I know it's been a millennium since I last updated this story, a lot has been going on. But today is my birthday and I'm free for the next forty eight hours, so I thought I'd take some time to focus on writing for a while. Enjoy everyone. :)
It was pitch black and frigid. Ciel felt heavy and began to stir in the surrounding darkness. He grunted as he rolled over from his side onto his back. His head was pounding and his breathing was irregular. All he could think about was how dark and cold it was. He felt a rough restraint tearing at his wrists, scratching against his flesh mercilessly. The boy attempted to remain as still as possible, feeling the coarse rope rubbing his skin raw.
"Uhh. Hello?" Ciel was able to yell out, his throat feeling sore and scratchy.
"Is anyone there?" After a few moments of dead silence, Ciel felt a dreadful feeling swelling deep in his stomach. His mind began conjuring up all of the possible ways he would die here on this cold, dark floor. Would he starve, or would an animal come along and tear him to pieces? Would anyone ever find his body or would he be left to decompose and become a faceless victim whose soul never found peace? Ciel's own imagination was beginning to frighten him beyond belief.
Thankfully, there seemed to be a quiet murmuring voice off in the distance. Ciel couldn't make out what the voice was saying but he knew someone was around. Someone who would come to his rescue and keep him from starving or being mauled by a vicious animal.
"Hey! Hello! Can you hear me? Please, I'm lost and need help!" The voice began to fade and Ciel's hope was fading along with it. There's no way that he imagined a voice, it was there. It had to be. When was the next chance he would have to be saved by some stranger casually walking by? Would there be any more strangers? The boy began to panic and struggled against his restraint, ignoring the burning sensation against his tender, raw wrists. He wiggled around on the ground, kicking and tossing his body about.
"Hey now, quit that, you'll hurt yourself." A timid voice muttered. Ciel's body froze in shock and disbelief. There was somebody there, somebody to save him. Had they heard his screams? It didn't matter at this point; all he could focus on was his freedom. He glanced over to where the voice had emerged from in the darkness and smiled.
"Oh thank God. Please, help me. I'm tied up and can't get free." Ciel choked out, feeling all of that dread and worry leaving his body. Everything was going to be fine now that someone was really there to release him.
"I-I can't." The childish sounding voice mumbled, sounding apologetic and sad.
"Well, why not?" Ciel inquired, taken aback by the boy's response and quite upset by it as well. Not wanting to scare off the childish sounding being hiding in the dark with him, Ciel remained calm and composed, trying not to sound angry or desperate, even though he was.
"I'm not allowed. I'll get in trouble if I let the pretty one go." The boy mumbled. What he said sounded like a line he had rehearsed over and over in his mind. Someone must have told the boy numerous times not to let him go. But who, and why?
"Well, can you at least turn the lights on so I can see? I'm scared of the dark you know." Ciel whispered, trying to gain some kind of sympathy from the boy. He figured if he could at least see where they were, he could try to figure out a way to escape from the hellish hole he was trapped in.
The two sat in silence for a few minutes. Ciel began to worry, not hearing a single word or sound coming from where the boy had been placed in the room just moments before. Had he left, was he thinking about granting Ciel's request? The tangled boy felt his heart beating relentlessly; pounding so loud he swore he could hear it echoing off of the walls. Suddenly, a sound was finally made by the boy. It sounded like the chair he must have been sitting in was being scratched against the floor. Ciel listened to his footsteps quietly walking around the room and he heard a sudden click then a loud slam. He was gone.
"No. This isn't happening." The one person Ciel could rely on was now gone. Granted he was in ruse with the people who had kidnapped him, but he was a potential asset. Ciel cursed and began to writhe around on the floor once more, twisting his wrists around in the tightly bound rope and kicking his tied feet back and forth.
A moment later, a flickering light illuminated the room with a dull glow. It flickered a few more times before finally settling down. Ciel's vision was blurred and his head began to spin at the suddenness of the light. He tightly shut his eyes and turned his head towards the chilled floor, trying to block out the brightness. After a minute or so, Ciel gradually allowed his eyes to flutter open. The light wasn't nearly as harsh on his eyes now and he could make out most his surroundings.
The entire room was encased in smooth cement. There was nothing but a chair in the corner occupying the cube shaped room. Ciel's eyes examined the chair for a moment and gazed at the absence of a body. There must have been a body there just minutes before. Where the hell did it go?
Ciel slowly began to peel his body off of the stone cold floor, feeling unbelievably light headed and tired. His muscles ached and his bones felt stiff.
"Jesus, how long have I been here for?" The boy murmured to himself.
With that, a loud clicking sound caught Ciel's attention and the boy's blue eyes focused themselves on a barely noticeable door next to the chair in the room. A long shadow cast itself against the grey floor. The clicking of high heels echoed in the room and a soft wave of unstuffy air from outside of the room filled Ciel's lungs. The figure was adorned in a flashy outfit, fit for a night out.
"Hello Ciel." The woman's tender voice muttered in a tone Ciel was unfamiliar with. Her voice sounded nearly apologetic, with the slightest tinge of satisfaction.
"What am I doing here?" Ciel snapped.
"Rude. The proper response would have been, Hello ma'am." The woman smiled at Ciel. All the boy wanted to do was rip off the rope binding his hands together and smack the smug look off of her modeled face.
"Mind if I take a seat?" The woman gestured towards the chair and gave it a rather dissatisfied look.
"Never mind, I think I'll stand. Water?" She chirped, holding a bottle of water out towards Ciel, as if he could have reached out towards her to take it.
"My name is Carmen by the way." The woman stated, flashing a pearly white smile at Ciel.
The boy remained silent and kept his eyes fixated on the woman's face. His eyes were dark and filled with anger and confusion. He didn't know who this woman was or what business she had with him. All he knew was that he wanted nothing more than to beat her perfect face to a bloody pulp. The frightened feeling from before hadn't left his body, but was being masked by adrenaline fueled rage.
"Jeeze, you're so boring. You don't even say anything." The woman snarled, tossing the bottle of water down onto the floor in Ciel's direction.
"No personality. No spunk. Fucking nothing. Don't know what Sebastian even sees in you other than your pretty face." Ciel's eyes lit up for a moment at the mentioning of Sebastian's name.
"You know Sebastian? Where is he? Have you done something to him?" The boy felt his heart ache at the thought of anything being done to the one person in this world that he loved more than anything.
The woman smiled as she was finally able to get a rise out of Ciel and got him talking. She rolled her eyes and playfully waved her hand in front of her, as if shooing Ciel.
"Oh please, as if I could do anything to him. He's far too skilled for me to take on. At least, one on one that is. I mean, who could keep up with a speed demon?" The slender woman's words were beginning to confuse Ciel.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Oh?" The woman's tone changed dramatically. Her eyebrow was arched and her painted lips twisted upward into a wicked smile. She leaned back against the wall, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You mean you don't know?"
"Don't know what?" Ciel questioned, beginning to feel even more uneasy about the woman occupying the cell with him.
The woman smirked and she shook her head in amused disbelief. Her white teeth gleamed brightly even in the dully lit room as she smiled at Ciel.
"Oh, darling. Have I got a story for you."
