She hadn't really taken it seriously, but the feeling was getting harder to ignore. Whenever he was around her, she was happy, laughing out loud. He always made her smile with his little surprises, a little ice butterfly in her room, or a soft snowfall when she was stressed out. He was really easy to talk to, and she often found herself revealing to him, her hopes and dreams. She also found herself missing him on lonely nights, and she would lay awake in her bed, thinking of his smile. And during those times, something remarkable always happened.
The moon shined a little brighter, almost reminding her that it was there, and she was strangely comforted by its presence.
And when she was with him, she caught herself memorizing every detail about him. The way his strong fingers curled around his staff, the way his mouth formed that hypnotic one-sided smile.
Elsa looked at his hands curiously as he skillfully conjured up a bunny out of solid ice and fed life into it. The bunny hopped out of his hands and bound towards her, making her squeal like a child. It hopped in a neat circle around her, and rose towards the sky, then melted into the air.
"Do you think you can do that?," Jack was smiling as he looked at her still awed expression.
"Well..I created Olaf, but I'm not sure how I gave him life."
"Ok, then create the animal form, and we'll try the rest together."
She closed her eyes and thought of a bunny. She brought her hands up, and she could feel her thoughts flowing out of her finger tips. And finally, she felt four small paws resting on her palms. She smiled. She felt Jack come up to her, and slowly cradle her hands in his. She was hit with a tornado of memories, the first time he touched her, on their first day together, all their talking and laughing, his smile, the warmth of his hands, seeping into her skin even now...
"Elsa..."
She opened her eyes to see the bunny twitching its nose and sniffing the air. Only now, it wasn't made of ice...it was real! There was a real bunny on her hands, and she had created it, from ice!
She looked up at Jack, to thank him, to tell him that he was the one who had made this possible, but she couldn't find the words when she saw his face. He was looking at her so intensly, it made her gasp.
"What did you think about?" he was whispering.
"You..."
He was slowly leaning in, and she closed her eyes...and there was a high pitched squealing. They jumped apart. The bunny was still in her hands, and was not happy about getting squashed in the middle.
Elsa laughed. "We better release him into the woods."
Jack looked a bit shocked, but then shook his head, laughing. "I think you'd better keep him. We still don't know whether the magic is going to wear out."
She released it in the direction of the castle, and it hopped happily indoors. One of the servants would find it and take care of it.
Jack was behind her. "So...that was...amazing, you know."
She blushed. "I couldn't have done it without you."
"You would've figured it out eventually."
Elsa was surprised he'd say that. She began to explain that moment, her words gushing out.
"No...it was nothing like the things I have done before...I never would've done it if I was thinking about my sister or anyone else, you have no idea, the amount of love it took to...," she stopped, suddenly, realizing what she had said.
Jack's expression was unreadable. "You...love...?"
Of course, she should have realized earlier. This was love. This is what she had been lacking all this time. True love. And the right kind, at last.
She took a few tentative steps toward him, and he didn't hesitate. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. The last thing she saw was his amazing smile, before she felt his lips on hers. He was soft and gentle, like snowfall. Elsa's hazy mind reminded her of the fact that this was her first kiss. But it was not awkward, or weird. It was lovely, and she wanted more. She put her arms around his neck and slipped her fingers through his soft hair. Jack held her a bit tighter, and she felt as if she was rising of the ground...and it took her a moment to realize that she was rising off the ground. She pulled away suddenly, clutching tightly onto Jack's hoodie.
He laughed. "Don't worry, love, it's just what happens when I'm happy. I'm not going to let you go, you'll be fine."
She felt giddy. She smiled and rested her head against his heart, and felt his lips brush the top of her head.
She felt him whispering into her hair. "Do you want to get out of here?"
Her smile widened as she nodded yes. She felt him grin and they flew higher, and she knew that she would have enough love to last a lifetime.
