Hey guys! I am in a really cuddly mood tonight…so I thought I would write a lighthearted fluff piece that will help rot your teeth out and give a small prelude to the next arc ;-)
ENJOY!
Pitch often found himself musing over how strange it was that he was so comfortable in the North Pole, and today was no exception, especially since he was currently roaming its halls casually dodging the yetis as they worked and stepping over elves as the ran underneath his feet. In the few years that he had begun a truce with the guardians that evolved into a true friendship, the Boogeyman found himself at the Pole more often than not, if only to watch Bunny and Jack fight whilst enjoying a bowl of popcorn to accompany his new form of entertainment. It was a new feeling, though not an unwelcome one this emotion of contentment and even happiness, and Pitch could not deny that he was making the most of it before his greatest fear came true and his new friends cast him into outer darkness once again. However, the Boogeyman was intent on trying to keep this new life, for as long as possible.
Pitch was also beginning to pride himself in learning the quirks and character traits of the Guardians, something he gained through keen observation of them during their daily lives. This view of his former enemies was something new to the specter, he had never known that the Guardians of all people were capable of being so…normal.
North, for all his intimidating stature was very easily distracted, and the Boogeyman suspected the man to be one of the first cases of ADHD in the world. His love of toys was equal only to his love of baked goods, and Pitch would often find himself wandering into the kitchens late at night, only to find Nicholas St. North humming and dancing by himself while mixing some kind of concoction in a bowl. North was also a talented, though haphazard, wizard of sorts, and the Boogeyman was beginning to collect fond memories laughing at North as the large man turned his beard various colors in his attempt to perfect some new spell.
Sandy, he had known for many years, but never knew quite how lovable and mischievous the glowing man was and sometimes would join Sandy in one prank or another. The dream master, though silent, was a man of many words. He knew so much, and often would tell the Boogeyman tales with his pictures of times gone by, especially of a General from the Golden age. Pitch couldn't explain it, but he found an intense interest in the stories concerning this nameless General, and often would ask Sandy to tell him more about the man. He still had not found out what had ever happened to the general, Sandy was somewhat hesitant to say, but Pitch wanted to know the whole story and was anxious to hear.
Jack, Pitch chuckled as the boy came up, was the one who befuddled Pitch most. He was a typical sixteen year old, a rough and tough hellion who was determined to convince everyone just how masculine he was, and yet if you watched long enough you would see him contradict himself by doing some inane act that was at once childish and adorable. Pitch also had seen him at his weakest, and knew that being vulnerable was not something Jack enjoyed, but was more willing to show his vulnerability to the Guardians because they had earned that trust in him. Jack was surprisingly a bookworm, and spent many summer hours in the library, perched on one of the many shelves a stack of books by his side. An incurable prankster, mischievous, and fun loving to a fault, Jack lived up to his role as the Guardian of Fun; however he was proving to be a deep thinker, and unexpectedly philosophical on days when he was stuck inside with nothing to do save stare out a window. Though the Winter child was quick to cure himself of those particular moments. Jack was the first to overlook Pitch's status as hated enemy, and extend a hand of friendship, something that Pitch would not soon forget.
Bunny, Aster to those who knew him best, was someone that honestly made the Boogeyman shake his head with amusement. Tough, a true warrior, masculinity as an alpha male vibrated from his very being, however he would often contradict himself by acting like a teenager when Jack pressed just the right buttons and caused the Pooka to lose his cool. Aster thought no one knew, but Pitch had watched from the shadows and seen the warrior indulge in moments of sheer adolescent enjoyment of a hidden comic book, or laying on his stomach sketching out pictures of warrior from down through the ages. It amused Pitch to no end how the rabbit would act like a wise old man who would never be caught dead act immaturely, but when no one was looking, would sneak into the TV room and watch Saturday morning cartoons(if he wasn't being 'drug' into it by Jack).
And then Tooth…ah Tooth… fierce, beautiful, thoughtful, kind, intelligent, and yet adorably airheaded. He could imagine taking her shopping, and letting her go crazy in her trademark squeals and giggles. The Boogeyman smirked at the image, and gave a decisive nod, oh yes, that was something he intended to make good on in the near future. Tilting his head, the specter recalled more tidbits about the fairy, before suddenly stopping in his tracks and gaping in shock. Before him stood the very person he had been thinking about, standing in the middle of a glacial wonderland, a mop in her hands and a steaming bucket of hot water, her face fuming as she scrubbed at the ice. Stifling the snicker, the dark figure approached the woman, cocking his head in curiosity.
"Dare I ask what happened?"
The fairy cast a furious glance up at the man standing before her and scowled "You might not want to," she hissed "because I might lose all composure just reiterating."
"Well then how about I venture a hypothesis?" Pitch said struggling not to laugh as he did a slow turn tapping his chin with one finger "I dare say Watson," he spoke an over exaggerated cockney accent marring his already British tone "it is simple to deduce that the ice points to a flamboyant winter spirit, and the bunny tracks mark him being chased by an obnoxious older brother."
"My good sir," Tooth giggled leaning against the mop for support "how DO you figure these things out?"
"Elementary my dear," The Boogeyman replied with a rakish wink eliciting another laugh from the fairy.
"Well at any rate you are correct," Tooth sighed as she turned her attention back to the ice "this is all Jack and Bunny's fault."
Toothiana swung the mop around to place it in the bucket and get another dose of hot water, but her delicate feet slipped on the ice, causing her arms to flail as she struggled to keep her balance. Pitch dove forward, catching her and bracing her against his chest, holding the woman delicately in his arms. Tooth blushed, but found herself gripping Pitch as her feet skidded once again on the slippery surface.
"Thank you," she said quietly, looking down at the floor with an embarrassed gaze.
"No problem," the man chuckled "though I can't help but wonder why you aren't flying?"
The fairy let out an aggravated sigh "Fly by frost, my wings were grazed by Jack's winter magic, and now I have to wait for them to thaw naturally."
"Ah," Pitch intoned in understanding before swooping down and picking the fairy up holding her bridal style "shall I give you a lift?"
"B-But, I need to…f-f-finish….cleaning!" The warrior queen stammered, unnerved by the sudden closeness of Pitch's person.
"First of all," the Boogeyman said one eyebrow raised with amusement at the fairy's adorable discomfort at her current position "the yetis will take care of it, you shouldn't have to, and secondly, wouldn't cleaning up the ice and being cold keep your wings from thawing and cause further damage to their tissue?"
Toothiana's mouth closed with a snap, and she gave a small pout before tossing her head regally "Fine," she said with a flick of her hand and speaking in a snobbish tone "take me to the library!"
"As you wish milady," Pitch chuckled.
Turning, the man prepared to carry the tooth fairy up the stairs, but unfortunately his foot hit a patch of rather slippery ice resulting in the specter skidding across the floor. His upper body writhed and wiggled as he tried in vain to stay upright, while Toothiana squealed in laughter her arms firmly wrapped around the dark man's neck. Inevitably though Pitch soon found himself slipping hard, and flying up into the air gaining a couple second of hang time, before falling onto his rear and back with Tooth flying up only to fall on top of him. The fairy was gasping for air, her frame shaking with uproarious laughter, one hand helplessly slapping Pitch's chest as they lay on the floor. The man however was winded, and was gasping for air in order to breathe.
"T-Tooth," he wheezed, "you-you're hea-heavier…than you look."
Tooth gave a mock affronted gasp and playfully punched Pitch on the arm "You jerk!" she giggled "You don't tell a woman that's she's heavy!"
"I can tell you what I bloody well want," Pitch coughed as laughter strangled his speech "especially when your elbow pile drives my sternum and results in me not being able to breathe!"
"What does that have to do with my weight!?" she said in an offended squeal.
"A lot, when your weight was what was behind the force of your elbow!"
"Oh shut up," Toothiana pouted as her nose crinkled in amusement and she began to slide off of Pitch and onto the ice "and help me get to safety."
"No thanks," Pitch replied tiredly from where he lay "I tried that once, and was injured for my efforts, I do not wish to try again."
"Stop being such a whiny baby!" Tooth guffawed as she slid on her stomach across the floor and grabbed Pitch's foot and began to drag her with him.
"Hey, that is unwanted physical contact!" Pitch cried pointing an accusatory finger at her "ABUSE! I claim abuse by the Tooth Fairy!"
The fairy found her body go limp as her laughter robbed her of all her strength, and she lay on the floor her face buried in the crook of one arm her shoulders shaking violently with the force of her guffaws "S-St-Stop m-making me l-lau-laugh!" she pleaded in a helpless tone.
"What is it with you Guardians and dragging me around to places I don't want to go," Pitch grumbled in a petulant voice "I can honestly say that I have a drug problem. Jack drug me around to the theatre, Bunny drags me around to play cards, and now you are dragging me across the floor. This is not conducive to a healthy psyche!"
"Ha-Have you ever," Tooth began, a snort of laughter exploding from her nostrils as she struggled to finish her statement before taking a deep breath and continuing "Have you ever been accused of actually HAVING a healthy psyche?"
The look Pitch gave her, one of quite thoughtfulness, only caused Tooth to melt into another round of laughter "I can't believe it," the Boogeyman said softly as he made his bottom lip quiver pitifully and his head fell back onto the ice in mock despair "my life has been a lie."
Tooth's shrieking laughter at Pitch's statement rung to the rafters, and the two lay on the ice, helpless against their mirth "Whe-when I get my hands on them," Tooth guffawed "I'm going to make them regret ever coming to the Pole today!"
"Agreed," Pitch gasped.
Eventually the two calmed, catching their breath as the laughter died down to quiet chuckles, and Pitch suddenly found a wry grin cracking his face. "Hey Tooth,"
"What?" she replied warily.
"Feel up to pulling a prank?"
A maniacal giggle floated across the space separating them, and Pitch smiled at the fairy's answer.
"Maaaybe."
So yeah, make sure you review, I'm very inexperienced at writing romantic fluff and don't really know how to do so.
