Someone was banging on my door. As I groggily sit up, I turn to look at myself in the mirror. Bad idea. My hair was sticking out in every direction and I had drool rolling down my chin.

More banging.

Wiping the drool off my face, I got up and proceeded to brush my hair. The racket got louder. Why was no one stopping this person? After brushing down the last of my wild hair, I trudged over to my door.

"Alright, alright." I grumbled, opening the door. "What—"

Slap!

"That took you long enough, you impudent peasant. How dare you keep the Queen of Nasods waiting? I am royalty!" A high pitched voice said.

"Holy El, what on Elrios—" I held my cheek tenderly. The girl was very small. Her hair was silver and long. She wore some kind of crown.

"Eve! Eve, oh there you are." Another person I didn't recognize jogged up to us. This guy...I think he's a guy, took Eve's arm and glanced at me briefly. He had blue eyes with pupils like dog paws and his blonde hair trailed down his back in a pony tail. His bangs were choppy and uneven and he has tufts of hair that were brown on the tips. They looked like a second pair of ears.

"You will not address me as Eve. I am the Queen of Nasods!" The girl, Eve raised her hand to slap the boy but he did something I failed to do, he caught her hand. But in my defense, it was seven in the morning and I had just woken up.

"Eve, what the hell are you doing? Who is this?" The boy asked, exasperated.

"Well, no one would escort me to my room so I had to find an escort. This palace really has horrible manners."

"Uh, I'm just gonna go now..." I smiled venomously and began to close my door.

"Wait!" He called.

I opened my door a crack again.

"I'm sorry if she caused you any trouble, she's kind of...loopy." The boy shyly scratched the back of his head. "Oh, I'm Chung by the way. Chung Seiker."

"Oh it's fine. All she did was wake me up and slap me. No biggie." I didn't even bother introducing myself.

"Oh no...did she really? I'm so, so sorry." Chung put his face in his hands. "You must be furious."

"I've had worse. But, I'm just gonna go and find some ice for my face. Nice meeting you." Not feeling like conversing any longer, I began to close the door one more time.

"Wait!" He called out. Again.

Sighing extra loudly for him to hear, I opened the door again.

"Once again, I'm so, so sorry. If it's possible, can we get your name?"

"Chung! Do not ask for the peasant's name!"

"Eve, be quiet."

"Do not tell me what to do! I am your queen!"

"Eve—"

"Rena. Rena Midori."

Then I slammed the door in their faces.

The next day, both of them were introduced to our institute. Eve as the psychopathic queen maniac and Chung as her personal caretaker. Eve's parents are apparently so rich that they can do that. Eve's last name is also Nasodian. Now I get why she says she is the "Queen of Nasods."

Chung seems to like hanging around me. Whether I want his company or not. I've been leaving my room more and more, being forced to...socialize.

Ew.

"So...do you have a thing for Eve?" I asked casually, examining my nails. Today was another one of those days where he knocked on my door and forced me to have dinner with him.

I watched him with mild amusement as he choked on his water.

"Don't be ridiculous."

"Why not? She's pretty."

"And insane."

"I thought insanity was just your type." I said innocently.

"Oh shut up. I've been with her since we were children. She's nuts."

"Nice to see you feel that way." A voice that I hadn't heard in weeks commented coolly.

Raven.

And Eve.

Oh no.

Eve looked like someone had hit her. Hard. But that look passed so fast, it was like it was never there. But I know what I saw. The little girl's face morphed into fake rage.

Slap!

"Chung, you will not speak about me like that! I will have you thrown out into the street, jobless. Now you will apologize properly to me. I expect a letter of absolute sincerity at my door by tomorrow. Now go reflect on what you did, you disrespectful fool!" Her last word faltered and cracked. With a weak hair toss, she stomped out of the room.

"Eve, wait!" Chung dashed after her.

Which left Raven and me alone.

This was not planned out very well.

"Your timing sucks." I blurted.

"I know." Raven sat down next to me on the couch. He was close enough that I could smell him. He smelled like soap and...and...manliness. Oh my El, I have a problem.

"Why are you even here?"

"Eve wanted me to escort her here."

"Seems about right."

Awkward silence. I took this time to glance at him. He had a plain black t-shirt on with jeans. His dark hair was slightly damp. He must've taken a shower. That was why he smelled like soap. His glasses slipped down to his nose and she could get a full sideways view of his eyes. They were golden.

"Why are you staring at me?" His soft voice echoed in my head and I began to swoon—swoon?

Rena! Get yourself together! He is your therapist!

"Asfgh—I'm not swooning—staring! Staring."

"Your rocking back and forth. Are you feeling okay?" Raven put his cold hand on my forehead.

"Fine. Feeling just fine. Well, I'm gonna go to bed. Good night." I said quickly and shuffled out of the room.

"You have an appointment tomorrow!" He called after me.

I gave him and quiet thumbs up and the moment he was out of an earshot, I fell to my knees and covered my mouth.

Wha—what was that!?
