Rule# 10 "It only useful if it's used."

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry," he panted. "I just wanted to surprise you!"

"Well, for the record I hate surprises!" She shouted back as they sprinted away. "And what did I tell you about messing with gangs?"

"I didn't know they were a gang," he protested. "I thought they were just friends!"

"It's like I never taught you anything," she moaned.

It took them almost an hour to shake their tale and disappear to a safe place.

They slumped against the alley wall trying not to breathe the dank air too heavily. A soft glow lit the dim tunnel and she turned to see him playing with his new toy, a wrist mounted sling shot he'd cobbled together from bits and pieces.

"Ah, ya know what? I probably could have used this against them." He scratched his head not noticing how she had stiffened in surprise at his words. "HA! Told you it's be useful!"

"Useful?" she growled. "You didn't use it at all! How is that useful? Haven't I taught you anything?! What good is it now? You should have used it back when they were chasing us!"

He stared at her, a mix of surprise and hurt on his face and she sighed, inhaling slowly to gain control of her anger.

"New rule: it's only useful if it's used. So use it next time, or lose it, ok?"

He nodded. "Got it."

A thought occurred to him and he looked at her, chewing his lip.

"Do you just make these up?"
