Chapter 4 - Learning

I surprised myself with how quickly this got posted and it took ages ^-^ Life is finally on my side! Oh, wait- more coursework!? *hit head off desk* I will be as quick as I can with the next chapters but don't hold me to anything.

"Chaos Control," Shadow managed. He only hoped it would work underwater. Finally, Shadow couldn't take it anymore. He finally fell into darkness...

Shadow woke up a short time later, with a splitting headache a enough blankets on him to make Blaze the cat feel warm. He was lying on an all to familiar couch... Sonic's. Shadow reluctantly shuffled from his stomach onto his side to get a better view of his surroundings. Why was he at Sonic's? Where was Sonic!? Shadow's head told him to shut up ad get some sleep but Shadow's mind ignored the request.

Sitting up slowly, Shadow spotted Rouge in the kitchen. Abigail must've gotten help or something. Rouge was washing up. Shadow stared at her as she washed.
"It's rude to stare y'know?" she said without even turning around.
Shadow smirked. "Yeah well, I didn't know that our little shopping trip was going to end so well. Where's Sonic?"

Rouge turned to look at her fellow agent. "He's fine, Shadow, thanks to you anyway. You chaos controlled at Abigail's feet. Nearly give the kid a heart attack. Luckily for you I rang you on your wrist communicator to see if Sonic was annoying you yet. Abigail answered and completely freaked out. Me and Tails came to get you straight away, fortunately for you we were nearby."

"Did you get the presents? There's no way I'm going shopping like that ever again!" Shadow grumbled.
Rouge laughed "Yeah, we got them. Sonic's on wrapping them up in the kitchen. Maybe you should go help?"
Shadow looked a little embarrassed. "I can't."

Rouge narrowed her eyes. "You can wrap presents, right?"
"Yeah, but they're no good. They look stupid."
Rouge shook her head. "Then we'll have to teach you, wont we? Come on."

With that, Rouge dragged him into the kitchen. Shadow would never be able to talk this down. Rouge shoved him into a chair.

Rouge found something easy to wrap: a box. Shadow would be able to wrap these, right?
"Alright, Shadow, watch and learn," she smirked.
Taking the wrapping paper, she wrapped it around the box and cut the paper from the roll. Easy enough. She held the two sides together and cellotaped them together, again, not impossible. Then it got fiddly. She carefully folded the sides down and created a triangular shape at the bottom of the box. She pulled it up and then cellotaped that. It was easy enough but still quite tricky.

Rouge turned the present around so it was aimed at Shadow.
"Your turn," she smiled.
Shadow rolled his eyes and finished the present. It took a few attempts to fold it but he eventually got it.
"Well, what do you know, you've done it," she cheered.

Sonic chuckled from behind the pile of presents. Shadow glared at him but Sonic was safe from his angry stare.
"Come on, Shadow, you're not done yet. I'll leave you the less fiddly boxes," he chuckled.
Shadow spotted a round tin of sweets and tossed it to Sonic. "Have fun," he muttered.

Sonic looked like he had been slapped in the face he hated those round tubs. He wasn't letting Shadow get away with this. He knew what would wipe that smirk off his face. He gave him a jar of sweets in the shape of a snowman.
"I cant leave you out can I?" he smirked. This time he wasn't so safe from Shadow's glare.

The two presents didn't turn out so well, but now the hedgehogs ended up in a competition of 'Who could wrap the toughest present?' Rouge sighed and didn't complain, for she got all the nice boxes to wrap. It felt quite Christmassy for once. She liked it, sitting down with Christmas songs in the background as she worked. Shadow wasn't very impressed but he did it anyway.

Well, they're not trying to kill each other at least, she thought with a smile.
