Heal my Heartbreak

This story has been prompted by Little Miss Bovver and the prompt was When his relationship ends badly, Robbie finds himself falling off the rails.

Hope you all enjoy it!

It was common knowledge that Robbie Roscoe was not one for feelings. He had built up a wall around him and hid behind it for many years, letting it protect him from all the heinous and horrible things in the world. People called him a sociopath for showing none of his emotions and therefore seemingly caring about no-one and it was one of the many labels that Robbie had grown used to baring.

It wasn't true though, not in the slightest. Robbie did care for people, he loved his family and would do anything to protect them, and once he trusted someone other than his own blood, well he'd always have their back. But Robbie was never keen to show that to people, showing what you cared for and who you loved made you vulnerabl, e and that was something he promised himself that he'd never be.

But that all changed when he met Danica Lord. They had been partnered up for an English project and at first Robbie thought nothing of it. They had never spoken before and Robbie didn't believe for a second that they would ever again once they had moved back to their own seats.

His interest had been piqued slightly when the dark haired girl had refused to roll over and do the work for him, rolling her pen over the desk and cocking an eyebrow at the annoyed look he sent her when she only motioned to their joint exercise sheet.

"Still can't spell your name? I'll give you a helping hand, it ends with W and rhymes with banker."

Robbie snorted with amusement at the frosty reception he'd received, though before he could say anything else, Mr McQueen had demanded their attention to talk through the exercise, though he still found chance to lean over and whisper in Danica's ear, smirking as she ever so slightly stiffened.

"Fiesty, I like it."

"Could you sound anymore pathetic?" she asked, turning to face Robbie, though he noticed that at the same time she had backed away slightly to give herself some more room, obviously uncomfortable with how close her classmate was to her.

This was further cemented when Danica placed her arm on his chair to stop him from invading her personal space anymore than necessary.

"Is there a problem you two?" John-Paul asked, catching both teenagers attention.

"No sir, just needed to borrow a pen," Robbie replied easily, smirking slightly at the annoyed look on his teacher's face.

His amusement only grew when he saw Danica's cheeks redden ever so slightly, though the blush only deepened when she realised that Robbie was watching her, but to the brunette's credit she did send him a harsh glare when John-Paul's back was turned, indicating her frustration for getting in trouble.

In that moment Robbie knew that the girl sat next to him was going to make his life very interesting.

Robbie's predication had been right and for the next few weeks, he made sure to keep note on Danica, oddly fascinated by her and wanting to know her more. Surprisingly he found that his classmate had the potential to be in his life quite a bit if he just made that extra bit of effort.

She had a couple of friends in Finn's year, and even those two seemed quite close (Robbie had berated his best mate when he found out that particular piece of information) and they both shared a few of free periods with one another.

So Robbie made that extra little push, going down to Finn's year area during lunch in hopes of catching a glimpse of his newfound interest, and by actually turning up to the library for his free periods, instead of just skulking behind the bike shed to have a few sneaky cigarettes.

But it was worth it, because although they rarely interacted directly, Robbie caught Danica looking coyly at him from across the hallway enough times to know that he had her interested.

It wouldn't take a lot more effort on his part before Robbie would be able to make a move, he just had to time it perfectly, because otherwise all his hard work would be all for nothing.

Luckily for the young lad, Robbie didn't have to wait long before he could put his plan into action, as just that very week Olly Briers held one of his infamous house parties.

The events were stuff of legend and had resulted in Olly being one of the most popular lads in the year, due to how amazing each and every single one of his parties were.

They'd been held regularly for the last few years and were the perfect excuse to let go, have fun and mindlessly shag. The majority of the top two years of Hollyoaks High were always invited as well as a few others from neighbouring schools, resulting in a mad night for absolutely everyone.

The most recent of Olly's party's was no different and when Robbie saw Danica on the invite list, he knew that this party was going to be the best yet, as long as he got what he wanted, and he was going to get just day of the party felt no different for Robbie, at first that is.

But as they day went on and it got closer and closer to the actual event, he felt a bundle of nerves start to grow in the pit of his stomach, knowing that this would be his only chance to make a proper move on Danica, after all, she was a pretty- no she was a gorgeous girl and was never without a boyfriend for long, Robbie had just been extremely lucky to have met her when she was single.

Fortunately her relationship status hadn't changed since then, though Robbie was determined to be the one to change it.

"You okay Rob?" Jason asked as he shot his brother a curious look from across the other side of the room, where he was pulling out a shirt for the party himself.

"M'fine, why wouldn't I be?" Robbie grumbled, twisting one of his earrings nervously.

"Because you never put as much effort into getting ready like you've done tonight. Hell I think you've spent more time in the bathroom than Ziggy has done all week, and Tuesday was his tanning day so..."

"Okay Jase I get it," Robbie snapped, though there was no heat behind his tone. "Sorry for wanting to look decent tonight, I actually want to get some tonight unlike you apparently. Hol will never want you if you don't shower."

Jason flushed furiously, though he turned to meet Robbie's eye in the mirror's reflection. "This ain't you just 'wanting to look decent', you're out to impress-"

"Uh, yeah I did just say that," Robbie said, rolling his eyes at Jason's words though he hoped that his twin wouldn't be able to complete his thought. So far, no-one knew about his... feelings for Danica and Robbie was quite happy for it to remain that way.

He wasn't one for feelings in the first place, but when he found himself actually liking someone, he was never one to blurt it out for the world to hear, that only ended messily, usually in embarrassment and shame and normally his, on top of that.

Unfortunately for him though, Robbie had kind of forgotten Jason in this whole situation, not even considering that he'd pick up on the odd vibes that Robbie was emitting. He could only hope that Jase wouldn't join the dots, but if there was only person who knew Robbie well, it was his twin, meaning no secrets were safe, despite how well he thought it was hidden.

"No, you want to impress someone, not just any old bird. So who is it?" Jason asked, a playful smile playing at the corners of his lips.

"None of your business," Robbie snapped, hoping that Jason would drop it, though he knew he'd never be that lucky.

"Is it Phoebe still? Cause I thought you got over her ages ago and she ain't even going."
"It's not Phoebe," Robbie sighed, rolling his eyes at the implication. Phoebe had been interesting to begin with, what with actually standing up to him and all, but Robbie had grown quickly bored when not a lot more happened. No, he'd moved onto bigger and better things.

"So who is it?" Jason asked, moving forward so Robbie couldn't do anything but answer the persistent questioning of his twin.

"No-one," Robbie groaned, already seeing this going on for the rest of the night, meaning he'd be on edge everytime he tried to talk to Danica, lest his interfering twin popped up behind him and completely embarrassed him.

Unfortunately for him however, the second he spoke his phone went off, revealing a message from Danica herself. When her name popped up on his screen, Robbie had thought he had acted naturally, not giving off any sign that she was the girl he was currently carrying a torch for.

If the look of pure glee on Jason's face when he saw Robbie slightly stiffen at the message was anything to go by, well it probably meant that Robbie hadn't been as discrete as he thought he had.

Before he could even blink, Jason had grabbed the phone from the side and was darting out of the room, practically cackling as Robbie gave chase, the two brothers charging down the stairs to the shock of their family who were spread throughout the bottom floor of their large home, all taking great relief in it being a Friday night.

Both boys ignored Sandy's protests to stop as they ran out into the garden, Robbie hot on Jason's heels, where he then slowed to read the messages on Robbie's phone and actually begin to question who was messaging his brother. "Danica Lord? Are you serious Rob?"

"Bit too late to start deny it all now isn't it?" Robbie sighed, panting slightly as he half-heartedly tried to get his phone back.

"Uhuh," Jason muttered, though he was too busy being nosey to actually put any effort into talking. "Dani is like the fittest girl in the school, she ain't ever going for someone like you Rob."

"Cheers Jase," Robbie sniffed, doubling his efforts to get his phone back. If his twin wasn't going to be rightfully supportive, then he didn't deserve to look through his messages.

"Actually, you may be in there," Jason said, looking faintly surprised by what Danica's message said. Robbie tried to push down his annoyance at his brother's surprised reaction, that just because she was good looking and a nice person, Danica therefore couldn't be interested in him.

"She says she can't wait to see you there and that you should arrange for somewhere to meet," Jason said, cocking an eyebrow and laughing when Robbie snatched the phone back, pocketing it, though not before he read over the message briefly, a small smile playing at his lips.

When the twin's arrived at the party later that evening, they quickly split up, though not before Jason shot a sly wink over his shoulder in Robbie's direction. Ignoring the other boy's actions (it was a lot less embarrassing in the long run), Robbie made his way to the kitchen where he'd agreed to meet with Danica, instantly spotting her sitting on one of the counters, can of beer in hand and making small talk with a girl from her tutor.

Robbie didn't rush over to her (even though he kind of wanted to), managing to keep a casual pace up until he reached the kitchen (though the attempted air of nonchalance was probably ruined slightly by how Robbie refused to make any sort of conversation with anyone, no matter how hard they tried to catch his eye, he'd actually physically moved someone out of the way at one point).

Danica spotted him instantly and grinned brightly, the smile lighting up her whole face, eyes shining, though Robbie wasn't sure if that was partly due to the alcohol that was now running through her system or because she was happy to see him.

"You came," she said, hugging Robbie tightly, the smell of her vanilla spray surrounding him and knocking him for six, even when she had pulled away.

"Course I did," Robbie shrugged, hoping that no-one would be able to tell how nervous he actually was. Grabbing a can of beer from the side – because the only way he'd be able to go through with this, was with a bit of dutch courage – Robbie took a few swigs before clasping Danica's hand. "Can I talk with yer?"

Danica nodded, allowing herself to be lead out of the kitchen and into the expansive garden, which was where the most of the partygoers were, laughter and trashy dance songs filling the air. "What is is Robbie? Are you okay?"

"No I ain't. You probably know by now that I'm one of those guys who don't get affected by anything. I've always got something to say back to someone and people hate me because I never show that I've been affected by something or let people see if I'm guilty. I were in complete control of myself and I liked that."

"But?" Danica asked, frowning in confusion to where this would be going, though there was a spark in her eyes that told Robbie she knew exactly where this would be going.

"But that's all changed now and that's cause of you Dani. I like you, more than I've ever liked anyone before. I get excited when I know we're going to talk, stumble over my fucking words for God's sake and right now, telling you all this, well I ain't never been so scared before."

The small smile that had been painted on Danica's face for the whole time that Robbie had been speaking, doubled in size when he admitted how he felt.

She didn't say anything, instead choosing to pull Robbie into a furiously passionate kiss, not that he was complaining. It was a hundred times better than he had ever imagined it to be, and he knew he needed more.

"Upstairs?" Danica breathed huskily when the pair separated. "It's normally empty and there's a bit more privacy." She didn't need to repeat herself for Robbie to shake himself out of his lust-induced daze, practically pulling the younger girl up the stairs to find a room for some much needed privacy.

The next few weeks felt like the best weeks of Robbie's life. He'd never felt so happy and the welcome change was all down to Danica, she seemed to be the only person to get him, bar his family and even they didn't properly understand.

And yeah the sex was great, but that wasn't the only thing that Robbie loved about his newfound relationship. He'd never met a girl like Danica before, but in his eyes she was perfect.

Sure his family teased him about it, afterall they all knew him to shy away from his feelings and they never found out about his past relationships unless Jason spilled the beans, but it was so worth it. Because his previous 'relationships' had been anything but, in fact you would be stretching the truth if you called it that.

But this thing with Danica, it was different and everyone could see it. Robbie had been the one to tell Sandy about his relationship not anyone else, a big step for him, and although Danica hadn't done an official meet the family, she'd been round the house so much that she had met everyone at least once and they all seemed to like her.

Robbie didn't know what the future would have in store for him and Danica as a couple, but he already felt comfortable around her and could almost picture her being the one he laid his soul out for. Letting her see all his faults and knowing full well that she would accept them as part of him.

However the future isn't as nice as people wish it to be, and there's always something out there to ruin your happiness and turn your world on it's head.

This happened to Robbie just four weeks after he started dating Danica, his longest relationship to date, and the moment when he felt ready to drop his walls ever so slightly, to let her in more than anyone else had been allowed before. Hell, he was pretty sure he loved her. Or something close to it anyway.

He found himself at the folley one Saturday afternoon, taking the short route to Danica's, intent on surprising her and telling her how he felt, praying that she would share the same feelings. He had gotten about half way past the old, crumbling walls when a shocked gasp caught his attention.

It was instantly apparent what was happening on the other side of the wall and Robbie smirked as the couple hidden just a few feet away from him, remained unaware of his presence, too caught up in their joint lust.

Robbie instantly knew what he could do to cause the most damage (because although he'd fallen for a girl, he was still the same little shit he'd always been and loved causing trouble), and grabbed his phone from his pocket, turning the camera on in seconds.

The weeks, if not months of blackmail material that he would now have from this one photo made him smirk with almost a manic glee, and he was fully prepared to press the button that would end it all for the couple on the other side of the wall when he stepped out, but two things stopped him in his tracks.

And both of these things were two people who were heavily making out, still having not noticed Robbie staring in disbelief.

The first person, the guy, well it was Finn. He was one of the few people that Robbie found tolerable in the hell hole that was school, and despite all the shit they'd gone through together, they had bonded, and the younger lad was the closest that Robbie had ever had to a best friend.

And when you've got a mate like that, who knows all the disgusting things you've done in your life and still doesn't leave you, then you don't ever use their hidden relationship that you accidentally stumbled upon as blackmail.

The girl was what shocked Robbie most though and what turned his blood cold. It took a few seconds for it to hit him, for him to realise that this was actually happening, but when he realised there was no other alternative, Robbie wanted to be sick. Because the girl that was nibbling delicate love bites on Finn's neck was Danica. His Danica. The girl he loved.

Pure rage consumed him and before Robbie knew what was happening, he was pulling Finn away and beating him relentlessly, deaf to Danica's cries to stop, the only thing he could focus on was pummelling punch after punch down on Finn, desperate to make him pay, so the younger lad would feel a fraction of the pain that he himself was now experiencing.

Robbie didn't even slow with his attack when Finn fell to the floor, blood pouring out of his nose, and right eye already swelling up, proving it would be a magnificent bruise in just a few hours.

"Stop it Robbie," Dani cried out again, tears streaking down her face, and ruining her once immaculate make-up. "Just calm down and think about what you're doing."

"No!" Robbie shouted, moving away from Finn, his heart breaking once more when Danica ran to his side, helping the younger boy off the ground. "You've got no right to tell me what to do, not after this."

"Look mate, it ain't-" Finn was interrupted by Robbie's almost animalistic scream.

"Don't you dare call me mate and pretend that you're innocent! I seen what you were doing with my girlfriend and I never thought you'd stoop so low. You're nothing to me, just a worthless little scum bag."

"You can't talk to him like that," Danica gasped, eyes wide as she saw a side to Robbie that she never thought possible.

"Oh don't get on your high horse Dani, you're no better. You're a dirty little slag," Robbie sneered, smiling sadistically as Finn stiffened, though he was too weak to do anything about the comments that were leaving the young Roscoe's mouth. "So how long then, how long have you been going behind my back?"

Neither teen answered, merely staring at their feet sheepishly, not wanting to anger Robbie any further with the truth. He snorted after a moment, still raging about what had happened, though he knew he had to bide his time.

Robbie wouldn't get anywhere if he went on the offensive now, no there'd be no comeuppance for either Danica or Finn, something they both sorely deserved. So instead of hitting Finn like he so wished, Robbie rolled his eyes before turning heel, already planning his revenge.

He paused at the entrance of the folley, turning to the pair who still hadn't moved, though he caught the look that they had shot each other when his back was turned, blood boiling as he realised it was exactly the same look that Danica gave him.

When they felt his eyes on them, Finn and Danica broke eye contact, looking up warily. "You two deserve each other, you know that," Robbie snarled, turning heel and walking out of the folley and well away from them.

For the rest of the day Robbie spent his time planning. No-one humiliated Robbie Roscoe like that and got away with it! His skin was practically crawling as he thought of Finn and Danica together, the person who he thought was his best mate, touching his girlfriend in a way that he should be the only one to do so.

He could imagine them laughing at him, at how he was so stupid he didn't even see what they were doing under his own nose. His best mate and his girl. He could hear the laughter from his classmates already, knowing he'd only be mocked when people found out.

This was why he didn't let people in, didn't trust them or do anything that could compromise himself. Because when he did, he only got hurt. Danica was just one of a very long list, though it didn't stop the pain from hurting any less, it actually hurt Robbie more.

He had thought he'd be able to trust her after so many betrayals, had let his walls down for her, but once again he was proved wrong and for that, Robbie cursed his idiocy.

But they were going to pay and Robbie was going to make it truly unforgettable. Yes, everyone in the whole school would be talking about this for a long time to come. And Robbie was damned if he was going to be the one they talking about.

}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Robbie was already at school when Danica and Finn arrived the next day. Although they walked in together, it was clear that they weren't speaking, or rather that Danica hadn't been talking to Finn. A look of anguish covered the younger boy's face, though Robbie couldn't find it in himself to feel sorry for his former friend.

He smirked to himself as he imagined how much the look on Finn's face would only grow once he stepped into the school, and he moved from the benches to the inside, intent on getting a front row seat for the fireworks.

The few students that were already milling around the corridors had seen Robbie's latest decoration for the school walls and were giggling to one another, shocked looks on their faces, though it was overpowered by their amusement.

Robbie saw Danica walk through the front entrance out of the corner of his eye, Finn close behind and he took a step back so he was perfectly hidden from both teens.

Danica saw the posters first, coming to a complete halt as she stared in pure shock at the walls, tears welling up in her eyes. Finn who had been mere steps behind Danica practically walked into her when she stopped, his own face paling when he saw what she had seen.

Posters of the pair littered the walls, leaving little doubt to even the dimmest of people what had happened. The day before, Robbie had instinctively pressed the camera button, snapping a picture before he realised who the picture was of.

He'd snuck into the garage early that morning, printing off a dozen or so copies of the photo, before sticking them up on the school walls when he knew that Mr Blake would be in his office, therefore not seeing his creativity.

Danica and Finn were both stunned into complete silence for a few moments, trying to gather their thoughts and wrap their heads around what Robbie had just done to them.

A few tears spilled down Danica's cheeks and whilst that would have once sent a stab of worry through Robbie, he now only felt a sick sense of pleasure, glad that she was feeling a fraction of the pain that he had experienced yesterday and was still feeling.

Despite Finn's weak protests to calm down, Danica let out a scream and ripped the closest posters to her down, stamping on the crumpled paper like that would do anything to make people forget what they had just seen.

"You!" She shrieked, spotted Robbie from where he was hidden and storming up to him. "Why would you do that?"

"You screw me over love, you pay," Robbie hissed quietly, so their growing audience wouldn't hear what was being said. "You cheated on me with my best mate and you both were too naïve too think that I wouldn't get even."

"You're a worthless piece of scum Robbie and if it isn't clear, we are so over," Danica snarled, wiping her tears away, eyes flashing furiously as people watching intently. "You're a bitter, twisted little piece of-"

She was interrupted by Patrick Blake coming down the corridors, his presence threatening enough to scare away 90% of the students, as if they'd never been there. Robbie went to leave himself, hoping to keep his head down for just a little bit longer, though that plan was ruined when the headteacher called his name, motioning for the younger boy to come over to him.

"What are these pictures all about Mr Roscoe? I would have thought that chat I had with you about the ill-effects of sexting the other week, would have at least made some impact."

"Wait, you think I did this?" Robbie asked, his eyes wide and the perfect flicker of indignation in his voice to keep it believable. The very picture of pure innocence.

"These pictures contain Danica Lord and Finn O'Connor in a passionate embrace do they not? Your girlfriend and a close friend of yours if I'm not very much mistaken. I do not put it past you for one moment to be above such petty acts of revenge."

"I didn't do this though Sir," Robbie protested once more, making sure to look as hurt as possible. "This is the first time I've seen the pictures I swear. Do you really believe that I would put up pictures of my girlfriend and best mate snogging all over the school? My reputation has been ruined now, I wouldn't do that to myself."

"Is that so?" Patrick asked, arching a brow, his tone full of disbelief.

"A lot of people don't like me in this school Sir. If they wanted to embarrass me, then they'd do it without a doubt. This photo doesn't only make them suffer, but me too." Without another word, Robbie turned on his heel and made his way to tutor, a smirk playing on his lips, knowing he'd gotten away with it.

The rest of the day passed by with angry glares from both Danica and Finn and more ideas of revenge for Robbie. He'd managed to print off more photos at break and had stuffed both of their lockers with it, watching with amusement as the paper cascaded out when either unlocked the doors, faces flushing red when they realised what it was.

Robbie had even managed to hook the picture up to the projector in a few of their lessons, only wishing he had been there to see their faces when the picture had been blown up on the big screen for everyone to see.

It seemed that Mr Blake was also believing his sob story for the moment, as he'd had no more interactions with the headteacher, something Robbie was thanking his lucky stars for. The only nuisance in his day was Jason's presence.

His twin seemed to be one of only a few people that had fully connected the dots and was trying to push an explanation out of Robbie, with little success. In fact, the most he had got was a rough shove and yell to leave him alone.

Robbie did care for his brother, he did, but Jason was grating on his nerves and there was little he could do anyway. He had practically no experience with girls as it was and even then, nothing like this had happened to him.

That was why Robbie found himself at the garage after school, taking his frustrations out on the family's punching bag whilst Freddie worked quietly in the corner, occasionally shooting Robbie a concerned look. After feeling Freddie's eyes on him for the fifth time, Robbie felt his patience snapping and stopped his violent punching, to turn to his older brother.

"Yes?" he asked, trying to catch his breath and ignore the uncomfortable sensation of sweat trickling down his back.

"Nothing, nothing," Freddie muttered, hands up in mock surrender at the iciness of Robbie's tone. "You just seem a bit... stressed. Anything you want to share with the class?"

"I'm fine," Robbie said through gritted teeth, moving to turn back to the punching bag, though he was stopped by Freddie walking over to him.

"You know you can talk to me mate," Freddie said, a concerned look on his face. "And don't say you're fine, because that's not what Jason told me when he text me the picture of Danica kissing Finn. The one that you've put all over the school."

At that moment, Robbie just gave up. He couldn't be angry at his twin, not really, because Jase was just looking out for him, and he certainly didn't send the picture to Freddie with an ulterior motive.

The past twenty four hours had been taxing and it was all just too much for Robbie. He was tired of the fighting and he hated how weak he had become in the space of just a few short weeks.

In no time, Robbie found himself pouring his heart out to his older brother, unable to stop his ramblings but hoping that Freddie would be able to stop the pain, even if it was just by a little bit. Because out of all his brothers, Robbie knows he can trust Freddie. They've been through so much shit together, that it's only natural that they've formed the close bond that they have and he knows Freddie gets it too.

He's been in less relationships than one may think, but they've never ended well for him. Robbie can only hope that that means, Freddie will have some wise words for him.

"It ain't ever easy finding out something like that Rob," Freddie sighed when Robbie had finished, a look of sympathy in his eyes that Robbie found himself instantly hating. He didn't need anyone's sympathy or pity, even if it was from his brother. He'd had enough of that at school.

"You think you've found someone that gets you. You look at them and you see perfection. They let you in, in a way that's special, tell you more than the average person.

And then you start trusting them, you think this is it, can practically see your own happy ending and it's all perfect. But then it's not so perfect. You find out they have their interests directed at someone else, and it feels like your heart will never stop breaking."

"But it gets better yeah?" Robbie asked, turning to Freddie, seeing the unshed tears for only a second before the older man had turned away.

"Uh yeah, it does. You just got to move on, give it time and try and stay calm. You're better than her Rob, you just got to believe it."

Robbie smiled slightly at Freddie's words, not noticing as the older man excused himself from the garage hurriedly, suddenly looking ill, choosing instead to pick up his phone, looking at the picture that had caused so much drama in just a few short hours.

Knowing that it was for the best, Robbie sighed and deleted the photo. Freddie was right, he was better than Danica, he didn't need to even out his pain with petty revenge, even if it had helped in the short term.

Taking a deep breath, Robbie grabbed his school bag from the side and walked out of the garage, his head held high. Sure it hurt now, but Robbie was determined to heal his heartbreak, for once aiming to do it in the mature way, even though it sounded a lot more boring.

So I hope that was okay, I really enjoyed writing the more sensitive side to Robbie and hope we get to see it on the show eventually!
