Infirmary

Raven is sitting next to Anna, who is hooked up to the medical equipment. She brought some books from her room so she can try to find a way to save her.

After the incident in the restaurant, she came back and told the others what happened. She tells that that Slade attacked them, he poisoned Anna, and if she doesn't become the portal then she will die.

Cyborg took some of her blood to analyze the poison and find a cure for it. However, despite all the best medical and scientific equipment they had, they couldn't identify the poison.

Raven used some spells she found to help slow the poison down, but it wasn't enough to get rid of it. Robin went on the computer to find out anything about the vial that was used on their friend, but he couldn't find anything.

They have been working for hours trying to find any way to their friend, but they couldn't find anything. Raven checked the time and she sees they have 20-hours to go before the poison kills Anna. She knew she didn't have much time before she makes her choice. To either become the portal or let her girlfriend die to keep the world safe.

She knew if she chose to become the portal, Anna will be saved, but she'll be killed by her father. If she doesn't become the portal she will die, but the world will be saved.

She knew what she had to do, but it wouldn't be worth it if she lets Anna die. She knew if she did where she will go and that's not an option.

She hears her girlfriend coughing up blood. She uses a napkin to wipe the blood from her mouth and daps a wet cloth over her forehead to wipe away the sweat.

She grabs Anna's hand and holds it close to her. She stares at her worried that she is going to lose her. She can feel tears forming in her eyes as she tries wiping them away. All of this pain Anna is going through and it's all her fault.

Why can't I ever find happiness? She thought angrily that no matter what she something comes around to ruin everything. It doesn't matter what choice I make. Whatever I make Anna will lose and I'll be alone.

She looks down at her amulet and sighed. "What would Anna do at a time like this?"

She'd tell you not to do what we think you're going to do. Raven recognized the voice and sighed in annoyance.

Raven closed her eyes and begins to meditate. In just moments she opens her eyes and is inside her mind. She looks around and sees her emotions nearby, with the exception of Rage who is locked up in another part of the mind. She looks over and sees her Happy emotion run up to her and gives her a bone-crushing hug.

"We are so glad you came back!" said Happy as she continues hugging Raven. "We're so sorry your date got ruined, but we're here for you if you need our help with anything."

"Let…me…go…" was all Raven could muster as her face turns blue due to lack of oxygen.

Happy realized what she is doing and releases her. "Sorry."

Knowledge walks over and helps Raven up. "We're glad you're here, we wanted to talk to you for some time, but you've always been busy..."

She is interrupted by Laziness. "Getting it on with Anna all night long."

Knowledge narrow her eyes towards Laziness. "Why don't you go bother Sloth?"

"Whatever," Laziness walked towards Sloth, who is sleeping nearby.

"Sorry about that," Knowledge apologized. "But, we want to help you. We don't want you making a mistake by accepting Slade's deal."

"She's right," said Brave as she jumps between the girls. "I say we go find that one-eyed freak, kick his ass, and get that antidote!"

"O-or maybe ask him nicely?" Timid asked.

"That's stupid!" Laziness shouted nearby.

Raven interrupts her emotions. "Look, I understand your concerns, but we both know what will happen if we let Anna die. She'll end up in hell. I don't want that to happen to her and neither does any of us. That is why the only solution I can come up with is becoming the portal."

"But Raven, that means she will be killed by Trigon," said Timid who didn't like that plan.

"And even if she doesn't, it doesn't mean she will be able to stop him," said Knowledge as she fixes her glasses. "The odds of her beating him is as much as Beastboy one day cleaning that pigsty of a room."

"I like Beastboy," said Happiness getting the attention of the others. "What? He's got cute pointy ears and he's funny."

Raven moves on from that topic. "Anyways, I was thinking of leaving her a message so she can go to my home world of Azarath. Maybe she'll find something there that can stop him and she'll be safe."

"She won't leave," the girls turn around and see Love walking towards them. "She loves you Raven and if you do this she'll be hurt."

"But she'll be alive," said Raven as she continues arguing with her emotions. "I love her and I know doing this will make her hate me, but as long as she's alive I won't care."

Love sighed and knew there was no talking her out of this. "What about your friends? What will you do for them?"

"I'll figure it out," Raven uses her powers and leaves her mind as she returns back to the infirmary. She looks over and sees Anna's condition hasn't changed. "I will save you, no matter what."

She then hears a phone ringing by Anna's purse. The same purse Starfire got her so she could carry her belongings. She hated the purse, but she found it to be useful. At least to hide her weapons.

Raven opens the purse and finds a cell phone inside. She looks on the screen that says 'Rose'. This made her frown wondering who this girl is and how she knows Anna. She then shook off her jealousy knowing now was not the time to think like that.

So she answers the phone. "Hello?"

"Anna?" a young woman answered. "Who is this? Where is Anna? If you hurt my friend I will hunt you down and kill you. I will rip your head off and use it as a soccer ball for…"

"I didn't hurt Anna," said Raven interrupting the woman while starting at her girlfriend. "My name is Raven. Who is this?"

"Oh, so your Anna's girlfriend," the woman replied. "Sorry about that. The name is Rose and I need to talk to Anna so put her on the phone."

"I can't," Raven answered as she tries to explain what happened. "She was attacked by a man named Slade and is injured. I don't know what he did to her, but she has been poisoned."

There was a moment of silent from Rose, before she answered back. "How is her condition?"

Raven checks her friend's temperature and her breathing. "Her temperature is slowly heating up and her breathing is currently stabled. I used my powers to slow the poison down. By the way how do you know about Anna? Are you one of the girls she had sex with?"

Raven mentally snaps at herself for asking this girl that question. It's not only rude, but not a good time to start questioning her.

"We're best friends and we did have sex, but it didn't go into anything serious. So you can rest that pretty little head of yours," Rose answered with a small snicker. "From what Anna told me, she is crazy about you. She says you are beautiful and when your alone you make cute little noises."

Raven's face turns as red as a tomato. "Um thank you?"

"You're welcome," Rose's tone then changes to a serious one. "Listen, Anna despite not being an Angel has a healing factor. That means even if she is poisoned she can recover from it. However, from what I heard from a friend of mine my d-…Slade must have found out her secret. Whatever he found must be capable of harming an Angel."

"I'm betting my father had a hand in that," said Raven angrily before calming down. "What can we do?"

"Check on Anna's phone and it should have a number that belongs to a guy named, Jimmy," Rose replied. "Call him, describe the vial, and he might have a cure for our friend."

"OK, thank you so much," Raven replied relieved that there might be a way to save her girlfriend. "Just one more question: What else did Anna say about me?"

"That she is happy to have met you and would save you no matter what," Rose answered smiling on the other side. "Did that help?"

Raven nods. "Thank you Rose and I hope we can meet one day."

Rose laughs a little. "One day, if the world hasn't gotten to hell. Good luck Raven."

Raven hangs up the phone and looks for Jimmy's number. Once she finds it she begins to call for him.

"Hello?" a young man answered. "Anna? What's up?"

"My name is Raven," she turns towards Anna who begins coughing. "And I need your help."

Meanwhile

Robin is going over the data Cyborg printed out about the poison that is in Anna. Despite the best technology the Titans have, it's not enough to save their friend. They couldn't identify the poison or why it only affected Anna, and not their friend Raven. And how every simulation they made with the medicines against the poison ended up failing.

"Have you tried testing it again?" Starfire asked floating around concerned.

"I tested it ten times," Cyborg answered showing his frustration like how the others feel. "I'm telling you nothing will work. At this rate Anna's health will continue to decline until…"

Cyborg didn't need to tell the others what will happen to Anna. They all knew it and it's not looking good.

"How is Raven taking it?" Beastboy asked towards Robin.

Robin sighed. "Like all of us. I can tell those two have a strong bond. That's why we need to find a way to save Anna. We can't let Slade and Trigon win."

Starfire nods in agreement knowing also why the two girls have a strong bond. She wanted to tell the others the truth, but she knew now was not the time.

"Yeah, but why didn't Slade make his move before until now?" Beastboy asked curious to know why the masked villain waited a month to come back.

Robin then realized something. "The prophecy must be coming soon. If Trigon had Slade attack Anna, then it means they need Raven soon to open the portal."

Cyborg goes to the computer and noticed that tomorrow is when the planets are aligning. "Tomorrow looks like a possibility of all of this going down. We'll need to be ready."

"And save Anna," added Starfire.

"We will," Robin turns towards Cyborg. "Get all the weapons that Anna helped us make ready. We'll need them to protect the tower to keep Slade out."

"Got it," Cyborg replied. "There ain't no way we're letting Slade get in our home."

Robin turns towards Beastboy and Starfire. "Get the room ready for Raven to go in. If Slade breaks in we'll need to keep her somewhere safe."

"What about Anna?" Beastboy asked. "What if we don't find the cure by then, what do we do about protecting her?"

"I'll put up the spell tags that she made," Robin replied. "We'll use them to protect her and by then we should have the cure."

Vatican

Raven finished telling Jimmy everything that happened. How Slade attacked Anna with some sort of vial that poisoned her and how if she doesn't become the portal, then her friend will die. She described the vial and the writing on it. After searching for ten minutes he managed to find the book that contained the different kinds of vials used in ancient times.

"The vial you described is called 'Mortem in Lucem'," Jimmy answered as he reads from the book.

"It's Latin for, 'Death of Light'. It was made by a Demon long ago to help kill an Angel that comes to Earth. Anna probably told you that despite being in human form she has a healing factor. However, the poison made from the Demon takes away her healing ability and begins slowly killing her."

"Why didn't anyone warn her something like this existed?" Raven asked.

"Because all traces of the vials were destroyed during the Crusades," Jimmy replied as he flips the pages. "Now, according to the book the only way to cure Anna is another vial that a priest hid after the Demon made his vial. However, it was lost during the Crusades so that's out."

"Please tell me there is another way to save her," Raven pleaded. "I don't want her to die and be send…I just can't."

Jimmy sighed and knew he didn't want his friend to die either. "I'll keep looking and if I find anything I'll call you."

"Thank you Jimmy," said Raven before hanging up the phone.

Jimmy puts the hone down and begins going through the books to find a way to save his friend. He looks at the clock and knows he doesn't have much time before Raven makes her choice. He just hopes she doesn't make a bad one. If she does then all of this would be for nothing.

"I better tell the Pope about this," he said as he puts the books down and heads out the room. "Maybe he might know a way to save her."

Titan's Tower

Raven puts the phone down and turns towards her girlfriend. She begins thinking back about what her emotions told her and about what she might have to do.

She has to wait to see if Jimmy can find anything to help save Anna, but if he doesn't then she'll have to do what she has to do. It's not a good decision, but it's better than the alternative.

"Raven," she turns around and sees Robin standing there. "How is she?"

Raven sighed and uses the wet cloth to wipe the sweat from Anna's forehead. "Her condition is the same. My spells are slowing the poison down, but it's not enough. Please tell me you guys found something."

Robin shook his head. "I'm sorry, we're trying everything we can to save her. We even checked through her books to find out anything."

"I did the same earlier," she said as she puts the cloth away. "It has more information than any of my other books, but it doesn't have anything about the poison. I feel useless."

"You're not and we'll save her," he said as he approaches her and placed his hand on her shoulder. "That's a promise."

She looks up at Robin and tries smiling. "Thank you, I know you're all doing your best to save her."

The two remain silent as they watch Anna together. "I'm sorry your date didn't go as you both planned."

Her expression changed to shock as she looks up at Robin. "Wh-what?"

"It's okay I know," he replied knowing about Anna and Raven together. "I saw you two kiss a week ago down in the garage."

"If you knew then why didn't you say anything?" she asked.

"I figured you would tell me when you're ready," he replied. "I wasn't going to force either one of you to tell me the truth."

She sighed in relief and is glad her friend is taking the news well. "So, you're okay with us being together?"

"At first it was weird, but then I got over it when I saw how happy she makes you," he grabs her hands and smiles. "That's all we care about Raven, is knowing you are happy with who you want to be with."

She wraps her arms around him and gives him a hugs. "Thank you so much and I'm glad you now know. I better tell Starfire."

"Starfire knew?" He then realized something. "Is that why she has been keeping me from seeing you two when you're alone?"

She nods. "Sorry, but I'll go tell her the truth."

"No," he then clears his voice. "I'll tell her. You stay here and keep an eye on Anna."

"Ooookay," she replied as she sits back down on the chair and tends to her girlfriend. "Robin, don't tell Beastboy or Cyborg. I can't imagine how those two will react."

Robin nods in agreement. "I promise."

Robin walks out of the room leaving Raven alone. She moves onto the bed and lies next to her. She moves her right arm over her girlfriend and kisses her on the cheek. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise.

Meanwhile

Deep in a dark cavern, Slade is kneeling down in front of four glowing demonic eyes.

"Everything has gone according to plan," said Slade. "By this time tomorrow Raven will become the portal. She will fulfill her destiny and you will be free."

"Good," Trigon replied. "Make sure nothing stands in our way and she does not back down on her deal."

"She'll want the antidote for her girlfriend," said Slade reminding Trigon of the deal. "If we don't hand it to her she won't go through with this."

Trigon knew Slade is right and so he uses his powers to hand Slade a small vial. "This will cure the angel of the poison, but it won't take full effect until after I am free."

"And after you're free you'll keep your end of the deal with me?" Slade asked.

"Once I am free you will have your reward," Trigon answered.

"I'm counting on it," said Slade as he takes the vial and gets ready for the preparations.

It looks like Raven is going to have no choice but to go through with being the portal. Robin knows about her and Anna being together, will the others know too? Will Jimmy find a way to save his friend? And what will happen if Raven does choose to be the portal?
