A/N: I'm sorry this chapter took a while. I had a tone of homework and assessments for school, and let's not forget my yearly exams that I really need to study for.

Recap

"Could you please give me a hint?" I begged. I was never really one for surprises.

I rolled my head over to look at him, smiling softly.

"Nope," he said, popping the 'p', "but I will tell you this, my sister came home from college a couple days ago, and my parents started rambling on about a beautiful girl I'm dating, a.k.a. you of course, then Crystal wanted to bring you home for dinner tonight, but I explained that we couldn't since we had prom, but then she came up this is idea for our own little prom."

I swear I almost swooned. I have to admit that I love romantic things.

I watched as his eyes twinkled, briefly glancing at me before going back to the road in front of us.

"I love it already," I told him, giggling at the end.

I licked my top lip, before speaking again, "Could you at least tell me the location?"

Adam pursed his lips, thinking it over for a couple of seconds, "The edge of the preserve."

I hummed, blinking.

He glanced at me, smirking slightly. I gave him an opened mouth smile, before turning to look at back at the road.

I gasped upon seeing a black figure standing metres away from the car.

"Look out!" I yelled, closing my eyes and bracing myself for the impact.

You know how when you're asleep, but your not? It's called Microsleeping. A fraction of a second or up to thirty seconds where an someone fails to respond to some arbitrary sensory input. I could hear everything in the room I was in, but I wasn't responding. Not until I felt someone softly grab a hold of my hand.

Slowly I came back to the land of the living and opened my eyes.

"Hey," my ears focused on the deep voice that came from my father.

I gave him a weak smile that didn't reach my eyes. "Where am I?" I asked quietly.

"You're at the hospital," he answered.

I frowned at him, "Why–oh my god, we hit someone!" I abruptly sat up.

"Calm down," he said softly, putting his hand on my shoulder..

My heart started thumping in my chest. "No, no, no," I shook my head, looking up at him, "where's Adam? Is he okay?"

I couldn't read the expression on his face.

"Let's just focus on you right now, okay?" He suggested.

I sighed, but eventually nodded. "How long was I out?"

Dad checked his watch, "For about 2 hours."

Knock. Knock.

I watched as the hospital door opened and in came Sheriff Stilinski and a female deputy.

"Madison," he nodded, voice void of emotion.

"Sheriff," I copied his tone.

"I need to ask you some questions, if you're up to it," he said.

"You don't have to do it just yet?" Dad said with a comforting tone.

I shook my head, crossing my legs Indian style, "No, I want to get this over and down with."

"What happened before you blacked out?" Stilinski asked, opening an A5 size notepad and clicking a pen.

I began to explain from the point where Adam and I go in his car to when I noticed the black figure standing on the road. Then the Sheriff asked the one question that made my blood boil.

"Have you been drinking?"

I clenched my jaw, narrowing my eyes at him, "No, I wasn't drinking, but if you don't believe me I'll have a blood test."

He nodded, glancing at me and then back to the notepad, "That's it I guess, I'll leave you to it."

When the pair left, I turned to face Dad.

"I can't believe they thought I was drinking," I breathed out, "I'm pregnant, I wouldn't do that."

"It's a standard procedure," he said.

"I still don't like it," I mumbled, looking down at the blanket covering half of my body.

"Where's Allison?" I asked, changing the subject.

"She went back home to get you some clothes to change in, she knows how you find it uncomfortable to sleep in hospital gowns."

I huffed, shaking my head but couldn't keep a smile off my face.

"And how long do I need to stay in here for?"

"Melissa said tomorrow afternoon you'll most likely be released," Dad started to smile, probably remembering all the times I complained about staying in hospitals.

~Dream~

I smiled as I felt a pair of lips on my shoulder, kissing the same spot a few times.

I turned around on the bed, gasping when I saw the sight of my dead ex-boyfriend laying next to me.

"How are you here?" I asked as my vision got blurry from the tears.

"What do you mean?" He quizzed, frowning.

"How did you get here?"

He looked slightly confused, "I live here, you're at my place."

I sat up, glancing around only to notice that I wasn't in the hospital room, I was indeed at his place.

"You're supposed to be dead," I glanced back down at him, shaking my head, not believing what I was seeing, "I watched you die."

He sat up too, the pale grey sheet falling to his waist exposing his toned, slightly muscular chest. He cupped both of my cheeks, "Hey, I'm right here. I'm not dead, I'm here with you."

I watched as his eyes dropped to my lips. They stayed there, until he started to lean in. The moment his lips touched mine, it instantly brought back all of the good times we had together. I felt like that fifteen year old girl all over again.

I closed my eyes, melting into the kiss. I missed the feelings, the kisses, the touches. I arched my back and moaned softly into his mouth.

It suddenly felt wrong so I quickly pulled away, breathless. I threw the sheet off me and got off the bed.

"What's wrong?" I heard him ask.

"This isn't real, Elijah," I shook my head, "you're not alive. Kate cut you in half." I squeezed my eyes shut, taking a deep breath.

When I opened my eyes, I screamed at the sight of him in half. Blood was all over the place and some of his organs were on his bed.

I turned around and ran for the door. I tried opening it, but it was jammed.

"Let me out!" I yelled, banging on the door. "Please. Someone help me!" The end came out as a sob.

I dropped to the floor with a splash, covering my face–wait...splash?

Picking my head, I glanced around, taking in the scenery around me. I was in a lake, the water was almost blue, rocks scattered everywhere with green moss growing on them, the trees were almost as tall as the sky and the rainfall was smashing down to meet the lake.

I stood up and looked around, pausing when I saw a body in the shallow part of the lake.

Hesitantly, I walked over to it. I latched onto the dark blue t-shirt and turn the body over.

It was James.

Dried blood had stained his face, coming from his eye, nose, mouth and ears.

I gasped loudly, before I quickly stood up and started running through the forest. My heart was pounding in my chest so fast that at one point I thought it was going pop out of my chest.

Not watching where I was going, I ran into something hard. I winced, looking up. I saw Derek staring down at me in his full Alpha form, but that's not what caught my attention.

It was the blood around his mouth. Some were dripping off his chin so I knew it was some-what fresh.

"Wha-what happened?" I asked, my voice shaky.

His red eyes just stared into mine, void of any emotion, like he was frozen.

I put both of my hands on the side of his face, not caring if I got the blood on my hands. I searched his eyes, "Derek! What did you do?"

Like an undead zombie, he stumbled over to his left.

I frowned, staring straight ahead. Then I swear I heard my heart stop.

"No," I whispered, slowly shaking my head back and forth.

I looked over to Derek, feeling angered and betrayed. "Why did you do that?" My voice cracked towards the end.

But of course I got no answer. He was still frozen...staring at me, which was starting to creep me out a little bit.

I rushed over to Adam's body, dead body. More tears freely fell down my face and I couldn't be bothered to wipe them away.

"I'm sorry," I whispered although I knew he couldn't hear me. I never wanted him to get hurt.

Everyone around gets hurt.

I turned back around to Derek, glaring at him as my eyes glowed gold.

"Are you happy now?" I chuckled humourlessly, "Do you like seeing me hurt, upset?" By now I was standing in front of him. "Is this what you wanted? For me to be in pain?"

"No," he spoke one word through a mouthful of fangs.

I went to slap him, but his clawed hand shot out and grabbed my wrist, pulling me into his chest.

"If I can't have you, no one can," he growled.

And the next thing I know, he's got his canines in my neck.

I screamed.

~DREAM OVER~

I opened my eyes sharply and gasped slightly. I was back in the hospital room. The sunlight was peeking through the closed window blind.

It was just a dream. None of that happened.

I scanned the room and found out that I was alone. I sighed, taking in a deep breath, calming down my heart rate.

Why did I even dream about them? I'm completely over Elijah, only pained because he died because of my involvement with him. I killed James, and yes it did scar me, I mean I took away his life. An innocent person is dead. And Derek, well...he and I are okay, I guess. It still feels awkward now and then, but it's gonna take time for him and I to be normal friends. But Adam, he's okay, he's alive. My mind was just playing tricks on me.

Speaking of Adam... I need to find him.

I pushed the blankets off my body, slipped on my white and grey striped socks.

I pulled open the door and inhaled deeply. A couple seconds later I found his scent. Following the smell, it led me to a double door room. The sign on the door said 'Morgue'.

I gulped, swallowing my fear and pushed open one of the doors. The room was empty.

My eyes were drawn to one compartment so I walked over to it, opening the rectangular shape door and slowly pulling the tray out. A body was covered over with a pure white sheet.

I let out a shaky breath, wetting my bottom lip.

My mind already knew who it was, but I needed to see who it was. I needed proof.

Shakily, I grabbed a hold of the sheet where the head was and pulled it back, only to drop it when I see the face of Adam.

I gasped quietly, my lips quivering. My vision started to blur.

"Madison, what are you doing in here?"

I spun around, seeing the fuzzy version of Melissa. I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

"Oh sweetie, you shouldn't of found out like this," she said, walking over to me, pulling the sheet back over Adam's dead body and pushing the tray back in.

"I'm sorry," I whispered as a few tears escaped my eyes.

"You have no reason to be apologising," she said softly, but comforting like a mother would do.

Adam really is dead. Does that mean Derek was the one on the road? I know I shouldn't think like that, but a part of me thought that Derek wouldn't do that to Grace and I.

After lunchtime, Melissa paid me a visit, bringing portable ultrasound machine with her.

It was just me. I told Dad and Allison to go home and freshen up. They had stayed at the hospital since they first got here. Dad fell asleep on one of the chairs and Allison slept next to me.

"Hey Madison," she smiled warmly at me.

"Hi," I greeted with no emotion.

I wasn't in the mood for talking tight now.

"How are you doing?" She asked, taking a seat.

"Fine," I mumbled.

She sighed, "It wasn't your fault, you know that, right?"

I nodded eventually, glancing up from the blanket in my lap.

I laid back, pulling my jumper up so I was exposing my toned stomach. She turned on the machine, took out the ultrasound tool and the gel.

"Sorry, it's going to be a little cold," Melissa apologised.

"It's okay," I gave her a small smile which made her eyes twinkle.

She squeezed some gel out onto my stomach, and I shivered at the coldness and waited for Grace to appear on the screen.

I immediately smiled brightly when I saw her, the outline of her body. She was getting bigger.

"She looks around fourteen weeks." I nodded briefly, still staring at the screen.

"So I'm getting released today," I glanced at Melissa with pointed look.

She chuckled, "Yes, you are. Later today you're being released."

"Cool," I beamed, "I don't like staying in hospitals." It always reminded me of the time I tried to take some pills, I was admitted to the hospital just in case I happened to do it again. But I never did. And I remembered making a promise to myself to be a better person.

She chuckled, giving me a warm smile, "Trust me, once you start working here, the feeling goes away."

Nodding, I glanced to the screen, then back to her, "Can I have two printed copies of her?"

"One for you, one for Derek," she sent me a knowing smile.

Confused, I frowned at her, "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Oh, nothing," she chuckled, wiping the gel off my stomach.

I squinted my eyes at her, putting my jumper down. I hummed as there was two knocks on the door, then the door opened.

Another woman walked in wearing a doctors coat, along with Dad and Allison.

"Good afternoon Madison, I'm Dr Hillard."

I gave her a half wave and a short smile. "Am I getting released?" I asked hopefully.

She chuckled, "Yes, you are. I just need you to sign the release papers." She handed me a clipboard and a black pen.

"Is everything okay with her baby?" I heard Dr Hillard ask Melissa.

"Yeah, she's very healthy."

Melissa walked out with the ultrasound machine, not before telling me that she'll print out the copies of Grace.

I skimmed through the sheet before signing my name at the bottom. "All done," I announced quietly.

I handed Dr Hillard the clipboard, and started to get out of the hospital bed.

"Well, Madison, I hope I never have to see you in a hospital bed unless you're giving birth to your daughter." I laughed and it made my cheeks hurt. I've heard that similar saying before, obviously in a good way.

Once we got home, Dad put me to bed. Apparently, I need to rest. I was perfectly fine, but I let him take care of me. I remember when I used to get a cold when I was little and Mum and Dad would pretty much lock me up in my room, but the best part was having Mum's recipe of chicken soup. It always used to warm up my insides.

I rolled over onto my side, looking out the window. The sun was shinning bright outside, but it didn't make me want to get out of my bed.

Now just even thinking about chicken soup makes me want to vomit. I crinkled my nose just as my phone started vibrating from my side table.

I reached over, grabbing it and answering Cassie's call.

"Hey," my voice croaked.

"You're awake!" She yelled, along with two other voices.

"I'm confused," I spoke what I felt.

"Oh, well this morning Natalie, Ashley, Ben, Jeremy and I came to visit you, but you were asleep and we didn't want to wake you." I smiled, closing my eyes.

"I appreciate it," I told them.

"No worries sweetie," I heard Natalie say, "Do you want us to come over? I can bring some ice cream and pickles if you want."

I chuckled, opening my eyes, "As tempting as that sounds, no thank you. I'm just going to rest and help pack up around the house."

"How are you feeling?" Ashley genuinely asked.

How was I feeling? My boyfriend died and no one told me, I found out by myself. "I, uh...I'll be okay," I answered after a moment.

"Will you at least be available tomorrow?" Natalie asked. "Cause we don't have to go the school since we're graduating on Friday."

I sighed mentally, nodding even though they couldn't see me, "Yeah, sure. What time and where?"

"I will pick you up at 4:30 in the afternoon and we're going to my Grandmother's lake house," Cassie explained.

"Will she be there?" I asked.

"No, she passed away a couple years ago."

"Oh," I whispered, "sorry."

"It's okay."

"Okay, so I'll be waiting for you," I said, drumming my fingers over my stomach.

"Cool! See you tomorrow."

"Bye!"

"Bye."

I hung up, still with a smile on my face.

I still couldn't believe I was graduating in a couple of days. It's kind of feels surreal. The years had gone by so fast.

I unlocked my phone, tapping on the music icon and scrolling through the list until I found Riot! by Cher Lloyd. I put my phone back on my side table and threw the blankets off my body. I got out of bed, making my way downstairs to the basement. Flicking on the switch, I walked
down the the steps, finding the empty boxes and bringing them back up to my room.

I put them on my bed, and I scanned around my room.

This was going to take a while to pack everything up.

The sound of knocking knocked me out of my trance. It was passed six o'clock at night and I had almost finished packing up my room.

"Come in!" I called.

The door opened and Dad leaned against the threshold.

"Aren't you supposed to be resting?"

"But resting is boring," I whined, probably looking like a five year old child.

I watched as he cracked a smile.

"And plus, I had to pack up before we leave on Saturday," I finished.

He nodded, "Well, I came up to tell you that dinner is nearly ready."

"Okay, I'll be down soon," I smiled.

I dropped the fake smile once he left, getting off my bed and taking down the pictures on the cork board that was hanging on the wall. I put those photos in a box that already had other ones inside. Then I picked up the small box and packed it away.

I stared at my phone as it started vibrating.

Derek was calling, but I didn't feel like talking to him so I rejected the call.

For some unknown reason, those thoughts about the dream and Adam came flooding back, making my heart skip a beat.

I feel really bad for thinking this way.

After I finished eating dinner, I helped clean up around the house, before heading back to my room. I told a Dad and Allison that I was going to bed, so I knew they wouldn't disturb me.

I quickly and quietly changed into some comfortable clothes.

I put some pillows under my blankets to make it look there was a body underneath. Leaving my phone behind, I secretly climbed out the window.

I jumped off the roof, landing on the tree branch. I probably looked like monkey climbing off the tree, but I didn't care.

Taking a good sniff of the air, I walked in the direction of the woods.

You're probably wondering why I'm going there, right? Of course I'm right.

I have a bit of a lock on the Alpha's scent, it's weak and I will probably loose it soon so that's why I'm going now. It's where the scent is strongest and fresh.

I stopped walking and inhaled once again. It smelled fresh, like the Alpha was close.

I bottled up the fear that was starting to bubble up inside of me, and clenched and unclenched my fist.

"I know you're out there!" I called out bravely and stupidly.

CRUNCH.

I held my breath momentarily and froze. I'm definitely not alone.

Cautiously, I turned around and my eyes found two red dots in the darkness staring right back at me.

"I don't want to fight you, I just want an understanding as to why you're doing this... Do we know each other? I must of done something bad to make you act like this. If I have I'm s–"

I never got to apologise because I was cut off by a feral growl.

Slowly, I grew out my claws and allowed my eyes to shine gold, feeling prepared to defend myself I have to.

"I don't want to fight," I repeated, strongly.

Only the Alpha didn't care, he lunged towards me, swiping out his claws in an attempt to scratch me. I dodged quickly, spinning around to kick him in the back. He caught himself before he fell to the ground. Several times, he tired to attack me around the stomach but I managed to avoid them.

I raised my claws, ready to strike at him, but his hand grabbed my wrist, snapping it. I cried out, briefly closing my eyes. That was the mistake I made.

The Alpha threw me to the ground and I landed on my back. I snapped my wrist back into place, but before I got the chance to get up, he grabbed a fistful of my jacket and lifted me off the ground, then his clawed hand wrapped around my throat and he pressed me into a tree.

I gasped, clawing at his hand, but if anything, it got tighter.

So I went for a different method and scratched him across the face causing him to stumble back, letting me go.

I took in a deep breath and quickly stood up, lunging at him before he could get to me. I kicked him in the stomach, he fell to the ground on his knees.

I wanted to stop, but the rush of adrenaline made me feel so good.

I growled, lifting my right knee to hit him in the chin. Grinning with sharp fangs when I heard a satisfying crack.

I went to hit him again, but a howl echoed through the night, making me look up in a confused daze. It sounded like Derek.

Next thing I know, I've been tackled to the ground, but what was worse was that we kept tumbling down a hill. We landed with a thump, me underneath him. His face was covered by the darkness so all I could see was the red eyes.

He raised his claws in the air and went down to swipe at my neck, but I quickly caught his wrist just when his claws cut under my jaw and used all my strength to kick him, sending him flying backwards.

My jaw dropped in shock and amazement as he fell off the cliff.
