Chapter Twelve:
Get Me a Pillow!
Shadow had figured that when he would awake, his lovely girlfriend would be in his arms.
Sadly, he figured completely and utterly wrong because Amy wasn't there. Red eyes searched the room from their bed, but found no pink hedgehog in sight. Shadow twisted his head to Sonic and Sarah's bed, only to find it holding one male, blue, annoying hedgehog who was still sound asleep and thankfully not sleep walking.
"Amy?" Shadow softly called but there was no reply.
His bare feet touched the floor softly before he got up and headed to the bathroom door to see if it was shut. It was open, and the lights were off.
Shadow put his hands on his hips, scoured their hotel room once more from his position, and finally frowned at the realization that his precious flower was gone.
Perhaps she went down to breakfast early. She could've gotten a text from Rouge for wedding plans. It seems logical enough, there's no reason to freak out and call a search party yet.
With that, the ebony hedgehog collected himself and went to get ready for the day.
He started with whacking Sonic upside the head.
~~~.~~~
Shadow knew something was up when he saw Rouge eating with Knuckles and no one else.
He walked to their shared table and sat beside the bat while Knuckles merely ate his grapes. Rouge looked up from her blueberry muffin. "Hey, where's Amy?"
"I thought she was with you or something…Frankly, though, Sarah hasn't turned up either," Shadow answered with narrowed eyes. "Sonic went looking for them around the hotel."
"Speak of the devil," Knuckles said as he looked up and pointed towards the doorway of the breakfast lounge. "There he is now," the echidna popped another grape into his mouth.
Shadow looked in the direction the male pointed to and frowned at the empty-handed Sonic. The blue hedgehog zoomed up to them and opened his mouth but stopped. There was nothing he could say. It was obvious the girls went missing. But how and why were the questions.
Shadow glared at the table as the rest of the group slowly came to the table. Scourge stood behind Shadow, Fiona at his side, "Something wrong?"
Shadow turned around and stared at his friends. "Have any of you seen Amy or Sarah since last night?"
"Sonic, breathe," Rouge cooed—something a little out of character for her. She patted the hero's back. "Shadow will find them and you can join him when you stop hyperventilating."
Sonic was resting against the lobby wall, breathing in heavily and coughing spit out. "Where would they go?" he panted—a first for him. "She wouldn't just leave me, would she?" he sadly pouted at Rouge.
The ivory bat shook her head and matched his position. "No, hon. Sarah…Something must've happened. Maybe they went for a walk and got lost or something."
Sonic swallowed and finally caught his breath. At this time, Scourge walked up with Silver and put his hands on his hips. "They aren't in the swimming pool or the gym room. They aren't in any of the floors of the hotel either or the lobby."
Silver nodded and held out his hands. "They're just not here. They probably went to the beach for a midnight stroll. It seems like something they would do."
Rouge brightened up at that. "Yeah! That must be it!"
"Is this…how you felt when…we went missing…in the mountains?" Sonic was back to hyperventilating or whatever the hell he was doing. He crouched lower to the ground with wide, frightened eyes. "What if something happened to them? Something bad?"
"Sonic," Silver held his shoulder. "This isn't you. Sarah and Amy can't be found with you moping. Shadow and Knuckles are doing the best they can. They've started looking outside the hotel, but we've got a lot of ground to cover. Why don't you stay here in case they come back? Just watch out for them in the lobby, understand? Scourge and I will meet up with Shadow and Knuckles. Rouge, can you watch him?"
As the two males were already turning away, leaving Rouge with the so-called hero, the female blankly stared at them and rolled her eyes hopelessly. "That's what I've been doing so far."
"GIVE ME A PILLOW!" Sonic wailed as he clutched his arms together. "I want a pillow!"
Silver watched in amusement while Rouge hurried off to fetch the hedgehog a pillow. He prayed she would have it easier than the search party.
~~~.~~~
While Rouge hurried off for the pillow, Sonic watched calmly as Silver and Scourge left. He stood up, acting as if he never hyperventilated.
Worry glazed over his eyes as he scanned the lobby. There were Mobians here and there and the Mobian at the desk. But there was no Sarah or Amy. He frowned.
Where are they?
A bright hue of blue caught his eye. Sonic twisted his head to the gym door to watch the familiar blue echidna walk out of the gym.
What was his name again? I think Amy said his name was Vincent or something. Maybe Vince.
The echidna glanced around before walking further alone the hallway and slipping into a 'WORKERS ONLY' room. Sonic raised an eyebrow at the luck and the situation.
Well, that's not suspicious.
The blue hedgehog followed, watching the Mobians around him to make sure none of them saw him venture into a closed off area. He opened the door without a problem though, surprised there was no key card to get into the room.
He slipped in between the doorway and the door, allowing a small pinch of light to shine through before he shut the door. Everything was dark and he had his senses one second.
THUD.
"Sorry, Blue."
The next second, his senses were out and he was unconscious.
Not to mention everything was still dark.
"I'm getting a little worried," Silver confessed as he and Scourge scoured the beach, in hopes that Amy and Sarah would magically be there. "They're nowhere to be found—Sonic hasn't called to say they're back at the hotel. Something's wrong."
Scourge only nodded in agreement.
Something was definitely off.
"Maybe we're just not seeing them. Maybe they're trying to find us."
Scourge shook his head. "They would've called us a billion times and chewed us out. Silver, I've got a small hunch…"
The white hedgehog glanced at Scourge, tired of the beach scenery already. "What is it?"
Blue eyes looked at him with concern. "I think they were kidnapped."
~~~.~~~
"It doesn't make sense," Knuckles said as Shadow hung up his phone. "There's no way that Amy would allow herself to get kidnapped…Then again, Eggman's done it loads of times…"
"It's possible," Shadow growled, gripping his phone while looking at the tons of skyscrapers and tall hotels. "And if it's true…When I find whoever is responsible for this, they're going to wish they were never born."
Knuckles sighed, looking at the cement before his phone rang. He answered it quickly. "Hello?"
Shadow was too busy looking around, searching for any sign of pink.
But there was none.
"Rouge? Slow down, what's wrong?"
Shadow turned to him quickly and the echidna's purple eyes looked up at him, coated in worry. Knuckles slowly swallowed. "We'll meet everyone back up at the hotel…"
"What is it?" Shadow asked as he hung up.
Knuckles licked his lips and put his hands on his hips. "Sonic's missing now, too."
Shadow raised an eyebrow. "Then something is definitely wrong…There's no way Sonic would allow himself to be kidnapped. Someone's being smart with us."
"That's not everything, though."
The ebony hedgehog waited anxiously while Knuckles paused. "What?"
"Um…" Knuckles rubbed his eyes. "You can't tell Scourge. He'll panic."
An idea hit Shadow in the head. A wicked one that he hoped wasn't true and that he hoped Knuckles wasn't about to tell him. "Fiona?"
"She and Sonia were supposed to be in the gym asking for Sarah and Amy. They're gone, too, Shadow."
The Ultimate Life Form was for once speechless. Knuckles gulped a little, intimidated of their sudden rival because even they got Sonic.
"They're picking us off one by one."
Dun. Dun. DUNNNNNN!
I just love wickedness, I don't know why. Expect it next chapter. :D
