Now that I finally am free, I have time to write!
After Loki was incapacitated and restrained, Stark offered the victory treat of shawarma. Titian and I tagged along since it sounded delicious. The others must have been very tired since they didn't object.
Once we were in the shawarma place, Thor, Titian and I started eating. I ended up eating a lot of shawarma since the others surprisingly didn't like it. We had dragged Loki with us and he seemed very awkward during our meal, almost as if he didn't want to be there.
We were almost finished when suddenly we were summoned. We came back to the gigantic flying menace much to my horror and we were half-way entering, when a bunch of agents held Titian and me at gun point. I guess it was expected of them to sooner or later attack us, but come on!
"State your name and show your identification." Titian and I tensed up, ready to attack or flee at a moment's notice, but were actually surprised to not having to do either when Fury appeared from thin air.
"That's not going to be necessary. You two, follow me."
I looked at Titian and he shrugged. We both followed him.
We ended up in a mostly bare room. It looked like any other one in this hellhole and Fury closed the door behind us. Titian and I just stood in one side of the room while Fury scanned us with his good eye.
"I don't know where you came from, who you are or the motive behind all what you did and I hate not knowing." We kept quiet, not knowing where he was going with this.
"You have shown powers that could very well mean a threat but instead used them to help save the world with the Avengers." Finally, a name for the mismatched group. "That doesn't mean you're to be trusted, but it does mean that you have fight on you. And that's just the kind of thing we may need right now."
Fury looked at us even more intensely than before and I couldn't help fidgeting under his gaze. He made me just the tiniest bit queasy, but I would never admit that to anyone.
"What I'm trying to say is in S.H.I.E.L.D we look for people that are not afraid to take on a rough fight. So I would like to offer you both a place in S.H.I.E.L.D. as agents."
I blinked and even if Titian didn't show any reaction at all, I could tell he was intrigued.
"We'll think on it."
Fury nodded. "Think about it, you'll have until the end of the week to give me your response." Then he turned and walked away.
Now that we were finally alone, I could finally talk to Titian in our native demon tongue.
'I want to be an agent.'
He raised his eyebrow.
'I think it gives me something to do other than just play music and work.'
He didn't say anything for a while. 'Then take it if you really want to.'
I nodded at him knowing he was trying to be supportive in his own way. 'And you?'
'I'm not yet ready to choose.'
Then we walked out of the room in separate ways, I wanting to know more about what 'shield' really was and Titian off to who knows where.
Line Break
Titian was standing at the edge of the ship's top when Natasha came up to him.
"Few people can stand being up here."
He didn't even turn around. "I'm used to heights. The air is too thin, must be difficult to breathe."
"I'm Russian, this is nothing."
They stared in silence at the clouds passing by them. For neither was it a new sight.
"I heard Fury offered you a job here."
Silence.
"He doesn't offer that to anyone he doesn't think has it on them to do what it takes. He…"
"Why you work for him?"
She looked at him, sizing him up. If he noticed, he didn't say anything. "Because it's better than my past jobs."
I found out there was a shawarma joint near my house! Haven't tried it yet, but I will. Eventually. Some day.
