never have any kind of connection to someone so evil. That means that it just has to be Luffy," thought Robin convinced at her decision.
Wow, finally done, one of the longest chapters to date and one of the best. It describes one of the major characters of the Void Century, Joy Boy. As expected, there is a lot of follow up notes to clarify various things in this chapter. Please read them to gain a better understand of this chapter and to see how it connects to the Fishman Island arc. And please please please please please leave a review behind. I really worked hard on this chapter and would like to see that you all appreciate it.
Before I get into anything there is something I want to mention about One Piece: Chapter 797 that reveals that Sabo has an attack called "Dragon Claw". In Final Holy War, Sabo has the dragon dragon fruit. Both in Oda's One Piece and Final Holy War, Sabo has power associated with a dragon. This might be a foreshadowing that Sabo actually has eaten the dragon dragon fruit. Even still for Oda to give Sabo a dragon based attack after I myself gave Sabo the dragon dragon devil fruit, it means that yet another one of my ideas actually showed up in Oda's One Piece.
This is actually the third time one of my ideas actually appeared in Oda's One Piece manga. The first time was during Caribous Kehihihihi storyline involving Gaburu. Gaburu was a revolutionary commander who was connected to Caribou because they both look alike. Similarly in my fic, Caribou was associated with Revolutionary Commander Doflamingo.
The second idea that I had that showed up in Oda's One Piece was Koala. In One Piece Final Holy War Koala was a revolutionary commander while in Oda's One Piece she was a revolutionary. In fact in both my fic and Oda's One Piece both are adept at Fishman Karate. In my fic Koala is a master of fishman karate while in Oda's One Piece she is a fishman karate substitute teacher. Not only did my idea of Koala being a revolutionary actually show up in Oda's manga, but her knowing fishman karate as well.
And finally there is Sabo's Dragon Claw. In Oda's One Piece Sabo has an attack called Dragon Claw while in this fic, Sabo actually has eaten a dragon dragon devil fruit. Yet again another of my ideas showed up in Oda's One Piece.
Well now just to answer some questions.
Someone asked about adding powers from other anime. Truth is I do. For example Sanbi is similar to the Hulk and the Juggernaut both from the Marvel Universe. However I change them around so that they make sense. In other words, I try to offer an explanation for the powers. For example, Sanbi's water powers are not due to magic or anything but rather mastery over Fishman Karate. I try to refrain from using things like magic which have no explanation. But a lot of the abilities I employ for the army, they do take inspiration from other sources. However again I change them around to make them more believable and the characters are all unique, not straight copies of other characters.
Again I wish to point out that his fic diverges after chapter 653 and episode 573 which is when the Straw Hats just leave Fishman Island, before they encounter the pod of whales. So Admiral Fujitora, Kinemon, Bartolomew all these Dressrosa characters don't exist here. In fact Caesar Clown, Monet and Vergo don't exist here as they were introduced long afterwards. Law exists because he was present before the timeskip however he is not a Shichbukai but instead one of the few revolutionary commanders to survive the purging.
Regarding the romance, even though this is a harem fic, Luffy is not with the crew and wouldn't be coming back for a while. In addition a war is going on so there's no real time for romance. So don't expect too much lovey-dovey from Luffy for that same reason.
Now that's over with, onto the chapter notes. There are a lot so please read through them carefully to better understand this chapter.
Keep in mind that Uranus hasn't been revealed yet. Pluton and Poseidon have both already been confirmed in Oda's One Piece. However Uranus is still unknown. So even though this fic establishes Uranus as a mega sea king, we still don't know for sure as Oda hasn't revealed it. So I chose to use that to my advantage and create Uranus myself which is the same Kraken from the 2010 movie Clash of the Titans.
Notice that during the entire chapter I make no mention of the Order of the Knights of D or the Ancient Kingdom of Imperion. That is because the Straw Hats don't know about either. We the readers know from chapter 20 "Elder Stars Fade and New World Order" but the Straw Hats don't know. What we the readers know and what the Straw Hats know are two different things. I want to reveal everything slowly, not all at once. I want to save the history of the Order of the Knights of D and Imperion for a later time.
Fishman Island has a very important role in the creation of the ancient weapons. After all Fishman Island created not one but two ancient weapons and both of them are living things.
The relationship between Uranus and Darcia is similar to the one between Luffy and Surume. Surume and Uranus were both Kraken that were defeated by Luffy and Darcia respectively and also became good friends with them. Even more so, Luffy the descendant of Darcia defeated and befriended Surume, the descendant of Uranus. It's almost like history is repeating itself given how similar the relationship between Luffy and Surume is to Darcia and Uranus. Of course the main difference is how that relationship ended. Unlike Luffy and Surume's, Darcia's relationship with Uranus ended tragically.
In Oda's One Piece, Surume is just a Kraken but this chapter shows that there is far more to Surume than his just being a Kraken. I really say that I did a good job making Surume far more important than he was in Oda's One Piece.
Shirahoshi's past was similar to Poseidon's. Both Shirahoshi and Poseidon were sheltered and emotionally fragile mermaids and were locked away due to their ability to summon the sea kings. Of course the difference is why they were isolated. Poseidon was locked away because everyone on Fishman Island feared her power and Shirahoshi was locked away to protect her from Vander Decken.
Poseidon wasn't really locked away because everyone was afraid of her but it was more to keep her from accidently summoning the sea kings. Even if Poseidon was locked away, her loud voice could still reach the sea kings. But that ability is triggered by emotions. So by isolating Poseidon from people, she would not be exposed to too much emotions. Think of it like this. If Poseidon was outside and a merman chose to make a perverted comment to her, because she is so shy, she might over-react and accidently summon the sea kings. This is unlikely since it is not enough emotions, but given the sea kings could literally destroy Fishman Island, no one wanted to take even the slightest of chances. So she was locked away. It wasn't justified to lock away an innocent young mermaid for a power she had no control of but no one wanted to risk her calling the sea kings. However ironically this made her even more fragile and emotional so by locking her up, the chances of Poseidon accidently summoning the sea kings actually increased.
Shirahoshi's relationship with Luffy is very reminiscent of Poseidon's relationship with Darcia. Darcia found Poseidon purely by accident yet immediately formed a strong friendship with her just as Luffy found Shirahoshi by accident and quickly became friends with her. And just as how Darcia convinced Poseidon that she was not meant to be alone and freed her from her prison, Luffy convinced Shirahoshi to leave the Shell Tower and to see the world. And just as how Darcia protected Poseidon from the residents of Fishman Island, Luffy protected Shirahoshi from Vander Decken. And just as how Darcia fought a hard and nearly impossible battle against the Ancient Alliance to rescue Poseidon when she was captured, Luffy fought to save Shirahoshi's kingdom from Hody and the New Fishman Pirates and even risked death from blood less trying to stop Noah from crushing Fishman Island. And just as how Darcia's actions really moved Poseidon and made her become a stronger person, Luffy's actions made Shirahoshi stop being a crybaby and even said he would take her out to see a real forest. Indeed the relationship between the two is nearly identical to their ancestors.
Darcia's actions in rescuing Poseidon from the Ancient Alliance was similar to how Luffy saved Robin from the World Government. The Ancient Alliance was the Superpower at the time just as the World Government was. Likewise Luffy did not hesitate to challenge them for Robin just as Darcia did for Poseidon. Robin was very valuable since she could read the Poneglyphs and hence awaken the Ancient Weapons will Poseidon herself was an ancient weapon. Because both Robin and Poseidon were very valuable they were held in impenetrable strongholds, specifically Ennies Lobby for Robin. Likewise Robin was guarded by CP9 while Poseidon was guarded by some of the strongest fighters of the Ancient Alliance. For both Robin and Poseidon, Luffy and his ancestor Darcia had to fight major uphill battles and for both, Luffy and his ancestor emerged victorious. And finally, Luffy and Darcia's actions permanently and positively changed Robin and Poseidon for the better and the two even fell in love with their respective heroes.
The naval fleet sent to capture Poseidon was the largest ever assembled at the time. Because they were going underwater where the sea kings had the advantage, nothing short but the largest was acceptable. The greatest number of ships ever assembled and the ships themselves were also the largest and sturdiest ever built. The sea kings could inflict heavy damage but against a fleet like that, not even they could stop it. Furthermore some of the strongest fighters were onboard at the time. Zoro and Sanji showed that they could still be strong even while underwater so it was the same thing. The fleet had powerful fighters that could take down sea kings even while underwater. Also they had a massive number of soldiers that while might not be able to defeat Darcia could distract or even exhaust him. Furthermore the stronger fighters could help. With the ships being so large and in so massive numbers along with the powerful "sea-king killers" onboard, even Poseidon's power wouldn't have been enough to take down such an armada.
The element of surprise was also a factor. No one could have predicted that the Ancient Alliance would do such a daring move. They are sending ships into enemy territory, underwater where not only are their strength reduced but the sea kings are at their full strength. Because it came as such a surprise, Darcia was unable to get help in time. Likewise, Poseidon might have been able to take down the fleet with a massive army of sea kings but the attack was so sudden that she simply didn't have enough time. She could only call forth a few sea kings nearby which wouldn't have been enough to handle a fleet of that size.
How Uranus the Kraken became Uranus the Ancient Weapon has been revealed. Uranus as a friend of Darcia rallied his family to help battle the invading fleet but sadly it was not enough and his family was murdered before his very eyes. In rage and sorrow, he asked Darcia to give him power, the power to avenge his family, to turn him into a colossal engine of destruction. Thus Darcia mixed his blood with the blood of Uranus dead family and literally had him bathe in the blood of his family and cannibalize on his murdered family. Also he transferred some of his divine haki to Uranus thus giving him a major power boost. All this turned Uranus the gentle Kraken into the unstoppable Ancient Weapon.
When Uranus ate the flesh and drank the blood of his deceased family that was like their power and essence was transferred to Uranus. In addition, he received the blood and kamishoku haki from Darcia and we know that divine haki by itself is strong but divine haki from Darcia specifically, Uranus became exponentially more powerful. Cannibalism could lead to deformities which is how Uranus became the monstrous ancient weapon from "Clash of the Titans". In addition, eating the flesh, drinking and most of all bathing in the the blood of his murdered family is like baptism, he was literally baptized with the blood his family to become a monster. Also, he had to do all that to truly become a weapon. If he simply just accepted Darcia's blood and haki, he would definitely be much stronger, but still be a Kraken, not a weapon. But why cannibalizing on his family, he became insane, no longer a Kraken but an insane monster, a true weapon. The madness and insanity from doing such an atrocious act is really what changed Uranus into an monster. Darcia's blood and haki gave Uranus that power, but it was really the baptism in blood that gave Uranus the madness to be a monster. And there was also the fact that he received extra power from his fallen family by eating their flesh and drinking their blood.
You can see why Uranus was driven insane. It watched its family die right before its very eyes. And if that wasn't bad enough, he literally ate their flesh and drank their blood. He even went as far as to bathe in their blood. How could Uranus not be an insane weapon after all that?
Uranus despite becoming a monster still retained some of its humanity per say. It recognized the monster that it became and thus journey to the furthest edges of the planet, the end of the world where it would never hurt anyone ever again. There at a certain island, it literally broke the base of the island apart and buried itself underneath the rubble essentially sealing itself away where it could never come out and never hurt anyway every again. You can imagine how much courage it took to do that and the bond it shared with Darcia. Its bond was so strong that despite everything, loosing its family, cannibalizing on their flesh, it was still able to recognize Darcia. Furthermore you can imagine how hard a decision it was to go to the end of the world, the loneliest place on earth and seal yourself there where you will be alone for the rest of your life.
Uranus and Raftel. I did say that Uranus went to the end of the world and Raftel is the last island on the Grand Line, so the end of the world actually refers to Raftel. This is why I said Uranus is actually on Raftel, because Uranus actually went there to seal itself at the base of the island.
The Straw Hats do not know that Uranus is on Raftel. They know that Uranus went to the end of the world and sealed itself there but they don't know that Uranus specifically went to Raftel. In fact Sanbi never once mentioned the word Raftel. We the readers know that Raftel is actually the end of the world, but the Straw Hats don't know that. Again what we the readers know and what the Straw Hats know are two different things. I don't want the Straw Hats to know that Uranus is on Raftel yet, I'll reveal that some time later. I don't want to reveal everything at once now do I.
Uranus is still alive. It is asleep but still alive. Krakens have very long life spans and Uranus was pretty much a young adult so it still had plenty of years left. In addition to that, Darcia's divine haki further increased its lifespan so it is still alive, asleep and waiting to be resurrected by its master.
Uranus is quite possible the most tragic character in this fic. I mean there are a lot of tragic people, for example Robin was on the run for twenty years and Shirahoshi had to live with the knowledge of her mother's murderer. But none of them actually had to literally eat their families flesh and drink their blood. Many characters lost their loved ones but none of them had to actually cannibalize on them. Furthermore Robin and Shirahoshi had happy endings, Robin found her family among the Straw Hats and Shirahoshi was free from the burdens of her past. Uranus however did not have a happy ending. Instead he chose to willingly go to the end of the world, the loneliest place on earth and seal himself there where he would spend the rest of his days alone and isolated. Just think for a moment and see if even Oda can make a character more tragic than Uranus.
Why Darcia was called Joy Boy has finally been revealed. Of course he brought great joy to Fishman Island but it was more than just that. He put a lot on the line not just for Poseidon but all of Fishman Island. Humans at the time looked down on fishmen. Darcia however was friends with Poseidon, in fact he was such great friends with her that he literally challenged the Ancient Alliance directly for her. Not even fishmen would go that far for each other and yet Darcia, a human did it for a mermaid. For a human to go to such lengths for a mermaid was the beginning of Darcia's fame on Fishman Island. Then there was the Invading Fleet of the Ancient Alliance. Poseidon could have easily just swam away and Darcia could have left Fishman Island to their demise. However he chose to stay. Despite how uphill and suicidal it was to stay and fight for Fishman Island, he chose to do it anyway. For Darcia a human to actually stand up for them and choose to protect them from such a massive naval fleet when he didn't have to especially when he was a human, he truly went far for them. But his greatest act of bravery was when he chose to sacrifice Uranus, his friend for them. It's one thing if Darcia sacrificed himself for them, but here he did something far greater. He sacrificed his friend, even subjected Uranus to the most atrocious things possible all for their sake. Darcia despite being human, made one of the biggest sacrifices for them, he sacrificed his friend. After doing all that how could he not be a hero to the people?
The purpose of Noah has finally been revealed. It was built as a symbol of the newfound friendship between humans and fishmen due to Darcia's heroic deeds and great patriotism. All fishmen would gather inside the giant arc and Poseidon would have the sea kings pull the massive arc to the surface carrying all the fishmen there where they would live alongside humans. Unfortunately that never happened.
Joy Boy's apology to Poseidon has finally been revealed. A massive war was going on and Darcia knew that if fishmen joined hands with humans now, they would have gotten involved in the war. So he instead decided to wait until the war was over. He promised Poseidon that when the war was over, he would return and then fishmen would gather inside the arc and Poseidon would have the sea kings raise it to the surface. Unfortunately he died before he could return. Thus he was never able to return to Poseidon and keep his promise to her. Even though circumstances were beyond his control, he still felt he broke his promise to her. He sent one of his nakama to deliver his final words and apology to Poseidon. Poseidon however did not believe that Darcia broke his promise. She believed in him so much that not even death would stop him from keeping his word. She thus had his final words and apology inscribed on a poneglyph where she instructed the populace of Fishman Island to guard Noah until that fateful day Darcia should return.
The promised was fulfilled. Poseidon instructed that Fishman Island protect Noah until Darcia's return. And Darcia indeed did return. Luffy came to Fishman Island exactly at the same time Poseidon's power emerged. He and Shirahoshi became friends just as Darcia and Poseidon was. The relationship between the two is in many ways similar to the one between Darcia and Poseidon. So the promise was indeed fulfilled. Of course a lot more has to happen given that Luffy is on the side of the main antagonist.
Why Luffy was able to hear the sea kings has been revealed. The bond between Darcia and Poseidon was so strong that Poseidon unknowingly transferred some of her power to Darcia. Darcia did something similar, he transferred some of his power to Poseidon in the form of confidence and strength. Poseidon gave some of her powers to Darcia. And since Luffy is Darcia's descendant, he too can hear the sea kings. Also Poseidon only transferred some of her powers, not all of them. She only gave Darcia the ability to hear the sea kings. He did not gain the ability to speak to or control them. Only Poseidon and Shirahoshi can do that. Finally Gol D Roger who is also a descendant of Darcia can also hear the sea kings.
Shirahoshi is NOT distantly related to Luffy. Even though Darcia and Poseidon were great friends, the two did NOT have a child. If that was the case, said child would also be Shirahoshi's ancestor which would mean that Shirahoshi herself was a descendant of both Darcia and Poseidon which would mean that she is distantly related to Luffy. Personally I do not like relationship between relatives, even distant ones. Shonen tends to like doing that for some reason. Hashirama Senju married his own cousin Mito Uzumaki and Gol D Roger had a child with Portgas D Rouge. It feels like incest when relatives no matter how distant have a relationship. So again Shirahoshi and Luffy are NOT related in any way shape or form.
Rayliegh's words, "The Voice of All Things". The voice of all things is actually an indirect reference to the Power of D. The voice of all things allowed Roger to read and write the poneglyphs. But remember the poneglyphs are actually written in the language of Imperion, and Darcia as king of Imperion could read and write it. When you awaken the Will of D, you become like Darcia and can thus read the poneglyphs which is how Roger and Dragon can do it. When Rayliegh said the voice of all things, he was referring to the ability to hear the voices of all things. Specifically kenbunshoku haki enhanced by kamishoku allowed the wielder to hear all the voices around them. And true descendants of Darcia can even hear the voices of sea kings. Both of these abilities are associated with the Will of D and the Will of D is needed in order to read the poneglyphs since the ancient kingdom Imperion created the poneglyphs and Darcia was king of Imperion. So the voice of all things was an indirect reference to the Will of D. Basically when Rayliegh said that Roger could read the poneglyphs because he could hear the voice of all things, he actually was saying that Roger could read the poneglyph because Roger had the Will of D. The reason that Rayliegh was so cryptic and didn't tell Robin was to protect her. After all, the world government literally destroyed Ohara because of the poneglyphs and Rayliegh knew that the knowledge of the Will of D and the poneglyphs was too dangerous and the Straw Hats were not strong enough to defend themselves from the dangers associated with the Will of D.
Both Luffy and Dragon share a lot of similarities with Darcia. Luffy is similar to Darcia for his strong heart, love for his friends and a lot of his circumstances. Remember Luffy befriended a Kraken just like Darcia and befriended Shirahoshi just as Darcia did with Poseidon. Dragon also shares a lot of similarities with Darcia. Both Dragon and Darcia were the strongest of their times. Darcia led the Ancient Kingdom of Imperion and led it against the Ancient Alliance just as Dragon led the Revolutionary Army against the world government. Also both Dragon and Darcia were the greatest haki users alive and both can read the poneglyph. So right now its probably confusing as to who is Darcia's reincarnation, Luffy or Dragon. All that would be made clear later down the road.
