That morning flew by quickly. Sebastian watched as Ciel slipped off to the bathroom to get ready for work. He made his way out of the bedroom and into the kitchen to begin preparing a small breakfast for the two younger boys. He pulled out a carton of eggs, some tomatoes, green onions and a package of shredded cheese and began to make omelets. Eventually he heard Alois's door creak open and his small feet dragging across the floorboards lazily. He turned around to see the boy disheveled and rubbing the sleep away from his eyes. He stretched his arms upward and Sebastian caught a glimpse of his boney hips. He and Ciel were too thin, even for dancing the amount they did. Their bones stuck out and they looked frail and fragile. They most likely bruised easily, and bruises wouldn't go easily unnoticed thanks to their pale skin. Alois stopped stretching and directed his attention towards Sebastian who was still focused on his hips.
"You know, if you want to see, all you have to do is ask." Alois lifted his shirt up and Sebastian jumped forward to pull his shirt back down.
"No, no I'm sorry. I was just thinking, you and Ciel are so thin. It can't just be the dancing you both do that keeps you so tiny." Alois nodded and skipped into the kitchen to hoist himself up onto the counter.
"Yeah, we are small. We never really had much to eat when we were growing up, I guess our bodies just adjusted to the lack of food. We must have stopped growing as much with the little amount of nutrients we got from whatever food we could find laying around." Sebastian's eyes focused on the boy swinging his legs back and forth on the counter. He spoke as if whatever they had been through in their past was not big deal. He maintained a childish façade the whole time.
"Well, you have lots to eat now. I wouldn't mind seeing you guys put on a little weight. I always feel like I'm going to break one of you." Sebastian got back to cooking breakfast and Alois giggled.
"Right. We're small and everything, but we can take a lot. We're not going to snap. And what about you? I rarely ever see you eat anything and yet you stay toned and fit. You should be the skinny one." Sebastian smirked and sat the cooking utensil he was holding down on the counter. He turned around and watched as Alois patiently waited for a response of some kind.
"I eat all the time." Alois snorted and shook his head.
"Yeah right, like when?"
"Agni just made us dinner, and I ate it."
"Yeah, you had a small helping and a bunch of vegetables. That's all I've ever seen you eat is veggies. What are you, a fucking rabbit?" Sebastian chuckled a little and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Vegetables are good for you, they're a hell of a lot better than that crap you eat. With all of those sugars and salts and fats, you're lucky you don't have heart problems yet." Alois stuck his middle finger up at Sebastian and stuck his tongue out.
"Hey, you leave my junk foods alone." Sebastian returned the gesture only with both hands.
"Then you leave my vegetables alone." Alois climbed up on top of the counter and jumped forward at Sebastian. His legs wrapped around Sebastian's waist and he held on to his side tightly. Sebastian wobbled sideways and began to fall over, catching himself against the wall. Alois began to attempt climbing onto Sebastian's back and Sebastian began to run around the apartment.
"What the hell are you doing? You're crazy!" Alois screamed and clutched Sebastian as if his life depended on it.
"I'm the crazy one? You jumped on me!" Sebastian reached down and picked Alois up easily, holding him upside down and out in the air in front of him. Just as they were both about to start yelling at one another, they heard Ciel's door open. He was standing in the door way with a confused expression on his face. His eyes were huge and one eyebrow was quirked.
"The fuck is going on? Did I miss something?" Sebastian sat Alois down on the floor and the two looked at each other and began cracking up. Ciel stood there with the same look on his face and watched as they both made their way into the kitchen. Ciel shook his head and decided to forget about it. He walked into the kitchen as well and strode up behind Sebastian, wrapping his arms around the man's torso and squeezing gently. Sebastian glanced down and smiled as he saw the two small hands interlocked against his stomach. Ciel dared himself to squeeze a little harder. He could feel Sebastian's finely defined abdomen and his blood began to rush to his face.
'He's so much bigger that I am.' Ciel pictured what Sebastian's entire body would look like completely uncovered. He bit down on his lip imagining Sebastian's ivory skin and toned body. His thoughts were interrupted by Sebastian's warm hand on his. He released Sebastian from his hold and moved back, allowing Sebastian to place their food on the counter. Alois quickly grabbed a plate and scraped his omelet onto it. Sebastian sat a glass of orange juice in front of Alois and watched as the blond haired boy smiled brightly in appreciation. Sebastian returned the smile and looked back at Ciel who was placing his omelet onto his own plate as well. He took small bites compared to the mouthfuls Alois was scarfing down. Sebastian looked at the clock and noticed how late it was already.
"Don't you have work this morning?" Ciel looked up at Sebastian and then to the clock. His eyes widened quickly and he choked on his breakfast.
"Shit!" Without another word his small body took off for his room. When he returned he was attempting to pull on a jacket and slip on his shoes at the same time. He nearly stumbled over in the kitchen but Sebastian caught his arm and helped him adjust his jacket.
"I'm going to be late." Ciel pulled out a piece of bread from a plastic bag and tossed the rest of his omelet onto it folding it in half like a sandwich.
"Ciel why don't you just quit? You're overworked and underpaid. And your boss is a sick pig." Alois's words were almost hard to make out with his mouth stuffed full of food.
"Because, we hardly make enough money as it is. If I quit I'd have to wait around and go look for another job, which means we'd fall behind on rent."
"What do you mean your boss is a sick pig?" Ciel shook his head and began to turn around to walk out of the kitchen. Sebastian's hand quickly latched around his forearm and spun him back around.
"Tell me." Ciel stared at the ground and mumbled.
"He gets a little handsy sometimes with the staff. That's all. It's no big deal Sebastian." Sebastian's face became still and his eyes flickered with anger.
"Like hell it's not." He released Ciel's arm and took off for the boy's room, also returning holding a coat. His shoes were already on and he started walking towards the door.
"W-what are you doing?" Ciel sounded frantic and he dropped his food on the counter.
"I'm going to work with you. I'm not going to do anything drastic, until I have a sure reason to. But I'm not letting you get sexually harassed at work. It's not okay with me." Ciel was about to resist until he felt Alois's hand grab his. He looked at his friend who smiled at him sweetly.
"Let him go with you. It would make me feel better. He won't let anything bad happen to you." Ciel watched as Alois's eyes began to tear up a little bit. He tried to hold back his own tears and wrapped his arms around his friend's neck, hugging him tightly.
"Alright." Ciel pressed his forehead against Alois's and Alois smiled. He gently tapped his head against Ciel's and pushed him away gently.
"Now go on. You'll be late." Ciel nodded and began to walk out of the apartment.
"Wait!" Ciel held the door open and looked back inside.
"What! What is it?" Ciel looked at Alois.
"You gonna finish that?" Alois pointed to Ciel's unfinished breakfast and raised an eyebrow.
"Ugh." Ciel gave his friend a look and closed the door.
Sebastian led the way down the stairs and walked over to the driver's side of his car. Ciel stood on the sidewalk and stared at the vehicle on the street in awe.
"Come on. We're going to be late if we don't take this." Ciel nodded and walked closer to the door. Sebastian reached over and opened the door up for him. His small body slid into the seat and plopped against the cushioned chair. As Sebastian started the car up and closed his own door, Ciel's eyes scanned around the interior.
'This thing is amazing. I wonder how much it cost.' He leaned forward and stared at all of the dials and knobs in front of him. He pressed one and music began playing. He jumped a little and sat back in his chair. Sebastian smiled and chuckled at the boy and the amazed look on his face.
Sebastian remembered where the restaurant was and was there within a few minutes. When they pulled up to the lot, Sebastian waited for Ciel to get out. Ciel sat still and waited for Sebastian to move.
"Aren't you coming in with me?" Sebastian shook his head.
"No, I'll wait until you open. I don't want your boss knowing who I am, otherwise he might put on a good act while I'm around. I'll keep you in my sights while I'm out here though don't worry. I'll park in another lot too so that my car doesn't look suspicious and take up space. Ciel nodded and pushed the car door open. He wobbled a little after standing up and gently shoved the door shut. Sebastian drove off quickly and Ciel tried not to make it too obvious as he walked into the building. He was right on time and he flipped the sign over as he walked in. Tugging his jacket off, his friends all peered out from behind the counter and smiled at him.
"Well good morning! Someone's almost late. Did Sebastian keep you up past your bed time last night?" Grell poked fun at Ciel and Lizzie yelled at him and soon they started a screaming match. Ciel ignored them and walked back into the kitchen to hang his jacket up.
"Good morning Ciel." Agni smiled brightly and Ciel returned the kind gesture.
"Good morning, is the boss in?" Agni nodded and pointed at the door cracked open behind him. Ciel looked back and thought about what Sebastian might do if his boss actually tried anything. He shuddered and felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you alright?" Ciel's head snapped and he stared at Agni's hand.
"Yeah I'm just a little jumpy this morning I guess." He flashed a quick smile and began making preparations for the restaurant, weaving through tables and chairs making sure everything was set up already.
A few minutes passed by and people began to pour in through the door. They all quit their fooling around and began to act more professional around the customers. Ciel and Lizzie seated people and began taking drink orders. Ciel couldn't help but watch the door and wait for Sebastian to walk through.
"Ciel, hello? Ciel!" Ciel snapped out of his daze and looked at Grell who was standing next to a table a few feet from him.
"The boss wants you in his office." Ciel's heart sunk and Grell's eyes were filled with sympathy. Ciel had received that look on many occasions from each of his friends. He wasn't sure why his boss favored him. He assumed it was because his body was the most prepubescent looking. He nodded and turned away from his red headed friend. Making his way back to his boss's office he glanced back at the door one last time.
'Please Sebastian.' He sighed quietly and stepped inside, closing the door behind him. His boss was staring at some papers on his desk. The room smelled musty and needed a good wash down. Ciel looked around and saw crunched up paper thrown on the ground, along with empty food wrappers and a few pairs of pants and underwear lying on the tattered leather couch pushed up against the wall. The lighting was terrible, the single light bulb barely illuminating the room swung in a circular motion above the chipped wooden desk on the opposite side of the room. Ciel stood with his back against the door and waited for the greasy older man to recognize him. Finally his glossy eyes darted up and he waved Ciel forward. He moved as slow as he could and eventually found himself standing next to his boss.
"Yes sir?" Ciel's voice was calm and he tried to appear collected but inside he was terrified and disgusted by the man's existence.
"Sit down boy." Ciel reached for the arm of a chair behind him and the man cleared his throat.
"No no. Sit down." He patted his filthy stained lap and Ciel nodded, sitting down on the man's knee.
"There we go. I sure have missed your company." The man scanned Ciel's tiny body and he felt the dark brown eyes lingering on his bare skin. A hand came up to his face and he instinctively winced.
"Whoa calm down boy, I ain't gonna hurt you. I'll take care of ya." Ciel's heart began to beat fast and his eyes shut tightly when the man gripped his chin in his large hand. Ciel couldn't tell what was happening. He was waiting for the man to attack him with invasive kisses. When he opened his eyes he was sitting in the chair set up against the wall. He stared up at the tall body standing in front of him, as well as in front of his boss's chair. It was Sebastian, gripping the man's shirt tightly and hoisting him up out of his seat. The man looked terrified. Ciel couldn't hear anything, his only sense that seemed to be working at the moment was his sense of sight. Sebastian must have been muttering to the man, threats maybe because all the man could do was nod his head violently up and down. Ciel could see beads of sweat building up on his forehead underneath the dimmed light bulb. Sebastian threw the man down in his chair and turned around to grab Ciel's hand. Without realizing it, his feet were moving as fast as they could in order to keep up with Sebastian. They left the door open and Sebastian led Ciel towards the door after snatching his jacket up from the kitchen.
"Whoa, Sebastian! Where are you going with Ciel?" Lizzie shouted at Sebastian from behind the counter and Sebastian pushed the door open violently.
"Ciel's taking the day off. We talked to your boss already." He didn't bother to look at her and let the door swing shut.
Once they were a few feet down the sidewalk, Sebastian stopped and knelt down in front of Ciel, wrapping his jacket around him.
"Ciel, say something. Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" Sebastian scanned Ciel's arms and neck for any marks. Ciel's eyes were watering and a tear rolled down his cheek. Sebastian looked up at the glistening orbs and opened his mouth to ask him what was wrong but was cut off when Ciel's arms wrapped around his neck. He choked and inhaled raspy breaths of air. Sebastian's eyes closed and his heart sank to the pit of his stomach. He blamed himself for being so late.
"I'm so sorry I wasn't there in time." Ciel shook his head and buried his face against Sebastian's neck. He stayed there and had calmed down enough to eventually speak.
"I'm so glad you came in when you did. Please, take me home." Sebastian nodded and hoisted Ciel up into the air. He secured the jacket around him more and Ciel wrapped his tiny legs around Sebastian's waist. Heading down the street Sebastian could feel Ciel's warm breath on his neck. His face was damp with tears and he was still sniffling a little bit. The people on the street walking by paid little mind to the two men. Sebastian figured they assumed he was carrying a child. Ciel's body resembled that of a child, with his small frame and flawless features. He was sure to be gentle while holding Ciel and continuously made sure his jacket stayed wrapped around his body. He saw the lot he had parked in after a while. He picked up his pace and soon was back at his car. He reached for the handle and pulled the door open, leaning down to set Ciel in the passenger's seat. He knelt across the boy's lap and pulled his seatbelt over him and buckled it then shut the door. Making his way quickly to the driver's side, he took one last look at the restaurant and made himself a promise to come back and take care of the poor excuse of a man running the place.
"I know you want to go home. I'm going to stop by my place first and pick some things up for you guys, alright?" Ciel had remained silent the entire time and his eyes rolled up to stare at Sebastian.
"Your place?" Sebastian nodded and looked over to see Ciel's heavy eyelids still slightly damp and his nose a little red.
"I've always wanted to see where you lived." Sebastian smiled and diverted his attention back to the road.
"Well, now you get to."
