Chapter Nine:
Hunky Hunky
To say the fair was fun would be an understatement.
By the end of the night, the sky was lit with fireworks, Silver's stomach was full, and Fiona had bunches of stuffed animals. Amy had gotten to ride all the rides, even the kiddie ones as a mere joke but she embarrassingly sat next to a five-year-old who developed a crush on her.
Oh, the joys of using that to degrade Shadow's happiness for the day.
Amy was now nestled in his arms though. Not the five-year-old who didn't want to stop hugging her. Shadow frowned at the thought of the young boy. Oh, how he enjoyed seeing Silver joke to the boy that Amy was too old for him. Then again, the next thing the boy did was climb a tree and sit in it.
Shadow looked down at the pink hedgehog and lovingly nipped her quills. She moved a little, throwing an arm out across his body.
Everything was going smoothly so far. He was hoping the trip wouldn't last for long, however. Two weeks camping was enough. He missed his apartment—his bed—his couch—his TV—his bunny slippers that only Amy knew existed because they were hers.
Boy…
Had Shadow the Hedgehog became whipped.
Amy squirmed in his grasp to turn onto her back. Shadow waited until her breathing slowed again. Shadow leant down and softly planted a kiss on her nose.
"Hmm…"
The ebony hedgehog cradled his girlfriend in an attempt to put her back to sleep, but Amy opened her eyes not a moment later. She only wrapped her arms around his neck. Shadow bent down to hide his face in the crook between her shoulder and neck. Amy peered over his shoulder and suddenly her eyes went wide.
Sonic was just staring.
At them.
Amy blushed like a tomato. "Sonic…" she moaned with annoyance.
Shadow's head went up like a bullet being fired. He glared down at his girlfriend and lowly growled. But her gaze wasn't on him. Shadow slowly turned to see Sonic blankly staring back at her.
"Sonic…"
Sonic merely laid there while hiding Sarah's small body with his own, larger one. He tilted his head against a bulge in the blankets that was easily Sarah's head. "What?"
Shadow muttered something and ripped the blankets off of him, heading to the bathroom and leaving Amy in the freezing bed. The rose hedgehog pouted before glaring at Sonic, "Killjoy."
Sonic shrugged. "I didn't tell him to get out of the bed. I don't care if you two cuddle in front of me. Now if you two started making out…I would feel uncomfortable. Of course, I'd just wake Sarah up and get to third base while you're still on, like…First."
Amy coldly glared at the grinning hero. Sonic chuckled under his breath before hiding underneath the blankets. Not a few seconds later, Amy heard moans and smacking sounds.
"Oh, my God."
Amy hurriedly got up and knocked on the bathroom door. Shadow ripped it open with a toothbrush in his mouth.
His girlfriend walked in and locked the door, but not without saying, "Let's make out."
Silver watched Shadow look at his breakfast—a confused look on the Ultimate Life Form's face—while Silver himself ate his food rather happily. "Dude…Are you okay?"
Shadow glanced up before looking back down at his eggs benedict. "Would you be a little confused if your girlfriend willingly made out with you while you were brushing your teeth?"
Silver furrowed his eyebrows. "Um…Sure. Why?"
Shadow just stared at the table with wide eyes, lost in space. "Everything was so minty."
"Okay…"
Silver stared at Amy as she sat down next to Shadow and started to eat. Silver then stared at Blaze—wondering if such a thing would ever happen to them. Deciding it would probably not, and not to mention be for the best if it didn't, Silver went back to eating while leaving the rest of the group to chit chat.
"She's named every single stuffed animal," Scourge whispered with only Knuckles listening. "It was hell…I had to sleep next to all the cheap ones that aren't stuffed with anything but Styrofoam. She gets the fluffy ones filled with cotton balls," he moped. "The damn shark one kicked my ass last night."
Knuckles snorted, "The hammerhead?"
"Hammy," Scourge faked Fiona's voice while pretending to look happy. "He's round and fat and practicably adorable!" He went back to slouching over and shoving his breakfast in his mouth. "Adorable my ass…"
"But round and fat is true," Knuckles chuckled.
Scourge only nodded. All the while, Fiona glared at him. It took the "badass" awhile to notice, but when he did, he froze with the fork in his mouth. "Fiona?"
She only pointed her butter knife at him. "Don't speak ill of Hammy. He will eat you."
Knuckles watched with wide eyes, along with Scourge, as Fiona slowly and creepily went back to eating her breakfast. The red echidna swallowed his toast hastily before patting Scourge on the shoulder.
"I fear for how your child will turn out."
Scourge leaned in to whisper, "With my luck, she'll name him Hammy."
"What if it's a girl?"
Scourge and Knuckles glanced across the table to Sarah and Sonia. Sarah was currently licking her spoon like no other and Sonia was watching with a grossed out expression.
"Fine, Hammiet," Scourge shrugged again.
There was a nice, peaceful silence before Sarah decided to break it again. "Do you want a girl?"
"What?" Scourge stopped to stare blankly at the female. It was like time was going slower while Mobians walked by with trays full of breakfast in the white breakfast lobby.
Sarah only leaned forward a little. "Do you want a Hammiet?"
Scourge wasn't sure if he wanted to answer, comfort the gaze Fiona was giving him, or flip Sarah off. What did a girl have to do with anything? Oh, right…The baby. The baby that actually existed.
His baby.
His baby that was currently swimming in its own sea in Fiona's womb—and Sarah wanted to know if he gave a damn about the gender. He just wasn't sure if he wanted to make Fiona worry because he actually did give a damn about the sex of his child.
If it was a boy, Scourge would at least feel a little more at ease with the whole parenting thing. He knew what a boy would like—at least a teenage to an adult one. Little boys would probably just like race car toys and boyish things.
But a girl…
Scourge frowned mentally.
A girl would want girlish things, wouldn't she? Unless she was into toy cars and robots. Scourge didn't know where to start with raising a baby girl. She'd probably want more attention than a baby boy—he'd seen Cecile act like that multiple times.
Garratt and Lora's baby girl, Cecile, was always crying and wailing and upset about God knows what. It drove her parents up the wall and Scourge could never stand it for five minutes before deciding to call guys night a quit and going home to Fiona.
"Umm…" Scourge coughed. "I don't care," he mumbled in response.
It probably wasn't what Fiona wanted to hear, because she turned away abruptly with a 'humph' and wouldn't make eye contact. Sarah was happy to hear it however and Scourge wished the reactions were flipped.
Ugh…
Scourge rolled his eyes at the females around him. They were all so different yet worked under the same program that men had yet to figure out. They were difficult for Scourge to actually attach to—that was why Fiona was probably so different, despite the fact that his child was growing inside of her now.
He only knew one thing: how to get into women's pants. He could seduce them easily. Understanding women and raising a baby girl were two different roads that were both sketchy to Scourge. They were both hard to understand and do—at least to him.
So, with that, Scourge chose to go back to his breakfast and ignore Sarah and Fiona and any other female that chose to utter a vowel to him.
They would most likely drive him nuts in the end, anyway.
Women…
Espio watched his official girlfriend shove countless clothes in a duffel bag.
She's leaving me…
This was the first thought in the poor chameleon's head. Ever since this trip started, Alicia ignored him to talk to Sunny (her new, as Espio jealousy said, "best friend") and Sonia. Hell, even Charmy was talking to her more than he was.
She's running away. Maybe Sarah pissed her off. Or Rouge. Seems likely.
His brain was thus thrown into a traffic jam full of jumbled thoughts. He wasn't sure what to believe or what to do as he watched the she wolf just pile clothes and towels in a duffel bag. She grabbed her shades before slipping on her flip flops and turning towards him, her wings folding in as she stared innocently at him—as if she had only spent time with him on this entire trip.
"Well?"
Espio cocked an eyebrow. "Well, what? You're the one leaving."
Alicia snorted. "I'm not leaving, silly." She pinched his cheek, causing him to pull away and grumble. "We're going to the beach! I told you this in the elevator, remember?"
Then again, maybe she had talked to him this entire trip.
Truth be told, Espio noticed when she wasn't talking to him. He didn't understand a word she said when she was talking to him, however. It was like trying to listen to a static radio and he sooner or later learned to block it out.
This made him unsure of whether or not who was the bad partner in this relationship.
"We are?"
"Yes."
Espio blinked and stared down at his attire that he was forced into wearing thanks to Alicia. Shorts and a T-shirt. That was good enough seeing as he probably wouldn't be doing any swimming. "Fine, fine," he stood up, "I'm ready."
"Good!" Alicia chirped and grabbed his wrist, suddenly yanking his arm out of his socket just to get them both to the elevator.
~~~.~~~
Sonic had never been so terrified in his life.
Okay, that was a lie. The swimming pool lessons were terrible. He had a nightmare that same night and nearly choked Sarah to death his sleep. All the while, she was punching him in the sides and whining to get his attention. It wasn't until the hero's dream changed into a sea of water when he practically turned on his side and fell off the bed like it was an attempt to drown himself.
Sarah wasn't positive what was going on with him, but she didn't really dare to find out. She was just thankful he let her breathe finally.
However, right now…
Sonic's hand was tightly grasping her wrist and she had lost all feeling in the hand and fingers whatsoever. Soothing him was out of the question seeing as it appeared to only make him worry more as the future seemed inevitable to him.
"You don't have to swim, Sonic," Sarah stated. "I'll swim for the both of us and you can chill on the warm sand where the water won't touch you."
"Why does water have to exist?" Sonic mumbled under his breath.
Out of the corner of his peripheral, he saw red eyes glaring. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Shadow was hating this just as much as Sonic by the way he was dragging his feet and how Amy had him in a death grip just as Sonic did Sarah.
"This is coming from the one who takes an hour in the shower."
"That's different!" Sonic hissed. "I can drink water and take showers. Baths are terrible and so is swimming!"
Shadow rolled his eyes. He continued to follow Amy into the lobby of the hotel before they came to a stop near some chairs and beside the desk where the girl on the first day had been. Her spot was now being replaced by a purple echidna. She typed quickly on the computer as if her life depended on it, never taking notice of the three heroes and fourth wheel.
"We'll wait here for the others," Amy sat down in one of the black chairs. "We were early."
"Of course," Shadow murmured while he took a seat, followed by Sonic and Sarah in their own chairs.
Amy sighed mentally from her boyfriend's behavior. She wanted this trip to be perfect and especially with him. It would be a great bonding time for their relationship, but Shadow seemed persistent on seeing things as boring or useless. He wasn't optimistic enough for East Mobius to handle.
The young flower watched the Mobians walk by in groups, her eyes aimlessly wandering to a certain group she'd seen before. The guys from the gym were lounging around in their own chairs only a few feet away.
Amy recognized the white fox from earlier as Lenny. His bright green eyes met hers and his face went into a smile as he waved slightly at her. She waved back, Shadow being oblivious but Lenny's friends not so much.
Dan, the grey hedgehog, turned around in his seat and made out a strangled laugh as he realized who it was. He nodded to her before motioning her over. Amy shook her head at first and pointed towards Shadow.
Dan and Lenny both glanced at the Ultimate Life Form. He was closing his eyes and linking his fingers as he slept in his chair, obviously unaware of what was happening and more aware of catching his beauty sleep to miss out on swimming at the beach.
Amy glimpsed at Sonic. The blue hero was looking up at the ceiling, but Sarah had a confused look on her face and it was pointed towards Amy. The pink hedgehog motioned to the guys from the gym and gave Sarah a look. The lime green hedgehog shrugged, noticing and remembering the males but giving a look of unimportance to Amy.
A cough disrupted their gazes and both glanced at the group of muscular men, all of which had their eyes on the luscious ladies now.
Sarah waved slightly, moving each finger and grinning sweetly. Amy almost snorted at how flirty she was being but got up and easily maneuvered over to them without waking Shadow. It didn't take long to feel Sarah's shadow looming over her.
"Hey," Lenny greeted in a very casual tone as he lay back in the chair, "Our favorite ladies here to escort us to the beach?"
"How did you know that's where we were going?" Sarah put her hands on her hips.
The red wolf pointed to her towel around her waist. "Your bathing suit sticking out is enough info for us to go on."
Sarah pulled her towel up a little before glancing at her one piece and shrugging. "Okay, it's not that discreet, but still…checking out a taken lady."
Dan laughed at her while Amy rolled her eyes. The rose hedgehog stared at Dan for a long time before saying, "What are guys doing here exactly?"
"Well, if you mean why we're in East Mobius on vacation," Lenny started.
Marty, the badger, cleared his throat and finished, "We took some leave from our athletic teaching positions at a school."
"Well, Marty and Lenny did," Dan waved his friends off. "I'm on vacation simply to get away from a clingy ex. Vince is my childhood friend and decided to come along, too."
The blue echidna nodded his head while raising his hand, introducing himself for the second time to the two females. "And then Jason and Zach surf here. They're the adrenaline junkies," he scoffed while the brown hedgehog and red wolf flexed their muscles proudly. "They'll do anything to show off—I warn you though, it's more brawn than brain."
"Hey!" Zach, the wolf, growled. "I'm plenty smart. Just took time away from college to enjoy the bachelor life unlike ole Dan here that has to deal with a stalking ex-girlfriend."
Dan shivered while Amy patted him on the shoulder. She gave him a reassuring smile. "Well, I hope you guys enjoy your stay here. We've already told you our story."
"Yes, but…We haven't gotten to know you all yet," Jason grinned evilly.
"Right," Sarah started to back away. "Let's just say our adieus and leave it at that."
"Oh, come on," Dan whined. "Live a little. Invite your friends to hang out with us."
"Which ones, the females or the males?" Amy playfully challenged.
"The females," Zach winked at her, causing her to blush.
Both Amy and Sarah looked at each other on cue. Their heads were swimming in the thought of just hanging out with these guys instead of their boyfriends. It would certainly tick the latter off.
"Sorry," Amy politely declined, "but I believe we've started off enough ticking bombs to last for the rest of our vacation."
"See you around," Dan waved shortly as Sarah and Amy walked back to Sonic and Shadow, who were still unmindful to them having ever left.
Rouge tipped her sunglasses down to stare at the blue echidna standing on the beach—who of course was Vince. She recognized him from the gym and watched the show he put on her for her, whether he knew it or not.
The white bat rested on her towel next to her friends. Vince was stretching while watching his buddies go out into the open water. At first, Rouge figured he had a think about swimming. Then she realized she didn't care if he hated swimming because that would allow her to talk to him as she wasn't a big swimmer either.
With that thought in mind, our ivory female stood up, dusted herself off, and sauntered over to Vince—swaying her hips in a fashion that made all the guys nearby stop and stare. The watchers were aware of just how fine Rouge was, what with all the curves in the right places. They were just disappointed one by one when she walked by them without giving them one glance and instead went to the blue echidna.
"Hi," she said, putting her hands on her hips and making Vince turn around abruptly.
Vince smirked as he continued to stretch. "Hello. I thought your friend said it would be mean if you didn't spend time with your boyfriend."
Rouge glanced back at Knuckles. The hot headed Mobian was currently poking a crab for the hell of it. She shrugged. "I saw the scenery."
"I see."
They stood in awkward silence before Vince whistled. "So…What brings you here?"
"Well, ya see…My boyfriend is actually my fiancé," Rouge blushed as she jerked her thumb back to Knuckles. "And I was just coming over to talk to you—seeing as I do know you."
"You don't know me enough to visit," Vince sat down on his chair.
Rouge took the vacant one next to him without missing a beat. She crossed her legs as he watched—his eyes devouring her body though he knew it was wrong.
"That's exactly why I came, to get to know you."
"Seems odd."
"How so?"
"You have a fiancé but continue to flirt with men. It doesn't seem like you're very loyal."
"I'm very much so loyal," Rouge lay back in the chair. "I do not flirt with that many men, and if so it's only to get my fiancé's attention—he's a little slow at times when it comes to affection."
"Yet he proposed…So, I'm merely being used for your need?"
Rouge flicked her hair over her shoulder. "Correct."
"Well, as long as you make me look good in front of that girl," Vince pointed to a nearby echidna lying in the sand, "I'll do whatever you want me to."
Rouge stared at the innocent girl before evilly smirking. She turned back to Vince and said, "Oh, honey, it's what I do."
~~~.~~~
"What about him?"
"An easy five."
"Oh, come on," the fox whined while trying to have a decent conversation with Sarah and Blaze. "You both are so picky."
"I'm not picky," Blaze told Fiona. "It's just that you have low standards."
Fiona gasped and sat up. "I don't have low standards!"
Sarah snorted and raised her hand over her eyes to block the sun from her view as she looked up to the fox. "Yet you're with Scourge."
That got Fiona.
The female fidgeted before submitting and falling back down on the towel. "Fine…I have lower standards than most but it's my sexual appetite."
"We can figure that out for ourselves," Sarah muttered.
"What does that mean?" Fiona went back to sitting up and exclaiming in disbelief.
Blaze only pointed at her stomach. "You're pregnant."
That one got Fiona, too.
She huffed and slowly lay back down on the towel this time. She just couldn't make a decent conversation with these guys.
"Watch out!"
Their ears perked up and their heads turned to the left. There, catching a Frisbee with ease was a tall and handsome hedgehog. He was a deep auburn color with long quills. His eyes shone the like the brightest sea.
"Hunky hunky…" Sarah whispered.
Fiona licked her lips while Blaze gaped. Sarah was pretty sure her arm was covered in slobber. This Mobian had it happening on those three females. He was good looking—beyond good looking, and they figured by the time he flexed his muscles that he was practically a really hot god.
"He's gorgeous…" Blaze murmured as she was entranced with the Sexy Beast.
Sarah leaned back to get a good look. "I want Christmas early this year…"
"Can he be my baby's daddy instead?" Fiona pointed to him.
Blaze and Sarah slowly looked at her. Fiona shrugged. "What? He's hot."
"He's beyond hot. He's smoking," Blaze went back to gazing upon Sexy Beast's abs as he just had to be shirtless.
"He's got to be a ten."
"Or like an eleven."
"He's an easy twenty."
"You think he'll buy us drinks?"
"You can't drink, you're pregnant."
Fiona shrugged. "Fine, do you think he'd buy us food?"
"We could say we're into foursomes."
The cat and fox just had to look at the third female. Sarah innocently smiled back. "I-It was a joke."
"Sure," Blaze narrowed her eyebrows in confusion before glancing back at Sexy Beast.
Fiona tilted her head. "Then again…"
Blaze nodded her head in understanding. "It could work."
By the time that sentence was finished, those towels were empty.
"Has anyone seen the girls?" Silver glanced around near the volleyball pit beside their stuff.
Knuckles shook his head. "Nah. Cream said her and Sunny were going back to the hotel—something about fear of sharks."
"And Sonia went to hang out with Flame," Sonic growled under his breath. "Manic followed Sunny, of course."
"And I have no clue where the rest are," Shadow concernedly looked around for his girlfriend. If she was lost, he'd never find her. "Amy?!"
"Relax, she knows where we're staying," Knuckles reassured.
"What if she's kidnapped?" Tails inquired, making Shadow glare. "I mean…You know…On a possibility chart—"
"Shut up," Shadow snarled. He hastily searched for anything pink. "She's never gone this long."
"Maybe you're just being clingy," Scourge finally spoke up. Sonic rolled his eyes while the green male snorted at him. "Of course, it seems out of character for you."
"I'm not clingy," Shadow hissed under his breath. "I'm worried, that's all. I care for my girlfriend."
"Hey, I do too," Sonic whined. "I just can't…find her at the moment."
"Haha! You have such a great sense of humor!"
None of the guys said it. In fact, it was a girly voice—a very familiar girly voice. Scourge's eyes narrowed at the red hedgehog who dared to touch his lover's skin. Fiona sat at the bar with a drink in her hand, laughing at whatever this mysterious male said.
"How many could you do with me?"
Sonic glared at his girlfriend who was friendly chatting with the red hedgehog's friend—a brown hedgehog the size of freakin' King Kong. Sonic didn't even want to know what Sarah asked him, especially if it involved with 'rounds'.
"Oh, great…" Knuckles murmured. "He's got friends."
"At least Rouge isn't over there," Tails noted, "And Amy."
"Yet," Shadow stated. "These males show to be superior looking than us."
"What makes you say that?" Scourge challenged.
"If we were attractive, we wouldn't be looking for our girlfriends, and we certainly wouldn't find them caressing and flirting with the Mobians over there at the bar."
The Ultimate Life Form had a point. And oh, how his friends wanted to kill him for making it.
"Silver?" Knuckles asked the white hedgehog who was gaping at his 'perfect' girlfriend.
Blaze was staring at the brown hedgehog with an expression akin to love struck. It was as if the brown hedgehog was the first male she'd seen in decades, and boy, was he like a drink of water in the desert to her.
Silver just pointed to the feline. "Please tell me that's not Blaze…"
"Only if you prove that's not Sarah," Sonic growled.
"Enough of this," Scourge interrupted the two. "I'll just go over and drag 'em away from those twits."
They watched the brave soldier walk into the crossfire. Scourge marched right up to Fiona and cleared his throat. Instantly, the fox blinked at him.
"Hey, Scourge…How's it going?" She hiccupped, making Scourge glance down at the cup.
He whacked it out of her hands. "You know you can't drink! You're pregnant!"
"Whoa, easy, man," the red hedgehog put his hands out. "She was hiccupping so I gave her a glass of water."
"Water my ass," Scourge growled at the cup and spilling liquid on the ground.
"Seriously, I already knew she was pregnant."
Fiona gasped and held her stomach. "You did?! Am I really that noticeable?" She looked down at her stomach before wailing. "I'M SO FAT!"
"It wasn't that!" the red hedgehog tried to calm her down but was busy trying not to be intimidated by her fuming mate. "I swear! You're not fat! You're beautiful!"
Scourge growled. "You better watch your words, boy."
"I mean, pretty! Well, I mean beautiful but not in the interested way! I don't want to hurt your feelings by saying that! Agh!"
Fiona just kept crying.
~.~
The boys continued to watch the display Scourge had unavoidably created. Fiona was bawling her eyes out, Scourge was clenching his fists tighter by the second, and the red hedgehog was trying to calm both of them down.
Sonic smacked his lips, suddenly uninterested in the fact that Sarah and Blaze were still flirting with the brown hedgehog, completely ignorant to what was happening behind them on the other side of the bar.
"Well…He handled that well."
"Something tells me we're in for a long day back to the hotel."
I'm baaaaack.
