A/N: REWRITTEN
For the first time in a while, I woke up before my alarm. It was a quarter to six in the morning. Marvellous memories from last night came flooding back. Unfortunately, Derek had to leave. He told me was going to test Jackson to see if he was the kanima.
I got out of bed and put on my dressing gown. I glanced at myself in the mirror, my eyes freezing at the marks on my neck. Derek left a quite a mark. It's kind of like a mating mark, I guess. Letting over wolves know that you're taken. If anything, he should of put it somewhere where no one would see it.
To start off the day, I had a hot shower which soothed my wounds. After that, I put on some clothes, then walked downstairs, wrapping a leopard print scarf around my neck.
I saw Allison sitting at the dinning table eating breakfast as I walked in to the kitchen.
"Morning," I smiled.
"Morning," she returned a smile.
I made myself some wheatbix with chopped banana and strawberries.
"Where are the parentals?" I asked, taking a spoonful of my breakfast.
"I'm not sure where they went," Allison answered.
"How are things with Scott?" She blushed and I saw her hide her smile in her coffee cup.
"There great," she nodded. "Really great." I laughed.
"And Derek?" She asked me.
"Amazing," I breathed out.
I saw Scott and Stiles come running up to Cassie and I as we walked to our classes.
"Wow, Mads, you look..." Stiles' eyes widened.
"You okay, Stiles?" I acted innocent.
He looked flustered, then shook his head. "So, I only found one thing online called the kanima. It's a were-jaguar from South America that goes after murderers," Stiles explained.
"That thing was not a jaguar," I said.
"Yeah, and I'm not exactly a murderer," he retorted.
"Yeah, but you did see it kill somebody, which is probably why is tried to kill you. And it's still trying to kill you, and it probably won't stop until you're dead," Scott went on.
"That's nice," I commented sarcastically.
"You know, sometimes I really begin to question this friendship." I laughed softly.
"Bye you two," I waved.
"Are you ready for our exams?" Cassie asked, slightly fidgeting.
"Yeah," I nodded. "Cas, what's wrong?"
She glanced over at Erica and Isaac.
"So Derek wants this done during chemistry?" I heard Erica ask.
"Yeah, and if it's Lydia, I'm gonna kill that bitch, all right?" I gasped quietly, dropping my pencil case.
As I was picking up the pencil case, I saw Erica and Isaac spare a glance at me.
"We have to test her first," Erica told him.
I walked to the exam room and sat down in an empty seat. Cassie sat in front of me.
"They're gonna kill her, aren't they?" I whispered.
"I think so, but I'm not," she whispered.
"It's not her, okay? There is no way that Lydia turned into a kanima, but for now, let's just try to stay focused," I squeezed her shoulder.
Ms Morell, the guidance councillor-slash-french teacher, was supervising the exam.
"All of you know the rules. No taking. If I catch you, you will automatically get a zero. You may start now."
Once the two periods ended, Cassie went with Stiles and Lydia to protect her. I went with Allison to the guidance councillor's office to see if she can translate the passage about the kanima.
"Do you mind me asking where you got this? A book?"
"It's a family heirloom," I shrugged.
"Interesting family." You have no idea... "I'm pretty familiar with most romance languages, but this is a little out of my reach."
"Can you give it a shot?" Allison asked.
"All right, 'Kanima...' Do I have that right?" I nodded. "'Like the wolf, it's power is greatest at the moon's peak'. Huh, sounds like a werewolf."
Allison and her chuckled.
"Oh, there's some words here I don't recognise," Miss Morell.
"Just try. Please."
"Could I hold on to it for a bit?"
I smiled, "Now would be best."
She sighed, "All right. Um...okay. 'Like the wolf, the kanima is a social creature, but where the wolf seeks a pack, the kanima seeks a friend'." She handed me back the paper.
"A 'friend'. What does that mean?" My sister asked.
"Maybe it's lonely," Miss Morell told us.
"Like a teenager," I mumbled.
Allison and I shared a worried glance.
"If we're meeting at Scott's house, then where is he?" Lydia asked as she got out of Stiles' jeep.
"Meeting us here, I think," Stiles said with confidence. "I hope."
As we got inside, he locked the door and put on the metal chain. Lydia gave him a look.
"Uh, there's been a few break-ins around the neighbour hood." He grabbed the wooden hair and put it under the door knob. Lydia raised her eyebrows. "And a murder...yeah it was bad."
I scratched the back of my neck and looked around.
"Why is Madison and my sister here?" She asked.
"We're helping, right Cassie?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Yeah," she breathed out, nodding.
Jackson asked Lydia to follow him and she did.
I looked out the window and saw Derek and his pack. Allison grabbed her phone.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"I think I need to call Dad," she replied with a sad tone.
"But then he'll find out about Scott and Cassie," my eyes widened. He can't find out, especially about Cassie. He just thinks she's a normal teenage girl.
"I know, but what am I supposed to do? They're not here to scare us, okay? They're here to kill Lydia."
Stiles looked at me, then to the door, back and forth, before quickly locking the wooden door, grabbing my forearm and pushing me out the door.
"Hey!" I yelled, but he had already re-locked it. I sighed in frustration.
Turning around, I saw the pack all looking at me.
"Don't they trust you?" Erica asked.
"Oh, they do. In fact, Stiles loves me." I heard her growl. Someone's got a crush... "But they think that I can convince you guys. Obviously, I can't." I sat down on the front step. "But there are other things I can do." I smirked.
"Like what?" Isaac quizzed.
"I could brainwash you, make you forget. I've never done it before so you might feel...like a lot of pain," I played along.
I heard two of them gulp. I chuckled as my phone rang.
"Hello?" I answered it.
"Hey," I heard Alex's voice. "So, I had a vision. I saw you with glowing eyes again." Straight to the point, why don't ya...
"Yeah, I know. Deaton sort of explained it. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Would you believe me if I told you?"
"Nope," I said popping the 'p'.
"Mmhmm."
"Where are you now?" I asked.
"At the hospital," he answered. "And before you ask, everything is fine. Julie and I are about to see our baby."
I smiled, looking down to the ground, "Send me a picture."
"I will."
Then I remembered where I was.
"Um, can I call you back? It's kind of a really bad time?"
"Why, because Derek and his pack are trying to kill the redhead girl?" My jaw slightly dropped and saw the pack snapped their heads at me.
"God, you know everything," I huffed, looking away. "Such a stalker."
"I prefer to think of it as looking out for you. You know, like a guardian angel," I heard him smiling. I groaned. "Okay, I'm going. See ya."
"Bye." I hung up and then saw Isaac and Erica missing from the group in front of me.
My eyes changed to purple as I stood up. I tried breaking down the front door and finally got it open. Cassie closed the door right behind me. I think Allison went upstairs to Lydia and Jackson.
Isaac was walking over to Stiles, but I grabbed his arm and threw him back.
"Don't even think about," I said, punching his jaw. OW! I didn't think it would hurt that bad.
"Derek told us not to hurt you, but Erica and I really don't trust you so..." He grabbed my forearm and flung me across the room.
I gasped in pain. "You bitch," I breathed out, checking myself for any wounds. When I came up clean, I stood up.
Scott finally arrived and knocked Isaac out. I sighed in relief. Cassie opened the door and he threw Isaac and Erica out onto the grass.
Scott, Stiles, Allison, Cassie and I walked out of the house. Derek looked at me with concern, then gave Scott a cocky smirk.
"I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott," he said to Scott. "You're not an omega. You're already an Alpha of your own pack. But you know you can't beat me."
"I can hold you off until the cops get here," Scott said confidently.
In the distance I could hear police sirens. Then I heard hissing. Running onto the grass, looking up at the roof I saw the kanima.
"Get them out of here," Derek told Boyd, not taking his eyes off the kanima.
"Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" My head snapped to Lydia. It's not her.
"It's Jackson," Scott whispered.
