Chapter 14The mountains! Training with Gray!

*Crunch*
*Crunch*
*Crunch*

"Uh", Ikiru opened his eyes to the sound of crunching snow. He wiped his eyes but then noticed he was moving.

Before he had a chance to say or do anything Erza adressed him with, "So you're awake?"

"Uh", Ikiru looked down to see that it was Erza who was carrying him on her back. Gray, Makarov and Miyuki walked infront. They were all wearing winter clothes except Gray and Ikiru.

There was a strong breeze witch made Ikiru grit his teeth. He started shivering. He wasn't in clothing that suited these conditions. He was still weak and dazed from the sealing.

Without even saying anything Ikiru planted his face into Erza's back.

"We had to increase the seals power again", Erza began to explain. "You tried to keep it secret from us didn't you? Well you shouldn't. Not only could we tell, but it's dangerous for everyone else, even if you do mean good by it."

"Sorry", Ikiru mumbled quietly, he was drained of his energy.

"Hm. Well anyway, at the moment we're making our way to the top of the mountain where there's a cave. That's where you'll be going through your next phase of training."

"Sorry."

"Hum?"

"You shouldn't have to come all the way up here just because you have to carry me."

"Hey don't worry about it", Erza smiled. "Anyway we're almost there."

Ikiru's eyes fell shut as he fell asleep on Erza's back.

"Ikiru, Ikiru wake up", Miyuki shook him awake gently.

Ikiru was layed down on an icy-rock.

His eyes were blinking uncontrollably as he awoke. His vision turned from blury to clear over a few seconds.
Miyuki was knelt infront of him in a white, hooded, fur-coat that suited her well.
Makarov was wearing a similar coat but gray wasn't clothed on his top half.

Ikiru noticed Erza had gone but didn't address that immediatley incase it hurt Miyuki's feelings.

"Hey Miyuki", Ikiru said softly as he smiled. He still felt drained of his energy.

"Hey", Miyuki greeted as she placed her kind hand on his face.
"You alright?", she asked with a smile holding his hand.

"Yeah", he replied drowsily. "Hey where'd Erza go?"

"Oh she's already making her way back. Don't worry you can thank her when you get back."

"Yeah."

"Alright enough chit-chat get to it!", Makarov yelled.

Miyuki got to her feet and backed away slowly.

Ikiru stood, took of his shirt and began to stretch himself awake as he yawned, "Uhh..."

*Crash*

"Ugghhh!"

Ikiru was hit in the stomach by an icy barrage of spears that sent him flying. He struggled to stand up.

"Don't let your guard down! People that are going to kill you won't give you a chance to breathe if they can help it, nevermind having a morning stretch!", Makarov scolded.

"I thought this was meant to be endurance training, not..."

"Ice make hammer!", Gray called as he brought down a blue mallet above Ikiru.

Ikiru dived and barely managed to dodge.
*Smash!*

The magic sent icy pieces of the cave floor flying in different directions.

"Ice make lance!"

"Good work Gray don't give him a chance to rest!"

"Whose side are you on anyway!?", Ikiru complained as he skided out of the way of the shards struggling to keep his balance.

Ikiru placed his hands into the molding magic stance.

"Uh, dark make or..."

Gray jumped and kicked Ikiru in the side before he had a chance to attack.

He skidded along the slippery ice floor and sapphire shards flew up from it. He ran back towards Gray.

"Ice make lance!"

Ikiru dodged easily to the side.
"I'm starting to recognise your attack pattern!", he declared as he threw a dangerously powerful punch which Gray blocked using both his arms.

*Skid*

*Slide*

*Smash*

Ikiru and Gray began to make a mess of the cave. Blue ice flew everywhere as they skidded on the floor and smashed eachother with their magic.
Although it wasn't one-sided Gray still had the upper hand, he was getting more blows in than Ikiru.

Miyuki was stood on the sidelines with Master Makarov.
"He's not winning but I think he's improved since they started", she stated.

"I agree", Makarov replied. "But the thing it's not really endurance training anymore. He keeps dodging Gray's attacks and it's not like we can just get him to stand still while we blast him. It would be unrealistic from a battle prespective and it's human nature to dodge."

"This training is for his own good right? Then I'll help", Miyuki stated pulling her gloves tight on her hands.

Ikiru ran behind an icy pillar and began to rub himself he was freezing, shirtless on a snow topped mountain. He was barely managing to keep moving because he was so cold and exhausted.

*Smash!*

The pillar was blown away by Gray's magic.

The cave was now pretty much empty of any obstacles or cover. It was now just like an icy arena for their battle. Gray and Ikiru confronted eachother in the centre, ready to fight.

"No more running, fight!", Makarov called to them.

"Dark make orb!"

"Ice make lance!"

Ikiru cartwheeled away from Gray's magic shooting his orb towards him but it was blocked by yet another spell.

"Ice make wall."

Gray could see he was taking the advantage. It was clear he had taken less damage and he wasn't as tired as Ikiru.
Ikiru dropped onto one knee he couldn't use magic much more.

Ikiru began to think to himself, "I need to think more tactically. Ok he's got a higher magic capacity than me; his magic is stronger and he has a wider arsenal. Plus he doesn't seem to be affected by the cold as much as me. The only spell I can use is long ranged although I'm better at close quaters combat. Wait it's not the only spell I can use it's just the only one I've mastered. It's the only one I've tried. It's molding magic, I need to use my imagination!"

"Ice make arrows!"

Ikiru dodged to the side of the crystal-like arrows and sped towards Gray.

They began to have a unarmed brawl.

*Thud*
*Thud*

Left hook, right uppercut, straight, Ikiru was attacking relentlessly. He had the upperhand until Gray decided he wanted a weapon.

"Ice make, Ice bringer!"

Two curved shiny blades of ice appeared in Grays hands as he mercilessly swung at Ikiru.

Ikiru backed off and then rushed back in without a weapon.

"What's he thinking?", Makarov thought to himself with a strange smile.

"Dark make, Sword!", Ikiru procliamed as he swung black energy down upon one of Gray's bringers, leaving it in pieces.

A black blade, sharp and sturdy. It was straight and thin with a deadly point now locked with Gray's bringer of ice. It let out an onamous black aura.

The fight was now fair, one sword each but Ikiru took the upper hand. He wasn't giving Gray chance to drop his sword for molding magic and because Ikiru had the close combat skills he had the advantage.

Ikiru put the sword in his right hand and swung, he threw a fierce left hook, but he was forced to pull the punch and dodge a suprise attack from Miyuki. She dropped down from his upper right side, barely in his view.

"Light make, heavan's arrow!"

She pulled back her right arm and released her grip on the arrow.

With a flash of blinding light the attack blasted a huge hole in the ground next to Ikiru. The arrow had scraped past his face and cut him. Blood leaked and stained his skin red.

Sweat dripped down Ikiru's face and he was put on edge because he wasn't given time to rest. As soon as Ikiru had dodged the attack Gray forced himself into him; their swords pushing on eachother.

They struggled to push against eachother.
Each held their swords in both hands but Gray took one hand away from his sword and said slowly, "Ice make, Gyser."

*Smash!*

The crystal blue magic rocketed Ikiru straight up into the roof.

*Bang*

He was losing conciousness. Spinning around in the air as he fell.

"Ice make, cannon!"

A huge blast of snow shot into Ikiru and crushed him against the cave wall.

*Crack*

Ikiru sat still next to the wall with his head dipped downwards. There was no movement at all.

"Oh shit!", Gray cursed aloud as he rushed over to Ikiru, concerned for his saftey.

Ikiru couldn't move. He could see Miyuki and Gray running towards him but they were moving so slowly. He couldn't understand what was happening. It was as if he was inside his own head looking out of his eyes like they were windows.

"What're you doin kid!?", called deep a voice. "You just gonna sit here and let him finish you off!?"

"Whose their!?", Ikiru called out. "Where are you!?"

"Don't act like you don't know me kid", the voice called back. "I've always been here and you know it. But just to prove it, here, on this occasion boy. I lend you my strength!"

Ikiru was enveloped by a dark aura and then he found himself concious again. Gray and Miyuki running towards him.

He stood straight up and thought he felt a new found power within himself and so he used his magic. The aura was now gone but his eyes were demon black. He wasn't himself. He grinned in a sinister way.

He put his hands together, took a deep breath, put them on his mouth and bellowed, "Dark dragon roar!"

A huge black tornado spirraled across the room. Gray put up an ice wall to defend himself but it didn't reach its full height before the tornado hit it. So the black energy ricochet and smacked into Gray sending him spinning through the air into the otherside of the cave.

*Crash!*

"Uhh!"

The energy that was left in Ikiru's body pulled itself from him. Releasing itself from his head upwards into the cave. Ikiru dropped to the floor feeling powerless and as he shut his eyes he heard the voice again.

"So boy that was our power, whatd'ya think. Hahahaha!"
