Hello my lovelies!
So yeah, I know I've been gone for a bit… But I'm BACK! And I'm trying to keep all my stories updated. For anyone who loves One Piece, I have two stories dedicated to that, and I have one story dedicated to Fairy Tail, and I'm trying to keep everyone HAPPY!
Ok…so last time we saw Bunny he was having an emotional meltdown, and everyone else was going to North's place for tea.
Back to the story!
Sabine hopped off the sleigh, a whoosh of air rushing from her lungs as she shook with relief at finally getting off the contraption that should never have been allowed to leave the ground. Jack sent her a sympathetic smile, understanding due to his years with the Easter bunny how she was feeling, and jerked his head in the direction of a nearby door.
"Come on in," he smiled broadly "the yetis will get you some hot cocoa, and North will explain everything you want to know."
The female cocked her head at the strange white haired boy "What about you?"
"Ah, well I'm gonna cut out here," the teen shrugged sheepishly "I still have some places that need snow, plus I should probably check on Bunny. When he gets all overemotional he tends to do" Jack paused his mouth hanging open as he scrambled for an explanation before blurting "…stupid things, anyways, nice meeting you!"
Sabine giggled softly as Jack jumped into the air and sped out of the sleigh docking station, surfing along the walls and bouncing off gargantuan icicles "He really cares about that Pooka, doesn't he?"
"Indeed he does," a soft British tone broke through her thoughts causing the rabbit to whirl around and find herself face to face with the dark spirit that had accompanied them.
"Aster is very much like an older brother to our winter spirit," Pitch smirked "from the time we've been together, and long before I was given the privilege of joining this odd family, he has stood by Jack protecting and comforting him as only an older sibling would."
"Huh," Sabine scoffed "I'm surprised, most male Pooka's don't form connections like that, usually all they care about is competing and showing up everyone else to show how superior they are."
"Oh, don't get me wrong," Pitch pinned her with a wicked grin before strolling through the doors into the factory his answering laugh echoing down the hallway as he walked "their relationship has a lot of competition in it, but beneath all the bristling fur and clenched fists is a brotherly bond that runs deeper than some families bound by blood!"
Sabine felt her eyebrow raise at that answer, but followed the odd specter anyways "I guess I'll just have to wait and find out for myself."
…
Jack sped across mountains and plains, diving down in a graceful arc over a particular valley, hooking his staff on the branch of a tree using it to propel him into a loop de loop before landing delicately on the balls of his feet.
Folding his hands behind his head, the boy whistled as he approached a certain tree, leaning his back against it as he released his staff to swing down and give a casual whack on the wood. A small smile quirked one side of his lips as the boy watched a hole form at his feet. Bunny had created several of the tunnels all over the world and designed them to open specifically for Jack in case he needed to get into the burrow without breaking in like a burglar.
Tucking his arms tight into his body, Jack hopped feet first into the hole, his voice giving an echoing whoop as he slid through the tunnel, skidding to a stop within a circle of the stone golems "Hey guys!" Jack greeted brightly from where he lay on the grass "Happen to know where Bunny is?"
The Golems faces spun, revealing sad frowns and tearful eyes and Jack felt anxiety for his adopted brother dance in his stomach "He's that far gone, huh?"
With a sigh of frustration, the boy bounced to his feet, and sped to the familiar living quarters of the Easter Bunny screeching to a halt when he saw the destruction of the kitchen leading into the main room. Jack gave a low whistle at the chaos, shaking his head gently as he observed each and every detail, walking through the house his aquiline gaze searching through the mess for the tell tale signs of his friend and sibling.
"Bunny," he called tentatively nudging his way further into the dwelling "come on Bunny, you're freaking me out here, and I don't like being freaked out!"
Silence was his only reply, and Jack gave a groan of aggravated impatience "Aster E. Bunnymund!" he finally screamed with a petulant stomp "Get your furry butt out here right now, or so help me, I'll sing Christmas songs in your burrow until I fall unconscious during my off season! I didn't come here to play hide and seek, so come out already you bloody big eared chicken!"
Jack seethed in the ensuing quiet, his jaw clenched even as his bottom lip poked out in a pout, until finally a small sniffle sounded from one corner of the room making Jack spin around and tap his foot on the floor "Well," he growled "are you going to come out or what?"
Aster slowly stood, bits of debris sliding off his pelt as he sighed "What you want, snowflake?"
"I came to check on you, and it's a good thing I did," Jack grumbled "I mean I get that you're upset, but this is a bit much."
Bunny sent him an angry pout before growling his reply "What do ya know about it?"
A slim eyebrow rose towards a white hairline before Jack gave a soft exhale "I'm going to let that one slide on account of you not being emotionally much less mentally stable."
The rabbit visibly bristled, his teeth glinting in the dim lighting behind a pained snarl "Shut up, brain freeze,"
"No," Jack shrugged carelessly "I'm not going to shut up, because if I do and leave you alone, then you're bound to do something stupid."
"Like I said, what do ya know about it?!" Bunny bellowed "How could you possibly understand my pain?!"
"I know more than you think," Jack returned smoothly "I know how it feels to be alone and so isolated for hundreds of years, and suddenly something you thought was lost to you is returned in a way you never expected and it feels like one giant cosmic joke at your expense."
Bunny's emerald eyes filled with hot tears, sending the liquid to burn trails down his cheeks staining his fur and dripping to the floor as his adopted younger brother explained how he felt in simple yet shattering words "Yeah," he croaked his shoulders slumping in defeat as he hunched back down onto the floor "yeah that's exactly how it feels."
The winter child tiptoed over to the grieving form and knelt next to him, wrapping a thin arm around trembling shoulders "For the fifteen millionth time," he murmured with a hint of a smile "we're here for you, so stop trying to isolate yourself when you feel hurt and just come to us."
Bunny bit his bottom lip in an attempt to keep it from quivering, but it wrinkled up and the rabbit buried his face into the shirt of his little brother "I'm sorry," he wept "I'm so sorry, I just don't know what ta do, and she doesn't even remember who I am, why can't MiM just leave me alone when I was just starting ta be happy again?!"
Jack hugged his older sibling, rocking the larger form as one hand stroked his head "I know man, I know."
The duo sat like that for a few moments until Bunny finally pulled away, wiping his face free of tears and Jack gave a small chuckle "what is it with us and our random emotional outbursts? I thought we were the antisocial tough guys of the group?"
"I dunno," Bunny growled "but I think some higher power has it in fer us and insists on our having problems tha' end with us havin' a meltdown."
"You know what's really funny?" Jack snickered his blue eyes narrowing to a more mischievous gaze "She hates the sleigh as much as you do."
"O' course she does," Aster growled though a smirk "that contraption is a hazard ta yer health, not ta mention bloody insane ta boot."
Jack let loose a bright laugh before giving the rabbit a soft punch on the arm "Come on cotton tail, everyone's waiting for us back at the Pole and you know how North gets when he's worried."
Aster pulled a comical grimace, before giving the boy a weak smirk "Sure, let's get movin'"
The winter child stood back up, offering his staff to the Pooka, pulling the Easter spirit to his feet once aster had it firmly in his grasp. The duo turned to walk out of the house but Bunny paused before whirling on the boy and pulling him into a viselike headlock.
"Whoa! HEY! Lemme go!" Jack bellowed as he bucked and writhed, twisting his head around in his attempt to escape.
"I will," Aster nodded with an evil smirk "but consider this revenge for callin' me a chicken."
Without any hesitation the Pooka licked his finger and brought it down to the now kicking and screaming winter spirit's ear "EW! EWEWEWEWW! NO! Don't you even think about it Bunny! NONononononoNO!"
With a malicious cackle Aster promptly stuck his finger into Jack's ear, giving it a twist for good measure, his entire form shaking with uncontainable mirth as the frost child shrieked his displeasure.
"Oh, you're dead!" he screeched "I mean it, consider yourself stuffed and mounted! You better sleep with one eye open, because I am coming for you!"
"What was tha'?" the Pooka chuckled "I didn't quite catch all of it in between the girly squeals and screams."
"I DON'T SCREAM LIKE A GIRL!" Jack exploded "And I was declaring your imminent demise!"
"Imminent demise," Bunny hummed thoughtfully before returning to his armful "where'd you get that from, one o' yer books?"
"Where I got it doesn't matter," Jack snarled as he thrashed back and forth trying to gain some purchase in popping his head out of the muscular arm wrapped around his neck "because soon enough you're going to be LIVING IT!"
"Hmm," Aster nodded sagely before cracking a grin "nah!"
"Don't 'Nah' me!" Jack stomped, a wince decorating his face as his back began to throb from the awkward position "I've got more than enough skills to wreak my retribution on your scrawny hide!"
"I'm not scrawny," Bunny shot back with an indignant squawk "I'm lithe, there's a difference."
"There's not enough meat on you to feed a baby yeti," the winter sprite retorted.
"I got plenty o' muscle, ya little git!"
"Where?"
"Ya know exactly where!" said muscle flexed cutting off Jack's air supply.
"That's cheating," Jack choked.
"Naw, I'm just proving a point," Aster smirked.
"Yeah, you're proving you're an egotistical jerk who has a strange obsession with finger painting and glitter," Jack gasped his trademark grin directed up at his older sibling.
"What was tha'?!" Bunny growled, tightening his hold making the boy turn slightly blue.
"Hey!" Jack coughed slapping the bicep "I give, I give! You're a hulking mass of alpha male masculinity, ya happy now?!"
Bunny dropped Jack onto the grass, his face a smug smile of accomplishment "Yup,"
Jack rubbed his throat, sending a pouting glare to his older brother "You're a jerk,"
"Maaaybe," Aster replied, cocking his head to the side and giving Jack a cheesy grin "but if I wasn't then that would freak you out and make you question yer own existence."
Jack opened his mouth to shoot back a retort but found himself pausing as he considered the implications within Bunny's statement. The two froze, and Jack found himself blinking in wonder at his newest revelation.
"You're right…it would be totally weird,"
"See, I told ya,"
