Mini Soldier

-TONY-

Tony was done in his lab, hiding away from the awful memory of seeing the look of hurt and pain on Steve's face the morning he had woken from being drunk the day before. Tony knew that in some ways, he was fully there that night. He had told Steve he loved him and it was true. Tony Stark loved Steve Rogers. However, the world was cruel. They couldn't be open or anything. So that was when Natasha entered. "Yo Stark, can I talk to you?" She asked, though he could tell it was a more 'I'm gonna talk and you're going to listen anyway' kinda way.

"Sure," Tony said as he walked over towards Natasha. "What's up?"

"Why are you such a dick?" Natasha asked before she slapped him across the face. "Steve put himself out there, telling you he loves you and you break his heart like that!? How can you even look at yourself? I can't believe you!"

Tony rubbed his face as he glared slightly. "I didn't break his heart—"

"Yes you did. I told him about the time you loved him, remember? Well I told him. He was so happy and went to you. He loves you Tony!" Natasha shouted at him.

Tony did everything not to break. "Because guys like me don't get people like Steve!"

She didn't move and watched him carefully. "So you think its okay to break their hearts? That's why 'guys like you' end up alone. Because you push people like Steve away." She said firmly.

Why do I feel like shit? I know I totally broke Steve but he hurt me! Where the hell did he get the idea that we were going to get married? Guys like me; we don't get those happy endings. We just don't. Never had and never will.

Tony pushed the thoughts from his mind as he went in search yet again for the super soldier. He hadn't seen or heard anything from Steve since that morning. Steve had found some way to keep from getting seen by him and it was hurting so Tony found Bruce in the lab, with none other than Steve. His mouth fell open and he went forward. "Steve—"

Steve looked over like a deer caught in front of a car. His eyes were wide and was that fear in them? Tony felt hurt. "T-Tony?" he gulped.

"Steve— can I talk to you?" Tony asked.

The blond shook his head. "What are you doing here?"

"Looking for you!" the brunette explained with so much light in his eyes. "But besides that, why are you running from me?"

Steve narrowed his eyes as he sat up; covering his belly and Tony noticed just how big it was getting. Does that mean Steve is actually pregnant? He wondered. "Tony, not right now! I can't face—"

"Please Steve—"

"Tony," He looked over at Bruce. "This isn't a great time."

That was when he noticed that they were looking at a picture of something gray and then he knew, that was a baby! Was that baby in Steve's belly? HOLY SHIT! That baby had two heads! "Is that the baby?" Tony asked quietly.

Bruce and Steve share a look before Steve nodded, letting Bruce speak. Bruce turned to his friend. "There are two babies,"

"Twins?" he was in awe.

Steve nodded. "Yeah… like it matters to you anyway, you don't want them."

"How do you know?" Tony asked, crossing his arms.

"You told me." Steve replied looking away from Tony, as his heart broke at the memory he had of that morning. "You told me you didn't want any part to do with my 'lies'. You told me all kinds of mean things so please understand why I'd think that!"

Tony sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Look Steve, I'm sorry. I should have—"

"I don't want to hear the lies Tony," Steve said calmly, "I can't handle this pain."

The brunette looked surprised and shocked but Bruce stepped forward. "Would you please leave the room? This could harm the twins."

Tony grumbled, "Fine." He turned and left.

Tony found Steve again a few days after he had found out that he really was going to be a dad. He noticed Steve was drawing in his sketch book so the man walked over. "Hey Steve,"

Steve looked up surprised and then blushed that cute captain blush. "Stark,"

"Are we really back to last names?" Tony asked, kinda upset and hurt. He liked it when Steve said his name all feisty. It sounded actually pretty damn hot.

The blond nodded. "Yes, as it is respectful is it not? And that's what you want from me, respect."

"That isn't what I want from you,"

"Then what is?"

"Forgiveness," Tony replied.

Steve looked at him bewilded. "Huh?"

"I want your forgiveness Cap. I miss our time together, hanging out, ya know? Sure I maybe a complete asshole but—"

"I get it." Steve said quietly. "You were scared, weren't you?"

Tony nodded quickly.

The blond looked down at the book in his lap. "I'm scared too, you know. I didn't have a father figure for me to look up to. My father, he died during the war before I was born. So I only had my mom but she passed away during a bombing when I was a young teen." He said quietly. Tony looked shocked. "I know it's hard to believe but I was scared. I was scared because no one wanted me; I was sick and ill all the time. Who would want a kid that could very easily die? Who could love me? So I was scared I'd end up alone."

The genus carefully took a sit beside him. "I'm scared too. I never had a father figure in my life."

"I thought Howard—"

"He was a complete drunk. When he wasn't drunk, he was working away in his lab." Tony said quickly with a nervous edge. "He beat me most times… He beat me badly when he found out I was bi a long time ago. He told me I had to only like women or I'd go to hell. He said I was so messed up and I wasn't his son. I wasn't Steve Rogers, I wasn't Captain America. He once asked me when he was really drunk, why I wasn't like Captain America. What he had done wrong to have a son like me…"

"Oh God Tony— I'm so sorry…" Steve said.

He shrugged. "It doesn't matter. So that's why I was scared. I won't be a good dad Steve, but I'm willing to try."

Steve smiled and wrapped his arms around Tony's waist. "Do you really mean that?"

"Yes,"

"Then I'm willing to try and forgive you."

"Thank you."

Steve had been having a total whiny all about me day. Most of the Avengers had hid away from the Captain, though Nat and Clint had a mission and were away, but Bruce and Thor stayed hidden in their rooms. Tony found him sitting in front of the TV, eating a big bucket of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Steve had been trying but there was still a huge wall between them. Some of which was because Tony was just a huge dick most of the time and because of how he had treated Steve when they woke up to one another.

"Hey Steve," Tony called as he walked over towards his best friend— were they even friends now? They had slept together and it would seem they were going to be daddies together. "Are you gonna eat all that ice cream by yourself?"

The blond looked up from the movie, Never Been Kissed, and frowned. "Are you calling me fat?"

"Y— no, I mean no!" Tony quickly caught himself in a teasing manner. "I meant no."

"Sure," Steve said bitterly. His eyes went back to the movie as Tony stood there awkwardly. He was about to say something when Steve asked, "Wanna sit down and watch this with me?"

"Sure!" Tony will take anything for the chance to get all of Steve's forgiveness. He plopped down beside the other man and looked over at the half eaten ice cream. "Is something on your mind?"

Steve slowly nodded. "Yeah— we're having twins Tony, and I don't like how we're acting around each other. Like someone's a time bomb. Is that even healthy?"

Tony shook his head. "I guess not, but so what if we're having twins?"

"We don't have names ya know," Steve muttered as he forgot about the movie. "And our children can't be nameless!"

The other man grumbled. "Okay so how about for boys, Steve Jr and Tony Jr. If they're girls, Stephanie and Antonia, sound good?"

"Antonia? Huh?" Steve looked over at him shocked.

Tony nodded, "Yeah Antonia! Is there a problem? If so, we could just call her Toni for short,"

Steve shook his head as he frowned, "As much as Antonia sounds interesting, its way too close to your name Tony." Steve said quickly and quietly.

Tony shot him a glare. "I like Antonia thank you very much, and I like the names we picked!"

"You mean you picked!" Steve pointed out.

"You're acting like a woman Steve!"

"And you're acting like a child, Tony!"

The two glare at one another till Steve got to his feet and stormed out of the room. So much for baby names… Tony thought with a sigh.

~ooOoo~

"Hey Natasha, can I talk to you?"

One moment Tony was watching in front of him and then he heard something turned around and found nothing and then he was against the wall. He jumped but it was only Natasha and Clint. "What do you want, Stark?" Clint asked, narrowing his eyes.

"I wanna talk to Natasha and last time I checked, you're a guy." Tony growled.

Natasha walked over to him and crossed her arms. "What do you need?"

"Why does Steve trust you so much?"

She went quiet before nodding to Clint to leave. He left. Her eyes went to Tony as he rubbed his wrists. "He trusts me because I don't treat him like a piece of meat or a toy."

Tony was quiet. "Are you pulling my leg?"

She shook her head. "Not at all,"

"So if I don't treat him like a toy or meat, he'll be fine with me naming the twins?" Tony asked.

Natasha laughed. "He'll take the names you want into thought but naming them? Nah. That's his job; he is the one carrying them."

Tony huffed, "So?"

"So? Steve's the mom, and he is the one giving up his body for those kids," Natasha pointed out with a flick of her hand. She rolled her eyes at Tony's reaction which was a huff. "And besides that, he's also the one who'll be most likely raising the two."

"What!? What does that even mean!?" Tony shouted.

Nat gave him a look that said, are you kidding me? "Do you see yourself raising two babies with a man you can barely stand?"

"No—"

"Do you see yourself pushing off other women— Pepper mostly— and putting them off to spend time with either the man who is carrying your offspring or the offspring themselves?" Natasha asked.

"No—"

"My point," Natasha said with a shrug. "You aren't ready for this or Steve so yes he's not going to let you name the twins."

Tony frowned. "You know full well that I love Steve…"

"Just not enough to drop the whole playboy act, am I right? Or is that love not enough to come out of the closet and tell the world you love a man, no less is that man Captain America?" She pointed out.

He frowned further. "Natasha—"

"I'm only saying Tony," She said quietly, calmly. "You're not ready for Steve or the twins."

She walked away. "Well then I'm gonna have to try, that's better than nothing…. I will become ready for them!"
