When Adam reached the doors to his room, he felt the antenna grow out of his forehead. He quickly opened the door and went inside before anything else popped out of his body. He quickly locked the door and yanked off his jacket and shirt. By the time Adam took his shirt off, he fell to his knees and felt a sharp ache in his middle back. He knew that his shoulder blades were turning into his wings, he decided to close his eyes and stop fighting it.
The wings popped out of his back. Adam opened his eyes and saw the plush light green fur covering his hands, but this time, there was a dark royal blue stripe coming from his middle finger going up his arm. He quickly got up from the floor and went to look in the mirror, he was a little surprised. Adam still looked like what his first moth transformation looked, but the dark royal blue stripes came from his hands, up his arms, up his neck and end at the sides of his eyes. His wings were now a dark forest green with ocean blue circles on the top of his wings and on the bottom, because of the red stripes that were also on his wings, they now looked like eyes. His wings also changed shape, the top part of his wings were still a round shape, but the ends on the bottom part of his wings were thinning down to a pointed end.
Adam couldn't look at himself in the mirror anymore, he went over to his bed, sat down and held onto Belle's dress. He felt his heart starting to break...knowing that his bride's body was broken. He had never felt like this...not since Belle left him to care for her father. He knew that the only way he could relieve this kind of pain...was to talk to someone. Adam got up, still holding Belle's blue dress, went over to the covered glass dome. He removed the handkerchief and the enchanted rose was revealed. He removed the glass dome and reached out to the red rose. Adam gently grabbed it and wished for Rouge to appear, he didn't care about any feelings he had towards her.
"Hello, your highness." Adam let go of the rose and turned around and saw Rouge, sitting on his bed wearing a thin red dress with a huge yellow ribbon in her shinning hair.
"Rouge." He said, completely turning to face her. That's when Rouge saw Belle's torn dress in his arms, she stood up and walked up to him.
"Adam, what happened?" Rouge asked as she reached out to the dress, but Adam walked away from her and held the dress.
"I didn't do anything if that's what you're thinking!" Adam said.
"I wasn't," she said, "I just asked. Clearly...something has happened."
"Yes," he said sadly, "something bad happened...to Belle." Rouge was starting to see tears forming in Adam's eyes, but she wasn't going to point them out.
"Tell me, Adam." She said as she sat in one of Adam's armchairs, "What exactly happened?" Adam sighed as he sat down in the other armchair, his eyes were almost glued to Belle's torn blue dress.
"Belle was attacked." Adam simply and softly said, Rouge's pink eyes grew wide when she heard that.
"By what? Who?" she asked.
"Someone...that she knows for a very long time." Adam said, he then told Rouge what Belle told him about Anton; how much he bothered her, how much he stalked her and how much he was willing to get his hands on her. Rouge just couldn't believe the horrible facts she was just told, Adam never looked up at her while he spoke, his eyes remained on the dress.
"Dear Heaven!" Rouge said, getting out of the chair. "I never thought there would be someone in this world that would be so horrible."
"Except me?" Adam asked, Rouge turned around and looked at him.
"I wasn't including you." Rouge said, then she sighed, "Poor Belle, how bad is she?"
"Two broken legs and her right arm, hand and fingers are broken too...including the ring finger that had mother's rose ring on it." Adam said, he reached into the left pocket of the torn dress and pulled out the broken jewelry. He finally tore away from the dress as he went to the table that had the enchanted rose. Adam placed the broken jewelry on the table, Rouge walked up to the table.
"Yes," she said, "that's Lydia's ring, all right." Rouge picked up some of the other broken pieces. "Does...Veronica know?"
"I'll be honest, I haven't seen her or seen any sign that she's here."
"Hmm, I certainly don't sense her presence here, but there's a good chance that she doesn't know." Rouge then picked up the piece of jewelry that that the string on it. "If this is what I think it is, then the other piece of jewelry is Veronica's rainbow stone."
"Well, that certainly explains why Veronica hasn't made an appearance." Adam said, " Veronica gave Belle that stone whenever Belle needed her. That...stupid...monster must've yanked it off her neck and broke it." Adam threw his left hand over his mouth before he said something dumb, Rouge was starting to feel the anger that Adam was feeling.
"We're gonna have to ask Lydia and Veronica to fix these." Rouge added, "I certainly don't want to be here when Veronica finds out what happened."
"Make that two of us," Adam said leaning against a wall, "if Maurice's reaction was bad, I don't want to see his wife's."
"Well, I might as well get out of here before that happens."
"Wait Rouge." Adam said, "I...need to ask a favor." Rouge raised an eyebrow when he said that.
"What favor is that?" she asked, Adam raised his head to the ceiling as he rubbed the back of his neck. He took a deep breath and said;
"Will you stay and watch Belle?" Rouge had a surprised look on her face when she heard that, she wasn't expecting Adam to ask her that. "Please Rouge?" he added, "I just...want to give her a little more protection while...her legs and right arm are healing." Rouge could sense the truth as he spoke to her, she knew how important Belle was to him.
"I can do that," Rouge answered as she nodded her head, "but...I'm going to have to disguise myself among the servants so that I don't scare the daylights out of them."
"I understand." Adam said, Rouge smiled and put a hand on his right shoulder.
"I'm glad that...despite any feelings you may have against me," she said, "you're giving me a chance to make it up."
"When you first cursed me," Adam explained, "I may not have understood about why you did it, but after being with Belle...and having her teach me a few lessons, I now know that you did it to change me for the better. I shouldn't be angry at you for doing that. Besides, you've done more good that damage through my eyes."
"I still wish that I knew that you were Lydia's kid. If I had, I would've done something different."
"Rouge, we can't change the past, we have to let it go," Adam said, "but there are times where the past is still holding onto us. When that happens, we need to fight it by making happy memories in the future." Rouge smiled as she crossed her arms.
"Something Belle taught you?" she asked.
"No," he answered, "I learned it on my own and I'm teaching Belle about it. There is one more thing I want to ask you."
"Ask away."
"Do you happen to know what happened to my cousin, Sagittarius?" Rouge's eyes widen and her smile dropped, "He told me that he was cursed accidentally by an enchantress name Rosetta, do you know her?"
"Lydia...didn't tell you?" Rouge asked, Adam shook his head 'no'. Rouge then slapped her forehead and covered her eyes. "Yes, I do know Rosetta."
"Is it true that it was an accident?" He asked.
"Yes, I found out about her after Fiona was defeated. Lady Temps told me about what happened...and that she wasn't allowed to come back to the world of magic until your cousin was free...but she begged Lady Temps to let her help your cousin."
"Rouge, I'm getting the feeling that you know more about...Rosetta than what you're telling me."
"I do know her more than anyone else could." Rouge said, "There's no one else you know more than a family member."
"You're related to Rosetta, aren't you?" Adam asked, Rouge looked at him and nodded her head 'yes'.
"Rosetta is my little sister." Rouge sighed as she looked out the window, "It was her first spell that Lady Temps asked her to place, Rosetta has been letting this mistake haunt her ever since it happened. Your cousin wasn't meant to be cursed, it was an accident."
"Then...who was suppose to have it?" Adam asked, but he had an idea on who from what his cousin had told him before.
"A woman named Kaeyln," Rouge said, "by what Lady Temps and Rosetta told me, she deserved that curse. Wait a minute, how did you know about this?"
"My cousin's visiting and he told me what happened to him," Adam said, "and I met the woman who touched his heart and set him free."
"Sapphire? She's a brave woman, including her mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother."
"It's official," Adam said, "Sagittarius, Tintement and now you know what's going about Sapphire. Whatever this secret is, I deserve to know."
"You're gonna have to get it out of Sapphire in order to know." Rouge answered, "Lady Temps told me not to tell anyone about Sapphire's family because of a certain reason, but if Sapphire tells you, then I'll tell you the 'certain' reason." Adam closed his eyes, took a deep breath and said;
"All right, I know when my hands are tied. Right now, my focus is on Belle getting better...and hopefully be prepared for my aunt's visit."
"Tell Lydia about what happened." Rouge added, "Knowing her, she'll be able to tell Veronica before someone points a finger at me for not saying anything sooner. I'll go and check on Belle." Rouge raised her right hand and threw something on the ground, it was a red powder. The red smoke engulfed Rouge and she disappeared.
As for Adam, he looked back at Belle's torn dress. He gently grabbed it and held it close once again. It was like he was trying to hold Belle, telling her that she was now safe. He held onto the dress as he went into his closet. Adam opened a drawer that held the black stone, he gently grabbed it and wished to see his mother.
He heard a loud pop, he turned around and saw his mother, Lydia, she was wearing an red-orange dress and had purple quills sticking out of her hair. She saw Belle's torn dress and asked;
"What happened, Adam?"
