Back in his room, the queen created shackles of ice to chain the admiral's wrists. The shackles led to the ground, hinged. He stared at his wrists, not even fighting back. The queen turned to leave the room.
"You loved me, didn't you?" the admiral asked.
Elsa froze.
"That's why it upset you when Anna thought I had proposed to her. And, why you demanded that I was the one who came up with you, specifically." he continued.
"I do not love you. Perhaps...I did. But, you don't really care for me. All you see is the monster." Elsa replied, coldly.
"When have I ever said that?"
Elsa turned and gave him a cold look. Then, she approached him and reached out to touch his face. The admiral, in fear, turned away. Elsa couldn't help but chuckle to herself.
"If you didn't see the monster, dear, you wouldn't turn away from me like that."
"I don't see a monster. I see my friend that I watched grow to become a young woman who should be taking her responsibility as queen. It's what your parents would've wanted."
Elsa looked down, digesting his words. But, she looked back at him with anger in her heart.
"I am a queen. I'm my own queen." Elsa said. "The people of Arendelle are ungrateful. I spared their lives and they don't care that I'm up on this mountain."
"You don't know that."
"Do you see Anna here?" Elsa snapped. "Not even she has come to see me!"
The admiral understood, but how could Anna face her sister after learning her secret and seeing her leave with death on her hands. He recalled the two guards that lost their lives to protect him.
Elsa reached out her hand and stroked his face. She marveled at how handsome he was. But, she also lamented on how he looked at her in fear.
"My parents kept me in my room for years. They said they were trying to protect me. Especially Anna. Now, others will pay for the choice they made to keep me away from the world."
"But, why? Why must I pay the price?" the admiral desperately wanted to know.
Elsa turned on her heel and walked towards the door, ignoring the admiral's question. This made the admiral angry and clench his fists. He walked towards her as far as the shackles would let him.
"Why do you treat people this way?" the admiral asked, loudly. "How could you leave Anna alone, without her only family? How could you keep me locked up here, when you clearly don't love me anymore?"
"I don't love you, and-"
"Then, release me! You have no further need of me!"
With her back to him, Elsa's eyes watered. Then, Hans understood.
"You're lonely." he realized. "You may have Olaf and your other snowmen, but they're not the same as talking to real people."
Although she had tears running her down her cheeks, the queen replied with a strong voice.
"I'm not lonely. You belong to me as my property." she said, coldly.
"Then, don't ever expect me to speak to you. You've refused my help and clearly don't see me as a person, but property. I'm just some thing that you own. Well, Your Majesty, you've gotten your wish. I will stay here forever and die and you'll have another's blood on your hands."
More and more tears came, but, the queen held her head high.
"Try to escape again, and I'll chain your feet too." she said, leaving the room and closing the door.
A/N: More to come!
