Chapter Eleven:

Beach Catastrophe

"Roses or tulips?"

"Hm…Tulips. Roses seem a little cliché, don't you think?"

"Rouge is going for baby's breath."

Amy gave Sarah a weird look. "Wait, what? Rouge wants babies to breathe on random flowers at her weddings?"

The lime green hedgehog next to her, strolling barefoot in the sand while the waves swept in and out, merely laughed. "No, Amy. Baby's breath is a type of flower. Should've told her I'm allergic to it, dammit…"

Amy blinked at her curiously, "Seriously?"

"No, not really," Sarah gave her a lazy cat grin smile. "So, what now?" she glanced at the moon and then to the city, which was still bustling with cars—as if East Mobius never slept.

Amy shrugged and kicked up some sand. "I don't know. It's a nice night though…"

"Sure is…"

The waves continued to roll in gently and sweep back out. The sand was cold to Amy's feet at first, but she adjusted to the temperature. The pink hedgehog came to a stop and swung her arms softly before collapsing in the sand and spreading her arms and legs.

Sarah turned at the sudden movement and put her hand to her chest while batting her eyelashes. "I didn't think you moved that fast, Rose."

Amy stuck her tongue out and moved her arms and legs. "Look. It's a sand angel!"

"Congrats," Sarah sarcastically responded while sitting down beside Amy like a normal being. She brought her knees up to her chest as Amy rested on her elbows.

Together, the two watched the little waves appear and disappear, crashing down. Amy sighed through her nose happily at the beautiful scenery. "It sure is beautiful…makes me wanna stay in East Mobius forever."

Sarah glanced at her. "What do you plan on doing when we get back to West Mobius?"

"I don't know," Amy shrugged and laid down, her quills messing up the sand more than the movement messing up the quills. "Probably work for the bakery still. It's all I'll ever do, you know. Just in case Eggman shows up, though, so I can join Sonic and the others and kick his butt."

Sarah lightly smiled. "Yeah…Do you think any of you will ever stop and…settle down?"

Taken by surprise, the pink companion lifted herself up and stared at Sarah softly but questioningly. "Are…Are you wanting Sonic to settle down?"

"What?" Brown eyes looked at her with an emotion akin to shock, "No, of course not, Amy. I'm just saying…" she wiggled her toes in the sand while her fingers ran over her legs subconsciously, "don't you guys get bored of beating Eggman?"

"Someone has to do it," Amy shrugged.

"True, but…" Sarah sighed and closed her eyes before reopening them. "Will it always be like this? Why doesn't Sonic just finish Eggman?"

Amy waited for a moment to answer, thinking about the question and thinking about who it was posed to. Sonic would never hurt a fly—okay, maybe he would if it annoyed him enough. But he certainly wouldn't kill. Definitely not Eggman because that would ruin all the fun—if Sonic lost Eggman, he would have nothing to do in the world besides…run.

"It's a…difficult relationship to understand," Amy said. "And…well…" she looked at Sarah calmly, "…You would have had to know both of them before asking that question. Sonic would lose competition and he wouldn't have anything to do during the day—he's been everywhere already by his running. Eggman probably wouldn't care if Sonic was out of the picture. He would go on to rule the world."

Sarah frowned. "So, Sonic's just…toying with Eggman? I mean, he wins all the time. You would think Eggman would give up or Sonic would finish him off or put him in jail."

"Neither of them are really like that, though…"

Sarah met Amy's eye contact and they stared at each other for a moment. "You're right."

Suddenly, both of their visions went dark. Amy gasped as hands clasped around her neck and a black bag went over her head. She breathed heavily at first, trying to catch both her breath and sanity. She didn't want to go into shock so easily.

"AH!"

"Sarah!" Amy wiggled around on the beach floor with the intruder.

"Stop fighting," a male voice growled and Amy was suddenly whacked upside the head. Her vision blurred, or it might've been just the bag, but the moon's outline was fading. "Dan, Zach, get the other girl. Vince, come over here and help."

"Marty and Lenny still better be keeping watch," a familiar voice gruffly stated. "We don't need the police catching us. Let's just get the girls and take them back to the boss."

"Fine by me," the one holding Amy said.

The pink hedgehog fidgeted but she was soon tossed over a square, large shoulder. She grunted and kicked at the chest, but hands held her ankles and squeezed so roughly it hurt. Amy wailed and she hung limp over the shoulder, suddenly realizing something.

Sarah!

Seeing as Sarah would've fought back, Amy figured whoever had hold of her knocked her out. It was only logical. The rose female was a little insulted they didn't find the need to knock her out too. It would've made the ride a lot more pleasant.

I know their voices though…

Amy tried to think but she was too drowsy—giving up the fight. Instead, she only wished she was back at her hotel room and still asleep in Shadow's arms.

Then none of this would be happening.

Well, Amy might know the voices, but the audience should know the names. ;)
