Hey guys! I am finally back with an update and no, your eyes are not deceiving you! I would have had this up sooner, but then it got deleted and I had to re-write the whole thing :/
I would like to thank Cindy for the new cover that she made for me!
Now, without further ado I give you the newest chapter! (Hopefully, I have some readers left)
"Mates? Did I hear that correctly?" The doppelgänger questioned as she looked between the blonde and the Original.
"Yes, doppelgänger... You did hear that correctly." Klaus sighed as he crossed his arms over his chest.
Caroline gave him a light smack on his arm and a smirk crept onto his lips.
"Seriously!?" Elena cried out as her eyes widened at how playful the blonde was being with her arch nemesis.
"Is there a problem, doppelgänger?" Klaus questioned, not even bothering to look at her.
"A problem? Obviously! Seriously, Caroline! You judge my relationship with Damon when you're fucking him of all people?" Elena questioned as her hands balled into fists.
"Woah there, Elena! I know you might be angry right now-"
"Angry? That is the understatement of the century!" The brunette spat.
"How about you run along and stop being such a self-entitled brat, darling?" Kol questioned as he eyed the selfish doppelgänger.
"I'm not even talking to you, Kol. You should be dead and yet you're here." Elena spat.
"Which reminds me... Your darling brother drove a white oak stake through my heart..." Kol started as he evilly grinned at Jeremy.
"I'll kill you again if necessary." Jeremy shrugged as he held his ground and Bonnie looked between the two men that were both boiling.
"I hate to break it to you, mate but I can't be killed. Not anymore." Kol chuckled as he flashed towards Jeremy and pressed him against the wall.
"Leave him alone!" Elena shouted as she flashed towards them, only to be pulled back by Rebekah.
"Kol..." Bonnie started.
"Yes, little witch?" Kol questioned as he turned to her with his hand still around Jeremy's neck.
"Please don't kill him." She begged him, hoping that he would listen.
"What's the fun in that?" Kol asked as he searched Bonnie's face.
"Please. I'll do whatever you want. Just don't hurt him."
"Wait a minute... Are the two of you...?" He wondered, the curiosity evident in his voice.
"Yes- we are." Jeremy jabbered as he tried to breathe as best as he could.
Kol was crushing his windpipe and if he wasn't going to let him go soon, he would surely die.
The Original burst out laughing because he couldn't help himself. He wondered if Bonnie's relationship with Baby Gilbert was some sort of sick joke, but he soon realized that they really were together.
"Really, Bonnie?" He questioned as he focused his attention on the petite witch that had her hazel eyes filled with worry.
Bonnie nodded and she crossed her arms over her chest even though she felt a small tug in her chest. She didn't understand why it is she cared about what the cocky Original thought, but she did.
"You can have a man, and yet you go for a boy. Is that really a wise decision?" Kol asked her as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion and amusement.
"Kol…" Caroline began because she didn't want to see Kol criticizing her best friend's decision.
"I'm not being rude, darling… I just want to understand why it is the little witch is choosing to be with a wanna be tough guy when she could have an actual tough guy like myself."
"Kol, please let Jeremy go… He didn't do anything wrong." Bonnie told him as she shifted from one foot to the other in nervousness.
"He didn't do anything wrong?" He started. "Seriously?" He added as he shook his head in sheer disgust.
"He did what we all wanted to do." Elena chimed in as her lips curled at the sight of the now alive Original.
"And now I am going to do what it is that I want to do." Kol retorted as he glared at the doppelganger.
He then focused his attention on the hunter that drove a white oak stake through his heart. His chocolate brown eyes darkened to a coal-like color and he was about to snap his neck before he felt a hand on his arm.
"Please, don't," Bonnie whispered as her voice took on a desperate tone.
Kol swallowed as he looked towards the beautiful witch and he looked her right in the eyes.
"Why?" He asked as his grip tightened on Jeremy's throat.
"For me. Please don't kill him. I love him." Bonnie begged him and finally admitted to herself that she truly did care about Jeremy.
Kol felt his undead heart speed up and he swallowed before he nodded and loosened his grip on Jeremy's throat. He hated that those three words weren't meant for him and he didn't understand why. He only knew her for a short period of time and before his death, their encounters weren't exactly friendly. Kol eventually removed his hand from Jeremy's neck and stepped back.
"For you." He agreed.
Caroline bit down on her bottom lip because the relationship that Kol had with Bonnie reminded her so much of the beginning of her relationship with the Original Hybrid. Her mate.
Jeremy began to cough loudly as he tried to get the oxygen into his system and Bonnie ran over to him before she hugged him to herself tightly.
"You saved my life." Jeremy bellowed once he was finally good.
Bonnie nodded and Kol watched their whole encounter with sadness in his chocolate brown eyes.
"Thank you," Bonnie thanked him sincerely.
Kol nodded before he made his way towards his older brother.
"I mean it." He heard her say.
"Unrequited love." Kol responded before he shook his head and made his way towards the door.
"Brother, stay." Rebekah's voice rang out and Kol stopped in his tracks.
He turned around slowly and his eyes met Rebekah's and he nodded slightly before he walked over to her and wrapped his arm around her.
"Okay, now that that whole situation is resolved, can we get back to the fact that Caroline is Klaus' fucking mate? I mean seriously! This can't be true!" Elena whined as she eyed the Original Hybrid with distaste in her doe brown eyes.
"It is true, Elena." Caroline hissed in her so called friend's direction.
She would think that the doppelganger would finally be happy that she found somebody that cared enough about her to put her first, but she was wrong.
"You're not actually happy about this whole situation, are you?" Elena questioned as she furrowed her thin eyebrows in confusion.
"Big brother, be a dear and drive a bloody stake through the doppelganger's heart. She is getting on my nerves and I would love to do it myself, but I can't because our younger brother's current interest still hasn't lifted the barrier." Klaus told Elijah as he eyed one of the wooden chair's in the dining room.
Elena Gilbert was starting to get on his nerves and he no longer had any use for her considering that they weren't going to go after the cure and it seemed like his obsession for hybrid's to sire vanished right after he found out about his true connection with the beautiful baby vampire that currently stood beside him and would hopefully stand by his side always and forever.
"I am not staking anybody, Niklaus."
"If you won't, I will." Rebekah chimed in and Kol chuckled to himself because he knew that his whole family excluding Elijah hated the self-entitled doppelganger with every fiber of their being.
"So, darling sister… Be a doll and drive a bloody stake through this heartless strumpet's heart." Klaus sang out and Caroline looked over at him with wide eyes.
"Whatever you say, Nik." Rebekah retorted as an evil smirk played on her glossy lips.
As she was walking over to one of the chair's that were in the dining room, Stefan stopped her and placed his hands on the blonde's arms.
"Rebekah… Please do not hurt Elena." Stefan pleaded with her as he tried to get through to her.
"Oh, bloody hell. Don't tell me that you are going to ask me to do it for you, like the darling witch said to my older brother…"
The majority of the Original's were done with the Gilbert's and their groupies because they have had enough of them. It was like they were some sort of royalty and that irritated them to no end.
Bonnie rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms over her chest and she subtly eyed Kol because she was drawn to him even though she didn't want to admit it.
"Rebekah, I am not going to ask you to do it for me, but I am going to ask you to do it for yourself. You once got along with Elena."
"I did, but then she literally stabbed me in the back with a bloody dagger."
"I stabbed you in the back because I didn't want you to ruin our plan."
"Plan? What plan?" Caroline questioned as she tried to remember some sort of plan that involved the Original.
"Oh, that plan was to have Stefan drive a wooden stake through my heart. It was rather stupid on their part because if I died, all of you would die with me." Klaus told her as he remembered the day that he finally killed Mikael.
Caroline shook her head and she exhaled a sigh because she was over everything. She hoped that her friends would understand where she was coming from, but they obviously weren't going to.
Suddenly, they all fell to their knees and grabbed onto their heads.
Bonnie's hand was outstretched and all of the vampires were crying out in agony while Jeremy watched her with wide eyes.
"I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!" Bonnie rawred as she eyed every single one of them. "You are all being selfish and petty and I am fucking done with this shit. I get that there is a lot of tension in this room right now, but I have had it! All of you need to grow the fuck up and learn how to communicate." She told them.
Kol felt like his head was about to explode, but he urged himself to look over at the powerful witch that stood a short distance away from him.
Their eyes met briefly and Bonnie's focus waivered slightly because of his hard glance. He was looking at her proudly even though she was giving him a migraine.
"Bon… Stop before you kill one of them." Jeremy ordered as he reached for her hand.
"Stay back, Jeremy. I'm serious." She responded as she kept her gaze leveled on Kol.
"Bon…" Jeremy started, hoping that she would listen to him if he asked a second time.
"I will stop when I get all of your words. I am done with all of this at this point and I just want to understand if Caroline is actually Klaus' mate. Do I like this whole situation? Not in the slightest, but if it means that my best friend will be happy, I am willing to side with her, but I need to know if this is true first. I can't do that with all of your petty arguments and remarks, so if you all want the pain in your thick skulls to go away, I need you all to promise me that you will leave me to my own devices."
"We- promise." They all said in unison and Bonnie exhaled a loud sigh before she dropped her hand.
All of the vampires stood up once they were able to and they decided to keep their words.
As Kol was leaving, Bonnie stopped him.
"I need you to stay here." She told him.
Jeremy was almost out the door and he turned his head and hoped that she was talking to him, but was disappointed to find out that it wasn't him that she wanted to stay.
"Why?" Kol questioned as he crossed his arms over his broad chest.
"I need somebody to enter the barrier and if what this Tamara woman said is true, then I will believe it."
"Fine," he shrugged as he walked over to her and stood by her side.
Klaus and Caroline looked at one another and they readied themselves for the answer. Klaus personally believed Tamara, but Caroline was still a bit unsure because she thought that a wolf's mate was another wolf and she certainly was not that.
Once the four of them were left in the living room, Bonnie tested out her hypothesis. This whole thing involved science more than it did magic, but it was still important.
"Kol, go into the barrier." Bonnie dictated and a small smirk crept onto his face.
"I like when you take control, darling Bunny." He told her as he winked in her direction.
"Go into the barrier." The Bennett Witch repeated as she ignored what he said.
"As you wish." He shrugged before he put his hands behind his back and walked into the barrier.
Once he was inside the barrier, he stood beside Klaus and waited for Bonnie to continue.
"Caroline, I want you to try and get out of the barrier."
The blonde nodded as she took a step forward and tried to leave the barrier without much success.
Sighing, Bonnie looked over at Kol.
"Try and get out of the barrier." She ordered.
Kol nodded and did as he was told. He was able to get out of the barrier and Bonnie nodded.
"It looks like she was right… I still don't know if the two of you are mates, but if that is true then the impossible will happen."
"The impossible? Please do elaborate, Miss. Bennett." Klaus urged her as he and the blonde listened to her carefully.
"Mates have offspring and I know that it is impossible for the two of you to procreate because you're both dead, but if for some reason, Caroline get's pregnant, it will show that you are the truest of mates."
"Pregnant? Bon, you don't actually think that that is possible, do you?" Caroline questioned as she eyed her best friend with wide eyes.
She was both excited and nervous.
"The only way to make sure that you don't get pregnant is to use protection. You no longer have your menstrual cycle, but the universe is a funny thing… It has its loopholes and whatnot, but I think that you are safe for the time being because I doubt the two of you have already done the deed."
"Oh, darling… You're mistaken." Kol told her as he whistled in her direction.
"I beg your pardon?"
"They already did the dirty. I was a witness." He clarified as a smirk crept onto his lips.
"Holy shit." Caroline whispered as she put her hand on her invisible belly. She felt fine...
"Um…" Bonnie started.
"Can you tell if Caroline is with child?" Klaus asked her as his eyebrows knit together.
"I can't… It's still really early."Bonnie told him.
"Bloody hell," Klaus exhaled.
There you have it! I wasn't really going to go with the pregnancy and I doubt that true mates have to have offspring, but again... This is a work of fiction! I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, nonetheless :)
