Hello everyone, so I'm starting the next arc which is going to be a lovey dovey arc, as per everyone's request. So yes, this is it…the arc where I give three people at once a love story.
Enjoy!
High up in the frozen sands and dunes of the moon landscape, tucked between two mountain peaks, a sparkling white castle made of star stone gleamed in the distance.
Within its luminescent halls there lived a being of light locked in the solitude of space, who watched the earth with detached silence. He was the man on the moon, the last member of the Royal Lunanoff family. He was also the founder of the Guardians of Childhood, and was responsible for giving the Guardians their new roles through recruiting them for his team.
Now MiM, or Manny to some, understood that the Guardians had some aught against him. He knew that bitterness had taken root in their hearts due to his…less then chatty nature, however he was hoping to make it up to them one by one, and the next on his list was Bunny. He had made reparations with Jack by making him a Guardian, and the Pooka had waited just as long, if not longer, for relief from his own heartache for a family.
MiM sighed, remembering the odd turn of events when Bunny had been turned into a human, and the Guardians became an even tighter knit family through the tough warrior finally learning how to shatter and trust his family to pick up the pieces, but even after that positive growth the rabbit still suffered through lonely nights where he would mourn his race. And so, even though he only had enough power to reawaken one soul, and it had taken three hundred years to regain his power after the last time he revived a lost life, MiM knew exactly who he was going to bring back, and hopefully this will show the Guardians that his intentions at rebuilding burned bridges was sincere.
Stardust arcing through the atmosphere of a long dead planet, it swirled around and around a grave surrounded by lilacs until a figure appeared, a female Pooka with snowy white fur, and lavender stripes spiraling across her body looking much like the vines and petals of a rose. As the magic dispersed, long eyelashes fluttered open to reveal purple orbs that were flecked with silver.
"Who…who am I?"
…
Aster lay stretched out on the couch, a comic book forgotten on the carpet, and a blanket kicked off to the side hanging off the arm of the couch near his feet and trailing on the floor. Soft snores drifted from his spot on the cushions, and the anthropomorphic rabbit would twitch every minute or so, while his ears were laid flat against his head.
Jack bounded into the television room a wide smile on his face and blue eyes sparkling with excitement, but he stopped when he noticed his older brother napping on the couch. A soft smile lit the boy's face as he watched the rabbit sigh and curl up into a ball, snuggling deeper into the cushions, and he considered for just a moment covering his brother up with the abandoned blanket and leaving him to his nap (which he honestly didn't get often enough for his own good, and seeing him relaxing like this was so rare it almost made Jack check to see if the moon had turned blue), however being the younger sibling that he was, Jack shrugged that plan away and jumped on top of the sleeping Pooka.
"BUNNY!"
Bunny shot up, rambling nonsense tumbling from his lips "WHAZZAT?! HUDIDDIT?! WUZZEN'TMEITWUZ'IM!"
The frost child cackled in glee, still sitting on top of the rabbit "Sorry to wake ya up bud, but there's something you really gotta see!"
Bunny narrowed his eyes at the offending object currently interrupting his nap, before rolling over but felt Jack shift allowing for the movement while still balancing on top of the Pooka "Jack," he groaned softly "I don't wanna look, I don't wanna see, just leave me alone, I was in the middle of a particularly epic nap."
Jack gave a playful pout though his eyes still sparkled with mischief "Aw come on, Bunny, pretty please?"
"Ja-aack," the Pooka whined burying his head under a pillow.
"Bun-ny," Jack said in a sing song voice, accompanying each syllable with a poke into his older brother's ribs "Bun-ny, look at me…"
"No, I'm not gonna, because you'll just give me your puppy dog eyes."
"Please?"
"No!"
Jack bounced up, landing on the rabbit with emphasized force making the rabbit give a pained grunt "WHYYYYY?!"
"Because ya git," Aster finally snarled shooting up only to plant a paw across his little brother's face and pushing it hard enough to send the boy tumbling to the floor "I just told ya tha' I wanted a nap, and yer bloody bony behind slammin' inta ma ribs is keepin' me from enjoyin' it!"
Jack merely smiled, allowing the angry rant to slide off his shoulders, knowing very well that the Pooka didn't mean anything cruel by it "Did you know that your accent gets really thick when you're angry?"
"Ya drongo," the rabbit muttered unhappily before grabbing the blanket and flinging it over his head while settling back down into the couch.
"No Bunny, don't go back to sleep!" Jack shrieked scrambling forward on his hands and knees so he could shake Aster's shoulder.
"I do wha' I bloody well want!" Bunny's muffled reply snarled from under his pillow.
"But…" Jack gave a sorrowful sigh, trying really hard to fight back the mischievous smirk twitching his lips as he brought out the big guns guaranteed to get him a reaction "I just wanted to spend some time with my big brother, but if you're too busy for family time…?"
The blanket visibly tensed, and Jack felt a victorious grin begin to split his features as the rabbit's shoulders deflated, and a longsuffering sigh came from the cushions before Aster rolled over and pinned the smug looking frost child with an icy emerald glare "You're a real brat, ya know tha'?"
Jack merely gave an obnoxious grin in return "Guilty as charged, now come on!"
The Pooka rolled his eyes, but rolled off the couch, one paw rubbing his eyes as he gave a jaw cracking yawn "A'right, a'right," he muttered "what's so great that I have ta see right now?"
"I don't think you'll believe me," Jack laughed "that's why you have to come and I'll tell you when we get there!"
"You are way too peppy for me right now," the rabbit grumped tapping the ground.
"Of course I'm peppy," Jack said sticking his tongue out "it's October, and I've only been awake since September! I've got a lot of energy to burn off!"
Aster sighed "But why do ya have ta vent it on me?" he whined.
"Aw, don't be such a baby!" Jack smirked "You're gonna be glad that I did after you see this!"
Bunny shook his head giving the boy a fond smile before trapping him under one arm and giving him a harsh noogie "Fine, I'm comin' but I get ta have full rights ta revenge if it ain't all ya said it is, and then I get to have an uninterrupted nap!"
Jack smiled up at his brother from where he hung in the headlock "Alright," he replied with a careless shrug "but I have proof that you're a big softie."
An arched eyebrow was Jack's only reply for a few moments before a low growl rumbled under the fur where Jack was being held "And what might tha' be?"
The frost child let out a mischievous giggle as he popped out from under Bunny's arm and jumped up so he could dangle upside down on his staff "I didn't give you my puppy dog eyes once, and you still did what I wanted, which means you're a softie."
Aster paused, one eye twitching before he stomped on the ground with an angry hind foot "Well yeah, ya didn't do the kicked puppy eyes," he ranted "but ya used tha' pleading neglected voice, and then ya used family against me…tha' was a low blow, mate."
Jack cackled before shooting down the tunnel his voice echoing as he flew "But it worked!"
Bunny let out an enraged snarl before following his younger sibling "Get back here ya git!"
….
High in the library, there was another spirit who was taking advantage of the sunny October day, Pitch Black former Nightmare King was also in a comforting sleep ensconced on a chaise lounge under a light blanket while a book had fallen to the floor and a cup of tea was abandoned on the side table.
His face, now longer creased by a mask of bitterness and anger, was peaceful and slightly tilted to the side as his chest moved up and down in deep even breaths; this was the state in which Toothiana found him.
"Aw," she cooed softly hovering over his sleeping form but quickly zipped away when she noticed how awkward the action would be if he woke up.
Landing on a nearby chair, she tucked her legs underneath her, and picked up the book that Pitch had been reading, only to give a small gasp mingled with shock, amusement, and delight. The book he had been reading was Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. Warmth enveloped her chest as she snuggled into the couch to read a book that was easily one of her favorites, the knowledge that Pitch was reading it not lost on her at all, and she could not deny the excitement she felt over questioning him on whether he liked Jane Austin as soon as he woke that was bubbling in her heart.
She had made it a good five chapters before the dark figure on the couch began to stir, and Tooth turned laughing lavender eyes to the man as he stretched his arms high above his head while giving a contented sigh.
"You know, you look like a cat when you do that," she smirked softly.
Pitch jumped about a foot in the air, giving a yelp and whirling to face the chair where the Tooth fairy sat "How long have you been there?"
"Only for five chapters," the woman shrugged the smile not leaving her face.
Pitch slowly blinked, his sleep fogged brain struggling to process the meaning behind her words "…Five…Chapters?"
Tooth merely held up Pride and Prejudice, her smile widening to a grin "Great book," she answered simply "one of my favorites actually,"
The Boogeyman's jaw dropped and his eyes darted down to where he last remembered the book falling before he had surrendered to the seductive tug of sleep, and found the area devoid of any books "…Ah…" he replied lamely.
Finally Tooth could take it no more, and immediately lost her cool as a cascade of giggles poured from her mouth, making Pitch send her an indignant pout "You don't have to laugh," he muttered unhappily crossing his arms "I don't see what's so funny."
"Y-Your face!" Toothiana cackled, one delicate hand slapping her thigh helplessly as she was assaulted by another wave of laughter "And the fact that you're pouting with your little blankie…it's just too…CUTE!"
Pitch's eyes widened for a fraction of a second as he realized his current position wasn't helping his case any before narrowing again, and his face flushed red as he sunk lower in his seat, his bottom lip poking out in a more distinctive pout "I hardly think that's worth cackling over," he grumbled.
Tooth merely gave the man a fond smile "Fine, I won't laugh," she said with a small wink "but I still think you're cute."
Pitch cleared his throat as it had suddenly gone dry and closed up, his ears blazing hot in what he knew was a sign that his face was probably red as a tomato, and struggled to a sitting position so to look at tooth more directly "Th-That's…I mean…Tooth!" he stammered in a strangled shout.
"What?" the fairy asked, her eyes wide with feigned innocence and just a hint of mischief.
"That is hardly…appropriate…"
Pitch felt his heart thundering, his hands were clammy, and his head was spinning, all were symptoms from a well known malady that the dark specter had diagnosed himself with ages ago; he was in love. Honestly, the day he realized it he had fallen into a shocked daze that lasted almost a week, and even after he had come out of it he still was walking around like a zombie. He, the Boogeyman, had fallen head over heels in love with the Tooth Fairy, the very idea was so ludicrous it teetered on the edge of insanity, and Pitch had certainly questioned his when he finally came to the conclusion that he had developed feelings for the Guardian.
But the most painful part of it all was the fact that he was relatively sure she didn't feel the same way about him, I mean, how could she?!
Pitch heaved a heavy sigh, how stupid could you get, he wondered? Tooth merely smiled "I only tease you because you give pretty epic reactions, I don't mean to make you uncomfortable."
'Oh if only you knew,' Pitch groaned internally as he fought the urge to flinch from the sharp pain as she blatantly friend zoned him, again "I understand Tooth, it's...fine,"
Tooth cocked her head questioningly "Pitch, are you ok?"
The Boogeyman paused, slowly considering whether to take the chance and tell her his conundrum but he was spared any form of answer when the door burst open, revealing a very disturbed North.
"You must come NOW!"
Hmmm…I considered going on for at least another paragraph, but this seemed an appropriate place to end the chapter.
SORRY!
I hate making you guys wait SO LONG for updates, but working overseas has me so busy, I barely have time to work on my actual book, much less fanfiction.
Please bear with me, and I love you for your kindness and patience, you guys are the best readers and reviewers a girl could ask for!
