A/N: REWRITTEN
"Madison, can we please talk?" Dad asked me once I entered the kitchen.
I sighed, opening the fridge, "There's nothing to talk about."
"Please, sweetie," I heard Mum say.
"Okay, fine," I closed the fridge and turned to face them, "I have some questions. When was I given to you?"
"You were about two weeks old when Jordan gave you to us," Dad answered, "he said you needed to be protected."
"What about Allison? Is she adopted?"
"No," Mum shook her head.
I nodded shortly, "Are Jordan and Miranda witches?"
"Miranda was, Jordan was human."
"Mum, is Alex your brother?" There was always this feeling inside of me telling me that Alex wasn't her brother. Mainly because he came into my life when I first go my powers.
"No, he's Miranda's younger brother. When you told us about setting a tree on fire with your mind, Chris had to find Alex to help because we weren't able to do that."
I rubbed my forehead, "I need some time to sort things out...it's a lot to take in at the moment."
They nodded and Mum came over placed a kiss on my forehead. When they left the kitchen, I sat on a bar stool and rested my body on the island bench.
Just when I thought there would be some piece and quiet, the front door opened and slammed shut.
I sighed, lifting my head up to see Allison.
"Hey," she breathed out. I gave her a weak smile. "How much do you know about our family history and secrets?"
I raised an eyebrow, but spoke anyway, "Um, Dad told me a lot of stories when I was younger."
"Do you believe any of them?" She asked, walking closer into the kitchen.
I looked at her closely, wondering why she was asking me these questions. Tears were welling up in her eyes as if she was scared and saw something that terrified her.
That could any mean one thing...
"Kate told you about the werewolves and our family, didn't she?" I asked, glancing at the marble bench and back to her.
"You know?" She whispered.
"I've known since I was fourteen," I told her, "they wanted to train me early."
"Were you scared?" Allison asked.
"Completely," I admitted with a dry chuckle, "I mean, it's practically our family's job to kill werewolves. Although, I don't think all are that bad."
"What makes you say that? Kate told me–"
"Kate's twisting words into your head. I dated a werewolf," so have you, "after I found out about all of this. He was good, innocent, he had an anchor that keep in control, stopping him from lashing out."
"What was it?" She looked interested.
"Me," I said quietly, "I kept him sane."
"Wow," she whispered, smiling softly, then looked suddenly worried, "what about the claws and canines?"
"They weren't a problem," I said, then whispered, "to be honest, they were quite a turn on."
I watched as she giggled quietly.
"Nothing's wrong, I just have a lot on my mind," Allison said as she, Lydia, Cassie and I stepped onto the escalators.
"You could smile, at least," I heard Lydia say from behind me, "ever heard of the saying, 'Never frown. Someone could be falling in love with your smile'? Smile, Allison. I'm buying you a dress."
"Have to admit as far as apologies go, that's more than I expected." I'll say...
"Excellent," Lydia praised.
"But not as much as I'm going to ask," Allison continued.
"What? What's that suppose to mean?"
"It means you're going to cancel on whatever dumb, roided-up jock you said yes to and you're going to go with someone else."
"Who?" Lydia asked.
"Him."
I smirked, seeing Stiles checking out the perfumes. He sprayed and sneezed a couple times.
"Oh...don't frown, Lydia. Someone could be falling in love with your smile," Allison repeated her words.
"Aren't you going to help me?" Lydia asked Cassie.
"Oh, I'm staying out of this," my best friend raised her hands in surrender.
I giggled, parting from the girls to look for my own dress.
I didn't want something too revealing or too long. Definitely no green, brown or orange.
After going through several racks of dresses, I found a navy blue one. It stopped above my knees, had thin strap, showed a minimal amount of cleavage.
I smiled, looking up from the dress, only for it to drop. Peter was talking to Allison. I got ready to step if I needed.
"Attention, shoppers. The owner of a blue Mazda, license plate 5UN 1768."
Allison ran upon hearing about her car. I sighed in relief.
I took my phone out of my clutch and texted Derek.
'I need to talk to you.'
After I had a shower, I put on my robe and walked to my room. I blow dried my hair first, then put it half up half down, curling the ends. Then I put my shoes on.
Opening the shopping bag, I pulled out the navy blue dress I bought. I went into my closet and got my golden high heels.
I winced, feeling a stinging pain in my stomach.
Just as I finished applying my makeup, I heard the doorbell ring. "I'll get it!" I yelled.
Before I walked downstairs, I put on my black trench coat. I opened the front door and saw Mark.
"Hi, I think my dad is still in his office," I told the hunter. As I was about to turn away, Mark put a white cloth over my mouth. Then everything went black.
It felt like I was sitting on something cold.
I slowly opened my eyes and it was still dark. I tried moving around but I was strapped in a chair. I tried pulling on the ropes around my wrist and ankles.
A door swung open, footsteps echoed in the silent room, a light brightened the room.
"It's about time you woke up," Kate told me.
I just sat there shocked. "What is this?" I asked.
I watched her eyes travel somewhere else and I followed electricity through the black cords, and there was Derek chained up. I probably shouldn't of sent that text. "I see you already know Derek."
I stayed silent.
"How well do you know Derek?" She asked, crouching down in front of me.
"Not that well," I lied, "we met a couple times."
"Hmm, well I think you're lying. I don't trust you, haven't in a long time." I narrowed my eyes. "But I going to ask you something, who's the Alpha?"
"I don't know, he never told me."
Kate scowled, before standing up and walking over to a wooden chair. She checked her phone, sighing when she pulled it away from her ear.
"Unfortunately, Derek, if you're not gonna talk, I'm just gonna have to kill you. So, say 'hi' to your sister for me." I frowned when she paused on touching the switch. "You did tell her about me, didn't you? The truth about the fire? Or did you?" She stood up and walked over to Derek, whispering, "Did you tell anybody?" He told me. "Oh, sweetie, that's just a lot of guilt to keep buried. It's not all your fault. You got tricked by a pretty face. It happens! Handsome young werewolf mistakenly falls in love with a super-hot girl who comes from a family that kills werewolves," she explained. Sounds like me.
"Is that ironic?" She asked, looking back to me. I glared at her.
"Is it ironic that you're inadvertently helping me track down the rest of the pack again?" She turned back to Derek. I didn't even want to look at him. "We're just a little bit of history repeating."
Kate went back to the machine, tapping her finger on the box. "History repeating. It's not Jackson, is it? Oh, no, no, no, he's got a little scratch on the back of his neck, but he's not in love with Allison. Not like Scott."
When Kate left, I moved around in the chair, trying my best to break free.
"Stop trying to get free, it's not going to work," I heard him say.
I growled quietly, resting back into the chair.
"And can't you use your powers?" He asked.
"I'm too weak."
I opened my eyes and saw that I was in the woods. Candles were lit, a picnic blanket was set on the ground and a picnic basket was next to it. I remember this...it was my last date with Elijah.
"Hey, you made it," I heard his voice whisper in my ear as his arms circled around my waist.
"Hi," I smiled, turning around.
He moved my short brown hair to one side and then left a trail of kisses down my neck.
"This is bad of us," I whispered. "What if my parents find out what you are? It would end badly."
"I know," Elijah agreed, removing his lip and pressed his forehead against mine. "I love you."
"I love you too," I smiled and kissed him briefly.
We sat down on the blanket, eating cheese balls. Then he threw one at me. My jaw dropped in amusement.
"Hey, don't waste the cheese balls!" I laughed. Another one was thrown at my face. So I grabbed a handful of them and threw it at Elijah.
He tackled me and I laughed again. "Can you show me?" He knew what I was talking about. I hadn't seen what his werewolf side was like.
He nodded and shifted. I was fascinated. His face was morphed into a wolf-like sculpture, there were four sharp canines sticking out of his mouth and his eyes were glowing gold.
I reached out one of my hands and he jerked back causing my eyes to widen a little bit. "Sorry, it's a reflex," he apologised through a mouth full of fangs.
I shook my head slightly. Leaning up, I pressed my lips to his.
"You're not scared?" He asked once we pulled away. He had already shifted back.
"No," I shook my head, "I know you wont hurt me," his eye looked lightly guilty so I added, "not intentionally."
I closed my eyes and we started kissing again. My hands began to roam his back, then I rolled us over and straddled his waist. My hands began to travel under his dark shirt, then my phone started vibrating. I quickly pull away and grabbed it.
"Crap," I was breathing heavily, "They know I'm not home." I stood up with Elijah. "I'm sorry I have to leave. If I could, I'd stay here all night with you."
"I'll see you tomorrow." I kissed him once more. "I love you," he smiled.
"Love you too, wolfman," I giggled. Elijah rolled his eyes playfully.
I started walking for about two minutes, then I heard someone screaming for help and instantly followed the voice. It was Elijah being held by two strong hunters. Then I saw Kate and my grandad, Gerard.
"What are you doing?" I yelled. I tried to run to Elijah, but another hunter held me back.
"He's a werewolf and you've been dating him. This is not what we taught you to do!" I could hear the anger in Kate's voice.
Tears fell from my eyes.
Elijah was still trying break free. "Don't do this, please don't. There's a code, Elijah hasn't done anything! Aunt Kate, let him go! I love him!"
Kate didn't listen to me. She picked up the silver sword.
"Please don't! I promise I'll stay away! I won't go near him." I watched as she paused, thinking it over.
"You need to be taught a lesson," I heard the hunter from behind me say.
"Stop!" I yelled.
She ignored me, cutting Elijah in half.
My eyes widened as I let out a gasp. "No!" I screamed. More tears were streaming down my face. No one even tried to stop her. I tried to run to Elijah, but the hunter held me. "Let me go," I sobbed, trying to fight against his grip. Eventually, I broke free from being held and ran all the way home.
I went up the steps and tried to open the front door but it was locked. I pounded on the door and my parents quickly opened it. My face was stained from tears. I hugged Dad.
"She killed him," I mumbled into his shirt.
"Who killed who?" Mum asked.
"Kate!" I yelled, pulling away from him. "She killed Elijah."
"Why would Kate kill your boyfriend?" She asked again.
"He was a werewolf," I wiped my tears. There was no point in lying now.
"Madison–" I cut Dad off.
"Don't 'Madison' me! Elijah told me werewolves have anchors that keep them in control. Do you wanna know what his anchors was? Me, it was me. I kept him human," I took a shaky breath, "and now he's dead and it's all my fault." I started crying all over again.
I felt tears coming to my eyes but I refused to let them fall. I saw Derek looking at me with sympathy and a tinge of anger but was not directed at me.
"What?" I asked, wanting to get out of the metal chair.
"I saw that," he said quietly, "the memory."
"What memory?" I asked, dreading what he was going to say.
"When Kate killed some guy called Elijah."
I sighed, looking away.
"Is...is that why you're not a hunter?"
I nodded.
"And that's why you hate Kate," it wasn't a question.
"Yes," I whispered.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because it doesn't concern you," I said coldly.
