-"Processing some files" Really? Why can't you be normal and say something...I don't know...a little less formal?-
Emma challenged her, seeing what she would say in return. Hearing a knock on her door, Emma turned to see who was there.
"Yes?"
A pair of little brown eyes peak out from behind the door.
"Henry?! What are you doing her?" She asks nervously, thinking that Henry was ditching class.
"Um...it's lunch time." He says sheepishly, a little smile spreading on his face.
"Well come sit down then, what do you need?" She asks, smiling at him. He was a cute little boy, she had to give him that. He sat down in one of the bigger chairs and it practically swallows him whole.
Regina looked down at her phone, her smile fading. No, no, Kathryn was wrong. She couldn't be getting attached like that. Shaking her head, she puts the phone in her drawer.
"Damn..." She mumbles to herself, sitting her head in her hands. Remembering all the files she still has to look at on her computer, she groans and opens them up. Quickly reading through them, she hopes that Henry will get out of school soon. She transfers the files onto another place on her computer so she can send them out, and then she takes out her lunch.
"Are you ready for practice soon?" Henry asks Emma happily. She grins at his enthusiasm and nods.
"I am." She says, glancing down at her phone. She can't stop thinking about Regina. Why hasn't she replied yet?
"Why do you keep doing that?" Henry asks curiously.
Emma quickly looks back up at him.
"Doing what?" She asks, oblivious to what he was talking about.
"Looking at your phone like that, are you waiting for something?" He asks again.
"Hold on, let me take a picture of you." Emma says, getting an idea. She pulls out her phone and snaps a quick picture of Henry to send to Regina. That should get her attention if anything.
-look who I've got with me-
She sends it with the picture and hopes that it'll work, although she isn't quite sure why she's so desperate for Regina to reply.
Regina had gotten most of the files transferred when she heard her phone ding. She could barely hear it from inside the desk, but she head it none the less. Trying to ignore it, she sits there for a second. 'Don't you dare pick it up.' She tells herself in her head She reaches for the handle of the drawer. 'Don't!' But she can't help it and soon enough, the phone is in her hand again.
Seeing the picture, she smiles softly, but then she realizes that if he is with her then he isn't in class.
-Why isn't he in class?-
She sends it, anxious for a reply. Hopefully, there is a reasonable explanation to this. Emma seems quite unpredictable though, so it could be anything really.
-No worries, mother, he is eating lunch with me...not skipping class.-
Emma smirks once she has sent it, wondering how Regina will react to it. She was always so formal and strict, Emma just wanted her to loosen up a bit.
"Your mom says 'hey'" Emma says, looking back at Henry. He smiles softly.
"Why are you talking to her?" He asks curiously.
"I'm just being friendly, that's all." Saying that feels like a lie. It's true though, right? She's just being friendly.
Regina squints at the phone when she reads the message Emma sent.
-Good, I wouldn't want you getting him into any sort of trouble.-
That should knock her down a couple of pegs.
-Hey, he was the one that came to me.-
Emma responded swiftly, a little too swiftly she realized once she had sent it.
-I'm sure-
Regina sighed and set her phone down on her desk, running her hand through her hair, she wondered where this was even going to end up for her. Were they going to actually be friends?
