Read and review!

It had been Jack's idea. She had mentioned not being able to actually test her control during special circumstances, so he had come up with the idea of the face off. It was going to be hard, since she had to control her own power, as well as defend herself against his.

So here they were, standing at the opposite ends of the garden they usually practiced in.

Elsa looked determined.

He fired first.

He sent an army of horses her way, and she panicked at first. She knew Jack was ready to stop it if she felt weak, but she wasn't going to let that happen. She closed her eyes and summoned her mental strength. Olaf came into her mind, and instantly, she felt the horses melt away into nothingness.

"That was a good start. Keep going."

She opened her eyes and got ready. This time, it was an avalanche, hurtling towards her at great speed. Her mind remained calm as she formed a wall of ice around herself and concentrated on dissipating the wall of snow coming towards her. She succeeded.

She wore a triumphant smile on her face as she awaited her next challenge. She could make out Jack's proud smile as he looked at her from all the way across the garden, and it fueled her spirit.

But then, he conjured up her greatest weakness : a hailstorm. She hadn't been control one when she was alone so far; there had always been someone she loved near her. I can do this, she thought. She closed her eyes, and she felt the strong winds pushing down against her. She sought out her confidence, and surprisingly, the image her mind chose was what she had seen last: Jack's smile. She thought about how patient he was, putting up with all of her tantrums. But then, her mind wandered around what happened the last time she couldn't control a storm, the frozen town, her sister...and she could feel hatred, towards herself, burning inside her like a fire.

The winds multiplied and she felt the hard ice pelting down on her like stones. She sank to the ground, because suddenly, all of her strength had left her.

"Elsa! Elsa, what's wrong? Do you want me to stop it?"

Through the storm, she could make out Jack flying towards her and then wrap her up in his arms.

She shook her head.

He tightened her against his chest, and she felt his steady heartbeat. She focused on Jack's warmth, and tried to pass it on to the coldness around her.

Slowly, she felt the winds subside. The hail stopped, and the sky cleared.

"That was close. But you did it! Congratulations!" He was bursting with pride, and Elsa smiled back with a renewed strength. He helped her up, and declared the end of their session.

"See you tomorrow," he smiled.

She nodded, and looked on as he flew away to who knows where. She felt a strange happiness bubble up inside her, and she found herself humming as she went back towards the castle.
