Kim woke up alone on the bed. Jack must have gone hunting. She thought. She suddenly remember all of the events that have happened the previous day. Oh no! Poor Alex... My baby sister! Kim thought. Tears started running down her already tear stained face. Kim tried to stop and wiped away the tears. She had to be strong. For Alex and for her parents.

Kim got up and went to the bathroom. She looked in the mirror and nearly jumped five feet in the air! She looked horrifying! Kim brushed her teeth and hopped in the shower. She shampooed but didn't even bother to condition. What a bad girl...

Kim got out of the shower and walked to her closet. She opened it up and was about to pick out dull sweats and a boring t-shirt but decided against it because she was visiting Alex and wanted to be in the best mood possible for her. She took out a pair of dark skinny jeans and a neon green off the shoulder crop top with a white tank top under it. No need to show belly button.

She walked to her mirror and blow dried her hair. She brushed it out and left it natural. Kim didn't even bother with makeup. Not even lip gloss to make her lips look not chapped. She walked down the stairs to smell the wonderful aroma of... pancakes? She went into the kitchen. "Aunt Ella!" She cried out.

Ella shot her head up and saw a fragile looking Kim. "Oh, honey!" Ella ran to Kim and gave her a tight hug that nearly squeezed the guts out of her. Thats when the tears started flowing out again. She couldn't hold them in. Kim hugged back equally as tight and sobbed. Ella also let the floodgates open. They both just held each other and sobbed. "Why did this have to happen? Why me? Why to Alex? Aunt Ella I love her so much!" Kim sobbed. Ella rubbed circles on Kim's back to try and calm her down, while she cried and sobbed herself. "I know, sweetie. Everything will be okay. I promise." Ella said between cries.

Ella let go and wiped away her tears. She then wiped Kim's tears too. "Have some breakfast. I made your favorite. Pancakes!" Ella said trying to be enthusiastic. "I'm not so hungry, Aunt Ella. I don't feel like eating." Kim said, sounding depressed. "Oh come on, honey! Jack told me that you didn't eat dinner, either. I met him on the way into the house, he was coming out. You need to eat properly. I know that you don't want to eat, trust me I don't either. But you have to stay strong and healthy." Ella said.

"You need to lead a strong and healthy life. For your parents. And for Alex." Ella continued, a single tear running down her cheek. She quickly wiped it away hoping Kim didn't see. But she did. "I love you, Aunt Ella." Kim said. "I love you more, sweetie. Now eat your breakfast or it will get cold!" Ella exclaimed. They both were trying to be strong. But they were both broken on the inside. They both knew it. But chose to ignore it.

The doorbell rang, making Kim jump because it was so sudden. Ella went to answer it. Kim stayed in the kitchen. "Dave!" Kim heard her Aunt Ella exclaim. It was Dave. Ella's boyfriend. They have been dating for four years, since Ella was twenty-one and Dave was twenty-two. They both walked into the kitchen. Dave saw me and smiled. Kim liked Dave. He was pretty nice to her. Like a father figure. He has been away the past few weeks, visiting his parents.

"Hey, Kim! How's it going? You are still looking as beautiful as ever." Dave said enthusiastically. That's what she liked about Dave. He always tried to be positive no matter what the situation. Then he came and sit next to Kim and turned his face serious. "How are you holding up, honey?" He asked.

"I'm fine, Dave." She said quietly with a small, sad smile. He put a hand on my shoulder. "Everything will be just fine. Everything happens for a reason, okay Kimmers?" He said with a smile. I tried to hold in the tears. "I know." I said with a quivery voice. He got up and went into the living room. Aunt Ella turned back. "I have some important work to attend to this morning. I'll meet you at the Hospital around 12:45, okay?" She said softly. Kim just nodded. Aunt Ella then left the kitchen. It was currently 8:30. Wow I woke up early. She thought.

Kim quickly finished my breakfast, wanting to get to Alex as fast as she can so that Ishe doesn't waste anytime not being with her. Kim grabbed her bag and went out the door. She locked it and started walking to the bus stop, thinking Jack would just meet me at the hospital. She didn't want to bother him by calling him to pick her up. As Kim was walking, a black porche came and stopped next to her. Jack. She thought. The window rolled down. "Hop in, Kimmy." Jack said. She gave him a smile and opened the door. Kim got in and made sure to buckle in.

She took a deep breathe. Jack started the engine and started driving. He was going a little fast... "J-Jack!" He immediately stopped. "What is it, Kim? Are you hurt?" He asked. "I'm sorry it's just... Can you drive a little slower, please? I-I'm still scared ab-abou-" Kim was cut off. "I'm sorry, Kim. I forgot. I was too busy thinking about Alex that I couldn't hear your thoughts. It's my fault. I will slow down." He said softly. The teenage girl gave him a small smile, even though she was sobbing her little heart out on the inside. "Thanks." She murmured quietly.

The couple reached the hospital in silence. It was the second day. Alex only had one more day left. Barely. Tears started spilling out of Kim's eyes. Jack looked over after he parked. He brought his hand up to the girl's chin. He gave her a small kiss on the forehead. "Everything will be alright, Kimmy. Things will be just fine. Alex will be in a better place." Jack said. He wiped away the girl's tears. "Lets go in." Kim said. Jack nodded and got out of the car. Kim also got out and followed him into the white building. No words were said. They stayed in a comfortable silence.

They walked into the elevator and pressed floor six. "Don't worry, Kim. Everything will be just fine." Jack said, reading Kim's thoughts. Kim let out a single tear and held Jack's hand for reassurance. She wiped away her tear quickly. A ding was heard and they walked out of the elevator. They walked straight and turned the corner to get to Alex's room. Dr. Andrew stood outside of the door, talking to Kim's grandparents.

He had a look of sadness, sorrow and pity in his eyes. Kim got a tingly feeling in her stomach. Not the kind she gets when Jack kisses her, but the bad kind. The kind that you get when something bad is about to happen. Kim started worrying like there was no tomorrow. They got to the dreaded moment of going up to the doctor. Her grandparents turned around hearing footsteps with tears flowing down from their old, warn out eyes. The doctor turned to Kim and Jack. "I'm sorry." Were the words that came out of her mouth. The two words that Kim had been dreading ever since she got to the hospital.
