Alrighty then, one of the guest reviewers gave me this request, and vague as it was I decided to go with it because I found it intriguing.
You guys know how much I love Hurt!Bunny fics, and I intend to make this one my masterpiece of the Hurt!Bunny genre.
So here you go!
The rivalry between the Easter Bunny and the Groundhog was infamous, even more so that Aster's previous dislike for Jack Frost, and all the spirits knew just how much the two despised each other, but in truth they hadn't the slightest clue just how deep the hatred for the Easter Bunny ran within the Groundhog. In fact, not even the Groundhog knew how deep it ran. Today however would be the day he realized it though, for today was the day he would receive a visitor that would change his life, and Aster's, forever.
"Idiotic, inbred, ridiculous excuse for a Guardian," the groundhog mumbled to himself as he savagely cut into the wood stump before him "he doesn't even deserve the title, I got more believers than him, and almost all of mine are adults!"
Walking away from his latest wood carving the Groundhog, known as Alvern to his friends, gazed at the wood with a critical eye, one claw gently tapping his chin as he considered what shape it should take this time. Pursing his lips, he gave a nod "Maybe I should do another of what I would look like as a Guardian."
"Why waste your time carving out false representations of what you want instead of going to get it yourself."
Alvern spun around with a gasp, only to find the constellation Orion lounging on his couch "Y-You!" the animal sputtered "You're the one who shot Aster with an arrow, I remember 'cuz I watched the whole thing!"
"Oh?" Orion arched an elegant eyebrow "Good, then that saves me time explaining why I wish to have your help in getting revenge on that poor excuse for an overgrown rat."
Alvern sat back on his haunches, assessing his visitor "Yeah I know why, but the real question is, why you are talking to me about it?"
"The answer to that is simple," Orion sighed, casually picking at his perfectly manicured nails "I want to ensure nothing goes wrong, and I figured you wouldn't turn down an opportunity to show Aster just how pathetic he truly is."
"I don't know…" the Groundhog wavered, in truth he wasn't sure he wanted to hurt Aster. Sure they traded insults, but inflicting bodily harm? That was something he wasn't too sure about.
"Fine," Orion shrugged as he stood up and prepared to leave "I just thought you would like to have a chance for some well deserved justice, I mean considering that Manny chose a child over you to take the title of Guardian."
"Wait, what's Jack Frost got to do with any of this?" Alvern asked, his head cocking in confusion "I ain't got nothin' against the kid, we're on decent terms."
"Oh I'm not talking about Frost," Orion chuckled darkly, I'm talking about Bunny, he's only a child you know."
"Wha-…" The Groundhog paused before letting out a breathy laugh of disbelief "No he ain't, he's…he's an adult…right?"
"No…" Orion replied innocently, one finger tapping his chin as he feigned deep thought "No he's actually technically still only a teenager, not even twenty. So in reality, Manny chose a child over you to be a Guardian from the very beginning."
Alvern's jaw dropped as his temper began to rise "All this time," he muttered softly as his fur began to bristle angrily "all this time, and we none of us ever knew that Bunny, Mr. High and Mighty Easter Bunny Guardian of…of Hope, was actually just a snot nosed BRAT!"
"Which of course is pretty paltry considering you are the one who actually signals the beginning of spring," Orion murmured in agreement "Aster just runs around leaving hard boiled eggs for children to find under bushes and porches. It hardly compares."
"Precisely!" Alvern snarled "I'm older, wiser, and I'm the one who greets spring, not him!"
"Then do we have an agreement?" The constellation smirked, holding out a glowing pale hand for the Groundhog to shake.
"You bet we do!"
…
Bunny sat in his warren, nose twitching as he enjoyed one of the rare moments for a nap. Jack had just left, nagging him to get some rest now that Easter was over, and for once the rabbit complied. He did not however expect the visitors who would be 'gracing' his warren with their presence.
"Wakey, wakey sunshine," a voice purred.
Creaking one eye open, the fatigued rabbit gazed through bleary vision on three people standing in front of him "Wha-Who're you?" he slurred.
One of the blurred figures snorted in disgust "What, are you so high and mighty that you don't remember your fellow spirits?"
Aster rubbed his eyes vigorously with one paw, and then glanced back at his unwelcome guests "Orion?" he murmured in confusion "Alvern, and…Rayne? What are a constellation and two spirits of Spring doing here in my warren?"
"This…" Orion smirked before diving down and locking Bunny in a choke hold while the other two got to work tying his paws.
"Lemme go!" Aster growled, thrashing from side to side.
"Like we actually will if you tell us to?" Rayne spat sarcastically, his red hair bobbing as he struggled to grab kicking legs.
"True enough," Bunny grunted before drawing a leg back and kicking Rayne square in the face.
Jerking upward, the rabbit managed to hit Orion on the bottom of the chin with his head, and wriggled loose from the Groundhog. Hoping to his feet, the anthropomorphic rabbit scrambled away, and then ran at full tilt down the hill and towards the nearest bit of brush.
Orion rubbed his throbbing chin, merely smiled "If that's how you wish to play it, then so be it."
Grabbing his bow, and swooping it down in one smooth motion simultaneously notching an arrow that was dripping a black substance, the legendary hunter gave one final smirk before letting it fly.
In a macabre reenactment of their previous fight, the arrow flew across the grass and hit Aster in the hind leg. An animalistic screech echoed in the warren, accompanied by the cheers of his enemies, and in the blink of an eye Bunny found himself bound by rope and unable to move. Searing pain scorched his hind leg with white hot flame, and the Easter spirit gasped for air as he bit back the whimpers of pain threatening to slip from his lips.
"Wha-" he wheezed "What did ya ratbags do ta me?"
"Oh you mean the poison?" Rayne cackled maniacally.
"P-Poison?" Aster watched his eyesight begin to go fuzzy as it wobbled to and fro like a mirage.
"Yes," Alvern laughed "Poison, not sure where Orion got it, but it's some pretty potent stuff!"
"Actually I got it from Pitch," The constellation smiled.
"Pitch wouldn't…" Bunny whimpered as another wave of pain crashed through him "H-He couldn't…"
"Betray you?" Orion finished simply before pasting a facsimile of a consoling smile "Don't worry, he didn't. Actually I stole this lovely bit of poison from him, he had locked it away in a vault in his caverns, but I knew how to attain it and the 'Boogeyman' has no idea that it is even gone."
"You wanna know what it does?" Alvern whispered menacingly.
"I have a feelin' I'm gonna find out," Aster sneered.
"Indeed," the constellation chuckled softly "you certainly will, but allow me to explain more thoroughly just what this poison will do. It takes every feeling of courage and kills it, it is a poison created by Pitch when he was at his absolute darkest, and it essentially kills all hope within a person leaving them no more than an empty shell of the person they were, having been devoured alive by their fears."
"So what," Aster snarled up at his captors doing his best to fight the growing unease bubbling in his heart "yer just gonna leave me here tied up, and let me die of poison? Cowards."
"Oh no," Rayne giggled as he crouched down and poked Bunny repeatedly "our plan is so much more fun than that."
"What are ya gonna do ta me?" Aster whispered as he suddenly felt the smallest fringes of fear creep onto the edges of his mind.
Orion gave a dark chuckle before reaching down and roughly grabbing Aster by the scruff of his neck. Pulling him close, the man gave a smile loaded with insanity and malicious intent "Wouldn't you like to know?"
Dun dun dun!
