"That little stinker!" Sagittarius said pacing back and forth. He still couldn't believe what Adam, Belle and Tintement told him, they all saw a woman riding on a white horse and, every time they saw her, she was wearing a white cloak and couldn't see any part of her body, but her light blue eyes.
"Sagittarius!" Adam said, "You need to calm down!"
"How can I calm down knowing that Sapphire, my...lovely Sapphire, managed to follow me all the way out here when I told her how important this trip was to me?" Sagittarius said, still not believing what's going on.
"Maybe...there's another reason about why she might be here." Belle said, getting out of her own seat.
"What do you mean 'might be here'?" Tintement asked.
"Well," Belle started to say, "there's a chance that this might be someone completely different than who Sagittarius believes."
"I doubt that." Sagittarius said, "How many people do you know hide themselves in a black and white cloak?"
"You do have a point about that, cousin." Adam said.
"In fact, we need to find the white horse Tintement said she saw the other night." Sagittarius added.
"Why's that?" Tintement asked.
"Because if that horse is who I think it is," Sagittarius said, "then I'll know for sure that Sapphire's here."
"There isn't many places here that you can hide a horse, let alone a white horse." Adam said, he then looked at Belle, "Belle, I think you and Tintement should stay here while Sagittarius and I find this horse."
"Why should we stay behind?" Tintement asked, Belle rolled her eyes at that question.
"Because there might be a chance that she'll show up again," Sagittarius answered, "but also if this is Sapphire's horse, I don't want anyone else to be near him. Mainly because that horse is very protective of itself and Sapphire, I'm the only one that managed to gain Snowflake's trust. I don't want anyone else here bitten or kicked."
"Good point about that," Tintement said, "off with you then." Adam and Belle rolled their eyes at what Tintement said. After that, Sagittarius followed Adam out to the horse stables.
"Master!" one of the servants who tends Phillipe said, "What are you doing down here?"
"I'm here to see if you may have seen...a white horse?" Adam asked as he watched his cousin looking around the stables.
"A white horse?" the servant said, "Well, actually..."
"Snowflake!" Sagittarius interrupted, Adam noticed that he went to the far back of the stables. Adam and the servant went around the corner and saw Sagittarius trying to calm down a white horse. The horse was trying to rear, but the stable wasn't giving it enough room to do so. "Whoa, Snowflake, calm down!" Sagittarius quickly said, "No one here will harm you, trust me!" Adam couldn't believe how fast the horse calmed down as his cousin spoke to it. It was like the horse became a different horse. "No doubt about it," Sagittarius said as he looked at Adam, "this is Snowflake...and if Snowflake's here, then that means Sapphire is here somewhere."
"Julian," Adam said as he turned back to the servant, "you wouldn't happened to have seen a person in white, have you?"
"Well," Julian started to say, "I...did see someone when I came here this morning. I came in here to take care of the Mistress' horse...then I saw the woman coming out of that stall." He pointed over at the stall Snowflake was in. "There was hay sticking to his...or her clothes. I was about to speak to her...until she saw me and took off inside the castle."
"You haven't seen her since?" Sagittarius asked with his arms crossed.
"No, I haven't." Julian answered, "I tried to take a closer look at this horse, but whenever I got close to it, it would try to rear and break the stall door. I've been avoiding this horse ever since."
"Thank you, Julian." Sagittarius said, then he left to go back inside the castle.
"Master, is something wrong?" Julian asked.
"No," Adam answered trying to follow his cousin, "it's nothing." Adam tried to keep up with his cousin, but Sagittarius was walking at a fast pace.
"Adam," Sagittarius finally spoke, "why don't you have any horses of your own?" He looked back and noticed that Adam was trailing behind him. Sagittarius finally stopped so that his cousin could catch up and catch his breath.
"Because," Adam said reaching Sagittarius, "I sent the horses away when...I was cursed. I didn't want them around because I didn't want to...hunt them down."
"Well, that's a good enough reason." Sagittarius said, "I wish you told me that you didn't have any horses. I would've brought a few for you."
"Actually I do have one," Adam said, remembering that there were two horses that carried the carriages to Belle's cottage. "I just let the servants use him. Before we lose topic, now that you have proof that Sapphire's here, how are we going to find her?"
"That's a good question." Sagittarius answered.
"You're telling me that you don't have any idea on where she could be?" Adam said surprised.
"Actually, I am telling you that, because Sapphire's never been here, I can't guess where she'd be."
"Well, you have a point." Adam said, "She told Belle that she was looking for you, she could be anywhere trying to find you." Just then, they heard a loud crash and then a voice.
"Stop, come back!"
"That's Tintement's voice!" Adam quickly said as he and his cousin ran to where the crash occurred. It didn't take long from them to find out what happened.
"When they got closer, they could hear Tintement and Belle. They turned around a corner and saw Tintement putting a table back on its legs and Belle dusting off a vase.
"Adam," Belle said, "did you find the horse?"
"First though," he said, "we heard a crash, what happened?" Belle turned and gave her cousin a stink eye. She look back at Adam and said;
"We saw Sapphire again."
"You did?" Sagittarius asked, "Where?"
"Well," Belle said as she gave Tintement the stink eye again then looked back at the men, "Tintement and I decided to go off and look for Sapphire ourselves...and also if any of the servants saw her. While we were asking the servants, they would either say they didn't see someone or they saw a ghost. All of a sudden, Tintement shouted and bolted."
"Don't put this blame on me!" Tintement said standing back up, "I saw her! I saw Sapphire!"
"You went after her like she was in trouble!" Belle argued, "You bolted after her, I had to go after you and look what happens! You tripped on one of the table legs, I just happened to catch the vase in time before it could break."
"I thought me bickering with my cousin was bad." Sagittarius thought to himself. "So...you saw her again?" he asked out loud.
"Yes," Tintement said, "your girl is fast! I can see why the servants would think she's a ghost."
"Please don't say that." Sagittarius said, "If there's anything that Sapphire dislikes, it's being called a ghost."
"Sorry." Tintement said, "Anywho, she took off so fast, I don't know how we're going to talk to her."
"Then...I'm going to do something than I know Sapphire is going to slap me for." Sagittarius said.
"What?" Adam asked.
"You have any kiwi and chocolate?"
"You really believe this will work?" Adam asked his cousin. Sagittarius was setting a trap in the ballroom from him to catch Sapphire.
"Trust me," Sagittarius said, "I know Sapphire well enough that she can't help herself when it comes to kiwis drenched or covered in white chocolate. She loves it as much as a dog loves a well-cooked steak."
"Okay, if you're sure." Adam said, he and Belle couldn't believe that Sagittarius was laying a trap for the woman he loves so much. The plan Sagittarius was planning was to set a plate of kiwi and chocolate on a table near the ballroom door. When Sapphire comes in and eats the fruit, Sagittarius would drop a net made of rope down on her from the staircase above the ballroom door.
"You're sure this would work?" Tintement asked.
"We told the servants what's going on," Sagittarius explained, "they're not going to get in here, Sapphire will walk in and I'll catch her. Don't argue with me...please. The last thing I want is to argue with...friends and family while I'm trying to get the woman I love so much to come out." Adam just sighed and he said;
"Okay, we'll stay quiet." Adam looked at Belle and Tintement, Belle nodded her head saying she was agreeing with Adam. She then looked at Tintement, it wasn't until Belle stared at her did she get the message. Tintement nodded her head and Sagittarius got back to getting the trap ready. Once Sagittarius was done, they kept quiet and waited for Sapphire to walk in.
A good ten or fifteen minutes passed, the four of them continued to wait for Sapphire. Just then, they heard a door open. Adam and Sagittarius looked over the banister, there was someone in white getting close to table with the plate of kiwi and white chocolate. Sagittarius knew for a fact that it was Sapphire, she reached out to the kiwi, her hands were still hidden in the cloak's sleeves.
Sagittarius looked at Adam and mouthed if he was ready to throw the net, Adam nodded 'yes', he didn't want to spoil the plan by saying anything. They looked at Sapphire again, she was now eating the fruit. Sagittarius mouthed the countdown to Adam, when he reached three...they threw the net...and Sapphire looked up...
I didn't know if the royals had kiwi back in the day, but I thought what the heck. I love the fruit. Anyway, I know you guys like cliffhangers. Hee-hee!
