Early April
"Come on, Sam. We need to know."
"Why do you guys need to know?"
"Because! None of us can have the same colors!" Jessica sighed, exhausted. Sam knew that she just wanted to know their colors, but Gabriel and Sam didn't even know yet. They still had almost two weeks for crying out loud.
"Jess, don't worry, neither Gabriel nor I will be wearing the same dress as you." Now Sam was just messing with her. The two of them were sitting in the cafeteria waiting for Kevin and Jody to join them for lunch.
"He's impossible!" Jessica proclaimed as Jody sat next to her. "Tell me some good news, please?"
"Well, I think I found a date." Jody smiled. "Since my homecoming date just had to go and get himself a boyfriend." Jody threw a hard look Sam's way as Kevin sat down. Sam laughed.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Anyway, who do you think you're going with?"
"Well, I don't know how official it is, but he's been kind of hinting at asking me for the past few days."
"Who is it?"
"What has he been saying?"
"Asking if I had a date, and which color I think I would look best in, things like that."
"You still haven't answered who."
"Well, actually it's one of Gabriel's friends."
"Oh really?" Sam got a little worried. He only liked one or two of Gabriel's friends, which is why he had convinced Gabriel to go with his friends to the dance.
"Yeah, um…Shamus."
"Shamus? I don't think…OH! You mean Crowley?" Sam raised an eyebrow. Was he actually going with Jody?
"Yeah, but he lets me call him Shamus." Jody smiled and shrugged.
"Okay, does he want to come with us or are you going in his group?"
"Well, like I said, he hasn't officially asked me yet."
"Hey there, sexy." Sam smiled at Gabriel as he was leaning against his locker.
"Well, hey handsome. So, guess what we talked about at lunch today."
"Um…well it was you, Jessica, Kevin, and Jody, so I'm going to bet it was nuclear fission."
"You're funny,"
"I know."
"…but seriously."
"Prom?"
"Yes, sir. Jessica needs to know what colors we are wearing or she is going to have an aneurysm and do you know who Crowley is going with?"
"Well, actually, he kind of ran it by me today."
"Is it Jody?"
"Yeah, he's actually kind of liked her since the semester started and he wanted to ask her so he asked me for ideas."
"Okay, which is fine, I actually don't mind him, but who is Michael going with?" Sam saw Gabriel's face fall. Sam and Michael really hadn't gotten along. Sam had tried, he really had, but Michael just…well Sam thought he was a dick.
"I don't know. I mean, I'm assuming he'll go with one of the cheerleaders or a girl on the dance team, so she'll want to go with her friends."
"So, Michael won't want to come with us?"
"I highly doubt it, and if he does, I'll make sure you two act civilized." Sam partly smiled.
"What would I do without you?"
"Crash and burn." Gabriel smiled before pulling Sam down into a kiss. "Now, we need to discuss tuxes and whatnot." Sam groaned.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about prom, but I'm tired of talking about it. Can't we just skip to the actual dance without planning it all?"
"No, honey, life doesn't work like that."
"I thought we talked about the 'honey' thing."
"Sorry, sugar." Gabriel winked and then grabbed his car keys out of his pocket. "Are you ready to go though? I need to stop and get my dad's dry cleaning before I head home."
"I need to stop by my locker quick." Gabriel had been driving Sam to school for the past couple days because Baby was in the shop. Dean said she needed a few tune-ups then Sam could have her back. The two made their way to Sam's locker, he grabbed his books, and then to Gabriel's car.
"So, colors, boutonnieres, dinner, let's talk."
"Can't you and Jess talk about this stuff?"
"Actually, that's a great idea. Remind me to call her tonight."
"Perfect, just tell me when, where and what color."
"You're no fun." Gabriel stuck his tongue out at Sam.
"I'm a joy to be around, and you know it." The two jokingly bickered almost the whole way to Sam's. Once there, the two exchanged kisses and Sam got out of the car then stuck his head in the window.
"Don't forget your dad's dry cleaning."
"I know."
"Or to call Jess."
"I know."
"And call me after that."
"Yes, Sam." Gabriel rolled his eyes. He loved Sam, but sometimes he treated him like he was 6.
"Oh, one more thing?"
"Whaaaat?" Gabriel whined. Sam smiled.
"I love you." Gabriel smiled back.
"Okay, now one of you putting Sam's boutonniere on him, sweetie." Saraqeal pointed her camera at Sam and Gabriel again, while Castiel took a picture and Dean smirked at Sam. They just snapped pictures after Saraqeal posed the boys.
"Mom, are all these pictures really necessary?"
"Yes, they are!" Gabriel rolled his eyes and sighed. It was prom night and they were taking pictures at Jessica's house. Sam, Gabriel, Channing, Kevin, Jessica, Brady, Jody and Crowley were all there, hoping to get through pictures as quickly as they could. Sam and Gabriel were wearing black tuxes with pale gold vests and ties, but Gabriel was wearing a bowtie and Sam had a long tie on. Channing had on a long, royal blue dress with her black hair wrapped into a bun and silver accessories. Kevin was wearing a black tux with a silver tie and vest. Jessica had on a long, white, strapless dress with jewels along the bust area and her hair blonde hair was twisted into a side braid. Brady was in a black tux with a white vest and tie. Finally, Jody had on floor length, red dress with one shoulder strap. Her dark brown hair was cut in a short pixie cut. Crowley was wearing all black, but his tie was just as red a Jody's dress.
"Okay, okay, now girls get together." Jessica's mother called out. The parents kept posing the kids in different ways and taking pictures until Gabriel looked at his watch.
"Hey! If we want to get to dinner we should probably leave!" He announced and all the kids agreed and waved goodbye to their parents. Dean threw a wink in Sam's direction before Sam got into Gabriel's car. Gabriel was driving Sam, Jody and Crowley while Brady was driving Jessica, Channing and Kevin. They all piled into the cars and left. Sam kept sneaking glances at Gabriel. He looked damn good in that tux. Sam didn't know it, but Gabriel was thinking the same thing about him.
"So, what's happening after the dance?" Crowley asked.
"Well, my parents said everybody could stay over at my house." Gabriel looked in the review mirror at his friend.
"Sounds good. This dance should be fun, right?"
"Yeah. Hey, who did Lucifer end up going with?"
"Oh who knows, some cheerleader I guess."
"Of course he did." Crowley and Gabriel talked about the rest of the basketball team until they pulled into the restaurant. The others were waiting for them outside. Gabriel parked his car and the two got out.
"Jess, the reservations are under your name, right?" Kevin questioned. Jessica nodded and the eight made their way into the restaurant. They were led to their table.
"So, ladies, I don't know if your dates have told you yet, but you all look beautiful." The waiter smiled.
"Thanks, you don't look too bad yourself." Gabriel winked at the waiter, and the table laughed.
"Well, you look good as well, gentlemen. Now, can I get your orders?" They all ordered and began talking about the dance.
"So, Gabriel's after post-prom right?" Jessica asked after their food arrived.
"Yup. My mom even stocked the fridge with food and drinks."
"Perfect. That'll be fun."
"Hopefully." The conversations continued around the table, until Brady looked at his watch.
"Alright guys, we should probably head out."
"Ready for checks?" The waiter asked.
"Yeah, the couples are sitting next to each other." Jessica said.
"Are you gentlemen separate?" The waiter directed towards Sam and Gabriel.
"Actually no, ours is together." Gabriel replied, getting an odd look from the waiter.
"Oh, okay. I'll be right back then." He left and Sam sighed.
"Do you ever get tired of people giving us funny looks?" Sam whispered to Gabriel. Gabriel smiled and gave Sam a kiss on the lips.
"Get a room, you two." Crowley said across the table. Gabriel pulled away gently and grinned at Sam.
"Not at all." Gabriel responded with a nod as the waiter handed him the check. They all paid, and then made their way to the cars.
"Do you want to meet in the parking lot before we actually go in?"
"Sounds good to me." Sam said. At that, they got into the cars and Gabriel led the way to the hotel downtown for the dance.
"You know, instead of going back to my place…"
"No, Gabe." Sam decided to get that train off the track before it ran away.
"Why not?"
"Because, we've already talked about this and if I don't end up at your house tonight I'll be grounded for probably a month, and you don't want me grounded for my birthday do you?" Gabriel sighed.
"No, I guess not. Fine, but next year?" Sam laughed.
"Maybe, maybe next year."
"So, you two won't be getting a room?" Jody asked from the back seat.
"No, guess not."
"Damn, sorry mate." Crowley clapped a hand on Gabriel's shoulder.
"Oh, shut up." Sam rolled his eyes, but smiled. Gabriel pulled into the parking lot of the hotel and parked.
"Do you guys see anybody?" Jessica waved close to the entrance of the hotel.
"There's Jess!" Jody waved back and the four walked to their other friends.
"Ready for prom!?" The girls squealed and the boys just exchanged looks. They all went in and gave their tickets to the teacher waiting in front of the ballroom. Once inside they all looked around.
"Holy. Shit. I hate to say it, but Abby really out did herself." There were balloon archways, streamers, signs, strobe lights, and a disco ball. It was different from homecoming because it was much nicer.
"So, let's get pictures, then grab a table." Jessica led the way to the pictures.
"Are we getting pictures?" Sam asked Gabriel before they followed everybody else.
"Well, I figured we would. Why? Do you not want to?"
"Of course I do." Sam smiled and pulled Gabriel close. "I've got the hottest date here." Gabriel smirked back.
"Let's go then." The couples got their pictures taken and then hit the dance floor. They were in a circle, dancing when others joined for some times and then left, but the eight of them stayed together pretty much the whole night. Michael came by and said hello with Krissy, then left to be with her group. After a solid hour of fast paced music, the DJ got on the microphone.
"Alright, Lawrence High! It's time to grab that special guy or girl and pull 'em in real close because we are going to slow it down." The slow guitar strumming of 'I Won't Give Up' by Jason Mraz came out of the speakers. Sam turned Gabriel around, wrapped his arms around Gabriel's waist and pulled him close. Gabriel smiled and wrapped his arms around Sam's neck.
"You know what I just realized?" Gabriel asked as they swayed with the music.
"What's that?"
"We don't have a song."
"We don't do we?"
"This one seems to work."
Even if the skies get rough. I'm giving you aaaall my love. I'm still looking up.
"You think so? Isn't a little…I don't know, cliché?" Sam asked as the two continued. Gabriel rested his head on Sam's chest.
"You never gave up on me, Sam."
"You're right. And I never will." Sam buried his head into Gabriel's hair.
"So, I think this should be our song."
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did instead for us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn.
"Especially this part."
I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not, and who I aaaaaaam.
"You taught me all that." Gabriel looked up at Sam. Sam looked back and realized why Gabriel really wanted this to be their song.
"Well, glad I could help." Sam bent down for a kiss and the two's lips met. They broke apart just before the song ended and Gabriel looked up into Sam's eyes.
I'm giving you aaaall my love. I'm still looking up.
The dance continued, with only one other slow song, and then ended with the crowning of the king and queen (some senior from the baseball team and Abaddon).
"Alright everybody, your principal would like me to remind you that post prom will be held in the school gymnasium. Have a great rest of the night!" The lights flickered on and the girls ran to the table to find their shoes and purses.
"Everybody ready to go?" Jody asked, but already leading the way out of the ballroom.
"Post prom, then Gabe's, right?" Brady glanced over at the group riding in the other car. He got a nod from Crowley before they all got into their cars.
"That was so fun!" Jody exclaimed once inside the car.
"Yeah," Sam reached over and intertwined his fingers with Gabriel's. Gabriel smiled, then kissed Sam's hand. Everybody made their way to Jessica's to change into something more relaxing, and then went to post-prom. There were games and prizes and another DJ. It was basically a carnival. They all had fun and when it was over, they all went to Gabriel's for the last bit of the night. They popped popcorn and slid in a scary movie, but nobody stayed awake for it. Except, Sam and Gabriel.
"Sam?" Gabriel whispered just before the movie ended.
"Hm?" Gabriel swallowed, nervous about what he was about to ask.
"Would um…you rather sleep in my bed?" Sam looked down at Gabriel. He knew what Gabriel was really asking him, and Sam knew this question was coming all night. Sam also knew his answer.
"Yeah, I would." Gabriel smiled and stood up. The quietly tip-toed around their friends, hoping nobody would wake up. The two then noiselessly went up the stairs to Gabriel's room. Once inside, and the door closed, Gabriel wrapped his fingers in Sam's hair and pulled him down into a deep, passionate kiss. Sam responded by putting his hands on Gabriel's hips and pulling him closer. Gabriel slowly started moving back towards the bed until he toppled over it and Sam landed on top of him.
The early morning sunlight poured in through Gabriel's window. Gabriel's eyes were slow to open, but that damn sun wasn't allowing any sleep. Gabriel rolled over and was face to face with Sam. They were so close that Gabriel could feel Sam's breath on his face. Gabriel smiled and snuggled into Sam. Sam held him tighter and let out a contented sigh.
"We should probably get back down stairs." Sam murmured as he gently kissed Gabriel's hair.
"Do we have to?" Gabriel placed a kiss on Sam's bare chest.
"No, but if we don't, people will talk." Gabriel sighed and looked up at Sam. He couldn't believe how perfect last night had been.
"Fine, help me find my boxers." Gabriel smirked as the two got out of bed and slowly got dressed again. He glanced at his clock. It was just after six in the morning, so hopefully nobody would be awake. The two went back downstairs just as quickly and quietly as they had the night before and found that, thankfully, everybody was still asleep. Sam laid down on the couch first so that Gabriel could lie in front of him, the same position they had been in last night. Once Gabriel laid down, Sam wrapped one arm around Gabriel and then rested his chin on Gabriel's shoulder. He placed a tender, loving kiss on Gabriel's neck.
"I love you, Gabriel." Sam whispered before closing his eyes to get a little more sleep.
"I love you, too, Sam."
Okay! So! Junior year is over and I've got a couple ideas for at least 3 senior year chapters (including graduation). Once senior year is over we'll be getting to college and beyond! I'm so excited because I've got some kinda fun ideas for those! Anyway! I've said it before and I'll keep saying it! Thanks for everything! Love y'all!
