Adam didn't know what to think now that he was alone in the dark again, he felt bad that he couldn't be with Belle during this time. Belle did say that she would spend time with him, but...how sensitive he is to the light and considering how dark his room was, she wouldn't be able to see a thing. Also with knowing that his cousin, Sagittarius, was coming in ten days, Adam needed Belle's help to calm the servants down and make sure that they wouldn't be in such a rush.

Adam looked over at one of his large windows, that were now draped with very black curtains. He walked over to it and gently held the curtains, he was missing the warm feeling the sun gave him. He wanted to feel that again, but when he felt his reaction to the light when Lady Temps lit a match in front of him, he knew that it was going to be a serious reaction if he let the sun in. Adam wanted so desperately to remove the black curtains, he closed his glowing blue eyes as he tightened his grip on the curtain.

"Don't-even-think about it." said a female voice, Adam slowly opened his eyes.

"It didn't take you too long to come back." he said.

"You open those curtains and you'll be blind!" she said, Adam just turned around and looked straight at her.

"Mother, you don't have to act so protective of me. I already know what will happen if I do...I wasn't going to take a chance." Adam saw Lydia roll her eyes, "I saw that."

"Hmm, you're starting to see very well in the dark, my son." Lydia said, her hands were still holding the platter of breakfast that Belle brought, "I warmed this up for you. I thought you would want a hot breakfast."

"Thanks." Adam said as he took the platter from his mother. Lydia watched her son walking over to his armchair and placing the platter on his legs. She could sense how sad he was, she could feel her son's sadness coming off him.

"Talk to me, son." Lydia said as she sat across from him in a different chair. Adam had just started eating his breakfast. "What's wrong? If it's about what's happening, I can only blame myself."

"NO!" Adam quickly said, "No, it's not your fault."

"Yes, it is!" she said, "If I had told you in the first place, you wouldn't be in such shock."

"For heaven's sake, mother, it's not about that!" Lydia was surprised by her son's response, she wasn't expecting to hear answer in that certain tone of voice. Adam said it with such a tone that...he sounded just like she did when he was serious.

"Okay," she said calmly, "What is the problem?"

"I hate being apart from Belle." he basically said, Lydia still didn't know how to feel. Her son was in love with her best friend's daughter, she was going through what all mothers are going through when their sons fall in love with someone else. "Look, I already know that you don't like it." Adam added.

"What makes you think that?" Lydia asked, "I think you and Belle are a good match."

"Don't lie to me, mother." Adam said, "I already know that you aren't too happy about me being with someone else!"

"Adam, I'm going through what all mothers go through when their son is in love with someone else!" Lydia said, "I'll admit, I still see you as the nine-year-old I left you. You were in so much pain because of what that monster put us through and what do I do? I left you alone in this world...at nine years old!" She sniffled as she took out her tissues. She blew her nose in the tissues, "I'm...happy to see that you're no longer in pain, I'm happy that...you have someone besides me." Adam just turned away from his mother.

"You don't know what Belle means to me." He said, "I'm willing to give up my life for her. She was the very first person in this world that...I was able to love. Remember, I told you that I closed off my heart. Belle was the first person that was able to touch it. I don't want to lose her again!"

"Again?" Lydia said, "What do you mean 'again'?" Adam slowly put his empty plates and platter on the small desk, he then stood up and walked over to his king-sized bed. Lydia got up and placed her left hand on his left shoulder.

"When I was still cursed, Belle had to leave to find her sick father." Adam started, "Nothing could express what I felt when she left. I was just as heartbroken as I was when you were taken from me. I thought..." he choked, "I thought I wasn't going to see her again." Lydia pulled out her tissues and gave them to her son. He gently took them out of her hand and wiped his face.

"Adam, I may not know what it's like to suffer such heartbreak," Lydia said, "but I do understand how someone can be so important to someone else." Adam turned around and looked at his mother, "I'm not getting between you and Belle, in fact, I'm not even trying. I just...want to be absolutely sure that you both feel exactly the same for each other and...I want you to be happy."

"Don't worry, mother," Adam said as he embraced his mother, "I am happy. For the first time in a very long time, I'm happy." Lydia hugged her son back, she knew that this was going to be tough for her, but her son was as tough as she was. She didn't have to worry about her son telling her otherwise about anything.

Just then, Adam's body tensed up, he groaned in pain and was starting to fall to the ground. Lydia caught him before he actually did, but he was a little heavy for her to hold up.

"Adam, what's wrong?" Lydia said in her worried motherly voice.

"My back really hurts," Adam groaned, "I'm starting to get a bad headache."

"Get some rest, son." Lydia said as she laid Adam in his bed. She covered him up with blankets and made sure that he was comfortable. Adam started to groan even more as Lydia rested her hand on his forehead. She quickly removed her hand when she felt that Adam was burning up. "You're starting to catch a fever, Adam. I'm going to get some cool cloths and cold water, I'll be right back!" Adam heard a couple of pops and nothing else, he kept his eyes closed trying to conceal the pain from his back and headache. Just then...
