Beast Boy blinked open his eyes. The harsh white light that cut into his eyes blinded him for a moment. Where am I? What happened? And why does my head hurt like hell? His mind felt like it was everywhere, and trying to focus it was painful. He desperately tried to grasp onto some sense of where he was at, but clarification eluded him.

"Ugh… I feel horrible." He groaned. The changeling looked around groggily. When his eyes finally adapted he noticed that he was in the sick bay. How did he get here? Last time he was awake he knew he was out in the forest with… Raven? RAVEN! The gray sorceress had just… Killed him right? So why was he here and not dead. It made nearly no sense. He didn't even want to live anymore.

Beast Boy sat up but remained in the bed. A sharp jab in his chest reminded the changeling of his injury and he flinched, provoking another jab. Beast Boy glanced at his bandaged chest and sighed as he thought of Raven. Was that truly her back then? It didn't seem like it.

But did the green changeling even care about her anymore? She had stabbed him and rejected his offer of coming with so that he could be with her. He thought back to that dark moment. There was no red eyes, sharpened teeth or shadow tentacles that showed signs of possession or anger, or had she just learned to hide those?

But something must have been wrong with her, she wouldn't act like that normally. He had been so hopeless but when looking back on it. She had a near 180 mood turn, it was like her whole mood and personality switched. Which even for a half-demon wouldn't be normal. Maybe she hadn't meant the stuff she said?

There was only one way to find out. He had to find her; he had to bring her back! If he couldn't he would ask her if she really meant what she said… It was a lame excuse for him to keep on living but it was his only one, if he couldn't at least do this for her he wasn't worthy of anything other than what Raven had said about him.

He brushed through his short green hair with his hand, oh what a situation they were in. To some it wouldn't seem as bad as when the world ended and Raven was seemingly dead, but to him it might as well be. He spent a few more moments deep in thought before he noticed that someone was standing there. Beast Boy looked up to see Cyborg standing there with a worried expression on his face.

"You really took a beating out in that forest, what happened?" Cyborg asked, wasting no time with greetings or jokes. This was serious.

"I don't want to talk about it Cyborg." Beast Boy murmured. He looked downward and heard a large sigh from the metal man.

"Come on Beast Boy, you gotta tell us sometime. What about Raven? She wasn't there when Star found you."

"We were too late…" muttered Beast Boy.

"Too late for what?" Cyborg snapped. Irritation nipped away at Beast Boy, who just wanted to be left alone.

"What do you think Cyborg? What do you think! Raven left, I was too late!" Beast Boy yelled in anger at the metal man. To say that Cyborg was startled was an understatement, the shock showed completely on his features. Beast Boy had snapped, all of the anger that had been locked up inside at the situation was pumping through his veins, and he couldn't take it.

"Yo, BB, calm down," Cyborg said calmly. Beast Boy glared at Cyborg, he tried to get up quickly but yelped in pain and fell back down on his bed. He couldn't go anywhere like this! "Now what do you mean she left? Did she betray us?"

Beast Boy stared back at Cyborg and had a guarded look to his eyes. The green changeling didn't make a single noise, not a single movement. The two stared at each other, their gazes locked as their wills battled. Eventually Cyborg sighed and turned his head away.

"Ya know that Robin is going to pester you for it sooner or later, don't be surprised if he takes no for an answer." Cyborg left the room. Beast Boy frowned when he realized that Cyborg hadn't even checked his injuries, it was painful and Cyborg probably wouldn't be back in for several hours at least. Beast Boy moaned and just layed on the bed, dozing off. He admitted that he was still tired from nearly being killed and the pain itself threatened to finish off the job. He closed his eyes and the pain disappeared.

There was fire, endless fire. The ground was black and burnt. Lava flowed everywhere, there was no water, no life… Frozen statues dotted the smoldering remains of the city. Captured in the end of time and frozen there endlessly.

The titans tower was broken up, made into a makeshift throne. A large red-skinned demon sat there, power emanating from him evilly. His dark magnificence would stun any living onlookers. His eyes glowed blood red and glittered soullessly. His horns crowned his head, giving him a royal look. The epitome of evil.

In front of Beast Boy stood a gray skinned girl who silently sobbed. She stared at him with violet eyes from underneath a white hood. She was just a small child, her words were haunting and hopeless.

"Help me Beast Boy please! Help me from my daddy!" cried the little girl, she glanced back to her father with despair and turned back to Beast Boy and let a heartrending shriek. Beast Boy realized that this was Raven, she was just like the small version of herself they had met when Trigon had tried invading.

Beast Boy lunged forward, trying to grab Raven. However it seemed the closer he tried to get the farther she became. Her eyes only grew wider and she started letting out desperate pleas, pleas that ripped open his heart trying to answer.

NO… Raven!"

The girl closed her eyes and disappeared into black smoke. Cruel, dark laughing boomed around him. The smoke drifted over to him and wrapped itself around him as everything around him grew dark, her soft lavender scent filled his nose.

Then color flashed back into his view, there was vicious red flames in the shape of hands lashing out at him. Beast Boy screamed and narrowly dodged them, it was futile though, and several burns grew across his green skin. Agony drove him to scream again, however none of it was worse than the knowledge that he had failed Raven again, in another crucial moment. He couldn't protect her from having to sacrifice herself, now he wasn't able to prevent her from turning to the dark side.

A dark shape now stood in front of him, in contrast to the previous girl this one was in a black cloak that was fringed with shadows. This one was also a few inches taller than Beast Boy and instead of pretty purple amethyst eyes they were hellish red. An ugly sneer joined her anger-contorted features.

"Well Beast Boy? How does it feel to fail for a second time? I made the mistake of trusting you and you couldn't help me once! Not once! What a pathetic mortal you are, not even being able to save the girl yo so desperately love." Raven snarled. Then she laughed, it was the most disgusting laugh he had ever heard come out of her mouth. It was edged with Trigon's demonic voice and filled with malice. Beast Boy flinched.

It was then that the green changeling noticed the white bone dagger she had gripped in her right hand. With a sickening smile she raised it and charged at him, and in his guilt he couldn't move. He felt the dagger plunge straight through his throat and blood would gush out profusely. But this pain was still nothing to the pain he felt for Raven.

The world grew dark around him again and he felt pain all throughout his body. The dark laughter rang in his ears. Raven… I am so sorry…

Beast Boy woke up, with cold sweat drenching his body. He clenched his fists and vowed that he would find her, and bring her back.

Even if he had to journey into hell itself, all for his dark little Raven.
