Belle woke up from her fainting spell; her head felt like a drum and her stomach was churning. She also noticed that she was in one of the castle parlors. A part of her wanted to get up to figure out what's going on, but the rest of her wanted to rest because of her pounding head. She decided to get up, but when she did, she started getting dizzy. She was losing her balance and started to fall backwards. She heard and felt something break when she she fell backwards into the wall. She also slid down the wall until she sat down onto the floor.
"Belle, are you okay?" Belle could tell that was Adam's voice, but she couldn't tell where it was coming from. Just then, she heard the door open.
"Adam?" she asked.
"I'm right here." He said, walking over to her. Adam had been standing guard by the parlor doors so that Belle wouldn't be disturbed...and also that Nanette didn't try to go after her again. "Are you all right?" He asked.
"I don't know," Belle answered, "my head hurts and my stomach is not happy with me. I also believe I broke something."
"It's just a vase; it's nothing important. How about I take you to your room." Adam said, "I know you don't want to be in there right now, but I would rather have you resting in there rather than here."
"I know," she groaned, "I'll need you to help me stand." Adam just nodded his head as he put his arms under Belle's back and her legs. Belle thought about making her point that he didn't have to carry her, but her head was pounding too much to do that.
Adam didn't care if his cousin, aunt or the other ranks saw him carrying Belle like this, Belle was more important than any kind of attention he may get.
"To be honest, Belle," Adam said, "I thought you fainted because my aunt said..."
"Pregnant?" Belle whispered, "The word alone isn't enough to get me worried, it's when I really am I may faint to the floor."
"Well, if that day does come, let me know."
"Why?" Belle asked.
"So I can faint with you." Adam chuckled.
"Very funny, Adam."
When Adam got to Belle's room, he put Belle back down on her feet so he could open the door. When he did, the room was very dark.
"Hmm, it's still as dark as I left it." Belle said, "I'm not too surprised." Adam just held Belle's hand as he led her into her room. He was getting a sense of dread when he walked in.
"Belle, I'm starting to dread your room."
"I know, now you know why I didn't like coming back in here." She said, "I wouldn't be surprised if something...or someone is in here." Just then, the door slammed shut, both of them turned around.
There was Lady Veronica, Belle's mother, in front of the closed door and, by the looks of her face, she did not look too happy.
"Mother?"
"How dare you leave this room without letting me know!" Veronica said frustrated.
"I didn't see it as important." Belle said, Adam didn't want any part of what Belle and her mother were talking about. He was thinking of leaving the room, but Veronica was still blocking the door. Veronica turned her eyes over at Adam.
"You're just like your mother!" She told Adam, "A risk-taker!"
"What do you mean?" he asked in a nervous voice.
"Don't even try to hide it!" Veronica said with a sneaky smile, "A little birdie told me that you brought my little girl to your bed." Nothing could express how embarrassed Belle and Adam were. In fact, Belle was both embarrassed and angry.
"How-dare-you-spy on us!" Belle said angrily, the smile on Veronica's face disappeared. Now Veronica was now a little fearful of her daughter.
"Belle, just-hear me out." She said.
"Absolutely NOT!" Belle said with more anger in her voice, now even Adam was getting afraid of her. "Adam," she added, "leave...NOW."
"I'm...not leaving you with the look of death in your eyes!" he said; he then turned to Veronica. "You had not right to invade our privacy like that!"
"To clear things up," Veronica said, "I didn't invade it. An old acquaintance of mine caught you and told me, which I can't believe she did."
"Wait a minute," Belle quickly said, "it wasn't your idea?"
"Absolutely not," Veronica pushed, "I'll admit that I can't believe the two of you took that step, but I would rather have heard it from you two rather than Citron."
"That little traitor!" Adam said, hitting the top of Belle's bed.
"You can say that again." Belle said, "Here Chaux said she wasn't that bad."
"That's why the two of them are half-sisters." Veronica added, "I am sorry that I found out, but...there's another reason why I'm here...It's better than what you first heard."
"I hope so." Belle said.
"I got this from Lady Temps," Veronica said as she pulled out a box out from under her rainbow cloak, "She told me to give it to you." Belle gently took the box from her mother's hands and placed it on the bed. She removed the lid and looked inside.
"What is it, Belle?" Adam asked.
"Not sure," she answered, "Hold this please." Adam took the lid from Belle as she took out what was in the box.
It was a lime green dress, almost similar to Belle's gold dress, but this dress didn't have a frilly skirt. The skirt looked more like something from her pink dress, with vertical cream-colored stripes. There was a blood-red cloak that was tied around the collar. It was like the cape looked like Adam's capes he used to wear when he was a beast; the hood looked like Belle's hood from her black cape and hood, but instead of a button keeping it together, there was a black ribbon that went through small holes and tied into a bow at the collar. The back of the blood-red cloak was decorated with four-pointed stars in many colors. The inside of the cloak looked and felt like actual fur.
When Belle touched the inside of the cloak, the fur reminded her of Adam's fur when he was the Beast.
"Wow!" Veronica said looking at the dress, "Of all things that I could that Empress would do, this wasn't even on my mind."
"It...looks nice." Adam said.
"I really...don't know what to say." Belle said, laying the dress out on the bed. Just then, her stomach started to churn again. "Uh-oh!"
"Belle, what's wrong?" Adam quickly said, Belle burped and grabbed her stomach.
"Oh heavens!" Veronica quickly said as she pulled out a paper bag, "Belle, here!" Belle grabbed the paper bag...and lost her breakfast.
"Ugh!" Adam said looking away.
"You can say that again," Veronica said, also looking away, "you should've told me that you weren't feeling well."
"I was...feeling fine earlier." Belle said before she burped. "I don't know what's wrong."
"Belle, tell me what you did today," Veronica said, "since I already know what happened last night."
"Adam, you tell her." Belle said, going to the washroom. Veronica looked over at Adam.
"Well," he started, "we went down to breakfast, then we went outside with my aunt."
"Hmm, was there anything different today?"
"Belle got a little excited at breakfast because Chef Bouche made waffles instead of French toast. He doesn't make those very often. It was also a warm day today, considering that summer is almost here."
"Did Belle have anything to drink?" Veronica asked.
"Not much, she was too happy having the waffles to drink anything." Adam answered, Veronica then slapped her forehead.
"I know what's wrong with her." She said as Belle came out of the washroom. "Feeling any better?"
"Not really." Belle said, "My stomach is still upset."
"That's because you haven't been drinking enough." Veronica pushed, "The next time you have waffles, remember to drink something. Stomachs do not like being very hot...period. You not drinking anything at breakfast and going out in the hot weather, no wonder it's not cooperating."
"So...what you're saying is that Belle needs to drink something." Adam asked.
"Yes," Veronica answered, "but she needs so much at one time, her stomach will lose it again if she takes it one at a time, but...I do have something that make sure that doesn't happen."
"What mother?" Belle asked cautiously, Veronica put her hand under her cloak and pulled out a wine bottle.
"It's not wine if that's what you're thinking." She said.
"Then what is it?" Adam asked.
"A powerful liquid...that I call 'Rainbow Wine'. As I said, it's not actual wine, it's a medicine. I call it 'Rainbow Wine' because it can take different colors and be any kind of liquid you want. Two glasses of the stuff and Belle will back to her normal self."
"Mother, are you sure?" Belle asked as Veronica poured the Rainbow Wine in a glass, "It's...such a strange color."
"It's suppose to be strange color." She said, "Here you go." She handed the glass to Belle. Belle took it, but she was still uncertain. She decided to take it at one go. When she did, the taste was powerful.
"Heavens!" Belle said, with her tongue flailing in her mouth. "That stuff is strong!"
"Come on, one more!" Veronica said.
"I can't believe it!" Nanette said, she was with her daughter, Mystique, in her room of the castle. "That prince still wants to be with that...rat!"
"Mother, you can't get in the way of someone's decision!" Mystique said, reading one of her beauty books.
"Well, if you tried harder, Adam would be eating out of your hand by now!" Nanette said.
"I have no intention to be with him, even if he didn't have Belle."
"Fine then, if I can't get you to tried to get his attention, I'll use...someone else!" Nanette said with an evil smile.
"Mother, you can't serious!" Mystique quickly said, putting her book aside. "You can't bring Fantina and Karlitis into this!"
"I already did, if you won't do as I say, I'll get your older sister and brother to do it!"
"Remember what happened when you tried to get Fantina to separate Prince Sagittarius and Lady Sapphire?" Mystique asked, "Sagittarius was so angry with her and you that he threw Fantina in his castle dungeon until you got her out!"
"It won't happen again," Nanette said, "this plan is much different than that one."
"But mother, the princes love Sapphire and Belle!"
"Don't you dare 'but mother' me!" Nanette said in an angry tone, "Henrietta took Randolph away from me; I lost everything because of her. Randolph was suppose to marry me, but his stupid love for Henrietta got in the way. I'll make sure I get my revenge...and if I hear you trying to stop it, Mystique, I'll make sure I cut you off!" Mystique couldn't believe her mother's intentions; she didn't know what she could do. Mystique knew that the Queen wouldn't believe her, just about everyone assumes that Mystique's like her mother, when in reality she isn't. Mystique wasn't sure on how, but she knew deep inside that she had to warn Sagittarius, Sapphire, Adam and Belle about her mother's plans.
Not sure that waffles existed back then, but they're a treat for me.
