Hi guys! Super sorry for the late update, but this time, my laptop decided to break and I haven't fixed it yet so I wrote all of this on my mom's laptop. Thanks for getting me to 200+ reviews! This chapter is mostly songs that I think reflect the characters sort of. And I'm so happy that everyone was so surprised at the end of the last chapter. Don't worry, the wait will be over soon.
Thank you to GrojGirl10, Shelly Marsh, WolvesRock14, ZeldaMelda, FangaWolfLover, and Musical Skater for reviewing.
GrojGirl10: They technically are reunited in a way even though they haven't done anything as a band.
Shelly Marsh: Yeah and don't worry, it will be soon. And yes they will. Perhaps next chapter.
WolvesRock14: I don't think this chapter will help your confusion at all, but here.
ZeldaMelda: Yep and I will. And thank you!
FangaWolfLover: Thanks for the mini-party. And it would be awesome if it was the Riddler, but it isn't. He's one of my favorite Batman villains other than the Joker. And I didn't mention the spies before and you may be right. I think you mean Macki and Stephen's parents? I think...? Thank you for the part about the songs. I tried at that. You'll find out soon enough. Believe me.
Musical Skater: I think they creeped everyone out. Thank you and I will!
Still don't own Grojband nor the Newmans. I just own the plot and OCs. Here is your ? P.O.V. less chapter.
Last time: A-chan: It seems easier for me to do this than having to find what to copy and paste onto here. So last time a bombshell was dropped. But before that, Macki (who I forgot about completely) and her brother moved back to Peaceville. Everyone was introduced to the siblings except for Riley and Spencer, Spencer not meeting Stephen. But when Macki first set eyes on Riley, she stared, almost glared, at her. And finally, while in ?'s P.O.V., we learn that they have spies, the mystery plan will begin soon, and the mystery person killed Carrie's mother.
Carrie's P.O.V.
"What was with the staring at Riley?" I ask Mack as I walk with her to her 8th period class. I would've asked her earlier, but we were always around people.
"I feel like I know her from somewhere. It's like I can't place her name and face," Mack explains. "She seems so familiar. You know the feeling?"
"Sort of. It's like when you meet someone when you're real young, then forget about them and when you meet them again when you're older, you can't remember their name or you can't remember why they seem like they know you, right?" I ask, slowing my steps as I then stand in front of the auditorium's doors. This was thankfully the last class of the day and we could then go home.
The short girl stops beside me and nods."Yeah, sort of like that."
"Well this is one of the only classes we don't have together. I have to go to the band room this period, but after this we can go home," the bell rings, signifying the start of the 8th class. "Before I go, I would like to tell you a few things before I go. First, you can show up late to this class since the aud is in the front of the school. And I would have this class with you if I didn't have the band thing going on, so I'm sorry for that."
"It's fine. I'm pretty sure Stephen has study hall with me, so I won't be alone," Mack says with a small smile.
"Um, what else?" I ask myself. "Oh, I almost forgot. You can use your cellphone in there to text me or whatever, but I won't be able to answer since I kinda have a meeting right now. This class lets out at 2:35 so when you get out, stand by the door and wait for me. If I don't show up after about 2 minutes, our bus is the first one when you walk out the doors in front of the aud. And just sit where we did this morning. I have to go now, so see you soon!"
As soon as I start to leave, Stephen walks around the corner being led by a tall boy with freckles. I smile and wave at Stephen and his short sister and start to fast walk towards the band room, being several minutes late to the "meeting". I reach the white door and open it. Both bands including Riley and Spence are sitting in chairs facing the stage just like yesterday. Brandy is standing on the stage and turns to look at me as I open the door.
"Sorry I'm late I-" Brandy cuts me off.
"I know, helping out a new student. That doesn't matter for now. Just take your seat so we can get started." I look at both bands and see an empty chair between the two redheads. Quickly, I walk over and sit in the chair.
"Now we can begin. We-we being me, my husband, and a record company-have decided that for each song you perform, my husband and I will score you, and the person or people with the lowest score will be eliminated from the competition. Don't worry, you won't be kicked out of the band. Each week or more we will give you a new task. But if you do not perform a song, you will be out of your respective band. And the winners, as there will be two of them, will have a special surprise in store for them," Brandy explains.
"You did say 'record company' right?" Riley asks.
"That is correct."
Everyone looks to each other with similar looks of surprise present.
"That concludes our little meeting. As you know your next task is a cover. You will be singing it this Friday so be prepared." And with that, Brandy walks off the stage leaving us in a silence.
"Does that mean if we win, we get a record deal?" the blue haired frontman next to Laney asks, breaking the silence.
"That's what it sounds like," Laney responds.
We spend the rest of the 42 minute class period, the meeting took about 10 minutes out of it, discussing what song to do next.
The bell rings after what felt like a life time. I walked with Laney, Lenny, and Riffin towards the auditorium, being the only way to the bus on this side of the school. Mack and Stephen stand outside the auditorium. As they see us, they walk towards us.
"Hi," Macki says shyly.
Swinging his arms over Laney's and my shoulders, Stephen flirts, winking at both of us," Hello pretty ladies. How have your days been?"
"Without you? Wonderful," Laney says playfully, shrugging herself out from under Stephen's arm.
"No need to be so mean," he says with a fake frown.
"Would it make you feel better if I say that my day was horrible without you?" I ask, looking up at him.
"Why yes it would. Thank you very much," Stephen says, squeezing my shoulders slightly. "You should take her example Laney, and try to get with me while you still can."
Laney looks at him in a way that says 'do you not remember what I told you this morning?' "Yeah right. Me and you?" Laney starts to laugh. "That would never work out just so you know. I like someone else, sorry," Laney says, glancing quickly back at Corey.
I slip out from under the brunette's arm as Macki apologizes for her brother being such a flirt. Laney continues to walk ahead and I started to follow her. I looked behind me one last time and could've sworn that I saw both of the boys frowning towards Stephen.
The bus ride on the way home was quiet mostly because no one had much to say. Corey and Lenny both got off before us. Dropping Laney, Mack, Stephen, and I off at the same stop from this morning, the bus drove us leaving us to bid farewells to each other. The four of us went our different ways.
That Friday
We all arrived at the band room, same time as the week before. "Okay. The way we are going to do this, is that the names are alphabetically alphabetized on the list. I will read it from here. You will then line up in order at the stage's stairs. When it is your turn, you will come onto the stage and state what song you are doing and who the artist is. You will then proceed to sing that song. When you are done, you will go off the opposite side of the stage and sit in the seats you are now," Brandy says from the stage. "Everyone understand?"
Noticing the nodding heads, she proceeds to read the list. "Carrie Beff, Corey Riffin, Kim Kagami, Kin Kujira, Kon Kujira, Konnie Kagami, Laney Penn, Lenny Nepp, Riley Hazzard, and Spencer McHale. Now please line up in that order and when you are ready, Carrie, you may take the stage."
I nod and after several good lucks (and one break a leg from Riley) I take the stage, still nervous like I was last time. "I will be singing 'Since U Been Gone' by Kelly Clarkson." The music starts up and I begin.
Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson
"Here's the thing we started out friends
It was cool but it was all pretend
Yeah yeah
Since U Been Gone
You dedicated you took the time
Wasn't long till I called you mine
Yeah Yeah
Since U Been Gone
And all you'd ever hear me say
Is how I pictured me with you
That's all you'd ever hear me say"
As I started to hit the first chorus I began to not feel as nervous as I did just moments before. I began to feel the thrill of singing in front of people again.
"But Since U Been Gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on
Yeah, yeah
Thanks to you
Now I get
What I want
Since U Been Gone
How can I put it? You put me on
I even fell for that stupid love song
Yeah, yeah
Since U Been Gone
How come I'd never hear you say
I just wanna be with you
I guess you never felt that way
But Since U Been Gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on
Yeah, yeah
Thanks to you
Now I get (I get) what I want
Since U Been Gone
You had your chance you blew it
Out of sight, out of mind
Shut your mouth I just can't take it
Again and again and again and again
Since U Been Gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on
Yeah, yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get, I get what I want
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on
Yeah, yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get (I get)
You should know (you should know)
That I get, I get what I want
Since U Been Gone (3x)"
As the song ended, I smiled and stepped off the stage as they people in line clapped. My blue haired counterpart then took the stage as I reached my seat.
"I will be singing 'Tonight Tonight' by Hot Chelle Rae," Corey says before the song starts.
Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae
"Uno, dos, tres
It's been a really really messed up week
Seven days of torture, seven days of bitter
And my girlfriend went and cheated on me
She's a California dime but it's time for me to quit her
La la la, whatever, la la la, it doesn't matter, la la la, oh well, la la la
We're going at it tonight tonight
There's a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight tonight and we're dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don't know if I'll make it but watch how good I'll fake it
It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight
I woke up with a strange tattoo
Not sure how I got it, not a dollar in my pocket
And it kinda looks just like you
Mixed with Zach Galifianakis
La la la, whatever, la la la, it doesn't matter, la la la, oh well, la la la
We're going at it tonight tonight
There's a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight tonight and we're dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don't know if I'll make it but watch how good I'll fake it
It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight
You got me singing like
Woah, come on, ohh, it doesn't matter, woah, everybody now, ohh
Just don't stop let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out
Just don't stop let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out
It's you and me and were runnin this town
And it's me and you and we're shakin the ground
And ain't nobody gonna tell us to go cause this is our show
Everybody
Woah, come on, ohh, all you animals
Woah, let me hear you now, ohh
Tonight tonight there's a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight tonight and we're dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don't know if I'll make it but watch how good I'll fake it
It's all right, all right, tonight, tonight (2x)
Yeah it's all right, all right, tonight, tonight
Just singing like
Woah, come on, ohh, all you party people
Woah, all you singletons, ohh (even the white kids)
Just don't stop let's keep the beat pumpin'
Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down
It's my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out (2x)
Its"
The song fades out and he steps off the stage, people clapping. The next person, Kim, steps up on stage and says," I'll be performing 'I Love It' by Icona Pop."
I Love It by Icona Pop (feat. Charli XCX)
"I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.
I don't care, I love it.
I don't care.
I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your stuff into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.
I don't care, I love it.
I don't care.
You're on a different road, I'm in the Milky Way
You want me down on earth, but I am up in space
You're so damn hard to please, we gotta kill this switch
You're from the 70's, but I'm a 90's bitch
I love it!
I love it!
I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your stuff into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.
I don't care, I love it.
I don't care, I love it, I love it.
I don't care, I love it.
I don't care.
You're on a different road, I'm in the Milky Way
You want me down on earth, but I am up in space
You're so damn hard to please, we gotta kill this switch

I don't care, I love it.
I don't care, I love it, I love it.
I don't care, I love it.
I don't care, I love it, I love it.
I don't care.
I love it."
She hurried off the stage and Kin took her place.
Came Back Haunted by Nine Inch Nails
"Ha-ha-haunted
The throat is deep and the mouth is wide
Saw some things on the other side
Made me promise to never tell
But you know me, I can't help myself
Now I've got something you have to see
They put something inside of me
The smile is red and its eyes are black
I don't think I'll be coming back
I don't believe it
I had to see it
I came back haunted
I came back haunted
I said goodbye but I
I had to try
I came back haunted
C-c-c-came back haunted
Everywhere now reminding me
I am not who I used to be
I'm afraid this has just begun
Consequences for what I've done, yeah
I don't believe it
I had to see it
I came back, I came back haunted
C-c-c-came back haunted
I said goodbye but I
I had to try
I came back, I came back haunted
I c-c-c-came back haunted
I don't believe it
I had to see it
I came back, I came back haunted
C-c-c-came back haunted
I said goodbye but I
I had to try
I came back, I came back haunted
C-c-c-came back haunted
They tried to tell me but I
I couldn't stop myself and I
I came back, I came back haunted
C-c-c-came back haunted
Just can't
Stop
Came back ha-ha-haunted
[x9]
Just can't
Stop"
Mentally, I wrote down each song. I had heard some of the songs before, but not all of them. I would also have to check out the bands later too. Kon came up, said the song and artist, and the song began.
50 Ways to Say Goodbye by Train
"My heart is paralyzed
My head was oversized
I'll take the high road like I should
You said it's meant to be
That it's not you, it's me
You're leaving now for my own good
That's cool, but if my friends ask where you are I'm gonna say
She went down in an airplane
Fried getting suntanned
Fell in a cement mixer full of quicksand
Help me, help me, I'm no good at goodbyes!
She met a shark under water
Fell and no one caught her
I returned everything I ever bought her
Help me, help me, I'm all out of lies
And ways to say you died
My pride still feels the sting
You were my everything
Some day I'll find a love like yours (a love like yours)
She'll think I'm Superman
Not super minivan
How could you leave on Yom Kippur?
That's cool, but if my friends ask where you are I'm gonna say
She was caught in a mudslide
Eaten by a lion
Got run over by a crappy purple Scion
Help me, help me, I'm no good at goodbyes!
She dried up in the desert
Drowned in a hot tub
Danced to death at an east side night club
Help me, help me, I'm all out of lies
And ways to say you died
I wanna live a thousand lives with you
I wanna be the one you're dying to love...
But you don't want to
That's cool, but if my friends ask where you are I'm gonna say (2x)
She went down in an airplane
Fried getting suntanned
Fell in a cement mixer full of quicksand
Help me, help me, I'm no good at goodbyes!
She met a shark under water
Fell and no one caught her
I returned everything I ever bought her
Help me, help me, I'm all out of lies
She was caught in a mudslide
Eaten by a lion
Got run over by a crappy purple Scion
Help me, help me, I'm no good at goodbyes!
She dried up in the desert
Drowned in a hot tub
Danced to death at an east side night club
Help me, help me, I'm all out of lies
And ways to say you died"
Konnie stepped up and said," I'll be singing 'Begin Again' by Taylor Swift."
Begin Again by Taylor Swift
"Took a deep breath in the mirror
He didn't like it when I wore high heels
But I do
Turn the lock and put my headphones on
He always said he didn't get this song
But I do, I do
Walked in expecting you'd be late
But you got here early and you stand and wave
I walk to you
You pull my chair out and help me in
And you don't know how nice that is
But I do
And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again
You said you never met one girl
Who had as many James Taylor records as you
But I do
We tell stories and you don't know why
I'm coming off a little shy
But I do
But you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again
And we walked down the block to my car and I almost brought him up
But you start to talk about the movies that your family watches
Every single Christmas and I want to talk about that
And for the first time what's past is past
'Cause you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again (2x)"
It is finally Laney's turn and as she takes the stage, she announces her song.
Still Into You by Paramore
"Can't count the years on one hand
That we've been together
I need the other one to hold you
Make you feel, make you feel better
It's not a walk in the park
To love each other
But when our fingers interlock,
Can't deny, can't deny you're worth it
'Cause after all this time I'm still into you
I should be over all the butterflies
But I'm into you (I'm into you)
And baby even on our worst nights
I'm into you (I'm into you)
Let 'em wonder how we got this far
'Cause I don't really need to wonder at all
Yeah, after all this time I'm still into you
Recount the night that
I first met your mother
And on the drive back to my house
I told you that, I told you that I loved ya
You felt the weight of the world
Fall off your shoulder
And to your favorite song
We sang along to the start of forever
And after all this time I'm still into you
I should be over all the butterflies
But I'm into you (I'm into you)
And baby even on our worst nights
I'm into you (I'm into you)
Let 'em wonder how we got this far
'Cause I don't really need to wonder at all
Yeah, after all this time I'm still into you
Some things just, some things just make sense
And one of those is you and I (Hey)
Some things just, some things just make sense
And even after all this time (Hey)
I'm into you, baby, not a day goes by
That I'm not into you
I should be over all the butterflies
But I'm into you (I'm into you)
And baby even on our worst nights
I'm into you (I'm into you)
Let 'em wonder how we got this far
'Cause I don't really need to wonder at all
Yeah, after all this time
I'm still into you (3x)"
The short red head came from the stage and sat my between Corey and I who both gave her a high-five, my male counterpart making her cheeks a slight rosy hue. Lenny came on stage he said the song he would be singing. It was a song that we both knew, he had told me about it when I was in Nebraska.
Why by Secondhand Serenade
"The buttons on my phone are worn thin
I don't think that I knew the chaos I was getting in.
But I've broken all my promises to you
I've broken all my promises to you.
Why do you do this to me?
Why do you do this so easily?
You make it hard to smile because
You make it hard to breathe
Why do you do this to me, me?
A frozen glance, a single tear,
Is harder than I ever feared
And you were left feeling so alone.
Because these days aren't easy
Like they have been once before
These days aren't easy anymore.
Why do you do this to me?
Why do you do this so easily?
You make it hard to smile because
You make it hard to breathe
Why do you do this to me?
To me (3x).
I should have known this wasn't real
And fought it off and fought to feel
What matters most? Everything
That you feel while listening to every word that I sing.
I promise you I will bring you home
I will bring you home.
Why do you do this to me?
Why do you do this so easily?
You make it hard to smile because
You make it hard to breathe
Why do you do this to me?
Why do you do this to me?
Why do you do this so easily?
You make it hard to smile because
You make it hard to breathe
Why do you do this to me?
To me (3x)."
I high-fived Lenny when he sat next to me. Then it was Riley's turn.
Torn by Natalie Imbruglia
"I thought, I saw a man brought to life
He was warm, he came around and he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry
Well, you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know
Seem to care what your heart is for
But I don't know him anymore
There's nothing where he used to lie
The conversation has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothing's fine, I'm torn
I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see
The perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn
So I guess the fortune teller's right
Should have seen just what was there
And not some holy light
It crawled beneath my veins
And now I don't care, I had no luck
I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things
That I can touch, I'm torn
I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see
The perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn, torn
There's nothing where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothing's right, I'm torn
I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on this floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see
The perfect sky is torn
I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I'm ashamed
Bound and broken on the floor
You're a little late, I'm already torn, torn"
Last, but not least, Spencer's turn came.
Beautiful by P.O.D.
"You stand with the gun in your hand
Staring at the wall with a look so sad
And thinking about who really cares
And will they even notice if I just disappeared now?
One bang, blood rushed to the head
She'd rather fly through the sky than walk with the dead
So, she stays high while the world goes by
And just another day here waiting to die
Life is beautiful
You share a little love with the whole wide world
Every boy and girl sing along
When we sing why-o, why-o
And she cries but her man denies
It's funny how love comes with so many lies
And he said he'd never do it again
So she puts on a smile and she starts to pretend
She hides all the pain inside
By filling up her arms with pretty little lines
She cuts with no intent to kill
This time she didn't do it but someday she will
Life is beautiful
You share a little love with the whole wide world
Every boy and girl sing a song
When we sing why-o, why-o
And hey, you're beautiful
And there's enough love for the whole wide world
Every boy and girl sing along
When we sing why-o, why-o
And hey, I know that you can find a way
You're beautiful to me
No matter what the people say
It's all gonna be okay
You're beautiful to me
Too weak, too weary to try
Too angry inside, well, so am I
I'm all alone with nobody else
So in need of help,
I keep reminding myself...
That life is beautiful
You share a little love with the whole wide world
Every boy and girl sing a song
When we sing why-o, why-o
And hey, you're beautiful
And there's enough love for the whole wide world
Every boy and girl sing along
When we sing why-o, why-o
And hey,
I know that you can find a way
You're beautiful to me, you're beautiful (2x)
No matter what the people say
It's all gonna be okay
You're beautiful to me, you're beautiful (2x)
And it's all gonna end someday
It's all gonna fade away
You're beautiful to me (5x)
Next chapter, I promise, is going to open with a ? P.O.V. I don't promise that it'll clear everything up, but I'll see what I can do. I couldn't really think of anything to write for part of it that's why I skipped days like that. Writer's block is horrible.
I should be back soon with a new chapter. I don't want to promise anything since it'll probably lead to another computer malfunction. If you have ideas and/or questions feel free to PM me or review me and I'll write back. Love you guys and see you next time ~A
P.S. My school starts next week Wednesday and I'm going into 9th grade so I won't have a whole bunch of time to write. But I'll try my best to write some.
