xD
Uber.
"Ugh", Ikiru moaned. He was sat up in the bed.
"What's wrong?", Miyuki asked gently.
"I've got a headache."
"You want me to try and soothe it?"
"Nah, it's alright I think I just need more rest."
"Well alright, I'll come in and check on you later", Miyuki explained closing the door behind her.
*Thud*
"This is a serious question", Miyuki adressed team Natsu. "Since Ikiru joined Fairy tail, how many times has he been in there?"
"Err well, almost everyday sooo...", Natsu started but was interrupted by Erza's strike to the head.
*Clonk*
"He's in there quite often if I'm being honest but don't worry about it", Erza adressed Miyuki comfortingly. "Why don't you tell us abit more about him?"
"That's abit weird, I mean I don't know exactly what to tell", Miyuki replied.
"Well just the other day, a kid on the streets ran into some trouble. Ikiru stepped in to help and then basically said that he used to be like that."
"Well yeah, he was on the streets for a while before he could find a job to get him by. That kid probably reminded him of himself", Miyuki explained solemnly. "I'm supposed to be the one to look out for him and I don't even know where he's been the past few years. Some big sister I turned out to be."
"Hey, that ain't your fault!", Natsu cried pointing at Miyuki.
"He's right ya know", Gray agreed.
"Don't blame yourself", Lucy added.
"What matters is that you're here for him now", Erza assured.
"Right", Wendy put in.
"Thanks", Miyuki replied. "Hey, you wanna say hi to him before he falls back to sleep."
"Sure", everyone chimed in.
They followed Miyuki into the infirmary and closed the door behind them *Thud*.
Ikiru sat himself up and greeted everyone drowsily, "Hey guys."
"Hey."
Upon noticing Gray Ikiru tilted his head to avoid eye contact.
Gray came forward to talk to Ikiru.
As Gray came forward Ikiru felt a strange sensation in his head and cringed in pain.
"Ikiru this is kinda awkward so I'll just come out and say it. Sorry for putting you in here", Gray stated putting out a hand to shake.
Ikiru was completley oblivious to the held out hand sat with his hand on his head. Cringing in pain.
"Hey, what's wrong?", Gray asked pulling back the hand.
"Uh, it's nothing. What's up anyway?"
"We just came to see how you were doing before you went back to sleep", Wendy explained.
"I'm fine", Ikiru replied abruptly, cringing in pain again.
"We can see that", Erza put-in with a confused face.
"He's acting more aggresivley than usual", she thought to herself.
Miyuki was thinking the same thing.
"Well then what do ya want?", Ikiru put rudley.
"Uh, Ikiru they've come to see how you're doing don't be so rude", Miyuki adressed him.
"Pft", Ikiru brushed them off as he turned his face to look away.
"Hey, I know you might be pissed that I got you put back in here, but come on it's not like I did it on purpose", Gray explained frustatingly.
"I didn't say you did?", Ikiru replied smugly.
"Then why are you being such a...!", Gray saw Erza and Miyuki's concerned faces and stopped talking.
"What!? Being such a what!? Don't just stop now tell me!?"
"Why are you acting like such an asshole!?", Gray burst out unable to hold himself back.
"Why the hell do you think!", Ikiru shrieked back. "All everyone ever does around here is talk down to me and lecture me like I'm an infant! It's so annoying!"
Ikiru continued to rant after cringing again, "I'm not just some stupid kid that needs to be looked after! All you all ever do is lecture me and get me hurt!"
"Hey it was the Master's decision to do this, it was for your own good!", Natsu tried to explain.
"Look where it's got me! Because he didn't listen to me I almost ended up in a freakin' coma! And it's not like you were holding back either!", Ikiru adressed them angrily and then pointed at Gray.
*Slap!*
"Stop it!", Miyuki demanded after striking Ikiru in the face.
He lowered and turned his head and stopped talking.
"This isn't their fault", Miyuki told Ikiru lowering her voice and changing her tone.
Ikiru grabbed his head with both hands and cringed, "Uhh."
"Uh, stay here I'll get you some water" Miyuki explained leaving the room with the others.
*Slam!*
"Uh", Miyuki sighed. "Guys I need to explain something it's kinda important."
"Go ahead", Erza replied.
Miyuki nodded her head and then started, "Did you notice how Ikiru was acting dazed in there and kept cringing? Well it's becasue he's going through a progression stage. He's adapting to his demons power in a more complex way so that he can use more of its and his own power", she explained in a gloomy voice and then continued. "The only thing is when this happens demonslayers tend to get bad headaches, hence the cringing, and have mood swings."
"That's why he was acting like an assh... brat?" Gray asked holding his toungue.
"Yeah, so basically I'm just wanting you to be patient with him, he could take a while to get used to it."
"You've had the same problem Miyuki?", Lucy asked curious.
"Yes, Kumi lets me tap into her power but until I grow my own power to a certain level there are still levels of her power I can't access. It's the same case for Ikiru. If you notice the light dimming in his eyes then try not to disturb him, it means that he's making contact with his demon or that he's in deep thought."
"Alright then but when do you think this started?", Erza asked. "Also when do you think it'll stop?"
"Probably this morning, he was acting differently to normal."
"Different how?", Natsu put in cheekily raising his eyebrows, trying to bring attention to how they were alone together.
Erza struck his head.
*Clonk*
"Um, it usually takes two or three days to pass over", Miyuki explained blushing, Natsu's childish banter was actually right.
"Alright, I'll give those details to the master", Erza adressed her.
"Right", Miyuki replied as she left the group.
She got a glass of water for Ikiru and went back into the infirmary.
She noticed Ikiru's dazed white eyes and took a seat next to his bed, placing the glass on the bed-side table.
She knew not to disturb Ikiru's thought and so she just sat.
Ikiru could see something. An image within the darkness.
I A- - D-N O- DA-ES- IN-I-E -D O-E- S-L I T- -E W-O C-L- M- NA-, -!
He thought to himself. "Letters? I don't understand?"
He started hearing multiple loud voices all at once. One was deep and distinct among them but he couldn't figure out what it was saying. The voices started to give Ikiru a headache and confuse him.
"Huh!", Ikiru panted coming out of his dazed mind frame and throwing himself forwards. The light cameback into his eyes.
"Hey, you ok!"?, Miyuki adressed him immediatley.
Ikiru saw Miyuki and looked at her as she climbed onto the bed. Tears began to run down his eyes.
Ikiru clung onto her and frantically repeated over and over, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Miyuki didn't know how to react at first but then she smiled, pulled Ikiru close into her and hushed him quiet, "It's ok, it's ok."
Ikiru's repeated apologising started to become slow and calm until he stopped completley and fell asleep on Miyuki's lap.
She smiled and layed him to sleep once again.
"Hey I'm not actually kidding, do you think has some sort of medical condition? I mean how long can one person sleep?", Ikiru awoke to hear Lucy address the team.
"Uh hey", Ikiru moaned sitting himself up and holding his head in pain.
"You alright?", Natsu adressed him concerned.
"No", Ikiru replied nauseously. "I'm gonna take a shower."
He threw himself out of bed and struggled to make his way to the door. He stumbbed multiple times until Miyuki approached to help him, grabbing him by his arm.
Ikiru threw himself away from her and cried, with tears streaming from his eyes, "Stay away!" He panted as team Natsu looked at him with sorrow in their eyes, they knew they couldn't do anything to help him.
Ikiru struggled to his feet and left the infirmary into the main hall, topless, dripping with sweat.
Everyone stared at him whilst he awkwardly made his way to the shower room, hugging the walls to keep his balance.
They were also aware of the situation and knew they couldn't help.
Whilst Ikiru showered Miyuki was scared. She adressed Erza privatley, "Hey, Erza."
"Yes, what is it?"
"Well the thing is, just between me and you, I'm worried about Ikiru."
"Hm, we can all see that", Erza replied calmly.
"That's not what I meant!", Miyuki replied loudly, drawing attention to them. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to shout."
"It's alright, go ahead."
"Well, when I go through the progression stages it's alot less severe than what Ikiru's going through. I mean the headaches are only mild, but he looks like he's suffering agony."
"Hm, and the mood swings?", Erza asked.
"Well actually that's pretty similar but..."
"Then don't worry about it. Ikiru might just be having more pain because his demon is releasing too much power or maybe it' making him suffer on purpose, who knows?"
"Uh, alright."
Ikiru came out of the shower room and dazily made his way to the infirmary, breathing deeply.
The gang followed him in and watched as he sat in the bed without saying a word. They continued to watch as the colur in his eyes dimmed. Miyuki took a seat next to the bed.
Ikiru could see a similar image to what he saw before.
I AM - D-M-N O- DA-K-ES- IN-IDE -ND O-E- SH-L I T-E O-E WHO C-LS MY NA-E, -!
Ikiru saw the image of letters and began to think what it might mean.
"I AM. I am what? WHO. Who what?" Ikiru was starting to remember something, he could see himself, but black, like a mirror image. Talking to himself. Ikiru was trying to remember what that was but then started to hear the voices again.
The deep one yet again distinguishing itself among the others but this time he could understand it a little.
It was saying what he could see, the image, "I am - d-m-n o- da-k-es- in-ide -nd o-e- sh-l I t-e o-e who c-ls my na-e, -!"
"What are you saying!?" Ikiru cried out. The voice kept repeating itself but he still couldn't understand. Eventually the deep voice was drowned out by the other voices and Ikiru felt his conciousness fade away from the darkness as he came back to reality.
He threw himself forward again and began to pant, "Huh huh."
"You alright?", Miyuki adressed him.
"Miyuki", Ikiru stated still catching his breath.
"Yeah, what is it?"
"I can hear voices, in my head."
